Unleashed was slow at so many points, but honestly it felt so worth it making to the final boss. Then the final boss killed me so many times that I couldn’t finish the game XD Looking back still worth it for those day time stages and bosses before the final boss!
That final boss was the first time ever I raged quit in a game but when I finally beat it oh man, the Super Sonic boss is hands down one of the greatest most satisfying boss fights ever.
I don’t think there’s a single night level that took me less than 20. Even if you can beat it much quicker, you still need to find most of the sun and moon medals in each stage or else you’ll get stuck later.
Unleashed is one of those games where it requires you to master the stages in order for it to be fun And this is coming from someone who's had this game since launch, ever since I was a little kid. On a first playthrough, it can be brutal. Especially the werehog and medals. But if you take the time to master the combo list and properly upgrade the Werehog, it's a really fun brawler, and the day stages are so satisfying if you can get a smooth run with an S rank.

@GrassyBoy That's a major problem with Unleashed. The game is not fun on a first playthrough with the reasons you stated and the level design. It tried to incorporate how the Classic Sonic games worked with the game getting more fun as you master it, but the levels are far more punishing for first time players and the camera during 2D sections is somehow worse than the classic games. I've just played Unleashed recently and found it to be pretty average. With how my first playthrough went, my desire to replay the game is very low. A game should be fun on its first playthrough since why would you want to play a game that isn't fun?
Honestly, I really like the treasure hunting levels in SA2. It's not just waiting for your radar to blink, it's memorizing the level elements and using the hints to track down the exact location as fast as possible.
Literally all of you are playing it wrong. Don't rely on the blinking itself, rely on the range, the emerald radar detects really far, so if the thing isn't blinking in one huge segment of the level, then it isn't there, so no need to stay long. It makes levels like aquatic mine and Pumpkin hill cake walks since you minimized backtracking. Even with the worst rng, you can finish those levels in 5 mins. The dude on the top is right, none of you guys have the patience to play the game well. If you guys did, and figured out that the range is op, you guys would have a better time on the emerald stages. I've managed to finish Aquatic mine and got the water breathing upgrade in 3 minutes.
My main problem with the night stages in unleashed is how it doesn't force you to pull off different combos- which leads to people doing the same move over and over- and then blaming the game for having "boring combat".
It’s because there are like one or two combos that are wayyyy better than anything else. The only way I can reliably kill anything is with the drill combo. Every lets play of unleashed I’ve ever watched abuses that combo as well. Everything else aside from that and the cartwheel combo (don’t know what it’s called) is just not as good

Sonic Adventure 2 will probably always be my favorite sonic game. Generations is a very close second. I don’t like the knuckles and rouge stages, but I love the sonic and shadow stages and enjoy the mech stages. What puts SA2 above Generations for me is the story and chao world. Why has the chao world never returned? It’s awesome, and even as an adult, I still love it
Agree, although I actually didn't like the mech stages much (Mostly just because im bad at them lol, and im not really a fan of how limited and slow they were in terms of movement), and actually found Knuckles and Rouge's stages quite fun ngl
Not gonna lie, i actually have a bit of a soft spot for Forces. It's the first Sonic game I ever played, as i didn't really get into the series until quarantine, and because of that i didn't really have any expectations going into it and ended up finding it pretty enjoyable because of it. Of course now, having played many other Sonic games, i know that Forces really doesn't hold up against them. But, since it was my first one, rather than being disappointed by it I just see it as letting me appreciate the other games more. Also, very happy to see that most people agree that Generations is one of the best games in the series. That game is awesome. I just wish the final boss was a bit better

I have sonic unleashed since i was a kid for the ps2. It's a great game. I enjoy both the day and night stages. It just feels so damm satisfying when beating up the enemies in the night stages. The music is great. And damm those cinematic are awsome and make the sonic movies look like nothing.

Okay, here's my ranking(I'm including Shadow the hedgehog): 12: Forces(too boring and failed hype when the premise was so interesting, that's the worst bit about the game for me) 11: Lost World(never played it, it doesn't look that bad, but it isn't a must buy either) 10: Shadow the hedgehog(while the gameplay is better, this story is ass and drags on way too long) 9: Secret Rings(I have nostalgic memories with this one, but it controls badly and the mission structure not guiding you on what missions to do got frustrating very quickly) 8. 1. I 100% agree with everything you said about Unleashed. I never understood all the hate it got. Sure the Werehog levels felt like they took a long time, but imo, it was an interesting change of pace. Seriously, until Generations came out, I haven't had so much fun playing a Sonic game since Heroes. 2. Speaking of Heroes, while I WILL admit that it's a mess as I'm looking back on it, it was (imo) what I think a Sonic game should be like: Fast paced and quick on your toes. I also liked the idea of having to think of the best and quickest way(s) to beat your enemies and I like games like that. 3. My reasons for preferring SA2 over SA1 is the story and "high speed linear action", but mainly the character development for everyone, especially Shadow. I was 16 when SA2 came and from the moment I saw Shadow, I instantly loved him. Back then, he had such a mysterious vibe and I LOVED it.
Been a while since I caught one of your videos but congrats on 40k. My best 3D Sonics are a pretty generic answer. Colours and Generations. I like Adventure 1 despite some ageing. The rest I could do without.
The reason I place SA2 higher than SA1 is because the playable characters, despite only have 3 gameplay styles instead of 6 like in SA1, feel much more fleshed out with far more to do. Sonic Adventure 1 clearly revolved mainly around Sonic with the other characters feeling like an afterthought, with much shorter or fewer levels. The characters get half the amount of game time at most that Sonic gets with characters like Tails, and hardly a quarter of it with characters like Amy. This sucks cause, with the exception of Big (and I really don't like that Big is in this game), these characters are super fun to play with. If SA1 let you play as all the characters in Sonic's stages then that would make up for it, but they don't. You can mod the PC version to do it, and it's a fun time. I consider SA1 a good game that should have been great but they didn't utilize it's full potential when developing it. SA2 is a solid package that both improves and unfortunately worsens a few aspects of SA1 and the treasure hunting took a long time to get used to but I like that game so much more now because it feels so much more complex than SA1. Mad Space is genuinely a terrible level, however.
@@SuzukiCabs Despite the development of SA2 implying that was originally the case, the end result does not reflect that. Each character in SA2 has completely original stages or level design while Tails and Knuckles from SA1 just take one portion of Sonic's stages and make them either a super quick race or place some emeralds around, these levels take next to no time to beat and there's hardly any of them. Sometimes SA2 is too challenging, but SA1 for Tails and Knuckles have zero challenge. Whether or not you like one level more than another, to each their own
Sonic Unleashed is too fast? That’s a ridiculous thing to say. Is Skyrim too open world? Is Dead Space too scary? Is Doom too awesome? Unleashed is easily my favorite.
Yeah same opinion, I don't get why people complain about the speed when the game and main character are literally called *_SONIC_* and the main character's most prominent ability is *_SUPER SPEED_* in that situation I'd be more flabbergasted if the gameplay was *_SLOW_*
It’s not about them making Sonic go fast it’s how they does it. Sonic going speed boost fast needs to be optional. Some of us want to explore. Speed boosting throughout the entire game with no control over sonic get boring real fast. Again I’m not saying they should take speed boost off but it needs to be our choice to make him speed boost. Rail gliding without building speed or having balance also gets boring and makes it less risky. This is what the adventure games got right

As someone who grew up with the PS2 version of Unleashed, I liked that version and that it excels over the HD in some areas. No forced medal collecting as in the PS2 version it's just for collecting goodies in Gaia Gates. Eggmanland, dreadful and too too long in the HD one, is split into several mini missions. The night levels are basically 3 to 5 mini levels at like 8 min at most from my experience as opposed to like 30 min on the HD version. Graphically the HD one is better but I think both versions are fine. The werehog concept and execution sucked ass tho. I hated that. Who asked for sonic with combat? He's about speed. You can replace the night levels with Knuckles brawler levels and it would be way better. I still think Unleashed is a 50/50 game at best, a game that has more flaws than goods.

The night levels in Unleashed were pretty fast for me. Also, oh no! I hate it when there's story filler so that I can learn about characters, motivations, and the world! It sucks when people actually take time to tell their story!
I might be biased and I respect your opinion, but one thing about Sonic Unleashed I disagree on is the idea that it should have a level select. I personally love the hub world and while I may not talk to the NPCs that much when it isn't necessary, I think giving the players a choice to do that is pretty nice and I don't think the parts where you have to talk to NPCs are that obtrusive or long. I like it for the immersion and story purposes, if that makes sense. It helps you understand the world you are traveling and get attached to it, so you have more of a motivation to save it. Also, I love that the places you travel are based on real life places and I think it's just nice and relaxing to hang out in them before you get to the actual levels. That's just how I see it, though. I understand that if you already don't like stuff in this game, the hub world might make the issues feel worse.

Honestly, play the ps2/wii version of Unleashed. It may not be as graphically impressive but gameplay wise it is far more enjoyable due to it being more streamlined and simplified.
Love how half the bad stuff about Unleashed is exclusive to the HD version and I completely agree with those problems. The Wii/PS2 version is much superior, trust me. The Night stages tend to be broken up and the longest I remember spending on one is 13 minutes(as opposed to a half hour), the final boss is much more fun to fight, the hub world visits are made much shorter since it's just a menu where you talk to people(and can skip text if you like) then head into the Gaia Temple. Yeah, there is some filler missions in there but I'll take those over the problems in the HD version any day. I highly recommend the SD Version of Sonic Unleashed. Also, Eggmanland is not 50 friggin' minutes on the SD Version. It's several levels like a traditional Sonic game. Also, placing Forces above Black Knight is the highest level of disrespect you can give any game in the series unless it's 06, Rise of Lyric, or Secret Rings. Black Knight has it's issues but at least it's story is entertaining and doesn't have Sonic downplaying "being imprisoned and tortured for months" in Forces. These are just my opinions. Not trying to hate or try to change anyone's mind here I'm just giving my 2 cents on these two. Also... For me smooth controls and story are what needs to be good in a game for me which is why Black Knight is still placed fairly low for me because it lacks in the former. I respect his opinion and see why he said that. I just kinda hate Forces for many reasons. The "placing Forces above any game but Secret Rings and 06 is the ultimate disrespect" or however I worded it was an exaggeration just to make it a tad funny. I wasn't seriously accusing him of disrespecting Black Knight since I don't think he did.
I Can see where you coming from but for me a game is a game. I Can go all in and say why Mario sunshine has a weird plot but that not going to change my opinion on the game. A game Can have a good story but that Will mean that The incridebels the video game is a fantastic game because it has a great story but the gameplay is not very good.
You should have tried the PS2/Wii version. I had a lot of fun with it and I honestly think that although it is considered the "secondary" version, it is still the most balanced and I'm not really in the mood to describe more of the game right now, but I can tell you this: none of those problems you mention actually exist in that version, only the graphics are obviously simpler and the game design is more adjusted to the respective consoles aswell (so you may like the day stages less if you compare with the better-console version), but you probably will like the night stages more (I personally do like them much, much more).
personally i cant agree with unleashed for 2 reasons, 1. it was below sonic lost world, 2. i don't think the levels are too fast. in fact i feel they're perfect speeds because it allows replayability in the sense that you learn the level and then the satisfaction of speeding through these locations without hitting anything to stop you
I am under the honest to god belief that Secret Rings and even Black Knight could be AWESOME with modern controls. Cut out all the experimental motion BS and you're left with a solid story, great music and possibly awesome movement!
List was pretty good. I would definitely put unleashed ps3/xbox over lost world but i can understand why you placed it where you did. I also like SA1 over SA2 because of it being my first sonic game ever and it will always be my favorite sonic due to nostalgia. That being said tho, I wouldn’t have ranked SA1 as a better game than SA2. Yea the treasure hunting stages can be dragging (especially meteor herd and mad space), but 2/3 of the game is still great and it tells a moderate story that may have loopholes when you go in depth with buts its still enjoyable. SA1 has 6 storylines and honestly only 4 of them are enjoyable and only 3 of them are important to the story and big threat of the game. Yea you can say you can pick who you want to play as and just play that character story and stages but in order to fully progress through the game and beat it, you have to play those others story that may not have nothing to do with the plot at all and have no real importance to the story the game is trying to tell. SA2 is a full package where everything syncs up to the story and there’s reasoning for every character and its stages unlike SA1 where you have to fish for a frog as if that has any relevance to the water god you have to fight at the end of the game. But overall tho the list was great, sorry for the rant.
Saying a Sonic game is a bit too fast is like saying Dead Space is a bit too scary, or Skyrim is a bit to open world, or Doom is a bit too action packed. It doesn’t make sense. There is a level select in Unleashed when you beat the game.
It pretty refreshing. You see a lot of people nowadays saying that Unleashed is Underated and it the best Sonic game and Generations is overated Even do Generations improves a lot of what Unleashed did. I feel like when the Adventure fans became adults they want to share What they think is Sonic. Which there is nothing wrong with but i find the opinons Weird. 06 Is objectivly a bad game with problems those it had good yes and i do enjoy it but there is no denying that the game has problems. Sa2 is peak. Gens classic sonic doesn't control as good as he should like sonic mania does, and Boost sonic is boost sonic. Aka not so great. Still solid level design, solid game. Just not peak definitely top 5. But There's more to sa2 than generations has going for it. There isn't a better 3D sonic game than Adventure 2. You can nitpick all damn day, get your mob of younglings born after 2005 and tell me the mech stages blah blah blah knuckles levels are too tedious. You counted the Story Book games and not Shadow the Hedgehog, which is arguably more mainline because Shadow's story is linked to the other games while the story book series is its own thing.

I actually think that Colors is SUPER Overated, I think this game is boring af and basically just Day time stages of Unleashed but simplified, I hate how you can't drift and quickstep whenever you want and only in pre determined areas, the story is super childish and simple and the game is super short, I honestly don't know how tf people praise this shit so much... Maybe because people think the gameplay is fun or something? Idk, I think it's boring and Unleashed executed this gameplay style a thousand times better imo
Finally a list I 100% agree with. Colours and Generations are the most polished, yet high quality.. Adventure and Adventure 2 are both amazing, but they feel a bit strange if compared to Generations. I'm talking objectively with the nostalgia aside, otherwise I would have put Sonic adventure at the top obviously

Ok, I’m sorry, but you didn’t count Boom, but you counted Secret Rings and Black Knight? If you’re gonna count those two because they are definitively spin-offs, you either count Boom or don’t count SR and BK.
Most people say Adventure aged poorly because of the fact they grew up with the DX version, which for some reason they based every port from that point on with which is dumb. The game has worse graphics and effects than the original, with stuff like the lighting engine being replaced and textures being replaced with worse versions or new ones that also look bad or boring. Although, there has been an attempt to save the reputation of the game through restoration mods, which make the game look like the Dreamcast version and sometimes even better, with widescreen, optimised 60fps and remaking some of the features DX added into better ones. An example is a HD version of DX's water graphic, which looks better than the original and fits the renders well.
Unleashed is incredibly polished and easily the best game in the series imo

Unleashed was slow at so many points, but honestly it felt so worth it making to the final boss. Then the final boss killed me so many times that I couldn’t finish the game XD
Looking back still worth it for those day time stages and bosses before the final boss!
That final boss was the first time ever I raged quit in a game but when I finally beat it oh man, the Super Sonic boss is hands down one of the greatest most satisfying boss fights ever.
Honestly I feel unleashed is 50% night and 50% day. It just depends on who plays it because night stages take 2-7 minutes to beat for me.

I don’t think there’s a single night level that took me less than 20. Even if you can beat it much quicker, you still need to find most of the sun and moon medals in each stage or else you’ll get stuck later.

Unleashed is one of those games where it requires you to master the stages in order for it to be fun
And this is coming from someone who's had this game since launch, ever since I was a little kid.
On a first playthrough, it can be brutal. Especially the werehog and medals. But if you take the time to master the combo list and properly upgrade the Werehog, it's a really fun brawler, and the day stages are so satisfying if you can get a smooth run with an S rank.
Thing is, the game has to be fun for me to choose to play it again to "get good at it"

@GrassyBoy That's a major problem with Unleashed. The game is not fun on a first playthrough with the reasons you stated and the level design. It tried to incorporate how the Classic Sonic games worked with the game getting more fun as you master it, but the levels are far more punishing for first time players and the camera during 2D sections is somehow worse than the classic games. I've just played Unleashed recently and found it to be pretty average. With how my first playthrough went, my desire to replay the game is very low. A game should be fun on its first playthrough since why would you want to play a game that isn't fun?

Honestly, I really like the treasure hunting levels in SA2. It's not just waiting for your radar to blink, it's memorizing the level elements and using the hints to track down the exact location as fast as possible.

Literally all of you are playing it wrong. Don't rely on the blinking itself, rely on the range, the emerald radar detects really far, so if the thing isn't blinking in one huge segment of the level, then it isn't there, so no need to stay long. It makes levels like aquatic mine and Pumpkin hill cake walks since you minimized backtracking. Even with the worst rng, you can finish those levels in 5 mins.
The dude on the top is right, none of you guys have the patience to play the game well. If you guys did, and figured out that the range is op, you guys would have a better time on the emerald stages.
I've managed to finish Aquatic mine and got the water breathing upgrade in 3 minutes.

My main problem with the night stages in unleashed is how it doesn't force you to pull off different combos- which leads to people doing the same move over and over- and then blaming the game for having "boring combat".
What i have noticed from all my friends playing, is that they never block. So that could be another reason why everyone hates it
It’s because there are like one or two combos that are wayyyy better than anything else. The only way I can reliably kill anything is with the drill combo. Every lets play of unleashed I’ve ever watched abuses that combo as well. Everything else aside from that and the cartwheel combo (don’t know what it’s called) is just not as good

Sonic Adventure 2 will probably always be my favorite sonic game. Generations is a very close second. I don’t like the knuckles and rouge stages, but I love the sonic and shadow stages and enjoy the mech stages. What puts SA2 above Generations for me is the story and chao world. Not gonna lie, i actually have a bit of a soft spot for Forces. It's the first Sonic game I ever played, as i didn't really get into the series until quarantine, and because of that i didn't really have any expectations going into it and ended up finding it pretty enjoyable because of it. Of course now, having played many other Sonic games, i know that Forces really doesn't hold up against them. But, since it was my first one, rather than being disappointed by it I just see it as letting me appreciate the other games more.
Also, very happy to see that most people agree that Generations is one of the best games in the series. That game is awesome. I just wish the final boss was a bit better

I have sonic unleashed since i was a kid for the ps2. It's a great game. I enjoy both the day and night stages. It just feels so damm satisfying when beating up the enemies in the night stages. The music is great. And damm those cinematic are awsome and make the sonic movies look like nothing.

12: Forces(too boring and failed hype when the premise was so interesting, that's the worst bit about the game for me)
11: Lost World(never played it, it doesn't look that bad, but it isn't a must buy either)
10: Shadow the hedgehog(while the gameplay is better, this story is ass and drags on way too long)
9: Secret Rings(I have nostalgic memories with this one, but it controls badly and the mission structure not guiding you on what missions to do got frustrating very quickly)
8. Colours(I can see the anger coming, but no, this game is dull and it has one of the worst stories in a Sonic game and the gameplay gets extremely repetitive, its also too easy)
7: Black Knight(Secret Rings done right, but unfortunately its too short, love the story and characters though)
6: Generations(has a similar issue, good gameplay and a whole bunch of content especially on PC, but its too short and easy, coupled with a nothing plot, still a good game)

I’m going to disagree with you on 06 not being a glitchy mess, because it absolutely is.
The cutscenes in Sonic Adventures are beyond legendary, I mean the amount of RUclips poops based on them is amazing
1. I 100% agree with everything you said about Unleashed. I never understood all the hate it got. Sure the Werehog levels felt like they took a long time, but imo, it was an interesting change of pace. Seriously, until Generations came out, I haven't had so much fun playing a Sonic game since Heroes.
2. Speaking of Heroes, while I WILL admit that it's a mess as I'm looking back on it, it was (imo) what I think a Sonic game should be like: Fast paced and quick on your toes. I also liked the idea of having to think of the best and quickest way(s) to beat your enemies and I like games like that.
3. My reasons for preferring SA2 over SA1 is the story and "high speed linear action", but mainly the character development for everyone, especially Shadow. I was 16 when SA2 came and from the moment I saw Shadow, I instantly loved him. Back then, he had such a mysterious vibe and I LOVED it.

Been a while since I caught one of your videos but congrats on 40k. My best 3D Sonics are a pretty generic answer. Colours and Generations. I like Adventure 1 despite some ageing. The rest I could do without.
The reason I place SA2 higher than SA1 is because the playable characters, despite only have 3 gameplay styles instead of 6 like in SA1, feel much more fleshed out with far more to do. Sonic Adventure 1 clearly revolved mainly around Sonic with the other characters feeling like an afterthought, with much shorter or fewer levels. The characters get half the amount of game time at most that Sonic gets with characters like Tails, and hardly a quarter of it with characters like Amy. This sucks cause, with the exception of Big (and I really don't like that Big is in this game), these characters are super fun to play with.
If SA1 let you play as all the characters in Sonic's stages then that would make up for it, but they don't. You can mod the PC version to do it, and it's a fun time. I consider SA1 a good game that should have been great but they didn't utilize it's full potential when developing it. SA2 is a solid package that both improves and unfortunately worsens a few aspects of SA1 and the treasure hunting took a long time to get used to but I like that game so much more now because it feels so much more complex than SA1. Mad Space is genuinely a terrible level, however.
It's the other way around. The characters in sa2 were an afterthought. That's why their stages suck.
@@SuzukiCabs Despite the development of SA2 implying that was originally the case, the end result does not reflect that. Each character in SA2 has completely original stages or level design while Tails and Knuckles from SA1 just take one portion of Sonic's stages and make them either a super quick race or place some emeralds around, these levels take next to no time to beat and there's hardly any of them. Sometimes SA2 is too challenging, but SA1 for Tails and Knuckles have zero challenge.

It’s not about them making Sonic go fast it’s how they does it. Sonic going speed boost fast needs to be optional. Some of us want to explore. Speed boosting throughout the entire game with no control over sonic get boring real fast. Again I’m not saying they should take speed boost off but it needs to be our choice to make him speed boost. Rail gliding without building speed or having balance also gets boring and makes it less risky. This is what the adventure games got right

As someone who grew up with the PS2 version of Unleashed, I liked that version and that it excels over the HD in some areas. No forced medal collecting as in the PS2 version it's just for collecting goodies in Gaia Gates. Eggmanland, dreadful and too too long in the HD one, is split into several mini missions. The night levels are basically 3 to 5 mini levels at like 8 min at most from my experience as opposed to like 30 min on the HD version. Graphically the HD one is better but I think both versions are fine. The werehog concept and execution sucked ass tho. I hated that. Who asked for sonic with combat? He's about speed. You can replace the night levels with Knuckles brawler levels and it would be way better. I still think Unleashed is a 50/50 game at best, a game that has more flaws than goods.

I might be biased and I respect your opinion, but one thing about Sonic Unleashed I disagree on is the idea that it should have a level select. I personally love the hub world and while I may not talk to the NPCs that much when it isn't necessary, I think giving the players a choice to do that is pretty nice and I don't think the parts where you have to talk to NPCs are that obtrusive or long. I like it for the immersion and story purposes, if that makes sense. It helps you understand the world you are traveling and get attached to it, so you have more of a motivation to save it. Also, I love that the places you travel are based on real life places and I think it's just nice and relaxing to hang out in them before you get to the actual levels.
That's just how I see it, though. I understand that if you already don't like stuff in this game, the hub world might make the issues feel worse.

I can understand Colors but I really can't understand Lost World. Lost World to me is only slightly better than Forces.
Honestly, play the ps2/wii version of Unleashed. It may not be as graphically impressive but gameplay wise it is far more enjoyable due to it being more streamlined and simplified.
Yeah, Unleashed SD is better than the HD one. Definitely a lot less frustrating

Love how half the bad stuff about Unleashed is exclusive to the HD version and I completely agree with those problems. The Wii/PS2 version is much superior, trust me. The Night stages tend to be broken up and the longest I remember spending on one is 13 minutes(as opposed to a half hour), the final boss is much more fun to fight, the hub world visits are made much shorter since it's just a menu where you talk to people(and can skip text if you like) then head into the Gaia Temple. Yeah, there is some filler missions in there but I'll take those over the problems in the HD version any day. I highly recommend the SD Version of Sonic Unleashed. Also, Eggmanland is not 50 friggin' minutes on the SD Version. It's several levels like a traditional Sonic game.
Also, placing Forces above Black Knight is the highest level of disrespect you can give any game in the series unless it's 06, Rise of Lyric, or Secret Rings. Black Knight has it's issues but at least it's story is entertaining and doesn't have Sonic downplaying "being imprisoned and tortured for months" in Forces. These are just my opinions. Not trying to hate or try to change anyone's mind here I'm just giving my 2 cents on these two.

@@themissingbits6375 I get that, it's why I specified that I'm not here to change anyone's opinion or hate here. I judge games differently than him and I get everyone has different priorities. For me smooth controls and story are what needs to be good in a game for me which is why Black Knight is still placed fairly low for me because it lacks in the former. I respect his opinion and see why he said that. I just kinda hate Forces for many reasons. The "placing Forces above any game but Secret Rings and 06 is the ultimate disrespect" or however I worded it was an exaggeration just to make it a tad funny. I wasn't seriously accusing him of disrespecting Black Knight since I don't think he did.
I Can see where you coming from but for me a game is a game. I Can go all in and say why Mario sunshine has a weird plot but that not going to change my opinion on the game. A game Can have a good story but that Will mean that The incridebels the video game is a fantastic game because it has a great story but the gameplay is not very good.

You should have tried the PS2/Wii version. I had
a lot of fun with it and I honestly think that although it is considered the "secondary" version, it is still the most balanced and I'm not really in the mood to describe more of the game right now, but I can tell you this: none of those problems you mention actually exist in that version, only the graphics are obviously simpler and the game design is more adjusted to the respective consoles aswell (so you may like the day stages less if you compare with the better-console version), but you probably will like the night stages more (I personally do like them much, much more).

personally i cant agree with unleashed for 2 reasons, 1. it was below sonic lost world, 2. i don't think the levels are too fast. in fact i feel they're perfect speeds because it allows replayability in the sense that you learn the level and then the satisfaction of speeding through these locations without hitting anything to stop you
I am under the honest to god belief that Secret Rings and even Black Knight could be AWESOME with modern controls. Cut out all the experimental motion BS and you're left with a solid story, great music and possibly awesome movement!

List was pretty good. I would definitely put unleashed ps3/xbox over lost world but i can understand why you placed it where you did. I also like SA1 over SA2 because of it being my first sonic game ever and it will always be my favorite sonic due to nostalgia. That being said tho, I wouldn’t have ranked SA1 as a better game than SA2. Yea the treasure hunting stages can be dragging (especially meteor herd and mad space), but 2/3 of the game is still great and it tells a moderate story that may have loopholes when you go in depth with buts its still enjoyable. SA1 has 6 storylines and honestly only 4 of them are enjoyable and only 3 of them are important to the story and big threat of the game. Yea you can say you can pick who you want to play as and just play that character story and stages but in order to fully progress through the game and beat it, you have to play those others story that may not have nothing to do with the plot at all and have no real importance to the story the game is trying to tell. SA2 is a full package where everything syncs up to the story and there’s reasoning for every character and its stages unlike SA1 where you have to fish for a frog as if that has any relevance to the water god you have to fight at the end of the game.
But overall tho the list was great, sorry for the rant.

Saying a Sonic game is a bit too fast is like saying Dead Space is a bit too scary, or Skyrim is a bit to open world, or Doom is a bit too action packed. It doesn’t make sense. There is a level select in Unleashed when you beat the game.

You see a lot of people nowadays saying that Unleashed is Underated and it the best Sonic game and Generations is overated Even do Generations improves a lot of what Unleashed did. Sa2 is peak. Gens classic sonic doesn't control as good as he should like sonic mania does, and Boost sonic is boost sonic. Aka not so great. Still solid level design, solid game. Just not peak definitely top 5. But There's more to sa2 than generations has going for it. There isn't a better 3D sonic game than Adventure 2. You can nitpick all damn day, get your mob of younglings born after 2005 and tell me the mech stages blah blah blah knuckles levels are too tedious. Yeah but that's what makes that damn game so classic. It dared to be different. And they nailed it. Also shadow

I played both for the first time and while Adventure 2 has a lot of charm, Generations just wins gameplay wise hands down, imo.

I actually think that Colors is SUPER Overated, I think this game is boring af and basically just Day time stages of Unleashed but simplified, I hate how you can't drift and quickstep whenever you want and only in pre determined areas, the story is super childish and simple and the game is super short, I honestly don't know how tf people praise this shit so much... Maybe because people think the gameplay is fun or something? Idk, I think it's boring and Unleashed executed this gameplay style a thousand times better imo

Colours and Generations are the most polished, yet high quality.. Adventure and Adventure 2 are both amazing, but they feel a bit strange if compared to Generations. I'm talking objectively with the nostalgia aside, otherwise I would have put Sonic adventure at the top obviously

It’s not the worst when you consider other games had less effort put into them.
Most people say Adventure aged poorly because of the fact they grew up with the DX version, which for some reason they based every port from that point on with which is dumb. The game has worse graphics and effects than the original, with stuff like the lighting engine being replaced and textures being replaced with worse versions or new ones that also look bad or boring. Although, there has been an attempt to save the reputation of the game through restoration mods, which make the game look like the Dreamcast version and sometimes even better, with widescreen, optimised 60fps and remaking some of the features DX added into better ones. An example is a HD version of DX's water graphic, which looks better than the original and fits the renders well.
