    For basculegion, the required 294 damage was actually related to the idea that some of the basculins died during their trip to the upper section of the river and turned into souls with hatred that surround the evolved ones. I think that the linking cable item from PLA should be a mainstay at this point in the series, so that you don’t necessarily have to trade something like a haunter for gengar, all you need to do is use the item. Keeping the trade option is nice, but having the cable item is also good.

    • @serenaleone722

      Making the link cable expensive or difficult to aquire would also stop whining over that option being availible - if you don't want to bother grinding currency or something, buy Nintendo Online and work out a touch trade.

    I always feel like I'm in the minority that preferred the beauty stat method of evolving feebas over simply trading with the hold item, simply because I prefer to be able to evolve a pokemon on my own and not have to either hunt someone down to get them to trade with me or have to pull out another cartridge and system.

    • @XXXmarquise
      @XXXmarquise 10 месяцев назад +62

      I am with you there. I think that the beauty stat requirement was unique and could be done with other Pokémon too. If they were going to change it they could have made it so Feebas evolves just using the Prism Scale

      @revive5127 8 месяцев назад +4

      Same. I got a feebas from trade in BDSP and evolved it before the 3rd gym. Never made poffins before, but it’s actually really easy

    • @greninjamariokartpokemonfan
      @greninjamariokartpokemonfan 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Jonathan-us1quLike, seriously, you will find and catch a Shiny Magikarp before you find a Feebas. In the first five generations, the odds of finding a Shiny are 1 in 8,192. That is a 0.01220703125% chance of finding one in the wild. The odds are so low. Feebas is also stupidly hard to find in the Hoenn games.
      And do you want to know what else sucks about Feebas in the Hoenn and Sinnoh games? The way it evolves. They could have had it evolve through leveling up, leveling up with high friendship, reaching a certain level with its Special Attack and/or Special Defense being higher than its Attack and/or Defense, trading, or even trading while holding an item. Honestly, the last one I mentioned is how it evolves as of Generation 5, and it should have been that way from the start. Trading while holding an item is annoying, but at least it's better than having to raise Feebas's Beauty condition.
      Feebas will only evolve once its Beauty condition reaches 170 or higher and then levels up, and you raise this metric by either making dry tasting PokeBlocks or Poffins. You can't just make them whenever, you have to go to Contest Halls in order to use the Berry Blender or the Poffin House to make the Poffins. Then, you have to play a minigame in which you need to do well to get good level, and with other people to get good feel. You better hope your Feebas doesn't have a nature that dislikes the dry flavor, because if it does, it will get less of a Beauty benefit from each snack. And the worst part is that feeding PokeBlocks or Poffins to a Pokemon increases its Sheen, and once that value maxes out, it won't eat anymore, so if you don't get your Feebas's Beauty condition high enough before it stops eating, you have to release that Feebas into the wild, catch another one, hope it has a nature that likes the dry flavor, and try again.
      I haven't even mentioned Berries yet, as Gen 3 relies on a battery for clock based events to occur, but if your battery runs dry, Berries can't grow in your game anymore, unless you replace the battery. Oh, except for the fact that doing that resets the clock, and no new clock based events can occur until the battery gets to where the previous one left off, meaning you won't be able to grow Berries until that happens anyway. There are so many factors as to how evolving Feebas works, and I'm probably making it sound next to impossible, but God, does everything surrounding getting Milotic suck balls.

      When I first saw Gholdengo after I evolved my Gimmighoul, I thought it was kinda weird and not at all what I expected it to look like.
      But after seeing its volume image and how it moves around, by riding a SKATEBOARD MADE OF GOLD COINS, I instantly liked it a lot more and think it actually looks really cool, even with the dreadlocks and the low belt, like a cool skater dude.
      Also, it low key reminds me of the robots from Stray, coz they are robots that think and act like humans, wear clothes and even play sports and some even have "hair cuts", made of like metal or wires which is pretty creative. Plus their interactions with the cat are adorable.
      So I was thinking of them when looking at Gholdengo's dreadlocks, belt and skateboard, plus being a Steel-type (actually a *Gold*-type) and robots are made of metal, so... yeah.

    You know what always made me think when it comes to Milotic, is that they only did the evolution from a contest stat once. I mean, yeah its annoying to have to max out Beauty, but the fact none of the other contest stats were used just is interesting to me. Also no one seems to talk about it either. Let's say, for instance, Feebas could evolve based on whichever of its contest stats hit 170 first? Like I wonder what a Cool, Clever, Cute, or Tough Milotic would be like? Would they be Water/? types, or like Milotic would they be mono-types? All mono-water with difference moves learned and stat distributions? Or maybe they'd each be aquatic but be mono-typed without being Water, like Tough would be a Fighting-type, Cute would be a Fairy-type, etc.

    Feebas -> Milotic in Gen 3 on the GBA was a nightmare:
    1) catching Feebas that only appears on 1 tile on a long route with 100+ tiles and that tile switches every day or something so you never know where it is.
    So you have to FISH with a rod on EVERY tile 1-2x until you get one (because not 100% encounter rate)
    2) Feed it with berries as described in this video which takes a lot of days as you need to grow certain rare berries.

    I think Gimmighoul gets a pass - they needed something special for pokemon 1000, plus it's an evolution method that actually encourages you to explore and seek out new towers and/or little roaming form ghouls. Is it annoying and time consuming if you want early game Gholdengo? Sure. But unlike the other methods in this list, if your goal is just to complete the pokedex and/or to use Gholdengo later in the game, either you will already have enough coins, or getting the incremental coins you need will require minimal effort.

      Feebas evolves with a Beauty condition of 170 or higher, and 255 is the max. Also, even if you make a PokeBlock or Poffin with good feel and level, if your Pokemon doesn't like the flavor you're going for, it will be 10% less effective. What determines whether your Pokemon likes or dislikes a given flavor? Its Nature, which is random. Let's say your Feebas has a Careful, Adamant, Impish, or Jolly nature. It's going to hate PokeBlocks or Poffins it needs in order to evolve, meaning it takes more Berries to make it evolve.
      Inversely, even if you make a trash PokeBlock or Poffin with bad feel and level, if your Pokemon likes the flavor you're going for, it will be 10% more effective. Again, using Feebas, let's say it has a Quiet, Modest, Mild, or Rash nature. It's going to enjoy PokeBlocks or Poffins it needs in order to evolve, meaning it doesn't take as many Berries to make it evolve.

    I think the reason I never had problems with Galarian Sirfetchd is because I used it in a gym battle and like an anime main character team moment, it evolved from that battle. It was part of my playthrough team and I don't even know if I was aware of it's evolution, but it's possible I was and I was purposefully bringing it along to as many fights as I could so that I could give it the chances to crit as often as possible. I also got lucky with mine as it had a leek from the jump.

    Edit: I will agree that without the internet, you’d never figure it out. However, prior to any playthrough of a Pokémon game, I do extensive research on the Pokémon Database. I plan out the six Pokémon I intend to use on my team, write down their location, and (most pertinent to this) their evolution requirements. While the running evolutions are annoying, one way to circumvent their slow speed is to run in circles. The best way to do this is in a town/city so that you don’t get random Pokémon battles. This is useful for two reasons:
    A. The Pokémon won’t de-spawn from the distance
    B. It’s much less time consuming since you don’t have to stop for the Pokémon to catch up. At most i spent like 3 minutes on each Pokémon running to have them evolve

      The Basculan one makes no sense though "Just keep hurting yourself and you'll become a stronger pokemon, ok?" Kind of creates a negative message for kids who have serious mental problems

      @@demonprincess9680 something about them needing to get tougher because of the thousands of their brethren that died doing the same. Makes zero sense

    To evolve Feebas in Diamond, it was my second playthrough and I had to pick berries and replant blue ones throughout the world until I had beaten most gyms, and then go back and pick every berry I had planted to make enough blocks to get there.
    I basically had to know to do that from the start of the game.
    Also, why say Arkoose?
