What a perfect tutorial! I’m a fairly new knitter- I crochet better. I am trying to make my first knitted garment. Going to purchase petite knit cardigan not sure the name but it’s this stitch. Not scared anymore after watching your video. Thank you! ❤
Thank you Brittany for the tutorial. Very nice and simple, very well explained introductions. I’m going to make a blanket for myself. I have been waiting to see something nice and easy for me to knit in front of the tv. I can knit and relax at the same time. I wish you could teach us some cables. I love them. Even though I have been knitting for 41 years, I still intimidated when I knit them. Thank you very much! You’re very special teacher! I’m a big fan! ❤️🧶
Hi Rosangela! Thank you so much for the kind words 😄 I would love to help you more with knitting cables. They're one of my favorite things to knit! Have you seen this tutorial yet? ruclips.net/video/A7_Huc7lArs/видео.html It runs you through some basic cable info that I think you'll find useful. I'm all ears if you have a specific cable you want to learn!
B.Hooked Crochet & Knitting you’re very much welcome! You deserve it! You’re very sweet! I will check it out. I think I have some pictures of some projects and I will try to send to you! ❤️❤️
Nice pattern and clear instructions. I knit and crochet lap blankets and shawls for Hospice patients. I like simple patterns that are quick to work up so this pattern will be a good one to use.
I'm actually working on a baby blanket using this particular stitch pattern, except I'm working a garter stitch border and doing an 8 row repeat. It makes the basket weave pattern look a lot shorter, but it still works pretty good. Thanks for another version of the same pattern.
Great instructions and ty! I am learning to knit and making purses with each type stitch I learn to make. I make purse swatch to size and then line them in matching fabric and add handle. Might do this one in throw as well...easy but looks complicated!
Hello! I got lost on row 9 cause k1 (end) P3 k2 then p1... then repeat... soo... it'll be 4 purls after the 2 knits? I was gonna look at the pattern but it says it's unavailable now. 😔
I would love to make a blanket out of this stitch pattern. My grandmother made our baby a beautiful blanket out of the basket weave and I would love to make another one myself for sure! Just not sure how to adapt the pattern for larger basket patches. If you have tips I would love to hear them!
On row 9 you knit 1st stitch then p3, k2, p1. Then is the pattern k1, p3,k2,p1 or just p3k2p1…so I guess what im asking is the 1st and last stitch part of the pattern that is repeated on the whole row?
Looks like row 9 is problematic for a few of us. Soni understand after knitting 1st ST that we purl3, knit 2, purl 1, then repeat purl3, knit 2, ourl 1. However when i get towards the end, I purl 3, then am left with 4 stitches. So do I only knit 1, purl 2 then knit edge stitch??
Thank you very much for the great video, I loved it. I tried the link for the written pattern and it does not work. Can you please send me the correct link. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much. Being able to follow this video alongside the written pattern is helping me to learn how to read patterns better. I hope I am skilled enough to pull this off on my circular needles! :)
How many rows are there and how can I get the whole pattern. Video. I have only been knitting for a short period of time Would love the whole video to watch it I've never done this before this stitch
Hey I tried it for myself!! You're supposed to skip the knit 1... means after you finish the purl 1, you're gonna have to start with purl 3... which basically means it's gonna be purl 4 and knit 2.. I hope this helps!❤❤❤
Really appreciate the tutorial! I'm making a baby blanket. Is there a way to do this where the basket weave is a little bigger? For example, doing multiples of 10?
I have been trying to get this pattern down but somehow when I start row 3 I end up with more stitches! I’m not sure if when I purl it’s going right. Please send help! 🙂
Great tutorial. I prefer to slip my last stitch. Can I just slip the last stitch in place of the knit? Or will that mess up the pattern? Also, do you have a hat/beanie tutorial with this same basket weave?
I tried to look up your pattern on the link in the description area and it says not available. Can you send it to me or post it? I want to make a blanket using basket weave stitch. It is beautiful
How would this pattern work for a blanket ? Your pattern is for 22 stitches so how would this work for a larger blanket? Is it 6+2 multiplying that for the width so then 8? Or is it just 6 multiplying for width then + 2 and then + 2 ? I can’t find anywhere that explains the stitch pattern better

Ok I’m a bit confused someone please kindly explain, if we are suppose to alwys end and begin our stitch with a knit then what do we do whn it’s knit the knits and purl the purls and we end with purls not a knit? Thank you soo much in advance
Greetings! I'm one of your crochet watchers and learning knit. I have a question on this stitch pattern. You stated a few times that you added edge stitches and you would always knit both edges. However, on Row 4, it looks like you chose to pearl the beginning edge. Is that so or have I misunderstood?
I followed the link to the written instructions and this was extremely helpful for me. I saw the same thing and the written instructions answered all my questions. 😊good luck and be safe.
When you get to the last three stitches on row 1, you say to knit all three, but when I get to the last three stitches, I still have two purls left in the pattern. Do I just stop the purls and knit instead?
I wanna knit a blanket in this pattern. I wanna do it with 2 colors at the same time but I don't know how as I'm still fairly new at knitting. Anyone got any tips?
I’m knitting a blanket with about one hundred cast ons. Do I cast on 2 extra stitches for every 6 stitches, our do I just cast on in multiples of 6, then add two extra at the end plus two more for the finished edges? So far my casts ons are not right! Thanks so much!

Hi Kim! Hopefully I can help make more sense of turning this stitch into a pattern for ya 😉 Since everyone's knitting style is a little unique, it's best if you make a gauge swatch first. That way you can get accurate measurements for the yarn you're using while factoring in how you typically knit. When you have your swatch, block it if you plan to block the finished blanket. Then take your measurements - how many stitches per 2 or 4 inches and how many rows per the same measurement (2 or 4 inches). Take your desired blanket width in inches and divide it by your swatch width measurement (2 or 4 inches) and then multiply by the number of stitches in that measurement. That will tell you how many stitches should be in each row. In other words, how many to cast on. If this number is divisible by 6 (the stitch pattern multiple) add 4 cast on stitches so it works out as it should. If it is not divisible by 6, round up or down to the closest number that is. That's the hard part honestly. You can do a similar calculation to see exactly how many rows to knit for the length of the blanket but for the sake of simplicity, if it were me, I would continue knitting until it's the length I want and follow through with the bind off when I reach that point. Keep in mind, it's easier to bind off on a row 1 or a row 7 (of the repeat) since they're all knit stitches. I hope this helps! Definitely got me thinking I need a tutorial to explain this thoroughly in one spot 😄
