I can’t begin to thank you enough for this amazing tutorial. I was desperate for an affordable hobby to alleviate my anxiety and tried knitting. It was a major fail then I thought crochet might be a good alternative. I have watched many videos and they were difficult to catch up with until I got to this wonderful tutorial. It was easy to follow and it’s been 4 months and I’m so proud to say, I’m a crocheter. But I wanted to stop by to just write a big expression of gratitude because if it hadn’t been for this basket weave, I would’ve given up. Thank you so so much Bella Coco for taking the time to record this and make it accessible to people like myself.

I started a couple of years ago and I love it, too. I had to laugh out loud when I read the affordable part 😅 Yes, it can totally be cheap, but, oh man, it can be so expensive, too 😂😂😂

@ hHHaa I know!!! A year later and yes it’s super expensive but you got to wait for the sales to get stocked up. It’s also super addictive and I’ve run out of people to give crocheted things to. I’m talking like deli ladies at the supermarket, I’m really scraping the barrel 😂

My grandmother, mother and aunt have tried to teach me how to crochet and failed. I was looking for a hobby that would help me relax and I saw your videos so I gave it a try. I just finished my very first blanket (and second project as a whole), for my mother and she loved it. So first timers bloopers - it's very large. Wish I could include a pic, I'm very proud of it. Thanks so m7ch. Would love a tutorial for a shawl with a lacey look but for beginners like me.

I’ve been working at the same grocery store for the past 33 years. It was about six weeks ago I watched your video of how to make a granny square and I’m currently making one of gold and ivory big enough to fit my queen size bed. Just yesterday a lady and her newborn baby came through my line with a crocheted blanket made with a stitch I’d never seen. She told me that she made it! This morning on my RUclips feed I saw the same stitch from this tutorial. A whole new world has opened up for me and I am enjoying every minute of it! :-)

Sometimes, it's just a question of what you want showing up in your feed more than not liking the video itself. Not liking a video means you'll see less content of a similar nature. From what I've seen, only the British use British terminology, the rest of the world uses US terms, so a dislike means they'll see less British, not that they hate the stitch or the video itself. Lol, long-winded explanation, but I hope it helps

It is also a personal choice regarding the size, maybe you could chain until you get to the width you want it to be by laying it across you knee? I found your video after buying new yarn to start a project based on another video tutorial but she went so quickly and used such thin yarn and such a tiny hook, I couldn't see what she was doing. I've been crocheting for over 30 years, so it's not like I'm new to this. I was so frustrated, I was almost ready to set my new yarn on fire. LOL
I appreciate that you demonstrate every step at a slow enough pace to follow, and even multiple times. I've just made a sample but I'll now be starting a larger basket weave piece. Thank you very much!

Thanks I made a 9" x 9" square. I'm new to crocheting. I'm thinking about making a baby blanket in this stitch. I'm going to be a grandmother in about 4 months. I hadn't crocheted for over 35 years. I'm learning so much off youtube videos. Thanks for showing me how.
