    This is a pattern I really like. It has visual interest without being frilly, and it's something a guy can crochet & wear. I've watched just about every basket weave crochet video I could find, including a 1 x 1 version, and for me yours is about the clearest and best I've seen. I can only think of one other creator whose stitches came off the hook so evenly and precisely! Thanks for the beautiful stitches and great video!

      I love the border you chose! You are absolutely right, this pattern has SO much detail that a border with even more detail would just be too much. Hi Tiffany, this is a great tutorial it helped me understand the formula for this stitch. I started watching because I was looking for a different pattern to make 8” squares. I’m working on squares to make blankets for Project Linus. I used C2C to make some squares but I wanted a little variation in the squares. Using your formula I kept coming up with 7” squares. Putting my thinking cap on and using your break down I figured out how to make them 8”. I basically used your numbers but added 2 stitches. Then at beginning and end of each row I did 2 DC. (Turning ch and DC) it gave me the extra inch. Now I’m hoping to find 1 more 8” pattern same density. Thanks so much any suggestions welcome

      Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked my tutorial. Great idea for a border around the Basketweave stitch. I’ll add it to my tutorial list though I cannot promise you when I’ll be able to get that tutorial out. With the amount of detail included in this stitch I might use a solid plain border to showcase what’s going on in the inner body. Like a sc/or Hdc/ or Dc border.

      Oh, great question! Not one that is easy to answer. I'd make a swatch using the yarn and crochet hook you would like to make the project with. Then, from that swatch you will be able to figure out how many chains and stitches you will need to begin with, how many rows you will need to make, and even approximately how much yarn you will need to complete the project. To learn how to get all that information from a swatch, check out my Swatch Series here on RUclips. Here's a link to it: ruclips.net/p/PL6HRmAfbRXTUBW5tlXJI69Ga2sUmKFBf_

    For the foundation row, assuming I did 3 8s followed by 5 and then 2
    When I am done making double crochets in this row, I should have 24 dcs in total?

    Love this! I like to crochet hats bottom up, starting with 2 inches of ribbing and joining to crochet the body of the hat in the round. Would this stitch work in the round? Or does it have to be crocheted flat? Either way, what is the correct way to decrease for the crown?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  3 года назад

      Hi Mary! Oh you could absolutely use this as the bottom of a beanie! To decrease from the crown I would take the number of stitches and divide that number by 4. (Or rounded 4) then decrease by that number and decrease the number each row thereafter until it is a small enough circle. Then weave through the last few stitches and synch them together. I hope that helps. 😊❤️🧶

      GREAT question! I think you just drop that last + 2 because that would be your "turning chain". I haven't played with chainless foundations but I do know you have to be careful with such things as watching the stitch count. Great Job! 😊❤️🧶

    In this video you did 3 & started in the 4th chain from the hook. Do you start in the 4th chain as well when working 4 instead of 3? @crochetwithtiffany

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  10 месяцев назад

      Great question! Yes, you want that first skipped 3 chains to represent your first Dc stitch to help keep the sides of your work straight. 😊🧶❤️

    Thank you for this tutorial. am I right in saying that the stitch count would be multiple of 4 + 7 or multiple of 6 + 7 or multiple of 8 + 7?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Год назад

      Yes! I think that would be a fair assessment based on how many stitches you want in your repeat. 😊❤️🧶

    Can the basket weave pattern be done in a triangle for a headband?

      Hmm, great question.... It might take some playing and figure out how to work decrease rows to get that triangle shape but I bet it could be done. 😊❤️🧶

    Is there a way to make your foundation longer once you have like 6 rows stitched?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  2 года назад +1

      Hi Heather. I don't think you could add any more width to the project aside from working up another piece of work and joining the two together. OR if you are making a blanket you could always make a really thick blanket border to help elongate the width dimension. 😊🧡🧶

    what kind of crochet pattern is best for textured yarn?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  6 месяцев назад

      Great question! I would stick with basic stitches and let the yarn be the star of the show. You could possibly also do a fan or shell. But any post stitch or bobble will often get lost in the texture.

    I've seen other ppl end the row with a half double crochet instead of the double crochet stitch. Would that still work for your pattern?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Год назад

      Great question Jenn! The pattern I was following did not indicate a special last row instruction but making a last row of Hdc stitches would make since and close everything off nicely. Thanks for bringing this up! 😊❤️🧶

    This may be a crazy question but how do you count the rows?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  Год назад +1

      That is a great question Andrea. There should be 2 rows of posts one way and then 2 rows of posts switched. This pattern has a 4 row repeat pattern. Once you know that it might help you to count how many rows you have. 😊❤️🧶

    I tried doing the 2x2 and maybe it should be multiples of 4 plus 4 plus 2. Instead of 5… cuz I couldn’t get it right with that. Unless I’m doing something wrong, I’m kinda new. 😅

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  4 месяца назад +1

      Totally get it. However you can get it to work, go with that! I was following directions from a book but sometimes that can be interpreted different ways. 😊

    • @sunnywahwassuck2238
      @sunnywahwassuck2238 8 дней назад

      I had a hard time too, I’m also doing the 2x2, but what I found out is when you’re doing your multiples of 4, make 4 less chains in the base chain than what you want your end length to be. I wanted 12 chains, so I did 8, then when you skip those 3 base chain stitches at the beginning of your first row and go into the 4th stitch, you will have your 1st double crochet out of those three, leaving 4 extra stitches on the base chain because you chained the additional 5+2, and when you skip the first 3 to begin the row, you’re negating the extra 2, and 1 stitch out of the extra 5 (5-1=4) leaving you with 4. So if I want 12, I do 8 chains (4x2) then +5, +2, and -3 when I turn my work to start my first row, so (7-3=4) and I’ll have 12 total stitches to work. Sorry if that was super confusing, it’s hard to explain, feel free to reply and I can try to word my answer differently. Hope this helps! 😊

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  3 года назад

      Hi Crystal! That first and last Double crochet is super important to help keep your project edges straight. If you are still finding your edges to be not as straight as you would like you can always block your project when you are done and that will help a lot. 😊❤️🧶
