I started this yesterday as a baby blanket for my daughter’s soon-to-be-baby girl, and am loving the result! Thank you for you video and written directions, also. You’re easy to follow and understand.
Randy miller how many stitches did you cast on please I am going to try this pattern to knit a baby blanket but do not know know how many stitches and what length do I finish Thank you xx
Joanne I love learning from you! You teach in a way that is very easy to learn! I love how you explain thing's as you go along. And I love your other video's as well. I'm not sure where you are from but I love your accent! I only wished could sit next to you and learn but this is just as good! Thank you so much for teaching us all these wonderful stitches! I plan on making a afghan quilt like blanket for my bed with many of these wonderful stitches representing each one I learn.
Love this pattern, lot different to others l have seen, going make a baby blanket using lots of wool l have, going slip first stitch on every row so gives me a knit edge for a baby blanket x
Hello - you are such a beautiful knitter - I started a blanket with this pattern and had about 18 inches done and my cat shredded it 😩--back to the drawing board! ❤️
Hello Joanne, I enjoy your teaching. This is the third tutorial I have watched and learned enjoyed learning as I am new in the last 5 months to knitting. I am confused in this pattern. Have gone back 5x's and still am not understanding. The first part of pattern you say knit roll one. Then you are talking during the last row I believe and you say remember we are going to knit one whole roll and pearl one whole roll. I can not find anywhere where you explain to pearl an entire row. I read thru many comments and didn't find this question. Thank you so much for your help. I look forward to many more of your lessons!! Blessings!

Row 7.- P1 *k3, p5* end with p1. Row 8.- K1 *p3, k5* end with k1.
You seem like a wonderful and very knowledgeable duo!! It turns out the tutorial I was watching before this one was giving me the wrong information 😅 Thank you for setting me right!
Hy Joanne i love your videos! i came from a little town in the near from munich. My english is very bad, but i will say you are a very good teacher! i hope you feel well! Have a good time and many wishes from ebersberg. god bless you Sonja 🍀🌺💐🌼
Hi, just wanted to say I tryed to crochet this Basket Weave & I am very disappointed I may have wrote the instructions wrong, I watched a video over & over but my work just don't stand up to your work. it looks like the video for crocheting.. but guess I will have to knit my Basket Weave throw.. so where is your crochet pattern ? just to see how yours looks..I really think I should just stick with you.. :) ....am glad to be able to follow you..
+Imogene Walker Hi...no problem. You can knit it or crochet it. Here is the video on how to crochet a head band. ruclips.net/video/w6ZOjqLTTy4/видео.html Be well.
I like to watch you knit! I'm just a beginner and know some of the stitches but I found I like to do the basketweave stitch because it"s easy! I was wondering why it is done in multiples of 8 (+5)??? Does it make the basketweave look even??
i do love your videos & wish i could knit as quickly as you do. i'm practicing! could you answer a question about the basket weave cowl or shoulder wrap? i know its 2 strands held together but how many skeins are needed? thank you for all of your wonderful videos & instructions.
In a project I just finished, I used 2 skeins held together of baby yarn. It's called Baby Bee Sweet Delight from Hobby Lobby. You can use any #3 yarn. Make sure you have about 300 yards on each, to make a nice size cowl.
Hi, Joanne! Thank you for teaching me how to knit! Here is my question, What do you do when you get to Row 9? Do you repeat from Row 1 or row 6? Thank you in advance.
I’m knitting a baby cardigan in the basket weave pattern. I have now got to the increase part of the sleeve and cannot get the pattern to continue correctly. I would appreciate your assistance with this please as I’ve it in and out so many times about to give up Thanks Margaret
it took me a few days but I got it down. my question is, do i repeat the last 2 alternating rows until I reach the length I want; then knit the last row so I can bind off.
Hey Joanne i am starting a baby blanket with this pattern, but i want to do the edges knitting 3 and yarn over as you did in the tutorial of the easy baby blanket, how can i incorporate these two patterns? Thank you :)
You can, as long as you follow the pattern as you add stitches. That is: You would need to follow each row of the pattern also wide-wise, as you keep adding stitches.
You can use straight needles to knit a hat!. You use the pattern an take off when you have 7 1/2 inches. here is an example: ruclips.net/video/nTjwYlBhPCM/видео.html
Please male a swatch with the yarn and the needles you are going to use, and measure the swatch. ruclips.net/video/77OZDoWPlok/видео.html. You can go to Pinterest to look at baby's head measurements and then calculate. It's usually 14 to 15 inches around and 5.5 long for a 3 month old.
What size blanket? Which yarn? What size needles? How do you knit? Best thing+ Male a swatch with at least 30 stitches and measure how many inches it gives you. Then multiply.
increase the stitches according to the pattern. You can make a sketch on grid paper showing the knits and the purls so you know which added stitch is next.
Under the video, on "Show More" Here you Basket Weave Stitch Multiple of 8 plus 5 I casted on 29 (8 times 3=24 +5=29) Repeat from * to * K=knit P=purl Row 1.- Knit Row 2.- K5 p3, k5 Row 3.- P5 k3, p5 Row 4.- K5 p3, k5 (same as row 2) Row 5.- Knit Row 6.- K1 p3, k5 end with k1. Row 7.- P1 k3, p5 end with p1. Row 8.- K1 p3, k5 end with k1
what you say here is not what your pattern says in the linked pattern. you SAY knit 5 pearl 3. your pattern says knit 6 pearl 2. Also the rows are different. you SAY knit whole row 5 but the pattern says knit whole row 4. which is it?
it took me a few days but I got it down. my question is, do i repeat the last 2 alternating rows until I reach the length I want; then knit the last row so I can bind off.

I'm making a scarf using this stich with brown yarn very nice stich

I see this video is rather old, and it shows I am rather late to the party BUT can this be made into a cowl scarf? It would be beautiful.
Absolutely! Be aware to reverse the stitches on even number rows.
Perfect pattern for a blanket.
Thank you I really love your video
I love your patters sue from Canada
Hi, Joanne! Thank you for teaching me how to knit! Here is my question, What do you do when you get to Row 9? Do you repeat from Row 1 or row 6? Thank you in advance.
+Lori Torres You repeat from row 1. You're welcome! My pleasure!
Very well done!
wasn't sure why the 3/5 was used instead of 4/4 but I sure like the way it turns out!!
***** It does look different. The 4/4 is just squares. Thanks!
Thank you! I hope I can do it! ❤
Good job and teaching
Hi,Joanne,
Can you tell me how many stitches I would need to make a large Afghan? I love your work and the way you teach knitting.
Make a swatch with the yarn and the needles you are going to use and multiply this amount until you have the with you want.
This video was so helpful... thank you!!
Good teaching and job thanks
Love that pattern

I love this stitch
Love your vidoes
Is this good for a scarf so it won't curl at the sides. I love during scarves!
Queenbooker Yes, this is a good one. Try to leave 3 or 4 stitches of only knit on both sides, so you have a nice edge, if you are making a scarf.

Lindo trabalho! Obrigada beijinhos.😍👏👏👏🇵🇹
How to bind off. Thank you marilyn
So very pretty. I hope to be as fast as you someday. I'm so very slow right now. Hehe :)
That’s a lovely pattern:)
How do you change between knit and purl so fast ?
I’m a beginner and feeling a bit lost 😖
I have been knitting for many years. You'll get it. Be patient.
@@JoannesWeb Thank you for your reply. I'll keep going :)
Hi, how would you knit a hat using this pattern? I'd be using straight needles and worsted weight yarn
You can use straight needles to knit a hat!. You use the pattern an take off when you have 7 1/2 inches. here is an example: ruclips.net/video/nTjwYlBhPCM/видео.html
Yes, it is pretty.
So nice!
How many stitches should i cast on for making a newborn babies hat.. by doing this stitch
How well explained thank you
Can I use circular needles.
+Lucy Rivera Yes, you can.
Do I just start the process again after row 8?
The start row is on the wrong side or right side? Using what cast on?
I used the long ail cast on and I bind off on the last row of the pattern.
Row 9 should I knitt that row or start at row2
SHIRLEY BARNES. You need to knitt this row.
On row 9, You do #1 = knit
Do you bind off with knit stitch only ? I have never did the bind off with a purl stitch.
Yes, you can.
How many stitches to cast on for blanket
What size blanket? Which yarn? What size needles? How do you knit? Best thing+ Male a swatch with at least 30 stitches and measure how many inches it gives you. Then multiply.
Thank you so much
Do you have written instructions about the knit/purl stitches per row?
Underneath the video on "SHOW MORE"
I’m sorry after seeing the video again, I meant why knit all across on row 5 instead of following the pattern?
So nice thank you Mam
Do you have any videos on hat?
Not with this stitch but you can change any hat instructions and use any stitch. Make a ribbing so it adjusts around your head.
If I increase 1 st at begging of every row for shawl how do I do it? Thank you
increase the stitches according to the pattern. You can make a sketch on grid paper showing the knits and the purls so you know which added stitch is next.
@@JoannesWeb thank you very much for your help your the best
How to add to your stitches
On each side, follow the pattern when you add. I usually add by knitting or purling front and back of a stitch
Where are the *'s in your pattern????
Under the video, on "Show More" Here you
Basket Weave Stitch
Multiple of 8 plus 5

Row 2
#9 and #1 are the same. The repetition are 8 rows.
