Scotty Kilmer should hear this.
Ab Remcon I’m sure his take would be the same as mine after seeing way to many Chrysler products in the shop over a 30 plus year time span. Chrysler’s QC has sucked since the 60’s, they have a few great drivetrain components over the years (transmissions are not one of them since the late 90’s) it’s the little stuff that piles up that drives people nuts.
🤣🤣🤣
He should have bought a 1994 Celica.
Why can't we just be enthusiasts without advertising what we do in our bedrooms? That's not hate, just an honest question.
It is an angle that some enthusiasts take. I'm not 100% sure why Jake chose this way to promote his channel. I have lots of friends in this industry who do the same thing, so he isn't alone. Many of them write for publications with gay in the title or implied.
I thought I caught that? Seems like a cool dude, but I'm not a fan of that either. And I'm not a homophobic type
Agreed. Make it simple. I'm a truck enthusiast. Personal information beyond that is irrelevant. It's agenda driven.
Hey there. It's always interesting when people go to thoughts of sex before like, relationships or simple attraction. Anyway. The point of the channel existing (and the website, Facebook, Instagram) is that there's this stigma - whether it's true or not - that if you're going to be a LGBT car/truck enthusiast, autocrosser, racer, rallycrosser, etc., you shouldn't show up as your whole self to meets and events. Others talk about their girlfriends and wives but it's easier if you keep your boyfriend quiet. Heaven forbid you're trans, some people will just walk away when they find that out.
We built this thing because much like someone has to be the first person on the dance floor at a wedding, someone has to be the first person to show other LGBT folks that you can show up as your authentic self and not only be tolerated, but embraced.
Not everyone sees the point in that, and that's okay. But if this channel gets to some kid who's a car enthusiast and also questioning their identity, makes them understand "you can be both" and prevents years of struggle or worse, self-harm, we've succeeded. We appeal to the LGBT+ community first and foremost, and the feedback we receive on that end is nothing but positive.
Yeah I didn't and still don't understand this. Maybe Jake will chime in. I don't care either way but it seems over the top here. The two things have no correlation. It's like me going to a a car show and announcing that I like liver.
I get the disclaimers, and I really don't care about who he is what his personal life is like, but the universe doesn't circle around one's identity. Forwarding sexual preferences to others over some random engine problems is completely unnecessary. Also, no one represents the LGBT community anymore than I represent the straight, middle-aged, or pudgy dad community. People have to stop pressing these things on other people.
I'd challenge you on representing straight, middle-aged, pudy dad community. My Dad bod is on point!!! LOL.
@mark
I didn’t see a damn parade in this video, the dude ain’t real
Glad I got to hear this story. I have been comparing the Rams and F150's. This pretty much answered my questions and concerns. I have always loved the looks of the Rams and you get a lot of value for the money.
2010 Dodge Ram 1500 owner here. It’s a big horn 5.7 with no options other than the hemi. 100k miles on the dot and I’ve had to rebuild the front suspension including wheel bearings. Other than that, no issues. I’m not over the moon, but I’m happy. It’s a good truck other than the rust forming over the passenger side rear wheel.
I love the 2009-2018 Ram trucks, especially the 1500s with the 5.7 HEMI. I've always wanted one in silver with a quad cab and 4X4
I enjoyed hearing this man's story and the events that transpired. Wonderful content 👍🏻. I'm glad he is enjoying his new truck and experience. Very level-headed thinking.
Got rid of my F150 Lariat also for my Ram and what a difference in the ride and the love the appearance and sound of my Ram and yes I did have the hemi tick at 65,000 miles but the dealership fixed it under warranty without any difficulty so glad I changed love my Ram.
2017 RAM 1500 Bighorn owner here I love everything about my truck including the color which is exactly like the one in the video
I went from 2006 Ford F-150 now I have an 2015 Dodge Ram 1500
Imagine a ram with transmission issues.
Civiliansoldier762 lol good one
They do look good though.
No way
Civiliansoldier762
Not that hard to imagine a Chrysler with drivetrain issues.
Honestly!!!! I can't! Not only transmission problems but... electrical, engines, cluster.... should I go on?
What does LGBT have to do with engine problems?
^ this is the exact response I was hoping for. LGBT should have ZERO bearing on this video and its content. However, I do feel I have to put a disclaimer for those less mature than others.
It's his gay way of asking for views and follwers and to warn prleople not to standup yo him on anything
@@Pickuptrucktalk Sure, and thanks for the reply. I completely understand why you put the disclaimer. I just don't understand why these things get brought up to begin with. I've never felt the need to tell anyone about my personal life just because my engine broke, I've never considered joining a heterosexual racing group, if there even is one, or felt the need to start one... That's just me.
Nothing, it just generates views and followers.
I believe in putting forth information when it's important to understand. I'M GAY. I think that's important to know because I believe it means I'm not biased in this situation. Being gay or straight has nothing to with a broken truck. It also has nothing to do with driving an inanimate machine. I don't understand why a community called "Out Motorsports" even exists. Is there a "Straight Motorsports" channel? That would be silly. This said, what he's doing is a great way to get clicks from people. I'll give him that.
Closet Motorsports
😃
The only issue you should have with the Ram is the exhaust manifold bolts shearing off making you spend money to have it repaired. I've had 4 rams, 2009, 2011, 2013 and now 2015. The 2009, 2013 and 2015 have the 5.7 and the exhaust manifold bolts all have failed between 90,000 and 105,000. No other issues so far. Now I have 116,000 miles on my 2015.
Love that air suspension on the RAM. Have it on a 2020 and honestly can say the ride is like a full size luxury sedan!
In cold Canadian climates people have had problems with the air ride suspension
He was very detailed. Love it.
People have always said “Rams are trash” “don’t ever buy a Chrysler product they fall apart”…etc and that always had me worried about owning my Ram but let me tell you i haven’t had a thing go wrong so far. It’s a 2016 big horn crew cab. I do put it in gear selector tho just to disable mds
For the people confused about the disclaimer at the beginning: His channel is called Out Motorsports, so they probably thought that could lead to questions if anyone knows what being out means.
^this.
Great video. Thing is I had the opposite problem. I had purchased a brand new 2016 Ram 1500 sport.
Beautiful truck, I only had it for 2yrs and just 50,000 miles. Alot of electrical problems. Hemi tick, replaced manifolds, two harnesses and a camera for tailgate. Interior overhead console. But the big problem was check engine light kept coming on. Each time you cleared codes 4 random different codes would come up. But the main problem was it kept saying BCM not communicating. And Ram couldn't guarantee a fix...so I traded it in for a
Ford f250 6.2 love it . Just not happy at all with Ram quality and them not standing behind their products...
Very clear explanation!
Whether its a ford with engine problems or a dodge with transmission problems or whatever, i think that the service in connection to the issue is what makes or breaks a customers choice of purchase. Its cool that the guy still thinks pretty highly of ford, but chryslers willingness (in this case) to handle the issue now and here still under warranty says it all.
Between my fiancee and i, we have 4 chryslers (‘05 sebring, ‘10 dakota, ‘97 t&c, ‘04 durango), and they all run great! Ill be fair to say that they tend to burn oil, develop minor leaks, and are more prone to electrical issues as they get older (in my experience). That said, keeping the fluids topped of and keeping up on routine maintenance goes a long way and keeps these thirsty machines rolling, i cant complain :)
I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 138,000 miles and still going strong and its a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK exhaust on it.
You made the right decision ! Enjoy no problems
Very informative and he's delish!
That was a great video. Thanks
Really enjoyed the video. I hope he doesn't have the "Hemi tick" some users are experiencing. Love my Ram, "rowdy around the edges" is exactly why I bought it, in diesel!
I have a 2018 f150 5.0 with 64,000 km. It has been very reliable no issues like this guy
I'm going to have issues moving on from a 4th generation Ram. Love everything about them.
You need to come out to British Columbia Canada and do a vid with me why I got rid of my oil burning 19 Limited F-150..lol..it was a nightmare..My new Ram has been flawless..great vid Tim
I would, but corona virus and all. Why don't you grab your camera/phone and film it! I'll put it on the channel. Always willing to share knowledge for other folks. We can even do a Skype style interview if it suits you better. Let me know - tim@pickuptrucktalk.com.
@@Pickuptrucktalk I just might do that tim..😁😁😁
Awesome video !! I have a new Tacoma and have sooo many gripes and dont know if I should keep or sell
Good luck! You might need it.
Buy NEW and keep the truck for long a time
10 to 15 years
My 09 RAM still running like new when I brought it band new.
Havent had truck payments for over 7 years
Have the same color love it
I recently bought a 2003 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7 Hemi and it runs like a champ. My personal preference is Dodge but all American trucks have their own flaws and it's all about personal preference. Shop around and get what you're satisfied with.
My sister also has a 2003 ram 1500 hemi. She bought it used with 120k back in 2011. It has 365k still has original trans. Engine was replaced at 308k due to broken valve spring and buring oil. Really reliable truck. This truck should last you a long time. Maintance is key. Oil change every 5k I use ams oil. Trans every 60k, diff service every 20k, coolant every 100k or 5 years, tune up every 30 to 45k.
Ram has always ruled !! Not many people know that as they want to be number one so they build top notch quality
In 2008 I was on my way to buy Food F150 Lariat . My wife and I stopped at GM for a second. Ended up driving GM truck for number of years. Only one recall and zero issues. This time around I went for Ram 1500 . Last year I bought Classic 5.7 . Liked everything, but was looking at new generation ... Just traded my Classic and got Ram 1500 Sport edition. Differents is huge inside and out. Love it . Really great truck for my needs. And about transmission. Since 2013 Ram has 8 speed one .
It's stellar. For a new model they actually revised this transmission. I would stay away from air suspension, panoramic sunroof and 12" screen. Nothing is perfect...
@Radford Tataryn
Oh , I'm sorry... I was talking about air suspension.
My neighbor got rid of his 2015 Ford 150 for a new Ram 1500. But his had the 3.5 ecoboom. It blew up at 61,000 miles and Ford refused to warranty it. Even though it had been in and out of the dealership for engine noise. It cost him 5 grand for a used engine and install. He traded it right after that.
@guardrail
I call BS
@@paulhunter9613 Call it what you want.
2017 Ram 🐏 Big horn ! Running STRONG! Clean ! I love it! 40 series flowmaster!
My 2003 ram 5.9 Cummins keeps treating me good so I keep holding off on new trucks. I hate the new shifter in the rams that knob.
Don't get rid of that gem. You'll be sorry
My 2014 crew cab 5.7 4x4 has the column shifter. Drove my buddy's with the knob and hated it. Love my column shifter
The diesels HDs, whether it be with the 68RFE or the Aisin, still feature a column shifter. Anything with the 8-speed is the dial.
Yeah dude hang onto it. New trucks are the devil.
Don't get a new thing unless you need higher capacity. Don't downgrade for new. You'll regret it.
And if you do buy new, try to still hang onto what you have.
My experience.
Eh, you get used to it....but it does suck when ur trying to back up and put it in drive quickly
Own a 2015 Magnetic Grey Tundra. Awesome truck, but Ram hit it out of the park with front end styling on that model year.
Thats a very beautiful F1 pickup you got there brother.
You should be a timing chain noise expert since you had that Range Rover 😂
I got a 2018 Sierra Denali lease with transmission problems. Dealer did updates none of which fixed anything. 9 more months on the lease. I really wanted this truck to be reliable and buy it out in the end. Think I am going Tundra next.
I have the 2017 Ram Love it!
Great video and you are right
Have a 2019 f150 with v8. Doesnt burn oil but the transmission was shifting a little jerky. Took it to the dealer and they told me because i changed the stock tires to some beefier 33inch tires, the shifting points of the transmission were a little miss calibrated. They re calibrated the shifting tables of the transmission and reset the ECU, now it drives like a beast and smooth as when i had stock tires. There are so many ford f150s out there, 3times the amount of the next best seller so theres bound to be some lemons. But the good proper trucks of the batch run like a dream and the others just cant compare.
MrInzombia atta boy well said buddy that’s what I keep telling ford bashers. I’ve been a ford guy pretty much my whole life and I love my special edition f150 5.0.
My pops worked at ford engine plant for 35 years was also on the svt team. Guess what i drive?
jrome m A ram?
Good to know
did he let his 2018 warm up or used oil stabilizer ?
I've walked up to 2 of these trucks recently (1 owned by a coworker, 1 by a customer) both look like about a 2018 f150 and both were making noises like that sitting at idle. Sounded like they were ready to grenade.
Use 5w30 or 0w40 oil instead of water 0w20!!! And noise goes away.
Chatting with a Tundra owner in the parking lot. I asked him what he gets for mileage. Pulling this small camper 36L/100 kms by itself with a tailwind 20L/100 kms and my Ram friends get almost exactly the same mileage.
Does this sound right to you guys?
Dang. Glad I went certified preowned & got my 2015 F150 Lariat SuperCrew in December. 50k miles on it put an extended. Zero issues out of my Coyote.
Nice truck dude
I think there was a similar issue in the 2018 coyote 5.0 mustangs
Truck of the year.
I used to be a car guy only. I never liked pickup trucks or suvs. For my work i drive different types of company vehicles. I gotta say the ram 1500 made me consider buying a pickup. I drove the f150, silverado, tacoma, and ram1500 (i drive vans too). Ram1500 is my favorite. I don't know if i will buy one but if i do I'll get the 6 cylinder engine classic ram1500. 6 seats but 3 seats is fine too. Time will tell if i will buy one.
I had 2016 ram loved the truck when I bought it but as the years and km (80000km) went on it I noticed alot for your typical FCA problems A/C and the hvac system started failing which in a cold winter climate is a saftey concern travel down the road and it's -35 Celsius with a family on board your heat has to be working so I traded it in for 22 f150 I really like the truck we will see how it preforms this winter I like how I can start it from the air port at camp So I have a warm truck to come to when I land
Just to elaborate on his problem I have a 2017 2nd gen 3.5 ecoboost and I had the exact same noise on cold start ups , it also continues for the first 2 minutes of every drive . I went in for the service bulletin and got really lucky , the technician actually cared and said listen the tsb wont work we need to replace all four vct solenoids , it was a huge job. Thev also inspected the timing chain . My problem is now 90% fixed I rarely ever hear it and if I do it's not nearly as loud, I'm also very picky with noises but that's just me . I was told the noises were normal ... and would cause no damage. Dont believe it guys a metal ratcheting sound is never normal and you cant guarantee me that my truck wont have premature engine failure. What proves it for me is the fact that ford installed 4 updated vct solenoids that were designed to fix the noise lolll so there's the proof . If anyone needs help just ask I'll send a picture of the dealer work order .
They did update the 3.5 in 2018
@@paulhunter9613 they actually updated the 3.5 in 2017 . My 2017 has the second gen 3.5 and 10 speed auto . Oh and since my last comment my truck has become noisier then ever. I'm getting the dreaded cam phaser rattle at start up... I haven't gone in for the recall yet because it doesn't seem to work. The phasers on the gen 2's are a total fail. They somehow dropped the ball with phasers yet again......I'm in disbelief.
Use 5w30 or 0w40 oil instead of water 0w20!!! And noise goes away.
Wow! Very well spoken and great technical insights. Thank you for sharing this video. This was a great video!
VERY well done overview Jake!! Thank you very much!! Very honest and not one sided. Cheers!
Damn, having to replace the transmission with that low mileage is horrible. I'm looking at getting a truck but the American brands seems to have so many reported major problems.
7-8 months ago I started looking real hard at buying a new truck. I was almost ready to go ford. I wanted an Stx f150 extended cab 6.5 foot bed with the 5.0. After reading about the 2018+ 5.0s. ReAding tons of complaints from actual owners in forums. I finally scratched that move and bought a new tundra. I know they’re an outdated truck but I’ve never owned a brand new truck before so it’s not outdated to me. Thing is Awsome. Glad I went this direction. Giving up some fuel economy for piece of mind is worth it to me. To each their own. I like chevys. Fords. I’ve owned them all.
And better resale. I paid 36300 for mine 5.5 years ago I'm considering a 30000 trade in... Just not sure I want to bite the 48000 bullet on the new one
Got 3 tundras at work hauling skid steers and excavators, an 08, 10, and 12...all have over 200k...solid trucks
I've also had many many problems with ford. Went to ram and they have been perfect ram is a big upgrade over ford.
2015 brought a new ram for me and an f150 for my wife the f150 now has 20000+ on the clock and never had a wrench on it. The ram has 130000+ and is parked behind my barn in the weeds.
My company had a fleet of the f150 with the 5.0 and recently switched to the Chevy with the 5.3 engines. We're hoping to go back to Ford soon. They were much better trucks all around. Issues all the time running in the dirt with GM trucks. Disappointing to say the least. Minimal issues with the 5.0 Ford.
I have a 2019 new ram and have had enough of it. It is now in the shop for cylinder 5 misfire and having the body gaps tweaked
Well at least its under warranty.
Yeah that’s classic Chrysler, cry me a river.
this is why I never buy the first production year of a all new vehicle u most of the time have some nagging problems
Good video.
so he went from a solenoid issue to a ram that needs a new transmission nice choice, but no thought given to a bulletproof Tundra
My 2012 Tundra was the worst vehicle I ever owned. Maybe he made a good choice.
Tundra's not really on the radar for most truck buyers.
So ugly though.
@@justinluttrell1769 I literally forgot they even existed when I was half ton shopping. Same with Titan.
Goes back to the cardinal rule. Don’t buy a car with a newly designed engine or trans for the first couple years so they can work out the bugs. The old coyote 5.0 is bulletproof. I would never buy a dodge however if I did the hemi is their best engine.
I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 138,000 miles and still going strong and its a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK exhaust on it.
Nice video!!
He looks fine to me. Not sure why you went out of your way to point out he’s gay. We’re here for trucks.
Have you not read the comments on this channel? I was being preemptive.
Definitely enjoyed this video as im truck shopping the pre owned market as well. Thank you 😎💪
@Steve Silvas yeah that is true but tbh the only truck manufacturer that is reliable lately is Toyota but its just so boring of a truck. Im not the type to keep my vehicles long so i think its worth the risk to get a Ram or even a Chevy but Ford is a no for me. They have the worst customer service imo
What about HUGE Hemi problems starting around 230 000km and up???!!!!
Should’ve got a 15 to 17. My 17 King Ranch does none of that. That direct injection sucks and 18 to 20 was bad engines
I got a 2020 Silverado 2500. So far my experience has been disappointing. The transmission feels like it slips and then hits with a metal to metal clunk noise and launches forward fast. The center console has gone out like 8 times while driving in the span of 1 month and 1/2. The reverse camera starts glitching sometimes, and the hazards turn on by themselves. That’s it so far in 1 month of ownership.
Wow...that sucks. I have a 2019 1500 Silverado. No problems at all. 8900 miles.
Just goes to show you can score or strike out with any truck you buy regardless of brand.
Bought a 2010 F150 (4.6v8) upon returning from my tour of Iraq to treat myself. Within 2 years, the steering wheel had a weird clicking to it with every turn (was told everything was ok when taken to the dealership). When I got out of the service, the engine would literally start to stall on the expressway, which is quite an event commuting everyday for college. The truck had less that 70k miles and was meticulously maintained. Needless to say, first thing I did upon graduating nursing school was to save enough money and bought myself a brand new Silverado 1500 with the 5.3. Hope this truck lasts longer than the Ford.
Love my RAM
I had so many fords and just done with them
, now TRX rules the planet
Trans went out mine has 800k miles on it it's 1996 ram v6 3speed manual
Not bad for 800k miles!
My 2018 F150 XLT 5.0, which I purchased brand new in 2018, still makes that same noise to date. Also makes ticking and knocking noises often sounding like a diesel. Truck has 45k miles. Just a daily driver that has never been used to tow or haul and has had all maintenance done on time at my local Ford dealer. Had to have the transmission replaced under warranty and then after my warranty expired it needed a $1700 AC repair, and just recently $2300 to replace the plastic oil pan which is another ongoing problem with these trucks. Love the truck but it certainly has been a huge let down with regard to quality and reliability.
Had a somewhat similar story with a 2020 f150 and transmission. Ultimately attempted a buy back but ford gave me the runaround then ghosted me. Ended up trading it to end the headache.
All makes of vehicles are hit or miss. You either get a really good vehicle or a lemon with loads of issues.
He is a attorney or a public speaker. Well said!
Technology consulting by day, but close enough. Lots of PowerPoints and spreadsheets ;-) Thanks!
The 5 litre coyote was redesigned in 2018. They are junk. They replace the engine on mine and the new one is still an oil burner
Oil burning is the subject of another TSB... thankfully mine only had the ratcheting issue. The pre-2018 5.0s were excellent.
@@OutMotorsports I would disagree. The 2011-2017 also consume oil. Cylinder #8 has issues with insufficient cooling. Running a tune or towing heavy and that cylinder can over heat and score cylinder walls. 80 000km (50k miles) and it needed timing chains and cam phasers replaced, and a leaking water pump.
I don't want to talk about the fact I hate coffee... So I'm not going to make a youtube video about my truck and lead off with the fact I dislike coffee. If you don't want something talked about don't start off with it. I doubt anyone would even be talking about him being gay if he wouldn't have said so. NO ONE CARES!
Keeping away the negative comments. You should see it from my POV. I have had to delete so many.
This is why people end up over at Toyota. They give the big three multiple chances, then buy a Toyota and find out what it's like to not have problems.
Your funny traded my Toyota to many problems
They all have issues
I'll never end up at Toyota! When and if my 251,000 mile plus Ford gives up, I'll get another Ford! My parents had plenty of foreign crap throughout the years Toyota, Subaru....nothing but problems...no thanks! It's Ford for life for me!
Real content starts at about 01:23
I had the same issues with my Ford F-150. Awful noises is not a normal characteristic. Needless to say they lost a customer.
Use 5w30 or 0w40 oil instead of water 0w20!!! And noise goes away.
Bravo! Your are the best! Wow that was alot of work! Kudos for Jake!
Organization pays off! Ford came back with, basically, their version of the story and a "no settlement" offer - their take was missing some key facts (i.e. my service visit where the truck stayed for 30 days). I had everything organized and was able to draft a response in an hour as a result. Managed to get the full buyback settlement without ever sitting down for arbitration.
It’s sad how many new trucks have problems.
Sooo it's a lease. Run it and if it breaks and its their baby. Not sure why this was even an issue. Your lease is covered by a bumper to bumper. Let it break and if it doesnt give it back. It's not your truck. I could see if you purchased it but you have an out. I'd see why you would shy away from Ford after that, but I'm similar to you and wend from a 2011 f150 but I traded and purchased a 2016 f150. You cant beat aluminum when it comes to rust. The ram is nice if you don't run it in the winter.
I gave the video another attempt and I came to the same conclusion. Why bother with lemon law type stuff when you'll never own it and the warranty will be good the entire time you have it.
Let it blow up if they don't want to fix it. Then they'll have to put a new engine in it or give you another identical truck.
I mean I like my Ram but mostly because it's the diesel/AISIN.
I had a 2015 5.0 that was great other than the known fit and finish. Only got rid of it because it couldn't tow as big as I ultimately wanted.
I'm with you TJ its a lease and he has documentation it been worked on and ford is saying its normal! So drive it intel it breaks or the lease is up then dump it !!! but you could tell there was going to be drama from the start of the video . And no I'm not hating I'm just saying we are all men who like cars end or story
Great info! I just have one question. Do people not care about crash test ratings at all! The IIHS crash test ratings for this gen of RAM are horrid!!
Crash test ratings are part of the buying process, however, I'd argue, with most trucks really improving over the years to be similar, it isn't THE decision maker for most.
To be totally honest mine was the opposite of his story. Traded mine in after three month of ownership to a new ford . Never going back to Ram.
Ram is rusted after 5 years and nobody want it you cannot even install a plow because the front end is too cheap and if you put a atv in the box the rear end bottom out… my Dakota was better hauler than my ram and now ford is better than my ram also
I bought 1 new truck in my life and will never again, will only buy trucks 3-6 years old from here on out
Well I’m out sorry but I’m not here for you to tell me anything about religion, sex , or moral issues. I have loved your channel for a long time and love everyone!!!!! All ppl but the introduction is all I needed to hear.

@@paulhunter9613 lol. No. Some do it and some don't. And it comes and goes. Ford's are inconsistent and mostly unreliable. I hope to not have one again ever
I have a 2016 Tacoma. 55k. Thing is really not great at anything, but a good reliable vehicle. Kinda small, so I too wanted to trade for a full size truck. But I have no idea what to get. It seems the big 3 are problematic. The tundra is very dated looking and thirsty , but reliable. Every time I see a video like this, I figure I'll just keep what I have.... reliable and decent mpgs. Any suggestions. P.s. I don't tow and I really don't use a truck besides diy home Depot stuff. Thanks
It doesn't really matter because all our choices suck in one way or another. It's laughably depressing. 😃
Know what my favorite truck has been? An '86 Ford diesel single cab 4 speed manual.
It's ugly, old, slow, basic, reliable, and easy to fix. I drive it just about every day while a 2018 Ram 3500 dually mostly sits.
A hole transmission at 41k, uhhh I would stick with ford or GM.
Ditto!
GM transmissions have sucked over the years too. There’s a reason they use a Ford transmission now.
When i first heard that sound i said "Dang it sounds cold, did he let it warm up?" His operation temp on the dash wasnt even blue yet going by the video he provided. I think he should've let it idle awhile to warm up before driving it cold like that

My 2005 Ford Escape with 132000 miles can drive just fine in 15 degree weather when the engine idles at 2000 rpms because of how absolutely freezing it is and it doesn’t make a sound. This brand new truck shouldn’t be having an issue either. But unfortunately all these automakers actually make these days is over complex junk.
@@francesco1998 i wasn't saying its a weather issue i was saying he should've waited for the vehicle's engine to reach operational temps before driving. But i do agree No manufacture makes vehicles how they use to from the mid to early 2000s and the 90s. I would sacrifice all the bells and whistles, trims & horsepower that these new cars brag on to have the Reliability that cars from when your escape was built

It doesn’t matter what the weather was I’m just putting it in there to tell you how cold my engine runs. In case you didn’t know weather temperature affects the temperature of the engine. My almost 16 year old freezing cold engine runs perfectly fine but a brand new Coyote can’t? Ridiculous.
@@francesco1998 i know exactly how weather effects the motor thats why im saying he should let it warm up. if you run a motor ice cold you're gonna run into issues & no its not gonna sound normal. Those new F-150s have active grille shutters to let the engine warm up quicker ford didnt do that for no reason let the thing warm up.

I never run into issues on my 05 Escape, 2012 Grand Caravan, or 2015 Grand Cherokee when I run the motors cold, freezing cold. Ford puts those shudders on for efficiency reasons, it gets better MPG’s on highway and it’s more efficient to heat up faster. They didn’t do it because they feared it would make noises when cold, it shouldn’t do that anyway. Don’t defend junk dude, automakers need to start building these things proper if they’re going to be shoving all of this tech into them.

Ha! He's got Hoovies' T-Shirt!
Yeah, he told me later he hoped I didn't mind the t-shirt. I said no problem!
I hate to say this but you jumped from the frying pan and into the fire. The 5.7 Hemi's are wiping out camshaft lobes like crazy due to seized lifter roller bearings. It's about a $4000 fix. Happening anywhere from 70-100k miles. There are videos all over RUclips if you're interested.
On another note, I also have a 2018 F150 5.0 liter with that same exact noise. Did the TSB reflash, still there. Now it has 20k on it and the thing runs flawlessly still. Is he noise annoying? Absolutely. As long as she keeps running, I can deal with it. Good luck with the new truck and great video.
hdz12ez yes some of the 5.7 Hemis are having this problem but it’s at around 100,000 miles. The 5 litre is having issues at bran new
Yeah, I knew about the camshaft concern. Truck only has 46k on it now and is CPO'd for the next 3 years or 'til 100k miles. Given my car-ADD, I suspect that'll cover me just fine, should anything happen. From what I read, the issues are largely with the earlier Hemis and mid-2015ish saw some parts updated to help avoid this?
@@ES-pr8bt agreed.
@@OutMotorsports If I'm not mistaken I think people are going with the hellcat lifters and the MDS delete. I guess those are a higher quality lifter.
