What type of HP gains from these 3 mods with a conservative tune for reliability?
@@FrostbiteRam ^ Chris Reynolds comment do you know the answer ?
Appreciate this video. I'm from Africa where we have no choice but to drive stock cars with small engines, sort of like Europe without the regulations. The first thing I did when I legally immigrated to the US was to get myself a 5.7L Hemi RAM - my dream car. Previously it was unfathomable that a normal bakkie (small truck) can have a legendary engine like a 5.7L Hemi. The first month was great, because as Standard it feels great to have so much power compared to what I'm used to. Then I started to get bored. Why is the throttle response so slow? why can't I hear my Hemi? Why does the engine change rhythm when I'm cruising? I WANT TO UNLEASH THE POWER! So after all my research during this Chinese Virus, I've come to exactly the same conclusion: I already did a lot of aesthetic changes to make my RAM look great (for me) , but it has to be: Cold Air Intake, Long Tube Headers and a decent Tune - and Borla for the sound, but that is optional and debatable... :) Great VID and thank you, I installed the CAI as a first step and what a difference! Next week is the LTH and in a month I'll do the tune! Stay safe and stay healthy.
Right on man mod and enjoy that truck🔧🍻
the hemi equipped vehicles are quiet because of the stock muffler, cat, resonator and air box. so get a cold air intake itll give it a sort of super charger whine, and do a full exhaust id go with either a straight pipe xet up, flow master super 44(on my 06 hemi powered jeep commander) mbrp or borla exhaust kits and a high flow catalytic converter do not reuse the re stock resonator. your hemi will scream fear into others heart. as for the response you need a tune and youll be set.
good luck and enjoy
@@christiansulak4309 Hi Christian, thank you for the advice, I truly appreciate it. I'm finally in the position to start all my orders this week. As mentioned previously, I already have the K&N CAI and what a difference! I already had a great reply from sean @hemifever as well and I'm really excited. I might do a video once I have everything done and give a special shout-out to you guys. Keep on trucking!
People surveyed revealed that instead of giving up their truck for a year:
79% would give up drinking alcohol.
82% would give up Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video.
71% would give up drinking coffee.
47% would give up using phone.
44% would give up eating meat.
38% would give up sex.
I live in South Africa and drive a SRT 6.4 Jeep with long tubes, tune and drop-in K&n filter, plenty of mods for any type of car
welcome to america... because africa is is a commie continent.
I think it is incomplete to say people should get long tubes without mentioning they HAVE to get new midpipes, an unlocked PCM, a tuner, and a custom tune.
Not on challengers 2014 and down, it’s already unlocked

I first replaced the 46mm throttle body with a 48mm and installed an SB duel port cold air intake.
I then tuned it with the Edge Tuner.
I enjoyed an awesome power increase and about 2 mpg better gas mileage from 16 to 18 mpg in daily driving. ( depending on my lead foot control)
I plan to put the long tube headers and high flow exhaust next.
Not making a race truck. Just want a little fun. 🤠
A cam, long tubes, full exhaust, a REAL cold air intake (most of them actually just suck in hotter air from the engine bay than the stock intake did), and a QUALITY tune can push a 375hp HEMI to 410-420hp.
Very possible 👍

@@vincentjenkins4920 what part exactly?
@@FrostbiteRam the oil tube stick for engine
@@vincentjenkins4920 some people bend it to fit or replace it with a flexible dip stick
Long tube headers is the way to go! Huge performance gains!
I've heard that there are some fitment or interference issues going long tubes on the Challenger. Is this true or is it not that big of an issue? I'm looking into this as a first mod for my 2016 Shaker RT.
Love how you broke this down! Made it super comprehensible!
My first mod was out of necessity and it blew my mind. I got a superchips tuner so I could shut down the MDS system after having problems with the solenoids for the second time. I had them replaced once but the mechanic evidently didn’t drop the oil pan like they claimed and clean out the debris that clogged the solenoids the first time and I am physically unable to do so myself.
The tuner’s improvement on performance over the stock settings is clear, even running 87 with ethanol. When running 91 without ethanol and pulling a 6000lb rv, I could still probably out accelerate the stock settings on 87 with ethanol just because of the raw power and the optimized shift points.
WHAT ENGINE DID YOU USE IT ON AND WHAT TUNER DID YOU USE THANKS BUDDY
@@wranglercjseven69 5.7 hemi with the superchips tuner
Just bought a 2023 Durango R/T. Thanks for the video long headers & a supercharger I think will wake this baby up nicely 😊
Good choice!
I had a 07 charger and if u have a tuner get a 180 thermostat, it cools the motor down further while running and is fairly cheap
Gracias for making this video made me make up my mind 100 percent now I know what to do I had absolutely no clue where to start
Awesome 🤙
Something a non car guy would say smh🤨
We were all so called "non car guys" at some point... relax dude!
seen guys with long tubes and a tune running close to scat power for a fraction of the price. Thank you for this video, the 5.7 is so underrated.
Okay, I agree on this list mostly, I wouldn't go the boost route in a 5.7 Hemi, but let me give my basic list of mods
1.- the headers with a high flow cathalitic converter on each end
2.- the tune, but a diablo one
3.- the cold air intake absolutely
4.- a camshaft and MSD delete (I think those are the letters, but basically the system that gets claughteres and trashes your camshaft)
5.- big valves and ported heads on both exhaust and intake.
Note: you will need bigger tires after all this, it can go quite high in power done the right way and using high octane fuel
Note 2: yoh can still expect your engine to last a long time under normal use, but your grand son won't be getting that engine in running conditions like he would if you leave it stock and take proper care of such an engine
I honestly want a pair of rear mounted twins on my challenger, but I figured I’d get more reliability out of a cam, with headers intake and tune. Simple street car is what I’m after..
Sounds like a good setup
From experience if you’re going to do headers do it right the first time like he said, don’t go shortys. But also don’t go cheap I’d much rather have paid 1000+ for the quality ones now knowing how many problems I’ve had with the jba longtubes! Yes it’s more power but the quality is shit they leak, and the fitment was also bad they touch things in the engine bay that cause false knock which reduces timing. Save up do it right the first time. We’ll be much easier to install as well.

Which headers do you recommend?
@@HammerK99 Stainless Works or ARH, then Kooks #3, AFE not as popular but heard they are quality.

Best First Mods to get for your 5.7
01. Replace Stock Headers with Long Tube Headers
02. Tuner, to optimize your mods
03. Third Air Intake Kit or Super/Turbo/ Pro Charger.
I would add #4 - aftermarket muffler and/or catback exhaust.
Wouldn't it be best to add the tune at the end to make it all flow best together
What I did was long tube headers catless and exhaust
Then 90MM Throttle body
Then ported intake and true vent cold air intake
Then upgraded the ignition and coils
Then did a tune to see where I was at
Next was 408 stroker and 233 Comp cam and heads and another tune
@@alyssadraculesti what are your whp

First place I started was the exhaust. Moving onto a better intake so I can put a bigger throttle body on now.
On my 2004 I knocked the fan off and installed a 2004 Chrysler 300 electric fans and helped good with throttle response highly recommend this truck had a delay in launch before this instalation and is cheap
Is it bigger than a dodge ram electric fan? How is it possible?
and also clutch fan delete and a thermostat is a good one to mention when it comes to the trucks anyways. it cost me 20$ to do that (already had a custom tune)
For sure🤘👍
After Kevin's list, the ATI 15%Underdrive Pulley.
T stats are not good performance upgrades, if you put a low temp t stat in, your car is gonna try and use more fuel to heat the engine up to temp and it’s gonna run rich.

I am enjoying your videos. You are a natural in front of the camera and get straight to the point. I've seen 15 minute videos that could have been done in 3 minutes.
The truck you built is quite the machine. I am not looking for significant gains. When you say "best" does that mean you have tried most other modifications, particular Mopar's Cold Air Intake Ram Air Hood, Vararam Air grabber, AFE Ram Magnum Force Stage 2? Those are just a few I've seen as highly rated. Also, what about Edge Pulsar, PedalMax vs the Diablo Sport you recommended. I guess what I want to know is whether you've tried these and whether you have an opinion about them because they are all salty to me, but seem highly recommended by others. As I said, I want modest gains, including the option of getting even better mileage during no load long distance highway trips. This would be for my first-ever 2021 Ram 1500 with a 5.7L. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.
The absolute best bang for the buck will be getting a programmer and atleast running the canned tunes but getting custom tunes even better.
I got my suspension worked with FOX reservoir shocks and coilovers 2006 Ram 1500 TRX4 with a factory lift. Now its time for a flash and some more bolt ons. Just got a catback Magna flow and AFE Magnum intake.
Awesome 🤘
I’ve had 4 Ram 1500s 03 08 14 and 19 the first 3 had exhaust air intake and computer tuner the 14 ran consistently 14.2 at track this being a 4 door 4x4 weight was 5700 pounds had to launch in 4 hi then turn off truck had a anti spin 3.21 The current one which is a warlock has cold air and exhaust waiting for a chip due to pcm unlocking but truck has a 3.92 gear already feels faster so after having 4 rams the 3.92 gear seems biggest gain And I ran all rams up to 150k never repeat never any motor or transmission issues
Great information 🤘👍
Did you run a street tune on your 2014 for gas mileage or just same tune all the time?
How was the 08? I just bought one
Josh Hodgdon full service every 60 k trans and diffs second owner made it to 250 k water pump when out and he pushed it and lost motor put a reman in it he has 306 k on it now again nobody ever services there cars but if you do they run forever
I got the 2 year unlimited mile aftermarket warranty just incase the tranny goes or something. Heard they were crap along with rearends but like you said nobody services them and bitch when they break. Has 130 k on it trying to figure out if I want to run conventional oil or a semi synthetic high mileage oil. From what I have read even supertech oil is actually damn good especially for the price
Thanks man very informative and a lil help with direction with start of mods with my 5.7 Hemi in Ram .
I’m not so sure I agree with your police work here Lou.
This guy is basically talking about race applications.... Long tube are definitely way to go for that scenarios.. but street/ towing I just did shorty JBA headers due to leaky stock manifolds, and they bolted right up to stock y pipe.... I noticed a diff. immediatley. Only other Mod I have is Flowmaster cat back that was already installed..... I will get AFE intake and then tune... be happy with whatever it amounts too.
Have you noticed an mpg increase at all?
Very nice commentary, thanks! On my 2019 RAM 1500 5.7L, if I do the headers, tune and CAI - will that cause me to fail my state emissions testing (required every two years)?? I would be retaining cats and keeping all monitors on in the tune. Thanks again!
Awesome
It would have been nice to see some Dyno testing after each item was added
Went with American racing long tubes with high flow cats now to get a custom tune with greene racing. your truck build is a big influence on my build
Thats awesome man arh is good stuff.
What high flow cats did you choose?
@@Obrim34 the headers comes with the option to get cats or just run them straight
So long tube headers to the factory cats? 02 sensors?
On the ram, 4 wd, transfer case takes up a lot room,
06 2500 hemi 6 speed, took out the y pipe, running true duals, but allways curious with the headers...
In my opinion CAI can't make ambiant air, colder.
Best bank for the buck is keep up on them 16 copper plugs.
Great. I have a 05 Ram 2500 quad SLT magnum 5.7 hemi 4wd and a 38 foot fifth wheel. I'm really pushing max tow capacity. So I don't need more speed necessarily but believe I need another say 1000 1bs of towing capacity and umph getting up steeper hills or long inclines. So does this mean more torque is needed above anything else? With my goals in mind do you think I should I still follow the order of this video or do these mods in a different order of priority?
If you want torque gains for towing I'd would get the tuner or custom tuning from frptuning.com and some longtubes would be ideal.
Jba shorties dont flow better that oem manifolds some guy on tuned rams page proved it hes got a youtube channel too
They flow alot better than stock Durango manifolds for sure
BS....Anything flows better than stock Ram manifolds...I dont buy your comment.
Long tube headers are a good choice outside of California. But now if you are in California the long tubes arent really a option.

Glad you liked it!
So, I’m not trying to drag race my truck. I haul quite a bit of weight in it all the time and I tow a trailer with it frequently. I did install an exhaust cut out, right after the cats because I still have to pass smog and I drive it up and down I5 often. I just rebuilt the engine in January but couldn’t afford any mods. Given what I use my truck for what’s your standpoint? It’s an 06 ram 2500 5.7. Probably weighs about 9-10k as it sits. I carry chains and cables and snatch blocks and a bunch of other stuff all the time.
You have to replace leaking oe ram exhaust manifolds anyways... might as well install the long tube headers then.
Sadly I gotta keep my cats on so no long tubes for me. But I did just order some short tunes to get rid of the manifold
Nice video. I live in socal so shortly headers are my only options.

Frostbite Ram, I'm Wondering if long headers run louder then the normal noise of a stock engine. And if so how much of a difference. Thanks and great video
They will be a little louder but if you run quality mufflers it can be Very mellow and quiet if you want.

MDS delete, Eagle heads, and will be installing the 6.4L intake manifold and some sort of CAI. I have 392 injectors, pacesetter long tube headers, no cats, and a pacesetter 3" Y pipe. Tranny is the 545rfe with a Transgo valve body and Sonnax RFE-LB1 line pressure booster. I would like to adjust shift points, MDS delete from the ECM, raise speed and rev limiters, and adjust for tire size (35x12.50x18). Can you suggest a custom tuner? Is it better to find a local dyno shop and have them tune it? I'm in the Dallas area. Thanks!
Honestly depends on your goals for my opinion. you want to stay NA?
