@@xmarksthespot4617 pretty much. So the throttle is all electronic now, no physical connection between the pedal and throttle body. Just an electric signal telling the throttle body to open, and how far to open. This, and many others exactly like it, take that signal and boost it. I timed the 0-60 on the video (four times each) with and without the pedalmax, Without it the truck averaged 7.04 seconds 0-60, and with it the truck averaged 7.48! What I noticed in the video is that with the pedalmax there was a lag in the speed increasing right around 50 mph. That could have been a driver variance. I put one of these in my '14 Ram, and it was fun for a couple weeks, but after that, I took it out because my mileage significantly went down (yes I could have reduced the percentage, but I found myself liking it too much). I now have a '21 Ram, and the factory did somewhat address this issue, but there is still a significant lag when passing. What I do now is, if I think I'm going to pass, I just blip the gas pedal, which causes the transmission to downshift a couple gears so when I do you get on it there's not as much delay.
Food for thought: That lag in response on the newer generation RAM is built in there by the engineers. What the lag does is signal the 8spd Aisin transmission to start circulating more fluid before accelerating. This protects that expensive transmission.
Banks just came out with the Pedal Monster. No crazy code if you bump the wire, it will default to the standard code. They also have the power draw on the connector figured out.

The pedal boostermaxcommander works by altering the signal that is being sent to the ecu of the vehicle. Most stock vehicles give you a 1 to 1 ratio oh how far you press the pedal and how far the throttle body opens. Press the pedal half way and throttle body opens half way, just like the old throttle by cable systems. However because this is electronic, manufactures added in things like torque management, or clutch protection for smoother acceleration. These things make it feel like the throttle body is opening slower than the throttle press many times, and thats exactly whats happening. This product installs right between the pedal and ecu and intercepts the signal. It then increases the signal and sends it to the ecu. For example if you press the pedal half way, the throttle body opens three quarters of the way. But because the product is installed before the ecu, the ecu will still add in torque management and slow down the speed at which your throttle body opens. This is why this product is warranty safe as well, it doesnt tamper with any ecu settings. Your ecu just things youre pressing the pedal down further than you are, which brings me to the point, dont waste your money, just press the pedal down faster and further. Also, these products all do the same thing and are very simple and over priced. I think at 20 dollars it would be a great product. RC radios now days come with more complex version of this product for 40 bucks. But you get to map out your exact throttle press on a visual graph. Also, any car or truck with sport mode increases the throttle sensitivity, and its already built in and free. The true and only way to get rid of a slow, gradual opening throttle body is to simply tune.
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA What Sergey is saying makes a lot of sense. Are you claiming that this device exceeds the limits of the pedal? Like, assuming stock pedal has a max throttle open speed of X at WOT when the pedal is floored. This device can exceed that speed by some percent? And 7 degrees more than what? If it is 7 degrees more than where the throttle is open at any point on stock pedal travel, then you are proving Sergey's point that simply pressing the stock pedal more or faster would achieve the same goal. Not trying to be dismissive of the product, it just seems more like a throttle input adjuster than something that would release power. For that, like Sergey said, you would need to tune the ECU.
jed92y I mean obviously I did not invest this product but from my understanding it allows the throttle to open faster and open 7 degrees more than stock so pressing the pedal to the floor there is a delay and this will eliminate that by intercepting the output from the ecu and amplifying the signal to the throttle body motor causing it to open faster than stock in turn giving you control over throttle lag and the difference is very noticeable

I have a 2019 Laramie tow package with the 3.92 rear axle and I get tire spin from a stop on gravel and a loud screech on asphalt. No mod for me needed...but I'm an older guy!
@@hemilifeornolife567 I sure dont know. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. I guess for me, the truck has enough power and speed with no mods. Understand though that the 2019 ram I bought replaced my old worn out 2004 chevy Silverado with just a little over 300k miles on it with the original transmission and engine. So I am used to driving an old worn out truck. Even a Prius would have more power than that old girl! I do have the 3.92 rear axle. 4x4. Maybe that's why it spins out on gravel etc.
Jessy Adsms tow package just would be a difference on like trailer mirrors/trailer brakes/rear end gear ⚙️ be different than one without, I’m not sure if they would be automatically be made with the 4x4 or not that’s also an option too I believe either way i don’t think it would make it faster by having the towing package or not, would just be how much harder it would leave of the start due to having a higher gear ration like a 3.92.

I have a 2019 longhorn model with echo boost. It is stock and when I disable echo Mode by switching it to Manual, it will burn the tires off from dead stop. Not saying the mod won't help, but there was to much lag on that truck before the mod.
An interested effect, if you're driving, and turn this on, it feels like the throttle pedal loses resistance. It's made me hold off on a tuner/unlocked PCM package.
That gap between the grille and bumper i think could be fixed if you get the sports grille , not entirely sure but thats what i have heard from people who swap out for the 4th gen bumper
My 2019 RAM 1500 V8 4x4 CCab has the same issue...a delayed response to the pedal in acceleration. Not just that, while driving, say between 40-50 and the traffic opens up and if it is a freeway, I push the pedal, not quite flooring, but I have some 2-3 seconds delay before I see the acceleration. Nate Skinner welcome to the channel and my plan with this build is all bolt on accessories that will have no affect on warranty, mine has a lifetime power train warranty and I’d like to keep that in tact for sure
Knowing FAC and the service dept if they were to find out about that mod it would indeed void the warrantee. Vehicle manufacturers these days frown upon that unless its done in house and its approved. Looks like a great mod and adds more fun!
Just grabbed a 21’ big horn with 18k miles. Just doing a level with bigger tires. Kind of stuck on which dia/at tire I should go with. Not a big wide wheel guy

Hey I know this is a bit late and I’ve seen you changed trucks but I’ve wanted to know your final impressions of owning the pedal max and if I should get it installed on my truck. Does it hurt or decrease engine life in any way and is there anything I should know about. The true and only way to get rid of a slow, gradual opening throttle body is to simply tune.
but the PedalMax opens it faster and 7 degrees more
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA What Sergey is saying makes a lot of sense.
3.92 and Etorque Hemi, I can light em up on dry asphalt every time.

@@jrogers7581 what's your elevation?
That throttle delay is annoying and I would even say dangerous. When I got my truck I noticed myself giving more pedal off the line because it wasn’t moving right away but then I get more throttle than I wanted.
the delay is directly from a dead stop so this is helpful in a way
The joy on his face haha
Great product after your recommendation after the Camaro vid I picked one up for my grand sport and wow what a difference. I skipped the knob install so it stays set on 60% automatically. Thanks for the review
If it has the 5.7 Hemi V8 ...to make it go faster. Try changing out the stock intake to a 392 intake plus born out the head says inquire to do out the intake Plus installing two double turbos
I’m sorry, I didn’t rely notice any quicker Acceleration from dead take off. I will say if your cruising at a certain speed and your in a high gear, it takes a bit for the transmission to downshift from 6or 7th gear to 3rd.
it really is noticeable from a dead stop and makes the truck a lot more responsive
It doesn't add power. It increases throttle sensetivity.
@@AndoBMS another guy did a video on how these work, basically it tells the computer to open the throttle more than stock. As far as delay, it doesn’t take it out, you just think it did bc your mind is use to the amount of power to the ratio of pedal your pushing. A guy did a video on the pedal commander and no delay was reduced, just the throttle position from stock
I have a 2019 Laramie tow package with the 3.92 rear axle and I get tire spin from a stop on gravel and a loud screech on asphalt.
No mod for me needed...but I'm an older guy!
I have a 2018 ram 1500 Big Horn with the tow package it’s also a 4 x 4 does that mean it’s going to be
Faster than a ram what out to a package
Miss spelled tow package
Jessy Adsms I own a 17 Ram Rebel and has every option minus the sunroof. Comes with the 3.92 and I have modded this truck and it does leave hard off the start. I can spin the tires even on traction control on
You can gear limit to keep the truck in 8cyl, gets rid of the MDS delay
I have a 2019 longhorn model with echo boost. It is stock and when I disable echo Mode by switching it to Manual, it will burn the tires off from dead stop. Not saying the mod won't help, but there was to much lag on that truck before the mod.
Ram doesn’t have a eco-boost
@@Mrad72 he said "echo-boost", he's probably just yelling in his truck bed with with a tonno cover on , it improves the echo.
Was there wheelspin afterwards? Watching the time stamp, your 0-60 is actually slower after the install.
Yeah probably what it was
An interested effect, if you're driving, and turn this on, it feels like the throttle pedal loses resistance. It's made me hold off on a tuner/unlocked PCM package.
I bought one of these for my Chevy Aveo. Now I can get tire chirp going into third gear! Very exciting
I feel like this would fuck with the eTorque models since the eTorque performs the half tire rotation from a dead stop before the engine kicks in.
I have a 17 Laramie with a glass pack “muffler” and a K&N filter. This stuff really lets the ponies out.
Lmfao. No. No they do not
No they really don’t
If you add a camera to watch your throttle cable and what not, all it does is open it up further faster
No throttle cables on these trucks
The etorque accelerate like that. I have a 19 Hemi with no e-torque and an instantly roast the tires through first and second gear
'95 Ram is getting there. 😎
That gap between the grille and bumper i think could be fixed if you get the sports grille , not entirely sure but thats what i have heard from people who swap out for the 4th gen bumper
I just got my RAM 1500 yesterday, adding the pedalmax won't void warranty?????
jabojr not to my knowledge it’s plug and play you can remove it in minutes if you had to take it in for anything
just read the description on the website and it says it has a "seamless and warranty-friendly installation". gonna check it out myself
are you in 4X4 or is traction control worse In the new ones? my bone stock 2016 blows the tires off if I floor it from a dead stop.
Seems like the same as pedal commander.
East Texas here. 80-95% humidity at 90-105 degrees 🥵🥵🥵
So, as you described, will this JMS Pedal-Max do the magic trick on mine, or is it just a myth?
Also, I would like for you to make a detailed video of BorgWarner 44x44 and BorgWarner 44x45 systems of RAM and how DOdge lied to the customers on BW44x44 and calling it 4x4, which is not the case because it is a wet clutch concept. The only true 4x4 is BW44x45.
i just hooked this up to my truck. and my back up camera stopped working. any ideas ?
Keep that Hammerdown!!!! Cant wait for the mod coming on monday!

Question: Larger cool-air intake. Have you tested or know the impact of replacing the current air intake for a larger & cooled one on the new Ram 1500?

Subbed to the channel because I love learning about mods. Looking into a 2019 limited early next year. Can the videos include if warranty is voided with each mod? That would be super helpful
Nate Skinner welcome to the channel and my plan with this build is all bolt on accessories that will have no affect on warranty, mine has a lifetime power train warranty and I’d like to keep that in tact for sure
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA awesome! I'll keep that in mind moving forward too.
Knowing FAC and the service dept if they were to find out about that mod it would indeed void the warrantee. Vehicle manufacturers these days frown upon that unless its done in house and its approved. Looks like a great mod and adds more fun!
Certian brands will throw you in limp mode.
P'fhew' 🐃💩🧻🚽 Balmy 86°! ....ha!

The drb can fix all the limitations. Take off the limiter and the rest doesn't matter.

How's the pedal max been? Any issues? Also does it affect the gas mileage?
It doesn't really affect gas mileage but no issues just great throttle response
Is that ram leveled or lifted? And what tires are you running?

Luv this mod, definitely gonna add it on to my Rebel!! Great job again with your videos Mr Hammerdown!! Any idea if it messes with your warranty?
Thanks for watching no worries with warranty if you end up having an engine issue you can always remove it and there is no way they would know it was installed just to remove the blame game from the equation
Not doubting the seat of the pants feel that is obviously better than stock by your laughter but according to the zero to 60 times on your video, they are exactly 7 seconds on the before ( 3.32 - 3.39 ), and on the after ( 9.18 - 9.25 ) so I'm wondering if this is really much of an advantage. This was a couple of years ago now so I am wondering if this has remained a good choice and would you still recommend it? I have a brand new 2021 Ram 1500 and I am considering this. Any input would be great, thanks.
I am still enjoying the pedal max if you turn it off you really see how much it does from stock
I just got a new 2020 hemi ram and I hate the 5 mpg I get every time I step in the gas lol
So trade it in for a Prius?
JMS PedalMax is the best. Better than Pedal Commander and Sprint booster.
yeah... i hate that mine goes into nanny mode. My 245HP 360 Duster can easily out accelerate this 395hp thing.
k.. I'm convinced where do I get one?
I’m curious what your peak coolant temperature got up to when you were flooring it
Honestly the acceleration looked the same to me? Turn the traction control off and the limiter is turned off. It will burn the tires off the wheels.
I thought the same thing.
Do you know if it messes with the warranty? I know a tuner does void the warranty.
This doesn’t if you take it to the dealer just pull it out takes 5 minutes
Love your site and have a Laramie limited 2020 because you spoke so highly and I freaking love it. What muffler do I get so it sounds like your old one?
Great video and explanation man ✌🏻✌🏻. The Hemi is real nice , but I love how my 2019 Pentastar revs at 6700 rpm and its got a good pep to it. I raced a friend of mine with a 2017 Silverado 5.3l of the line and I had him for about 4 cars , but eventually he caught up with me 😂😂.
@Chad Guess funny guy 😁😁
@Chad Guess Absolulety 😂😂
Beware of breaking a coil spring when using these.. ive also lost power while driving on the freeway. I used the pedal commander on my 2017 ram 1500 sport. Im sure this is the same.. just saying, faster acceleration isnt always good for stock. Dont get me wrong..its fun to use, just use lightly. Nobody likes a blinking check engine light.
Sounds like the pedal commander
but better doesn't have that ugly control panel just a sleek level knob that's easy to put under the dash
I hate that delay in my 19 big horn, my 17 rebel was instant. I wonder how your truck is now 1 year later
Hey I know this is a bit late and I’ve seen you changed trucks but I’ve wanted to know your final impressions of owning the pedal max and if I should get it installed on my truck. Does it hurt or decrease engine life in any way and is there anything I should know about. Really like the idea of reduced throttle lag because the 5.7 hemi on rams do have quite a bit delay when hitting the throttle even for 4wd so should I be fine to get it or should I not
I have a 2012 Power Wagon - is the PedalMax system compatible with a truck that old?
Yes they have one for that truck too
So your 2019 won't spin the tires? V6? My 2018 5.7 will cook the tires without anything even with the "traction control " on. That doesn't work when both wheels break free off the line.
Great video. I love my 2019 bighorn black out....I had to trade my 18 camaro as for. Worth. Needs more power. Do you have 3.21 or 3.92?
Damian Collum honestly I’d have to check my window sticker to be sure
I have a 2020 ram 1500 with 3.21 it’s fast but I drove a 2019 ram 1500 with 3.92 that shit was faster and you feel all that Hemi

What did you use on that bumper?? Can you use this on the frame? I want to pre treat my frame, living in PA the salt kills these trucks! I have a brand new 21 1500 and what to protect underneath soon!
Great video man. I need to come up for another ride with the new mod!
so, does it just change the throttle angle ratio to the computer? So, 20% angle changes to 30% or more depending on the adjustment? WOT is still WOT or does that come on earlier too? Like a condensed angle sensor?
from what I understand it comes on faster and WOT is open more than stock
Would this void the warranty?
What is the difference between the pedal max and a pedal commander?
What's the difference between that and pedal commander ?
Do you prefer this over the pedal Commander and do they make the JMS for all year Rams?

I wouldnt get etorque if I could choose again. And I wish I had the air suspension.
@@daniel1k793 Hey, same situation. Why wouldn't you get etorque? And, do you know if all Rams now come with the engine autostart/stop "feature". I have seen buttons near the gear select on some that disables that feature, but I can't find info if all the trucks now have it.
@@jed92y ive got mixed feeling on it. It may still be breaking in bc I got less than 7k miles. But mostly bc my normal driving style is braking lightly to lights+stops and I'm annoyed with deceleration with etorque. Im pretty sure it's not the regen braking but the downshifts. while braking the downshifts bite pretty hard on my 3.92 when truck isnt towing and is light. Takes effort to smoothly stop. Maybe a trans update could lessen that effect. Also, I think putting bigger tires and lift would be less pronounced
