I work at a Dodge dealer and BOTH of these problems are very common but also very easily fixed. The cruise issue is fixed by simply replacing the switch. It's a $25 dollar part and about half an hour of labor. The water leak is caused by the seal around the 3rd brake light. Also easily fixed by simply replacing the light assembly. Any dealer worth its salt will have both parts in stock. Simple fix for both.
Just throwing my 2 cents in on the whole "don't buy dodge" thing. I've had my 2001 Ram 1500 since about 40k miles and it is now at just shy of 200k. I've had no major mechanical issue, leaks, or anything note worthy besides a water pump failure at 160k while leaving the driveway. I do not baby it either. It has never left me stranded and has been reliable. Every auto maker will have issues depending on the vehicle.
Same here, my water pump went out at 130k 11 years old, my boss's f150 had water pump out in 3 years 70k. I had 2 more, EGR and solenoid in transmission. But that happen after water pump and happens to be i know only one friend with Tundra, he had trans. solenoids codes on 5 years old truck. Now that is my life reality, things just happens to any make
my 04 has been a great truck as well, just normal maintenance and common long mileage things. Mostly what you read is internet armchair warriors who know nothing about the rig they are bitching about. Certainly some rigs have problems in every brand.
horseluvrva The only good thing about GM is their transmission lol! I have an Dodge Dart 2013 SXT Turbo and never had problems on it and i have 101k miles on it. Before that i had an 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt and its suck. I had lot of recall for this car, headlight, motor headgasket leaking and worst gaz milleage and it was a 2.2l ecotec its supposed to be reliable but its not. It blown up 2 Months after buying it beacause the motor cracked for no reasons. It had 50k miles on it. You should learn about that and think about to say something...
I work for Dodge in TN. 1st Cruise problem their going to replace the switch. 2nd water leak is coming from the 3rd brake light there going to replace that as well it's that's it. It's common for the 1500 nun major.
I have the same truck. Bought it brand new. I love the looks and power but it has had A LOT of problems. The electronics are a big problem and if yours is a 4x4, pay attention to any noise or odd feeling coming from the front end. Just had a ton of work done to the front end on mine (luckily it was covered under warranty)
I've had my 2014 ram express for 2 years and has 40k on it now. Love the truck and haven't really had any issues with it. The radio presets don't save but that's minor for me. Overall it's a great truck and doesn't have any more/less issues than any other truck out on the market today. I've put a K&N CAI and a rough country leveling kit with LED lights inside and out. Still running strong fingers crossed.
How can Dodge make a $40k truck in 2014 and it's not water-tight? Are you kidding me? Standing water under the rear seat is a pretty major issue. I'd be TRIGGERED
My 2018 1500 Night Edition with 21,665 miles. These are the problems I had already. 1- Driver window doesn't goes up on auto. 2- My U-Connect display got delaminated. 3- 4WD light intermittenly goes on & off on display as a warning. Third brake light went out and burned the socket. 4- Both sides Ram box covers cracked around the lock mechanism. 5- Overhead panel map light led passenger side start flickering until went all the way to dimm. 6- Battery died with just two years of use and I'm unable to start it.
I have a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, bought it used with 12,000 miles on it, it has 76,000 miles now, I’ve only changed tires and recently the brakes, I change the oil and put synthetic oil every 5000 miles, no problems what so ever, it even has the original battery, enough said guys!
At least Dodge didn't tell you that you were out of warranty.." FORD pos! would've escorted your ass right out the front door and probably told you to sue them for there ongoing shit car problems they have. "Now Chevy would've made you pay something out of pocket and stated you have some deductible or some sort. 'And the ugly looking trucks of every year, Toyota, Nissan, Honda would've fixed it and then find a reason to cancel your warranty or tell you that you brought the truck in 2 many times and that you're a liability to their company.." LMMAO..!! Thank GOD Dodge has stepped there game up on fixing there awesome cars and trucks.
kenny Tee it's pretty dealership based. funny you say that because ford out here in my town is great but the dodge dealership no one can stand.. never will stand behind there shitty issues my buddy's Grand Cherokee has had transmission issues they won't take care of been in 3 times.
kenny Tee as unreliable as FCA is, it seems like they do good job of honoring warranties. We havent had a ford thats been in warranty since 11 years ago, but ford did a decent job, times have probably changed. GM honors their warranties. No experience with honda, nissan, germans, british. Toyota goes that extra mile to make sure they dont honor that warranty. They have always been a pain in the ass. At least the USA headquarters is about 5-10 minutes away until it moves to texas lmao
Thanks Frank, it's good to know that there is some effort being put forth. We do not need to move backwards in a direction that caused USA car company's their bad reputations in the first place.."
I bought my 2016 RAM 1500 Big Horn Hemi in May last year. It's now 1 year old, and I have not had ANY problems with it. (So far, LOL. Try not to jinx myself). I absolutely LOVE IT! Decent on fuel with the 8 speed auto. I think the RAM is the best looking truck on the road!
I'm absolutley enjoying and really happy with my 2019 Ram 1500. I like the way it looks better than the other brands. I had the 2015 Silverado 1500 and test drove the 2019 Ram. I got the RAM immediately.
@@jimeckenrode1271 woww, sounds like you're driving it, not your son. Yep it's a nice vehicle for sure. Mine had the reclining rear seats which Ram unfortunately and stupidly didn't put in my 2022 Laramie. My 2022 has the electronic folding trailer mirrors which is an excellent positive advantageous feature and the multi function tailgate which I really like a whole lot and would want for any pickup truck I'd ever get. 🔔 Happy Christmas Season 🎄 ✨️🕯
See. I have friends with rams fords and gm vehicles. None of them have issues like every RUclipsr has issues with heir vehicle. I swear to god you all want your shit to break 24/7. I also know for fact these trucks don't have issues. I know 3 people with them. They all have 60k plus. Not a single problem. Mesmerizing.
Did an oil change on a 16 F150 that had a oil pan leak already. Junk plastic oil pan on the engine and transmission. It is sad that Ford is going cheap with their vehicles
Had the same Cruise control issue on my 2012 grand cherokee, i just pushed the + and - at the same time and it solved the problem, eventually i just bought a new switch and replaced it
Jeff Smallwood iv had a 1999 chevy Silverado. Put 150,000 miles on it and still runs like its brand new. My step dads dodge had major suspension problems at 20,000 miles and his paint started peeling really bad
The leak is coming from the 3rd brake light. There is cheap foam seal around the housing that cause water to get through. Easy fix is to use some thick molding you can buy at HD for about $5. Fixed my 13 quad cab about 3 years ago. Problem solved
Had that same problem with my ram truck. The water leak comes from lamp housing over the back window. Did have to raise hell about it but it's a known problem that they tried to ignore.
Man I just stumbled upon your vid while looking up Ram vids since I also just bought a 2014 Ram lol. I live like 20 mins away from there man! Good stuff
I think I should start my own vehicle reliability report and call it, "This One Dude Said... Auto Report". It seems like a lot of people think that anecdotes are best indicator of quality and reliability. "After eight years, my buddy's cigarette lighter quit working in his POS Ford Taurus, that he bought on Craigslist from some guy named Skip. That's how I know that Lincoln Navigators are garbage". "My neighbor's cousin had nothing but problems with the info-tainment system in his Chevy Volt, so I will never buy a GMC truck". Coming up next week on, This One Dude Said... Auto Report: My Aunt Edith will tell us why every new Lexus is crap, because her 1981 Toyota Corolla, once blew a radiator hose in the Mojave Desert.
When i purchased my Dodge Ram new in 1989 the guys at work said buy a Chevy or a Ford not a Dodge. Well anyway the company parking lot was full of Ford and Chevy trucks. They told me i had to park my truck at the far end of the lot because they didn't want my truck contaminating their trucks. Well a year later a 1990 Dodge truck showed up in the parking lot.[ I guess he like mine] They told him to park his next to mine. I loved my 1989 Dodge so much that i kept till 2009 ,then i sold it to a farmer. Never had a bit of trouble with it.
the leak is coming from a bad design in the 3rd brake light gasket. the water leaks through the gasket than collects in the rear storage area. i didn't have that problem untill i went with an aftermarket 3rd brake light. I'll fix it before next winter
The cruise control thing happened to mine too but only once. I don't have the leak though. Mine is also a 2014 but I have a Big Horn. I don't care what they said about getting Ford or Chevy trucks. I love my Ram.
I have a 2012 Ram 1500 that needed the 3rd Brake Light replaced after going through a car wash and water started running down the rear windshield. This probably also happened on my 04 F150. My cruise control is bipolar on the ram and if I press it enough it engages but not a big enough problem yet to take it in.
Well I had a Dodge Ram 1500 and it had so many problems as soon as it reached 70,000 miles it was falling apart. I spent more money repairing it then it was worth and honestly regret getting it.
I put some black silicone adhesive on top of my 3rd brake light. .my cruise button doesn't work some times unless I push kinda hard on it..been replaced once
My 09 had a leak by the rear window because Of the third brake light and a leaking sunroof. My A pillars were a completely different color because of it. And the cruise control is a very common problem on 2012 and up. Keep an eye/ear out for the cracked exhaust manifold bolt. Aka hemi tick. All 5.7 rams get them at some point. Catch it early and its a cheap fix. Too late and its easily a $1k fix.
Don't expect great results from dodge. Ford had similar problems with water. Should have bought tundra. What do you expect from a vehicle that is made in Mexico.
any truck could last just keep up with their maintenance brand does not matter i have had a silverado with 400k and f150 for 450k and currently have a ram with 100k and another ram with 500k so brand doesnt matter at all
Is there anything innovative or serious about GM trucks? Ram has the Ramboxes, storage in the rear floor, Uconnect 8.4 which records the last 45 minutes of satellite radio that you can rewind on up to 12 stations, great sound from the Alpine speakers & subwoofer, air suspension, and a HD quality backup camera. Ford has the tailgate step, trailer backup assist, 360° camera, parking assist, advance cruise control, spotlight mirrors, twin panel sunroof, and an aluminum body whether you hate it or not. The GM trucks have a bumper step and easy to use infotainment system. I believe that's it.
Well you did title it "My RAM 1500 Already Has PROBLEMS" and shouted out "PROBLEMS". Would expect to see some harsh comments. Glad you got it all fixed up! Good looking truck.
I have owned 5 or 6 dodge. 3 I bought new and my 2016 rebel is my current ride. It is my last dodge. I think since Fiat took over the quality has sunk to a new low. My rebel has a air suspension that is garbage and now have the hemi tick. Can’t tell if it’s exhaust or valve yet. I think the MDS fuel management is killing the cams. My last hemi I put 360000 on before it went. FAC is not a company you want to buy anything from, it does not take much of a search on the net to know this. Way to much money for this level of quality and poor service. I’m going to buy a tundra next I couldn’t care less if it’s hardener on gas as at the very least it will last. GM is worse. We bought a Denali truck. It’s way worse than the dodge. Ford or Toyota for me. Hey isn’t that the 2 company that did not go bankrupt lol.
My 2016 Dodge Ram Sport has the same issue with he cruise control and it has a God awful amount of wind noise when you get over 50 mph . Annoying issues for a truck less than a year old .
Leaking 3rd brake light and bad cruise switch ? Easy fixes! as for the power train so far rams are solid the 8 spd trans is a tank the 5.7 is also a tank and very easy to work on,the people with all the problems are those that refuse to do any maintenance and then complain when stuff breaks
I had a new ram 1500 once. Back sliding window fell out Drivers window quit working Only 240 horsepower would barely tow anything. 14 mpg best. Never again!!!
Similar story here. My first new pick up was a 1984 Ram 100 with a slant 6 engine. No 3rd brake light back then, however, rear window leaked. The engine leaked oil from day one. And then the motor started to eat carburetors. The day I picked up the truck, the dealer had it buried in the back. I had to go forward and back about 20 times to get out of there. I never went back to that dealer or Dodge. I'm thinking about a Challenger now, however, FIAT=Fix It Again Tony?
Should have bought this, should have bought that. The problems he had were tiny problems. Typically trucks will have their big or small issues. I'm not even a ram guy
I have had a few rams ford and some chevy only one toyota i got for the oldest i rarely drive and i would say that the 3rd brake light problem is common in all trucks
Mine did the same thing (2014 express cc 4x4) and it drove me crazy. Me and that button had a come to Jesus meeting via beating the crap out of it with my thumb and it's been working since. Also my third brake light did a little a leaking. The factory gasket is cheap. Silicone solved that problem.
Omg I am so frustrated with my Dodge ram !! I have a Dodge ram Laramie, one damn problem after another !! The issues started bad at 90,000 miles and I have put over $4,000 in this piece of shit !! I now have 111,000 miles on this piece of crap and about every 2 weeks something else costing $500 in repairs costs . I treat this truck like gold, drive it no faster than 65 to 70 , never run it hard, abuse it but this crap keeps taking a dump!! Such a beautiful truck I do not even have a bottle cap in my truck !! Wth can I do ?????
My 15 ram 1500 sport 4x4 was the absolute worst new vehicle I have ever had bar none. POS Mine flooded as well & all they wanted to do was air it out 😠 This was a $52,000 brand new loaded truck with leather interior. That's just 1 issue & the one that put me over the edge. I now have a trouble free f150 @ 15,000 miles with absolutely no problems.
Sad to see my 15 had the same issue leaking threw the 3rd brake light as you & that they never cared to fix it. My ram was also the only new vehicle that I ever had with a silver dollar sized rust spot in the fender. This had never ever seen snow let alone salt. Metal on metal sunroof contacting locations, guess they couldn't afford grease, rod knock, slipping trans, condensation in light housings,& could see the driveway threw the bed floor after it had been spray lined.
I mean we bought a couple dodge's and rams and the first year of ownership the car has a few small problems but after that they are pretty reliable and they don't have problems. Reliability test's are done by the first year of ownership and dodge's are not very reliable their first year for some reason. But after the first year they hold up really good. We've also owned a couple fords and they are the opposite. They hold up very good the first year but after that you find tons of problems and everything breaks and malfunctions. Stay away from fords. I don't have enough experience from chevy's to say anything. If you want a car that will really hold up it's better to just stay away from American cars.
had an 06 and now a 16 ram. 06 went to 212k and was still running when i traded. my 16 now has 32k and its been fine. Wouldnt buy a Ford or Chevy and Toyotas are way over priced.
I had a 99 Cummins that had the same leak lol. It was a 20 year old seal. Easiest fix once I figured it out.

I put some black silicone adhesive on top of my 3rd brake light. .my cruise button doesn't work some times unless I push kinda hard on it..been replaced once
fiat trucks, gotta love them
There's nothing fiat on that truck
Tyvek Homewrap the dependability is fiat
Tyvek Homewrap their interiors are made by fiat....
Tyvek Homewrap Well, Fiat pretty much owns Chrysler products at this point, so yeah...
FarhantheMovieGuy. AKA: MasterMovieSimulator9000 they also own 50% of Cummins, what's your point?
It's leaking from the 3rd brake light. There's a gasket around it. Probably just needs to be tightened up with a screwdriver
Not a very good video that proves nothing......Ford and Chevy both have their share of problems as well
My 09 had a leak by the rear window because Of the third brake light and a leaking sunroof.
1500s are made in America. It's the 2500/3500s that are made in Mexico.
TopDawg, some made in Mexico even 1500s.
Ah, you're right, I stand corrected. lol
my tacoma was made in Mexico not a single problem in 6 years
Mrchubakkaa, very interesting, did not know that. I had nissan that was made in Mexico and it was a headache, problem after problem.
My wife's 2011 town and country's cruise does the same exact thing only works when it feels like.
It's a dodge what do u expect? pretty much the shittiest American car you can get.
Ya Wan Shum sounds like you haven't owned a dodge
Ya Wan Shum Canadian car you mean
It's not anymore actually, after the companies merged RAM isn't made by dodge anymore, it's Fiat
Let me guess....you're a Chevy fan lol
Had exact same problems plus 10-15 more which is why it got traded in after 6 months. Never again Mopar products
Buy yourself a Silverado bud😁😁 they will last
My Chevy need a transmission and valve job before 75,000 miles
HD_02nbs chevy is worse.i own 3 work trucks, they have had plenty of problems.
had that same leak problem/ It was the back window so what the dealership did was reseal the back window
to each their own, but ive never used cruise control regularly in my entire life... (dont get me wrong, it should work!)
any truck could last just keep up with their maintenance brand does not matter i have had a silverado with 400k and f150 for 450k and currently have a ram with 100k and another ram with 500k so brand doesnt matter at all
Should of bought a chevy buddy.
Ben Sandoval he wanted a truck that could run so he didn't choose a chevy but he made the mistake of buying a ram
Typical fanboy, 2 minor problems and you say he shouldnt have bought dodge, and put a shirt on douchebag nobody cares
Ben Sandoval Chevy is more reliable and even easier to fix my grandad is a mechanic he told me this
Ben Sandoval chevy lacks in power any Ram can out preform a slow ass Chevy
Well you did title it "My RAM 1500 Already Has PROBLEMS" and shouted out "PROBLEMS". Would expect to see some harsh comments. Glad you got it all fixed up! Good looking truck.
The standing water is from the third brake light it's a super common problem
The most important is that the company is fixing problems. Some companies like Ford sucks when it comes to fixing things!
You'd think they would've replaced the headliner too.
Our 2014 Ram had bad paint. Also check under your doors because we've seen a lot where the doors were not fully painted on the bottom.
All of the American trucks are great trucks. Unfortunately the gmc is less than 50% made in the USA but they are still great trucks.
Had the same issue with the third break light on my 2015 Ram. The dealer fixed it and its never leaked since.
I had this 2015 express but the only issue I had was the radio I had the radio replaced 4xs, I finally traded it...
Leak is the 3rd break light. Same happened to my 2015 ram
I have a 2014 Ram 4 x 4 and I to have a problem with my cruise control button. I'll be taking my truck in for that problem as well..
I had a new ram 1500 once.
Back sliding window fell out
Drivers window quit working
Only 240 horsepower would barely tow anything. 14 mpg best.
Never again!!!
3rd brake lamps began by law in 1986 dude. Fiat motor company runs ram. Good luck
Should’ve got a Hemi
"Guys I have a problem. I took my truck to the gas station and the needle is on F."
I'm happy that all I had was a leaking windshield.
quick question what happened to your Ford truck?
Check and see if you need the side curtain airbag recall
I hope it's not the 5.7 hemi motor. The lifters they used are crap, that will destroy the cam
Check the seal for cabine exterior stop light i replaced my,no more water inside
Bro I saw the furniture building, the big orange one on spring cypress and I realized I fucking live in his area😂
I had a leak from the 3rd brake light and got new katskin interior from dodge. annoying but they hooked it up.
Leaking from the 3rd brake light I bet. My 08 did the same thing.
where did you get your interior led lights? also do you have the bulb number of them?
I'm a big fan of that FX4 on the back there
My 15 ram 1500 sport 4x4 was the absolute worst new vehicle I have ever had bar none.
POS
Mine flooded as well & all they wanted to do was air it out 😠
This was a $52,000 brand new loaded truck with leather interior.
Had a Chevy stopped going forward and backwards out of nowhere no signs or anything. Just stopped going forward reverse stuck in neutral. Smh.
That leake is coming from the rear window my dad has the same problem with his 2012 dodge truck
Rams are the best no matter what
Meanwhile I'm rockin my 2002 Sierra 1500 with 330,000kms and no issues!
Luv all your videos, keep up the great work !!!!
6500 kelvin? prefer somthing closer to 1500k too industrial looking for your LED lights
yea my truck had same leak..coming from seal in back window..had my seat drenched
Hey thanks for the video. I do have one question, did you manage to find out where was the leaking problem from and how did you fix it? Thanks
@RP Productions does it feel weird not having a truck anymore?
You should see all the problems I have with my 2015! I'm letting everyone know!
Yep. Dodge. Been there bud, hope it all gets worked out.
you think it will last like Japanese cars?
You're in Conroe? I'm from that area as well. I thought I recognized all of those shopping centers haha
My 2002 Chevy 1500 Z71 160.000 mi, zero problems, zero! LOL.
Have any rust issues with your ram ??
I would be more concerned about problem #2 than problem #1.
had an 06 and now a 16 ram. 06 went to 212k and was still running when i traded. my 16 now has 32k and its been fine. Wouldnt buy a Ford or Chevy and Toyotas are way over priced.
