    Your videos are aimed at those that intend to visit the country of India as a first timer and very useful. Not once have you said "don't come it's terrible" or anything negative about its people so dont see why you get negative comments. Keep up the good work and enjoy yourself. 👍✌️

      Thank you, I’ve been surprised at the amount of negativity on these India videos. Some of which hasn’t even made it public. As I said to someone who responded, I’m not showing an only negative side, nor an only positive side. I’m just trying to show a balanced side from a visitor. Sad thing about the internet of course is it really brings out the trolls. I met wonderful people in India and had a great time there. Doesn’t change the difficulties though.

      @@ChrisKermis if u point out the negatives most of the people think u r "defaming" the country. Unfortunately that's how the critical thinking levels of most of these people have been reduced to in the past 10 years.
      They don't want to hear healthy criticism just praise whether it's warranted or not

    One of the best video with the accurate information. If you still interested to visit India and you have an appetite for spicy food you ll have the best vacation you could ever ask for. And if you are not that much into food or pub culture go to a suburb area or villages for even better experience of the country.

    For those who complain that he did not talk about UPI, folks understand that UPI is not easy to enable if you are not an Indian. I know it because a lot my Indian relatives have now become citizens of USA and Canada and they say UPI is difficult for them to enable despite visiting Indian several times. Even if they manage to enable it, there is usually a limit 5000 rupees in it. So yes, while UPI maybe the worlds best system, it is only easy if you are an Indian citizen.

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback. Pretty much what I was thinking, a great system for Indian citizens but not something that a visitor will likely use.

      UPI requires a bank account. Banks don't allow foreigners to start a bank account. Mobile money in other countries (eg Kenya) is much more is tourist-friendly.

    The hotel you stayed in looks gorgeous, looks very Mediterranean. I've been to India, everything you've said is correct. You just have to adapt to enjoy. Expect to be touched a lot in public, expect smelly places and people, expect headaches and migraines from the all the noise, expect delays in traffic it's very normal, expect asthma attacks and other health issues like an upset stomach from eating out, don't drink straight from the tap it's not hygienic, expect to see random fights on the streets, expect to be harassed by beggars, expect to be spoken to in Hindi even if you're a foreigner, and expect scammers, they're everywhere.

    Hello. You didn't talk about local SIM cards and Internet providers. I will need to buy a local SIM card with data when arriving in New Delhi, for 15 days. Which provider do you recommend?

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  14 дней назад

      I just use an eSIM to save the trouble of waiting in the airport, which is a pain in Delhi

  • @agnosticthom

    Another important issue is, traffic sense and honking. Big cities really have this problem. Whatever built as highways and expressways may not matter much for daily lives. City infrastructure is really important and all our big cities are really in pathetic condition in terms of infrastructure. Plus, it’s really very important to educate also here..

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  2 месяца назад +1

      Some of those streets in Varanasi can certainly get pretty crazy and it feels that in places the infrastructure can’t support the amount of people there

    • @agnosticthom
      @agnosticthom 2 месяца назад

      @@ChrisKermis old city . City expansion should keep happening in a planned way. There will definitely be a point when the centre of economy shifts in the city and that will decrowd the congested places.
      This issue of inadequate infrastructure is in most major cities across India.

  • @agnosticthom
    @agnosticthom 2 месяца назад +1

    I like your review. I absolutely agree with you. However there is one issue I see. There is always a section of society that wants to go against government. Swachh bharat (clean India) campaign was launched some years ago but there are people who just oppose for the sake of it and purposely don’t follow cleaning. How to tackle these? The broken window theory is also at the play here.
    I think just single initiatives like government or ngo cannot work here. There is a need for collective effort of government, civil society, businesses, educational institutes, etc etc everyone’s collective effort is needed..

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  2 месяца назад

      I get that. It’s not infrequent that societies effectively shoot themselves in the foot because they don’t agree with government. I’ve seen it many times in many different situations. Improvement here had to come from many sources as you say with collective effort. Education is key, and that can come from the ground up as well.

  • @agnosticthom
    @agnosticthom 2 месяца назад

    Third issue is lot of people from villages visit cities and they stare at foreign faces. How to educate the people at root levels that it induces fear for the visitors if people stare like that? I can 100% guarantee that atleast 95% stare only because they will be seeing different people from their own race for the first time.

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  9 месяцев назад +12

      There is nothing negative about it. It's a very real picture of a busy street in Varanasi, India's incredible and vibrant holy city. I have no idea why you would find a picture of this place disrespectful. Should I just show a picture of a shiny mall in Gurugram? That's not India, it's just a part. I think whatever I say you will take offense. It's a shame, India really is an incredible and hugely diverse country - In my videos I will show different sides. Not just negative or positive.
