Watches In The Sopranos: Seiko Flightmaster, Rolex, Oris, Zenith +More

- Today we revisit one of my favorite subjects on the channel, but instead of talking about watches in movies, we discuss watches in one of the most influential shows in TV history. After recently rewatching The Sopranos, I was surprised to learn that there was more to the detailed wardrobe styling on the show than tracksuits and Tony Soprano’s Day-Date. Among some of the glorious horological finds is the Seiko Flightmaster SNA411-a Gentry classic, one of the coolest chronographs ever made by Zenith, an uncommon Oris Worldtimer, a Piaget inspired by real-world gangsters, a collection of fascinating Cartier timepieces, and so much more! So, grab yourself a plate of baked ziti, a glass of Chianti, and settle in for some essential viewing for any horology and TV fan.

That Fila jumpsuit is something straight out of Christopher Moltisanti's wardrobe.
YESSSSSS!!! LOL :D
Thank you,
Best regards
TGV
They're still walking around in them in Middlesbrough. 🙄
Molto Bene!
I was thinking more Paulie Gotierri lol thanks for this video, I absolutely LOVED the soprano's, loved every minute
that was a great inclusion, I actually had more of a vintage style Adidas set myself, not sure if I had many opp to wear it. I wonder if I still have that...
There was FBI Agent Harris wearing a Timex, the dial shown full screen. A very deliberate act don't you think?
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
EXCELLENT observation and thank you for sharing that.
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry You could even hear it ticking! Just as loud as in real life. lol
Yeah he made me!
Instantly thought of this when in saw the title of the video
Season 3 Episode 1 - Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood. I'm watching the episode right now!
FBI Agent Dwight Harris played by Matt Servitto is wearing a Timex Indiglo Quartz.
I am loving these more and more elaborate Hugo clips! 😂
Best intro ever. I could watch it all day. Incredible. You are a genius.
Thank you so much Max :D
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry yes hes right :) this is one of your best intros :D.. but one cant compare it to the other style of intros 🧐🤗... Btw how is hugo back in jail.. did he "clip" a waiter for not having enough burger patties on storage ?🙈
Hopefuly You dont have problems with copyright
So I assume Hugo is a made guy!?
In general there are far too many hails about «genius» this and that on youtube for my taste. TGV is no genius but probably a hard working professional with good taste and charm. The intro is well done, if not a little too busy with repetitions and fancy effects. And don’t forget this is put together with premade video clips purchased from a getty library or similar. So, no this isn’t really that impressive. It’s more to do with the fact that you likely don’t know much about video editing, after effects etc. Leonardo da Vinci was a genius. Read some history.
Just when I thought I was out, Urban Gentry pull’s me back in 🤣😂
The greatest TV show ever made. Period! That intro haha brilliant!! I never understood the fascination with the tracksuit by certain Italian Americans. It always seemed to go against the classic style of the mafia 😅
Josh Charlie nah. It’s a well loved and respected show from a time shows did not have very good production values, so it stood up. But it can’t hold a candle against modern shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men or Mr Robot.
Luis Mercado it absolutely can and does. The writing is standout.
Tracksuit is comfortable and versatile. It's cheap, quick to put on, cleans easily, and doesn't restrict your movement. And you can wear it pretty much anywhere - at home, at a gym, running errands, whatever. Great for a person with a busy lifestyle. Just throw it on and go. It takes much more time and effort to get yourself in a suit. Tracksuits were popular amongst many people in the 80s and 90s, not just the Italians. Although I can definitely see why someone like Chris or Paulie would wear it. It's much easier to beat someone up wearing a tracksuit, than a three peice.
@@LuisMercadoorg What? None of those shows are anywhere close to Sopranos in terms of quality. Go back to kindergarten, little kid.
@@LuisMercadoorg While I can't comment on Mr. Robot, Breaking Bad just isn't as good a show. The characters aren't (beyond Walter White) just aren't as nuanced and relatable.
Mad Men makes my top ten, though and is on par in terms of writing and style and actually has more and stronger female characters. But Tony will always be boss and his show set the standard for these later series.
Would love to see this as a series "Watches of X-Files" etc
I'm rewatching Soprano's whilst listening to the podcast. I got into wearing watches during the lockdown and now when I watch something I always notice the watches in the show. Thanks for making this video.
Thanks to you I started " The Sopranos" series yesterday and I've just finished the first season. It's like a drug for me this kind of TV show. I'm a Sicilian, so you can image! Very thank you for your watch reviews! I look forward to buying one of the mentioned watches, maybe I'll start with the Seiko SNA411, I really like it!!! Ciao e a presto!
This "new phase" is amazingly funnier and interesting! Really mature format for the show. Keep the awesome job and don't got stucked under a specific content ever again matte! Cheers from 🇧🇷
Hugo an honorary member of the Sopranos haha
“That ship has sailed...” Lol too funny. Great intro!
I think you may have just encouraged me to finally get around to watching the Sopranos for the first time
..
DO IT!!!!!!
You will not regret it, I envy you seeing it for the first time, enjoy!
Best regards,
TGV
For the first time?! Dude. Where have you been.
Wow , I wish i hadn’t!
So I could watch it again.
You either start to watch it soon, or I will rain a sh*tstorm down on you and your family like you have NEVER f***ing seen. 😂👌🏻
I second this. I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. Thanks for the push, TGV!
Wow...really love Sopranos...a very dynamic series that always keep you on the edge of your seat...please do more videos like this!
It's high time Hugo's squeeze makes an appearance.
This needs to happen😂😂😂
Just watching this I laughed out remembering the Oris Vito scene.
The way he builds it up and then explodes is just pure comedy genius.
Thanks for posting; I’ve now decided to get out the box set and go again this weekend.
“Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in”
I love that you did a video on the Sopranos! My favorite TV series and quite a collection of watches to talk about. The one I always notice is Carmela's two-tone Datejust. In fact, that was the first watch I noticed on the series when I first watched it.
How much is Hugo’s bail? I’ll pitch in a couple of bucks....
I enjoy your videos very much. Your insightful commentary and overall brilliant discussions always leave me asking for more. It is a pleasure to hear one that is so well versed!
Just been rewatching and introducing the Sopranos with my wife during lock down. Was looking at the watches. No one does this kind of review but you! Loved it. Keep it coming TGV love your channel . Thanks for your great content
That was a great video...top form TGV👏
Amazing video! I was too young to watch when it came out. Watched it for the first time a year ago and it instantly became my favourite show.
Just started to watch Sopranos again... I never was a Rolex fan but the way Tony rocks it.. Classic... Suits the character and - for me - adds to the heritage of the company as well. Awesome video again! Cheers from Hungary
Got so excited when I saw this video! Sopranos is my favorite show by far and seeing you dive into the watches was so cool! "If there are any flies on you, they must be paying rent!"
I also did rewatched The Sopranos in the beginnnig of the lockdown. Like the 7th or 8th time already. And the first time since the great James Gandolfini died. R.I.P Big man
Loved the editing of the phone conversation. Absolutely brilliant sir! 👍🏻
loved the video, all your vids are so informative and enjoyable. Keep up the brilliant work!
Thanks a ton, onwards and upwards!
Best regards,
TGV
Fantastic intro, so much fun. Liked The Soprano when it aired. Thank you for highlighting the watches in the show.
Rewatched Sopranos, Mad Men, and The Wire during Quarantine - my 3 favorite shows. Great video! Keep it up sir!
YESSSSSSSS!!! I love your taste in telly,
Thank you my friend, you are awesome and have impeccable taste.
Best regards,
TGV
Great video on my favorite show, must’ve watched it five times, and there’s always something new to enjoy. Keep it up, T 👍🏻
Great timing. I just started rewatching last week
An absolute brilliant video TGV. I'm a huge fan of your channel and the Soprano's show. Thanks for the humor and all your hard work educating me on watches. Blessings!!!
Your timeline / plot for your episode is spot on. Great show.
Amazing intro. That accent kills me every time. “Steady on, old boy” hahaha. Great video as always. Cheers!
Great video! Very entertaining! So cool to have you back to your roots!! 👍
TGV, this installment is possibly my favorite. Hard to judge though as you've posted some incredible content. I loved the intro, very clever and undoubtedly funny. The watches featured in the show almost seem like product placements. They almost seem to go out of their way to flaunt the watches. BTW, on another note, I'm driving my wife crazy now because whenever we watch television I am constantly pausing to get another look at someone's watch to get a better look. You did that to me! 😁
the jumpsuit! Was not expecting that LOL
This might be the best video on the internet. Probably my two favourite things combined 👍
haha the velour track suit is great. Great vid Tristano!
hugo never had the makings of a varsity athlete
small arms
He can run, tho
Excellent humor.
Ohhhh I love The Sopranos!!!! Great video TGV as always!!
TGV I come here often, and rarely if at all do I leave disappointed. You have some crazy, comedic genius within yourself ol' boy! Cheers.
Good timing on this, I was just starting season 3 for the third time and I've been bummed out at the lack of watch info online.
Also Richie Aprile's Cartier Tank and the definitely fake Daytona that Rosalie gave to Father Intintola!
Your level of research and in-depth knowledge is always amazing. Truly the sign of enthusiasm for the hobby. Thanks for everything that you do.
If you ever need another mission, I've tried looking up which brands sponsored, or were the official time keeper of, the 24 Hours of Le Mans race over the years but found very little (because I'm a newb). Maybe you could do a video on this, F1, etc. I once saw a picture of a F91-W on a Schumacher steering wheel.
Hey, TGV. Another entertaining and informative video from my favorite watch channel. Loved the skit in the beginning with hugo😂😂
What research ! Terrific !
It’s eery how you seem to release videos at times that are perfectly relevant in my life
Subscribed!!!! One of your best posts to date....really appreciate the amount of time you put into this!
this is a very, VERY good theme for videos... the watches of our favorite and classic TV shows and films... nicely done..
Super vid.Loved all the watches. Great intro. Thanks TGV. SEIKO IS KING !!!
Thx for sharing your fantastic knowledge!
What timing.. currently watching an episode of season 6 as this was uploaded. Also have loved Vito's Oris!
Fantastic to hear, Enjoy!!! We were so sad when it ended, we started again :D
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Excellent video with the best intro I've seen on RUclips. I still watch the old shows even though I watched the original airing. Have you done this for other programs such as Mad Men?
Wow, awesome video, The Sopranos is my favorite show ever and I loved watches as well, keep doing these videos, greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
That Zenith is gorgeous. I haven't seen that model before but love the splash of colour.
I love what you do with Hugo on the intros, best one yet
Fantastic! Awesome work
Super interesting. Have to get the box sets out again now
That intro was hilarious 😂 thanks man!
Great video as always!, i just rewatchd the series and noticed alot of Movados i now Paulie Walnuts and Antony Junior wore several different Movado models.
This is one of your best videos!
Excellent excellent video this is one of my favorites.
Epic Intro! That Velour Track Suit Was Proper Mate. Cheers good Chap
I just stumbled across this channel about 3 weeks ago and I'm absolutely hooked! Fantastic channel 👏 👍
Great video once again... Seems like you are fast becoming an iso essential! Don’t know about the track suit though...
Great video Tristano, I love the creativity of the introduction.
Hope you and your family are doing well.
Excellent work, Mr TGV. Watching this video was a joy. Seiko Flightmaster... what is not to like?!
My wife and I just finished The Sopranos, her first time watching it, my third. Her wedding gift to me was a Navitimer, and I definitely remember seeing one at some point during the series and was sure to pause it and point it out to her.
I have been waiting for this video!! Haha so many awesome watches
You're a man of my heart TGV... brilliant!!
I like spotting watches in TV shows and films, my favourite is still the Heuer Autavia in The Exorcist, was over the moon when I spotted it even if it is very prominent in the scene.
Amazing intro. By far the greatest series that’s ever been made
That intro is seamless, stunning work really. 👍
Great Video TGV! I love the Scene in which the pastor explains how cool it is to stop the time with his new daytona :-)
Best series ever !!! Can we have a Mad Men episode ?! Great video 👍
Excellent video ! I’m currently watching this marvelous show for the fourth time :)
oh man i have just started the video and i am so glad that you chose this topic 😍 i would suggest a follow up episode about the watches in gomorra, they have some gems 💎
YESSSSSSS!!!! Best Italian TV show of all time. LOVE the book too.
Thank you, great recommendation.
Best regards,
TGV
Fantastic video, TGV. I remember watching the Sopranos from start to finish. This was a great intro😊🇮🇹👍
Brilliant summary, thanks! Sent the vid straight away to my brother. He is a massive maffia/watch fan..
Brilliant Intro TGV. You're solidly back in your usual fine form. Never did like The Sopranos, like watching paint dry. But that was a long time ago. It's likely hugely binge-worthy so I'll give it a go!
Well??
Great watch spotting! In addition to the pieces you mentioned, I recall a character in Season 6(?) who wanted out of the Family bringing Tony some David Yurman watches as gifts....but we never see them on screen. Also, the fact Meadow wore a Daytona (as a teenager in the show) is absolutely obnoxious. All in all this was a great video, one of the best in my opinion. Great to see you back in form.
Excellent episode!
I'd love to see Hugo Mountbatten and Joe Pesci critique movies in a channel. I'm enjoying my recently acquired Flighty after all your recommendations. Great video, Tristano.
Really loved your idea for Soprano's wathces (my favourite show) and really enjoyed this episode. Salute
Lol 😆 the intro is che vidiamo next time!!! Hilarious
Great edits and audio!
The patek gift is my favorit watch sceene in the sopranos, 2 is how boss Tony and his Day-Date looks in every outfit
YESSSSSS!!!! So true, I have to fight myself not to just where mine with everything,
Thank you Valdon,
Best regards,
TGV
Never noticed the Seiko Flightmaster. And it is on the bracelet - my favorite way to wear it! You dont see that often.
Jiří Krkoška recently put mine back on its bracelet and have to say I like it after years of wearing it on leather.
I love your editing ! Very awesome video and great information!
I’d love to see a video on pocket watches of “Boardwalk Empire”. Steve bucemi played that roll perfectly!
Great video tgv ❤️ as always 😃👍
In one of the later seasons, Uncle Junior pays a debt to a caretaker in the nursing home with a vintage Bulova. I was confused by this because I always took his watch on the show to be a Datejust. But Bulova did make the “Super Seville” line that was an homage to DJs and DDs. I felt Bulova suited Junior well given his best years were in the 60s when most Americans would have known Bulova before they knew Rolex. Just some thoughts! Loved this episode!
Great video. Thanks.
I beat you to the punch on the Sopranos watch thing!!! I'm kidding. Fantastic video. Great presentation. Great editing. Lovely.
When Uncle Junior is incarcerated after shooting Tony, he bribes one of the guards with his Bulova.
Amazing video, I never paid attention to any watches since the show was so interesting
Brilliant intro and a brilliant video!
Muchas gracias por el video, estoy viendo The Sopranos por cuarta vez y siempre me fijé en el énfasis que hacían con los relojes. Saludos!
Great video idea! Sopranos is probably the greatest series of all time in my opinion.
Hahaha! Fantastic intro!! "You talkin' to me??" :-)
LOL ;-)
Grazie fratello,
Best regards,
TGV
Great show. Great watches. Great review as always, TGV. 👌🏼
Thank you, thank you and thank you :D
O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
