- We've discussed James Bond and his watches to death, but what about the watches worn by his nemeses? In this video I explore a variety of watches worn by the top villains of the 007 franchise, their hidden meanings, and their significance to the movies and Bond universe. From Alec Trevelyan's Omega Seamaster in GoldenEye, and Blofeld's Patek in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, to Le Chiffre's Longines in Casino Royale, a surprising Seiko worn by Max Zorin in A View to a Kill, and Scaramanga's Rolex in The Man with the Golden Gun (plus many more!) this video is essential viewing for fans of the Bond franchise and its infamous, eccentric baddies. Join me for a brand new episode featuring two of my favorite subjects-watches and movies-where we'll take a super fun look at what happens when cinematic villainy and horology combine.

A true supervillain wears Daniel Wellington.
🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA!
Daniel Wellington is actually a great name for a villain. Daniel Wellington and his top henchman Hugo Mountbatten - I like that.
@@chronocommander007 Villain Daniel Wellington and his orbital laser weapon called the "Vincero", built by his underground secret organization called MVMT
LOL!!!
YES! Absolutely loving another Bond related video! Christoper Lee’s Rolex King Midas is my favorite Bond villain watch
I just got a Longines Spirit and I LOVE IT. You should check one out. I think Longines have really been making an effort these last yew years and to me it shows - I think they're starting to come back and some of their current watches are really helping to re-forge their identity. I include the Legend Diver and the Spirit collection in this.
I’ve had my eye on a blue Legend Diver… I don’t truly dislike any of their designs.
Add the new Ultra-Chron to that list of stunning recent Longines releases!
You forgot Klaus Schwab from the evil WEF. The next real life bond villain. Definitely Blofelds sibling.
Also my favorite from these honorable mentions is the Longines Legend Diver!! The reissue of this watch is probably the only watch in their catalog that excites me and for good reason. It has a timeless looking dial and can be worn dressed up or as casual as you want. With the internal rotating bezel, dual crowns, gorgeous dial and compressor technology this watch is still amazing! Great video sir thank you.
I loved the fact that Alec kept his original seamaster through his descent into madness and rage to become the dark shadow of James Bond. The “ah - a new model” scene was awesome. I loved the opening scene of goldeneye. Where 006 and 006 were what we know now as special forces operators today.
Exactly, 006 had the "previous" 00-issued Omega Seamaster.
Two of my favorite things, watches and movies! Thanks for the awesome video TGV!
PS: You would make an excellent Bond villain, but if you come for my watches, expect a fight.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Duly noted, I expect nothing less! Thank you my friend.
Always honored by your support.
Best regards,
TGV
Always interesting to see what watches pop up in older movies and compare it to todays lineup. The feel and look is truly different
That Longines on the wrist of Mads really caught my eye in the movie itself, as did the red Michael Shumacher speedy on the wrist of the dealer of the card game!
TGV, this is one of your best, most informative and interesting videos ever. I can only imagine how many hours of work went into its production. You are a master craftsman in the field of short documentaries. Thank you very much.
I think it is a bit unfair speaking of Longines. Lately they starting to do things right again I think. Ultra-Chron, Spirit Zulu Time, and I mean there is no alternative for the Master Collection Chrono with Moonphase and annual calendar. At least for the money….
If memory serves me well Sean Bean said after looking at Pierce Brosnan's watch said, "I see they have a new model." So I'm guessing yeah? Double 0's were issued Omegas.
Great video TGV! The literary Hugo Drax wore a “plain gold Patek Philippe on a black leather strap”, although the book did not take place in space unlike the film… So perhaps you are right, the gold dress watch is the ultimate Bond villain watch. Keep up these fantastic and entertaining videos!
Such a great choice for him, thank you Alexander!
Very much appreciated.
Best regards,
TGV
Descriptions in the novels were SO detailed...
Bravo TGV, thanks for the content, was very educational; You merged reality (history) and fiction very well.
I hope all of your work will be acknowledged. Some day, I will head back to your archive. Stay well
Great video as usual. Never even thought about the 007 villains wearing watches. May need to have to watch all the film's again just to take a look. Have yourself a cracking weekend sir 👍
Just a fantastic video! Thank you! As for Bond baddies…… Blofeld? I’ve never even met Feld!
Ba-dum-tsss
@@Parocha I thank you!
@@gervers don't get me wrong... I love a good dad joke / pun 😂
Thunderball on VHS was most likely the beginning of my watch obsession.
What an a classy place to start.
LOVE IT!
Thank you,

@@theurbangentry This channel is all class! Thank you kind sir and keep up the amazing work, Salut!
Thanks for that video. There was a French company by the name of Solex, nowadays Magneti Marelli, and they made first radiators and later carburetors and mopeds, I believe.
Also in the very next film the villan was called stromberg another carburetor maker .
This is a great topic for a video, thank you for all the great information TGV.
Fantastic, Tristano!!!!! Can't wait to watch this one! Absolutely fantastic idea. Can't wait to hear your breakdown of the watches of some of the villains of one of, if not, THE most entertaining movie franchise ever! Question though, is Ms. Galore a villain or does she become a heroine? Gotta admit her choice of watch was perfect! Thank you as always. Be well. Onward and upward, my friend!
I love your movie related watch videos. Meticulous research as always TGV. I would be interested to see if you could identify the many watch types in the Mad Men series. Just an idea.
Good work fella.
The beautiful patek is pronounced elipse not eclipse..lol
Brilliant TGV I am grinning from cheek to cheek in reminisce of my childhood days watching the vintage bond movies on T-n-T.
Sir Christopher Lee hands down my favorite Bond villan and one of my favorite actor's of all time. Rip
👏👏👏👏 As A British-Italian, he is something of a personal hero for me.
Not many of us around 🙏😎
Thank you LWM,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry He was unique, kool and a class act who never disappointed
The soundtrack of this video is absolutely incredible.
Great video and a really good look into a particular genre of film making that is synonymous with a few brand, particularly Omega and Seiko. It makes me wonder how the product placement ‘industry has evolved and what sums would be achievable these days?
Watches and James Bond, great topic for conversation 👏 👍
Your mention of Sean Bean and Sharpe got me recalling just how great an actor and a series they are.
Fantastic video. Here’s a fun question - what watch does Col. Hans Landa wear? You can see him wearing an elegant, slim rectangular dress watch in the “Strudel” scene. I’ve seen speculation that it’s a Gruen Curvex or IWC Cal. 87.
Watches and James Bond....two of my favorite things! Well done sir!
This was an excellent video. I of course knew of many of the watches Bond was wearing from various videos and articles on the internet, but not what the villains were wearing. I didn't know Longines/Hamilton were also in these movies. I did know about the Breitling appearance in Thunderball. Very nice work here.
Little note to the mention of scars at around 18:00: the fencing was (and is to this day) not exclusive to military academies but is practiced by fraternity students at all German universities. For example the depicted Otto Skorzeny got his scars from a total of 13 Mensuren while being a student of mechanical engineering at the (civilian) TU Wien, quite a while before becoming involved with any state organised form of military
I wonder what the next chapter holds for Bond, with a completely new cast? It would be great to see the franchise mixing the watch choices up again...a move away from Omega perhaps?
Great video as always, thanks so much!!
@@polygoncoco of course, but someone else could always step in with a better offer/higher bid. Depends on the contract. Tudor would be a good choice for Bond
A very good episode,I have not thought about the villains watches, only their evil lairs. Some of which are quite fantastic, such as Blofeld"s Baja California house, The Elrod House, from Diamonds are Forever.
007 brought me to wristwatch's.Fantastic video
The Longines watches at the end are cool - the legend diver
Very informative.
Always enjoy your channel, it’s so refreshing from the usual Rolex obsessed content providers
Telly Savalas should be featured here for his watches during his time in Kojak, wearing an Omega LED watch and the 1978 Day-Date Rolex President
unbelievable how much work must go into these videos. still and always one of the best channels on youtube.
Thank you so much Fabian, I very much appreciate that.
Onwards and upwards!

My God this goes far beyond 'watch reviews'!!!! Fantastic video
Watches and Bond? This is just what I needed on a Friday. Thanks again for another great video
Always a pleasure,
Thank you,

Omg YES!!! I can’t wait to sit down later tonight, have a snack, and watch this video with my full attention. Your videos are like movies, the production quality is out of this world, and your topics are always interesting!
Thank you so much, I deeply, deeply appreciated that, you are kind to share those inspiring words.
Onwards and upwards my friend.

Flemming described Red Grant as wearing a Girard-Perregaux chronograph on a battered brown strap in From Russia With Love.
It’s Ellipse not Eclipse. Slip of the tongue I assume! Sorry to point it out. Great video as always.
Mentioning Inglorious Basterds reminded me of that viewing experience. One of the best I’ve ever experienced. Fully packed screening in the Beckenham Odeon and not a single sound from the audience the whole way through, it was pure cinematic bliss. The whole audience were captivated by the numerous tense scenes. I’ll never forget that night.
Thank you so much. Haha, my dyslexia strikes again! 😂😂
Best regards,
TGV
Wow the bracelet on that Heuer Airliner GMT is so cool.👍👍
Great stuff as usual TGV. Le Chiffre was a great recent villain for sure. 👍
I so very much enjoyed this. I have been a movie enthusiast for as long as I have been into watch collecting. I especially enjoyed seeing Christopher Walken playing Vincent Coccotti in True Romance. All things aligned for me here...being of Sicilian heritage, a huge Quentin Tarantino fan and a lifelong collector of timepieces. Bravo, Tristano, very well done as always.
Thanks, TGV, for another great story on watches and movies
Awesome work, once again! Le Chiffre was definitely the coolest of all Bond villains for me as well.
Great writing and production!
Your videos are always captivating and enjoyable to watch. You bring a real educational experience and pleasure. 10/10/22.
Fascinating! I had forgotten Telly Savalas was in a Bond movie! Great vid!
Hands down - getting all wound up and bracing myself to strap in for your would be timeless masterpiece. Wonder who would defend the crown?
Love it, love it we definitely need second part, James Bond gets better and better no doubt thanks again for making, this very cool video of all incredible Villains, I love it , The Fortis you wearing is one of my favorite watches in Collection, looks good you..until next time from St George Utah 👋...
TGV, your videography and creativity skills really stand out in this video... the presentation is absolutely breathtaking 💪
Thank you sir! 🙏😎

TGV
Sharpes Rifles! lol I may have been the only American kid with every episode on VHS.
I always wondered what Le Chiffre was wearing in Casino Royale. That Longines makes perfect sense now!
3:35 I can picture TGV about 30 years older, with an eye scar, shaved head, and a Mao suit, locking James Bond in a cage with a T-Rex. The evil scheme of course being to eliminate every watch brand and replace them all with Hublot.
Brilliant observations my friend. Well done, TGV.
Great pick at 1. Great villain and great watch!
My week has been made! Best James Bond villain watches on The Urban Gentry and best dressed villains on The Gentleman’s Gazette!
Fantastic job. I actually collect Bond watches and moon watches. One of the original and iconic watches of Bond was the Gruen seen at the gambling table. I have one in working order in my collection.
Great timing I just finished rewatching all the Bond movies from Dr No to Die another Day. I plan on finishing Craig movies after a bit of a break. All of them are available on Amazon Prime Video. I found myself doing what you did trying to identify as many watches as I could. While wearing my Submariner and Seamaster as applicable. Loved the video.
Awesome video. I love mixing in movies and other subjects with Watches. I especially love the Seiko in this video. Because SEIKO IS KING !!!
Even Mathis from the Craig era wore a nice Hamilton khaki quartz, great vid as always!
Superb video, now I know why I wear my gold watch when I feel naughty but classy.
Fantastic! Class presentation.
Great video - and very happy to see a fellow Dane, topping the list 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰 Now, why not make a video on watches from the latest brilliant version of "Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy"? Oustanding movie with outstanding watches.
You got the cube from hellraiser.....true movie guru.....I'm ready for my next lesson sensei
First off, I love the Bond content on TUG. It's just excellent, always well researched, and enriches my watching experience every time I go back to the films (which the episodes always lead me to do). Second, I would argue that Longines may be on the right track once again, albeit with my take being based largely on two very recent releases, but the Zulu GMT and the 37mm Spirit seem to be meaningful, strong steps toward a rejuvenated, more compelling Longines than we've had in recent years.
Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't throw my name in the hat for "first pick for TGV's henchmen." I train in several Bond-favorite martial arts. I can earn my keep...in BLOOD!
Another Great video, super fun stuff man! Thanks as always
Loving the history TGV need to go and watch bond now 👍👍 please do something on Wittnauer and then on to them becoming longines would be very interesting 😀
Great as always mate 👍👍
Whoa....just saw this...LOVED the video! Thanks for all you do!
DAVID!!! What an absolute honor. Thank you so much my friend, I hope all its well
Best regards,
TGV
Thx TGV. Greetings to Hugo and all of you.
Great video TGV! You would have been a great villain in Jurassic Park.
BTW my favorite character played by Sean Bean was Andy McNab in Bravo Two Zero!
I’m surprised Bond has not worn a Gshock. He definitely needs an indestructible beater!
My Favorite Villian is Le Chiffre, but Christopher Waltz and Christopher Lee played their parts brilliantly. My favorite has to be Scaramanga's watch it is something different but yet beautiful. R.I.P Christopher Lee his movies have immortalized his brilliance.
I happened to have met George Lazenby in Los Angeles back in 2019, chance meeting. It was a pleasant conversation. I had told him my admiration for On her Majesty's secret service. I do have a love for Craig's bond, but Lazenby's romantic roll in his Bond surpassed the almost formulaic Bonds.
Excellent video. My daily wear is Seiko SKX007 which every component has been replaced multiple times over the years
Bonjour Monsieur Tristano, I am very pleased about this video.
Your efforts are much appreciated. Salut!
Thank you Jean! 😎🙏🥂

Thank you so much for the kind words, you made my day!

@@theurbangentry ah that's great. You are more than welcome 👍👍🙌😁
The Cartier Santos that's at 2 minutes and 45 seconds in the background it's freaking amazing the 2022 with a black bezel large is top 10 Grail watches for me
Tristano, well done bro, bravo! I always look forward to your unique approach to each video, you are an incredibly talented amazingly odd man indeed, to spend a day viewing the world through your eyes would make for a meticulous scary suspenseful historical 70’s style neo realist 4D viewing experience, sadly as that is in the making and Netflix negotiations continue we need to satisfy ourselves with these lovely slices ! Mille grazie, Dr Francesco ( graduate evil business school class of 2015)
Wait, oly-what - oleaginous? Ooof - thanks for expanding my repertoire 👏
I was shocked to see relatively young men sporting the “mansuer” or the facial dueling scars that have been banned for years. This was in the late 90’s but a friend had been allowed to witness a match and assured me the dueling clubs very much still exist.
This was in Graz Austria in 1998.
Whenever I’m wearing my Phoibos Wave Master I feel like a Bond villain minion 👀👍 Great video! PS - love the steal all the watches in the world-plot.
GREAT Video Idea @TGV ! Bond Villains have busy schedules and need a reliable watch!
Loved Sharpe !! What a series
The finest of "product placement": proceeds to pause and zoom into a highly pixilated still of a watch 🤣
Superb video-the always compelling alchemy of Bond, watches and culture/history/art, mixed with some appropriately dry humor-a perfect example of what sets TUG apart, in the best way. It’s clear that the Bond producers aim to capture a bit of the prevailing cultural zeitgeist of the time (sorry) in their choices of villain watches. That being the case, I think one company has a lock on equipping the next over-the-top, somewhat compelling yet off-putting
Great content again !
🎉
A cracking take on the bond villain horological attire TGV. I would say that although some years ago Longines could have been seen as being in the doldrums but in recent years they appear to have upped the brands game somewhat arguably stepping into where Omega sat some years ago. Many mechanical references run at the same 3.5 Hz as Omega sans the co-axial escapement and have ETA movements exclusively for the brand. I think the Sector dial would have been great to have been a villains watch in the Daniel Craig era as a Spector dial. A missed opportunity perhaps?
My daughter says she can totally see TGV as a Bond villain, saying, "We meet again, Mr. Bond!"
Fanatic work, loved this
Christopher Lee always brilliant.
What a fantastic video! 🌋
Super episode. Really interesting and fun too.
Tristano you should undoubtetly do a video of the piece that has become the talk of the day: the new 39mm Tudor ranger, this ties perfectly with sir Flemings relationship with the Rolex Explorer, ciao, paisan from your Italian american fan here in Miami
Thanks, learning lots.
You had me up until you said “the rather disappointing Operation Mincemeat” lol I loved the move. Thought it was well done and well acted. But to each his own!
Amazing video congrats!!
24:20 nice Die Hard 4 reference...
