Yeah, it think since the game actually tracks each of the capital ships it would be to much for Frontier to change the system so that capital ships can created or destroyed.
Fair point, just imagine the amount of accomplishment players would feel for destroying one though.. I feel like they could build so much more into the power play portion of the game. There is a lot more, I feel, that can be done there.

My two cents so far is that the capital ships defenses are geared to survive other capitals while the fighters go around and pick apart the enemies heatsink ejectors? in areas the other cap ship cannot reach. If you cannot eject your reactors heat as a cap ship you have two choices, stay and melt yourself to slag or run away to cool off somewhere safe.

Yeah the Imperials fighter escort got killed pretty quick so it had to defend on it's own. Looks like it's guns had been shot out too and it wasn't even firing back toward the end there
All gameplay aside, this is so amazingly cinematic. Perfect timing with the soundtrack cue, two enormous ships show up within seconds and that signature enormous noise plays while the choir kicks in. WOW! They really nailed what space warfare looks like. Props to the ED devs and hope they are able to move further and further in this direction as time goes on.
Let me tell you, seeing this shit in VR for the first time I actually shouted out "I'm so fucked" when flying through a Federation capital ship's docking area dodging fighters. It was amazing.
@@user-zq6yz5gf6d no headset controllers. its mouse and keyboard or flight stick. if you already have the headset, using a keyboard + a Logitech 3d pro stick is a very cheap option to have a great time. the 3d pro is only 40$ us. same price as the game.

Saves a LOT of time when trying to multitask in the middle of a shitstrom. I can't imagine playing ED without VR now.
This games sound design is in a league of its own. I really wish I could say the same about the rest of the game. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like, but I have a really hard time recommending it to anyone that doesn't have a very specific taste.
Despite what some people say, to have an all out war and fight in these conflict zones is an amazing experience. The music, the effects, all of that together is unmatched in the rest of the game.
They struggle to kill a Cobra ... What did they even equip these with ? I mean not like you have to engeneer your weapons, but at least use huge ones ! Those were what, small sizes ?
@911LookuptheLavonAffair You can in fact just hold down the trigger. The only weapons that force you to pull the trigger multiple times (afaik, I don't really use them) are railguns, and other weapons of the like that require a charge before they can fire.

Planets look very poor and spacestations are also a quickly slapped on solition...All the same, not really modwlled out, etc. There is a reason why you can run this thing at 4k 200fps, which btw. is the only good thing resulting in this.
You know what would be kind of f*cking awesome? If you could actually destroy a capital ship. After destroying all the thermal vents, explosions would cascade across the ship's surface, before a massive white and blue explosion would erupt from near the center of the ship, at which point it epicly explodes in a hail of shrapnel and light.
The fighter repeating "More than one enemy here Commander, tread carefully" just made me think of Leslie Nielson saying "I just wanted to say, we're all counting on you" over and over in Airplane.

I play this game since about 4 years now.. not always but " On and Off " ... and I never saw something like this here. it's such a HUGE game that I still learn something every single day. there is nothing that's not possible in elite. Crazy game and a shame that so many gamers are missing out on it. when I first started this game my first thought was " how can I get rid of it fast whiteout losing to much money " 😄, but after few hours in I fell in love whit it. since that I'm hooked 🤷♂️
Can't help but imagine what it'd be like if there was ever a Star Wars game that let you pilot through the intense space battles from the Clone Wars. Despite some of the hate episodes 2 & 3 got, those space battle scenes were crazy.
I think these two capitals should be in move. So you could not stop in one place and fire. That would be more interesting :) You should then use flight assist turned off. But this is still interesting, battle like from movie! I didn't know that in ED could be such quest.

I know these battles are a gameplay feature, but its still fucking wild that capital ships are duking it out CONSTANTLY. There's just a steady production of billion credit war machines. Even in an advanced state, humanity will still dedicate a staggering amount of resources to destroying itself

Personally, I do wish that after a retreat, you could trace the jump of the Capital ship and head after it in an attempt to destroy it for good. Moreover, give it a heavy economic shift as a result. Makes sense why they'd retreat. You can fix guns, you can replace heat sinks, but rebuilding an entire Capital Class vessel would be expensive. Who wants that risk?
@@mill2712 single jump is anywhere between 10 and 80 lightyears(80 being the absolute longest possible using reverse engineerd Guardian(the token super advanced precursor race in elite) FSD boosters, and engineerd (aka technicaly unstable but elite dangerous dosnt care about that) components as well as stripped to the bare minimum, with 320 ish lightyeras being the highes tpotential "boosted" jump(using a neutron star or "jumpium"(aka crafted resource) to boost your FSD beyond safety limits)) a Fleet carrier has a range of 500 as well as the gnosis and dredger(a fleet operations carrier and a Bulk cruiser megaship respectivly) having the same range.(later 2 cant be player owned)
Who only uses Pulse and Burst Lasers? I always try to balance thermal and kinetic weapons, thermal for shields, kinetic for hulls. Same principle applies for ground combat, hence why I always wear a Dominator suit into ground conflict zones.

@Homeless Man Go do core mining for a day, and you can buy any ship you want. It only takes a couple of hours to get an Anaconda.

First time it happened to me, I shat myself. Then got pulled in by the music and then I got exploded. All worth it.
Personally, I do wish that after a retreat, you could trace the jump of the Capital ship and head after it in an attempt to destroy it for good. Moreover, give it a heavy economic shift as a result. Makes sense why they'd retreat. You can fix guns, you can replace heat sinks, but rebuilding an entire Capital Class vessel would be expensive. Who wants that risk?
you do realize that capital ships have a 500 LY jumprange? tracing that back with your onboard computer would be neigh impossible

@@mill2712 single jump is anywhere between 10 and 80 lightyears(80 being the absolute longest possible using reverse engineerd Guardian(the token super advanced precursor race in elite) FSD boosters, and engineerd (aka technicaly unstable but elite dangerous dosnt care about that) components as well as stripped to the bare minimum, with 320 ish lightyeras being the highes tpotential "boosted" jump(using a neutron star or "jumpium"(aka crafted resource) to boost your FSD beyond safety limits))
a Fleet carrier has a range of 500 as well as the gnosis and dredger(a fleet operations carrier and a Bulk cruiser megaship respectivly) having the same range.(later 2 cant be player owned)

Are those shields you have prismatic? And are they biweaved?
Who only uses Pulse and Burst Lasers? I always try to balance thermal and kinetic weapons, thermal for shields, kinetic for hulls. Same principle applies for ground combat, hence why I always wear a Dominator suit into ground conflict zones.
