I love your sense of wonder at getting the carrier. Don't forget, we got carriers in Horizons but the interiors weren't added until Odyssey update 10 I think it was, around December 2021. It was just such a buzz disembarking on our carriers for the first time.
You should think about getting the guardian modules unlocked before the engineer grind. The guardian power plant, distributor and fsd booster are well worth the effort
I've unlocked many guardian modules, and I can honestly say that the "modshards" are the ones that make the whole ordeal actually seem worthwhile as far as the weapons go. The FSD booster and the guardian module reinforcements are wonderful too.
You definitely want the Guardian FSD Booster. That's essential. The Guardian Power Plant and Distributor are rubbish compared to fully engineered normal modules, however if you haven't unlocked all the engineering they can be a good stepping stone. You won't use them later, though. The only other Guardian module that is worthwhile is Guardian Hull Reinforcement. They're still not as good as a fully modded D grade Hull Reinfrocement engineered with Heavy Duty and Deep Plating, but the Guardian version provides caustic resistance, which can be helpful with Thargoids - particularly if you're doing the initial Maelstrom stuff and collecting materials in the caustic zone before getting a Caustic Sink. The downside of Guardian Hull Reinforcements (and Guardian modules in general) is they use power and run hot, which isn't good for cold builds. So if you want to hide from Thargoids or keep below 20% to help avoid their damage, you want to limit their use. The only other thing is that you should hunt down the pre-engineered Guardian weapons, rather than spend all your blueprints unlocking the normal ones. These are one time purchases, so each module requires a blueprint and other materials, rather than unlocking and then buying from outfitting with credits. There's a Medium Guardian Shard Cannon and a Medium Guardian Plasma Cannon. They generate a lot more heat but do more damage, however more importantly the shot speed is much higher (6,000m/s) so they're basically hit scan weapons and much easier to lead into your targets.
I'm new to this channel, and the implications of this comment made me horrified. Did this guy buy FC before the engineering and guardian modules grind?? How??

Great video, I liked your anticipation and reaction, priceless! I just recently got to the point of thinking about getting a carrier in ED. It's kind of funny because after a few years of playing you get a knack for predicting how AI will behave in PVE during engagements, this makes stacking and grinding $40,000,000 massacre missions go rather quickly. After a while all that grinding and playing the trading game starts to pay off and you no longer are thinking in terms of millions but billions as benchmarks. I'm currently at 10.2 Billion but from what I've seen and read I'm going to want to be sitting more around 15 Billion to be able to afford everything I want without having to worry about running costs. That extra 5 Billion allows me to buy commodities to trade in *MASSIVE* volumes which in turn pays for the carrier costs. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations - I got my carrier with 6 billion credits the remaining 1 bill should be more than enough to cater for rebuys, carrier fees etc. For trading, I usually find a good run park my carrier at a "buy" station and use my cutter (784 T cargo) doing short station > carrier > station hops to deposit goods in the carrier (usually to 10k tons worth) and then jump to the "sell" station and do short hops for the profits. I have 2,700 hours in this game, and I still don't have a fleet carrier. Most of my time has been spent exploring, and until very recently that wasn't a very lucrative job. I'm content at my average 3 billion credits. Thankfully I have a friend who owns one and he basically lets me do whatever I want with it, lmao. Like other people here have said, I strongly recommend you get some Guardian modules (at least the FSD booster and power plant) before doing engineering stuff. Especially now that you have a carrier, you can make the trip to the Guardian systems in just one or two jumps with it.
Love the enthusiasm. A little bit of free advice, you are far from done. If you want to take the carrier any significant distance, you are going to need lots of Tritium. Either mined or bought, either way, it is a lot of money or grind. Next, I wouldn't bother with a secure depot, or a ship vendor. Most people do not buy ships from carriers, and secure depots are for trading in illegal goods, most people don't bother. You can save some expense and some weekly upkeep by ditching them. If you are going exploring, it is handy having stellar cartographics on board, since you can sell your data without having to go anywhere, even from the current system. A redemption office is nice to have, but not necessary. It takes some of your bounty money, but also kicks back a percentage to the upkeep. Invaluable is the on foot outfitting. Rather than going all over the place looking for e-breaches, you can buy them from your carrier, along with all your other consumables so long as you turn that on.
"Either mined or bought, either way, it is a lot of money or grind." If you just bought a Fleet Carrier this should be factored in already. I'm always amused at some that think the 5-6 billion on purchase is the end goal when actually it's the very beginning. The grind never ends -- and if you got yourself rich enough to buy your very own mobile base, the responsibility maintaining that endeavor shouldn't be an issue at all. My carrier costs 30 million a week base -- which I can raise in blink of an eye -- When you get to this level, if you're going to be here -- money and or grind shouldn't be something worried about. As for tritium -- how much does one need onboard? Bubble to Colonia is under 5K tons, one way. You really don't want to fill it to the gills anyway as that takes space, and being heavy effects milage burn.
@@Tamburello_1994 I came up from Gamma, I did the robigo/sothis/ceos smuggling missions back in the day. I also did the early passenger missions where you could make millions in a few minutes. By my math I will need to top up the funds in my carrier account some time in October.... 2053. I have most of the services turned on, except the ones that make no sense. I mean technically the bar makes no sense, but I like having it. The idea that you can use the carrier to make money by selling stuff at a profit is absurd. Absent a few very specific use cases. Even then, there are still way better ways to make credits, if you need to. I don't need credits. I don't need anything really. I have everything except the thargoid bobblehead unlocked from the tech brokers. All the engineers except one unlocked and leveled as high as they go. I refuse to unlock the engineer that wants you to lower your rep with LYR, as I like LYR and their recipes are duplicative. I have been to Colonia, and unlocked all the engineers there(except the odyssey engineers since I haven't been back since odyssey dropped. On my to do list, but I hate the jump grind to get to colonia. It seems more tedious with a carrier, since the carrier will not autoplot the next jump, and there is that cooldown. With my jumpaconda, I can easily outrun the carrier.
@@Foxyloxy.X you might also have a look to see if the East India company is still operating. Makes buying the junk to unlock engineers easier. The other way that makes things easier, is by having a carrier. Many of the engineers require rares to unlock. Rares in quantities that you can't buy in one go. What you can do, is buy the maximum amount, land on your carrier, transfer all of the rares to the carrier from the transfer tab on the inventory panel, wait a few minutes and then go buy more until you have all the xihe companions and cigars and whatnot, then jump close to the engineer. Most of the time the engineer systems are full, but getting close is better than the unholy jump grind to some of these systems. I would 100% recommend unlocking and leveling farseer, if not first, pretty close. The extra jump range makes all the other engineers easier to deal with.
lol 14:34 the carrier layout was changed on arrival to the new layout, that's funny I didn't know it would do that while you're on the carrier. It's a bit unfortunate the Nautilus layout has the control tower on the front though, without any windows towards the landing deck. It's kinda why I ended up choosing the Fortune layout with the control tower that's off-centre to the left, can do tower fly-by on landing approach and has a nice view of the deck. (The Victory layout has a massive pillar on the front which kinda blocks the view as well). By the way, every carrier layout has its own jump horn sound (there's an audio clip if you google "All Fleet Carrier Horns") and everyone near the carrier can hear it when it starts the jump.
I have an offer for you. I'll be jumping to Beagle Point next month (4th of September earliest) with my carrier. It's on the other side of the galaxy. We pass through the core, so you can see Sagittarius A* if you wanna tag along

The reason why your Fleet Carrier changed design after dropping out of hyperspace is because the game can only load the appropriate assets once the Fleet Carrier enters a new system.
I never thought I would want a Carrier... but with the thick bank I'm making with exobio, I mean.... what else do I spend the money on? One system I just found with 45 bio sigs should net around 500-600 million alone. Would be nice to have a base of operations for exploration.
Congrats on your space garage! 😁 Hilarious to see your carrier completely change shape and color when jumping. Probably because you did all the livery while on board, but I'm there's a funnier lore explanation!
If you're an explorer collecting exobiology and having a Vista genomics on board your fleet carry it will make tons of money. But if you think you're going to travel across the galaxy faster, think again. I can get across the galaxy three times as fast in my Aspx. So once I got back from the void I decommissioned my carrier. If I plan to go back out I'll probably repurchase. They're good to refuel, repair, limpets etc . But the jump range is too short and having to mind tritium for that pathetically small fuel tank. It's just not really worth it.
Woohoo - Foxy's got his Carrier! Way to go bud', I've been playing a long time and still haven't got one (it'll happen...). Hopefully I'll find the Bunny Bus out in the Black sometime, land and we can have a few beers...
Congrats on getting the carrier, keep an eye on the upkeep amount, it's pretty easy to cover but shipyard and outfitting are usually unnecessary expenses unless you want to sell ships and modules to other people, not sure how successful you will be going that route though.
My brother got to 6 billion first but I had 4 to donate threw trade... We're fitted for exobiology but have the shipyard anyway... With 2 of us there is never a shortage of cash... Bounce around the black scanning little clusters and banking exo on the move...
Regarding saving money on you for rebuys, if you don't have enough on you but you have a carrier, the rebuy screen allows you to cover the costs via the carrier (either paying directly from it, or withdrawing from the carrier, not sure). I didn't knew, but someone tested on the forums and posted screenshots of the UI. Congrats on the carrier o7
I really like your vibe. How's the carrier treating you after a year+? I'm very, VERY close to affording one myself now. I'm expecting to have one within the week!
Shipyard and Outfitting is for the other players to bring their fleet in your carrier and outfitting allows you to buy ship and module packs that other players can buy from your carrier, this is a money think at the beginning and in my opinion is not worth it. Remove this 2 services to get money back and install services like Universal Cartographics to cash out exploration data. Install Vista Genomics to be able to sell exobiology data when you are away from humanity. Before departing for exploration you should try some mining. You will have to buy carrier fuel (tritium) from stations or mine it from ice rings.
I guess hangar 13 is where all the alien bunnies are kept? Congrats on the purchase. I never bothered with carriers, because I only play casually, they sound like too much work. Engineering is what killed it for me, too much grind, too OP, too many hours on end blasting crystals, not enough pew pew and fun.
9:12 you don't actually have to install shipyard and outfitting services, because it's available to the owner no matter is it installed or not. So yeah, uninstall them, as they only increase the upkeep cost

I'm always amused at some that think the 5-6 billion on purchase is the end goal when actually it's the very beginning. The grind never ends -- and if you got yourself rich enough to buy your very own mobile base, the responsibility maintaining that endeavor shouldn't be an issue at all. My carrier costs 30 million a week base -- which I can raise in blink of an eye --
When you get to this level, if you're going to be here -- money and or grind shouldn't be something worried about.
As for tritium -- how much does one need onboard? Bubble to Colonia is under 5K tons, one way. You really don't want to fill it to the gills anyway as that takes space, and being heavy effects milage burn.
These carrier management advices are essential, thank you cmdr, I now know better which server to uninstall and which ones to keep. o7
Thanks for these wonderful tips
Bought one at the same time as you! This is so cool :) Making good credits participating in Community Goal right now.
Fantastic! I am doing the same, making good on our huge investment
lol 14:34 the carrier layout was changed on arrival to the new layout, that's funny I didn't know it would do that while you're on the carrier.
Yeah that is also the reason that I changed from the Nautilus to Victory, I prefer you can see your landing pads.
I have an offer for you. I'll be jumping to Beagle Point next month (4th of September earliest) with my carrier. It's on the other side of the galaxy. We pass through the core, so you can see Sagittarius A* if you wanna tag along
Your gunna need a lot of tritium.
@@timmurphy1250 28.4k with all services to and from Beagle Point via Great Annihilator. 3 billion credits total costs +- upkeep (Great Annihilator has trit at 150k average). Carrier can only take 18.3k trit at the time
@@timmurphy1250 *You're
Thx cmdr, I really appreciate the offer, but I will have to say no, because I want to keep on my journey step by step and try to discover things on my own. But really appreciated! o7 cmdr

I stopped playing the game before carriers came out and I have never seen any of this. It's pretty cool!
It's great moving all your fleet and modules 500 ly at a time
There's a gold rush CG on at the moment where thousands of cmdrs are earning billions.
Gold rush? Should I head back to the bubble or something to make the big bucks? I'm 10k light years out now exploring.@@Sighman
Sincere congratulations!)) I will never forget how I bought, equipped and stepped aboard my carrier. And I wish you the same)
Thank you very much! This is indeed unforgettable experience!
The reason why your Fleet Carrier changed design after dropping out of hyperspace is because the game can only load the appropriate assets once the Fleet Carrier enters a new system.
9:17 secure werehouse is bassically substitute to the station's Black market. You don't need it, your normal market will be enough
I see, thx!
Congrats CMDR I enjoy seeing a new player discover ED. I've been playing since 2014. o7
Thank you CMDR
I never thought I would want a Carrier... but with the thick bank I'm making with exobio, I mean.... what else do I spend the money on? One system I just found with 45 bio sigs should net around 500-600 million alone. Would be nice to have a base of operations for exploration.
I do like the carrier jumps - great sound and video
With a station entry like that,a re you sure you want to be at the wheel of a carrier?
Congrats on your space garage! 😁 Hilarious to see your carrier completely change shape and color when jumping. Probably because you did all the livery while on board, but I'm there's a funnier lore explanation!
nah, cosmetics have always been kinda broken when jumping
im so glad you like Elite! would you like a wing man? lol congrats on your fleet carrier bud its worth it =)
Thanks cmdr!
It's just not really worth it.
lol as soon as i saw the fc name i realized u gave me a ride to HIP 36001 on ur fc thru squad. Good times!
Woohoo - Foxy's got his Carrier! Way to go bud', I've been playing a long time and still haven't got one (it'll happen...). Hopefully I'll find the Bunny Bus out in the Black sometime, land and we can have a few beers...
You are always welcome there cmdr.
Congrats on getting the carrier, keep an eye on the upkeep amount, it's pretty easy to cover but shipyard and outfitting are usually unnecessary expenses unless you want to sell ships and modules to other people, not sure how successful you will be going that route though.
Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for this little tips, hopefully I don't come to that, but if so, it is good to know
I really like your vibe.
Shipyard is great if you're playing with other people though
Thanks for these useful carrier tips cmdr
I guess hangar 13 is where all the alien bunnies are kept? Congrats on the purchase. I never bothered with carriers, because I only play casually, they sound like too much work. Engineering is what killed it for me, too much grind, too OP, too many hours on end blasting crystals, not enough pew pew and fun.
Love the jump cuts at 1:35
Thx!
Congratulations, you must be very pleased.
Very!
I assume you bought and applied paintjob and outerlayer, but it got updated only when you jumped with your FC.
Yep, eventually figured it out.
9:12 you don't actually have to install shipyard and outfitting services, because it's available to the owner no matter is it installed or not. So yeah, uninstall them, as they only increase the upkeep cost
So "F" your friends, right? No facilities for anyone coming for visit, or business. Nice.
I can see the SY being omitted if you're not into squatters. OF is an absolute must if you intend on having guests.
@@Tamburello_1994no, what i mean is that just for him shipyard is useless, especially that he doesn't really have enough money for upkeep
@@NietoKT Now -- but he plays seemingly 24-7 so money shouldn't be an issue. That, and he mentioned in the video he wanted everyone to land on his carrier.
Yep figured that out, and already took down the shipyard but still keeping the outfitting for myself. Thx cmdr!
I like the Nautilus design. NO towers or gantries on the flight deck!
This makes me wanna play elite dangerous again.
3:45 pretty cool, huh? Now imagine going on there with three times the normal speed.
Yes, that's exactly what a stunt pilot does. And it's fun as hell, even if you can't fly.
Great editing through all the jumps, although I miss the washing machine spin cycle noises.
Bunny Bus. Yep, that was a great name I had for that thing.
I love that name. And thank you for helping me naming my carrier :)
Glad you got it but like others have said you dont need ship yard or outfitting it will get you some money back if you get rid of them and bring Weekley cost down by a lot
Great advice thx!
"ah, i passed it" as he zipps by at mach warp.
I want one, but I'd never play enough to have the credits to maintain it.
1:50 That is how you know that this station has a carrier vendor
1:55 Not played elite dangerous, but glad the ridiculous starport landing is still in from the original game 😂 You would of thought autopilot would come as standard or a tractor beam from the station, just to reduce damage and potential for catastrophic collateral damage in the hanger.
Colonia awaits you
Check out exploration and exobiology. They’re insanely lucrative.
Will do cmdr
Where are you doing this bounty hunting to get the money? Could you possibly make a video on that seems very profitable
Amazing video foxy, I don’t have any tips to give you, I hope you enjoy your brand new drake or nautilus carrier? idk what happened at the end? Never seen that before. I’ll pay your carrier a visit when I get around to it, have fun and fly dangerously o7
He updated livery but it only changes when you relog or jump.
Thank you cmdr! I would be honored by your visit
watch out for weekly charges but have fun. 07
Wow - FDev could make buying an FC much more intuitive. And yes, it would make sense to contact the Shipyard outside, or have the booth have the contact option too.
Enjoy your mobile base. o7
You can now jump to the Guardian sites. And do some exploration or unlock Guardian tech.
That is something I must do very soon
Great landing 😂
Thank you!
Lmfao the boost into the slot. The amount of times ive accidentally done that. I might have to reinstall this
that landing was some x levels of parking lmfao
You are going to need more funds for that money pit. :D I have 11.1 billion in its bank, that's 6 years worth of 34,860,814 a week maintenance and I still don't feel covered. :D
Nice achivement. Tip: equipt cargobay and a limpet collektor on your battleship, and collekt al the materials your enemy drop, you will need them later(enginering). bigger ships = better drops. just remeber there is a timer on those materials, so they will vanish after some time. and remeber your limpets have a max range. 07 cmdr.
Thanks for the tips!
Re the colour changes at the end, it doesn't apply livery changes until you reinstance.
I thought it was a bit odd that the ship had the wrong foghorn for a Drake class...
I figured as much, not like ships that the livery applies right away. Good to know
Just in time for community event
This was all I knew before SC. Have you seen Sagittarius A?
No I have not
@@Foxyloxy.X The stars on the map around there are so incredibly dense and beautiful. The center itself. You gotta go.
Wow, thats alotta money. how did you do that? i wish i knew more about the game and how to get money
Before you frustrate yourself go through the options you have systematically. That's a general advice i can give for this game :D
Can you share your conda build?
Im making bookoo bucks selling Odyssey mats at 10000% markup around Colonia. 2Bn cred in a week selling garbage.
color thats all that changed? it changed to a completely different carrier
1:58 That landing, tho'... 😂
lol...

I refuse to believe that you have done it by doing missions, they give a pittance
