      @HummingbirdSound 4 месяца назад +2

      Not 30, but probably 10, because of the algorithm - shorts and 10 min videos have more chance to be seen and to be put forward, for some reason, this is why most people either make shorts or 10 min videos.

    I was on my way to Lagoon Nebula while i discovered about 5 of those systems. only one carries my nickname.
    When i checked after VSS it said discovered by someone else.
    So its only discovered once you brought it back.

    Been playing since almost the beginning and I noticed this years ago. Also you will find many systems with only the star scanned because the original ships only scanned the star and you had to fly to the planets to scan them. So if you find one with only the star showing, check. The planets may still be waiting to be discovered.

    I remember stumbling into an undiscovered system a couple of years ago while flying my old pre-nerf jumpconda. I was just a tourist heading back from the Eagle Nebula, had no idea how to use the FSS, and ended up manually searching for the planets by flying around and looking to see which of the "stars" around me were moving when I moved. Took about three hours but it was worth it to see my name on the Galactic Map.
    Felt like an utter moron when I got back to Pleiades and was told I could have mapped it all in about 20 mins if I'd just pressed the correct button

    You can also find semi-discovered systems like this. When you honk, if the message says something like "Bodies: 23" but you only see 3 in the panel/system map, the rest haven't been discovered.

    • @RustedCrown11

  • @shadowmystery5613
    @shadowmystery5613 4 месяца назад +2

    That's not entirely true, if a system has already been visited you can see that on the main star you've been to.
    On the other stuff I have to agree though, if you only see a star but don't get the voice message "System Scan Complete" the other bodies just haven't been FSS'd yet.
    I got into a lot of already discovered systems that just weren't scanned yet on my fast 5'000 Lightyears excursion to unlock Thruster Engineers.

    Is this game worth getting into right now? Are there many random events while playing or is it mostly go from point A to B without interruption? I enjoy random encounters or seeing NPC traffic do things like trade, fight, etc with some meaning (not just random, but with a purpose, like faction vs faction, pirating, or whatever).
    I've also got a VR headset...considering using it to play, but not really sure if I should even try getting into Elite dangerous or not at this point.

      @@slandshark Yes you can coop. There is 2 ways to do coop, you can either multicrew and have your friend join you on your ship (provided your ship has extra crew slots to fit them) and do missions together on one ship. The other way is to form a wing by inviting your friend into one. This way you can bring 2 ships instead of one.

    The other giveaway will be in the FSS Scanner. As soon as you identify the planet, the bottom of the screen will show the name of the first explorer who discovered it. Your name will be on the planet if you sell the data before anyone else does. You also get your name on it if you were the first to map it with the detailed surface scanner, which is easier to do since many explorers skip the icy or rocky moons.

    If any of the bodies are in the narrow field of view of your automatic scanner (the one that reveals the star), you'll see them appear too. Usually no more then 1 or 2 as the odds are pretty slim that more than that will be directly in front of you.

    What is the purpose and or difference when simply "HONKING" a system vs assuming there is one, scanning the NAV beacon.

    • @larrydlam
      @larrydlam 4 месяца назад +3

      The nav beacon will give you station locations and other info that you won't get from just honking.

    • @CountArtha
      @CountArtha 4 месяца назад

      Scanning the nav beacon identifies all the signal sources for you, which is helpful when you have an assassination mission target or you're looking for high grade emissions.

      Once you get outside the bubble (and the route to Colonia), there aren't any NAV beacons. (nor are there stations or emissions signals on account of there being no activity...you know, cos it's undiscovered)
