This comment is two years old, but lemme just tell you he's wrong. Yeah, there's only about a dozen styles of space station and half as many ground bases, but let's look at the competition: No Man's Sky has 3 shapes and they're all identical inside. So uh... Elite Dangerous wins by a mile.
Oh, and the new DLC coming includes the ability to walk around on foot inside your ship, stations, and on planetary surfaces, and will include gunplay. Imagine a better Mass Effect with actual space flight. Plus you can own your own supercruiser carrier class ship that functions as a mobile space station.
The only update I'm waiting for is Fleets, so I can command multiple carriers at once from my flagship. They already have AI fighter pilots you can command to act as your wing and AI crew you can hire to man the turrets and other stations on your ship.

The overheat started in normal space. When he failed to line up the vector and got the throttle confused, he should have just turned off the FSD, fixed everything and started again. He would have entered SC with much less heat on the ship and managed to escape with much less damage. Because of his proximity to the black hole, he was always going to take heat damage, compounded by the fact he took forever to enter SC :)
No HS ammo was a big issue there too! ;)

    • @YuriPustovoit

I think the fact you had "The Center" selected in the Nav panel made things much worse. ED supercruise mechanics is designed to slow the ship down in the vicinity of selected Nav point. That's why your departure took forever, adding to the time the ship had been under heat stress.

Always, always align towards the escape vector and fully throttle up before charging the FSD. Charging the FSD is what’ll start to cook you; being aligned and at top speed means you’ll go back to supercruise the instant it’s charged, minimizing the time spent at those heat levels. Also, before going on a long expedition, make sure you’ve stocked up on engineering materials to synthesize heatsinks and AFMU refills so you don’t run out, the latter especially if you intend to use neutron jumps since each one eats away at your FSD a little.
Finally, when your destination is grayed out and enclosed in a dotted circle, it means there’s something between you and what you’re trying to get to, in this case the event horizon. I’m surprised you got all the way to Sag A* without picking up on that, glad you were able to survive.

A quick tip for someone dangerously close to a star who needs to escape and has no heat sinks to deploy:
Turn on your FSD for a moment to line up with the escape vector, then turn it off to cool down, then throttle up, dump power into systems, and turn it on again. It gets you the most time to escape before your heat levels get critical.

Just remember, DON'T PANIC ,you have AT LEAST 7:30 worth of oxygen to get to a place to repair. Also module reinforcements don't help the canopy. It suffers damage through heat or by being shot directly, it is the only exposed module on any ship and has no way of being improved.

@@Maxgamer-fd7hv Dude, its a video game with fast space travel and respawn. What did you expected me to do the first time I encountered a black hole. In my opinion, any game devs that don't allow to do that under the rules I just mentionned has a serious lack of imagination.

@@Maxgamer-fd7hv But that's my point, science-fiction gives us a tool to assume the impossible. Its as if you're saying that you're okay for the game to have FTL and giant space aliens but if the devs dared to try to do something about black holes, that's unnacceptable.

well no wonder, you're running a combat build for exploration and taking all pips away from systems, which would've helped you cool off faster

You can cancel supercruise charge. It help when you mess some stuff. Just do a second try.

If you would have boosted the second you got lined up with the escape vector you would have entered supercruise while still at only 100 temp instead of just sitting around waiting for it to engage on it's own from simply being throttled up. I have never seen a ship jump until at least 180mps and being in full throttle takes a while to get there and then the fsd takes it sweet time initiating. If you just throw the throttle forward all the way then boost you will hit that speed mark in just a couple seconds and it will cause the fsd to initiate almost instantly upon reaching the 180mps speed.
