I love this rendition Everyone now look away from and grin when I don't have my two little front teeth in I don't sport a Holly😂 wood set of gnashers but sure cheer people up ! Night night and sleep well
I did not grow up in the South, but in NYC .. some of us ..have differen songs . ...this one starts ..oh I wish I were in the land of cotten ...old times there are not forgotten .look away look away look away Dixieland . I dont yearn for that scene .. But it's sure a goegeous tune.
.. well,,, The words of Dixie yearn for the old south ... For this reason .. although it's a beautiful song note for note ,,,, I would have some trouble with it . But like I said, I do not question Bob Dylan's choices ...
I did, however , post this song , as it was one of the songs played during the the Ken Burns ' documentary of the Civil War ,,, when played out with violins and piano ... It sure is a beauty ,,, oh well ..
In fact ... They're not sitting down like a regular audience .. they look like they're ... More in a play or something .. So maybe they ARE there looking dubious .. and Bob Dylan is aware that they're there to show a different face during Dixie ... I don't know ...
@@Dylan-only-vocalswhat was the context in the movie. Saw it many years ago and don’t remember much. As a stand alone, all I have to say is “Huh?” When I think of Dylan in relation towards the south, I think of he and Pete Seeger going down to Greenwood (63?), Medgar Evers and only a pawn, Hezekieh Jones, march for jobs and freedom, etc. We all know Bob doesn’t shy away from (even courts, at time) controversy, But Surely some other song could have been better used. Guess I have to subject my self to M A again. Nevertheless I remain baffled.
. Don't get me wrong,,, Bob Dylan's of Dixie is the best ... But, we, of the blue states, may feel awkward singing praises to the old South . But I don't question his motives , for me , he has a full pass to sing .. even what I think maybe questionable material . He has his reasons for doing whatever he does ..
I was born in the heart of Dixie. This is outstanding Sir Bob Dylan.❤
I grew up singing this in the car with my PA, . I sang it yesterday to the boys
