I'm on Bob Dylan's album this one and many more since I was like 19 years old or 18 years old and I'll tell you what I still listen to these songs and sing to them all the time it's makes me happy
"Some are born great, Some achieve greatness, And some have greatness thrust upon them". William Shakespeare. Absolutely no doubt as to which category Bob belongs to.
Staying up for days in the Chelsea Hotel Writing " Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" for you One of America's greatest poets.....living or dead I love this song so much. If this had been Dylan's only song he would still be a legend.
I agree. It's as though Bob's letting us into his world - "that song I wrote, that everyone loves and this is another one". I love the way it starts with him and his kids on a beach, full of life and fun and the laughter of kids, a real family setting. And then how it ends up on the same beach but now empty and devoid of all past happy domestic scene and just replaced by an old shipwreck and kelp. Just so much imagery,. Such an evocative song. Sad and possibly angry and perhaps a little confused - he asks "why did you change?". So so relatable.
never heard of "It makes no difference", but the other two you mentioned were classics, always loved them, but to me they do not top Sara, it was true and he lost her anyway, due to infidelity.
Yes, but note the minor key, they wailing harmonica and the pleadng for her not to go, which of course we all know she did about 1-1/2 years after this masterpiece was recorded. she couldn't stand his philandering, certainly understandable, and she took him for half of his considerable wealth. many of Dylan's songs, indeed, whole albums, are "sad." Time out of Mind for example, and many others. It is a very sad yet gorgeous song. thanks for commenting Elizabeth. Ihave a daughter with that name, only with an s instead of a z.
We named our daughter after this song 35 years ago.....Our Sara was as beautifull as in your song. I pray and say: please don't ever leave me, dodon'tever go....❤❤✨🎇🎇❤❤...
i loved this song for years, years later i had a baby daughter who i named sara, her mom took her away from me, since then , when i listen to this song i tear up like a baby. what life !!!!!
True. Actualy his songs are full of references to JAH, the daughter of Zion and the devil. Not this one although Sara is herself of course also a daughter of Zion.😏 But he definitely is a priest from The Most High.
My first love from 40 years ago got in touch and we were talking for a while... Not in touch now. I had never heard this song but he said it reminded him of us and what could have been. It breaks my heart every time I hear it,
Perhaps the greatest compliment my son ever gave me was a simple thanks for turning him onto the music of Bob Dylan. After all the years of being the one trying to point him in the right direction to finally realize he was paying attention to his old man after all truly moved me.
Dylan was peerless from 1962 until 1976. He has recorded some of the greatest albums of all time: The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, The Times they are A-Changin', Bringing it all Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding, Blood on the Tracks and Desire were all written in that period. If any other artist had recorded just one of these he/she would be regarded as a colossus but Dylan recorded them all. Even after, since his late career resurgence, we have had Time Out of Mind, Modern Times, Love and Theft and Rough and Rowdy ways. And that's not even counting during the course of his career bootlegs such as the Basement Tapes and studio outtakes such as the sublime Blind Willie McTell, Foot of Pride and Groom Still Waiting at the Altar, his stuff with The Traveling Wilbury's nor the numerous songs that he gave to others, such as Walls of Redwing, Si Tu Dois Partir and so on. He is finishing his career right where he started it - at the very top.

I can still hear the sounds of those Methodist bells,
I'd taken the cure and had just gotten through,
Stayin' up for days in the Chelsea Hotel,
Writin' "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" for you.
Sara, Sara,
Wherever we travel we're never apart.
Sara, oh Sara,
Beautiful lady, so dear to my heart.
How did I meet you? I don't know.
A messenger sent me in a tropical storm.
You were there in the winter, moonlight on the snow
And on Lily Pond Lane when the weather was warm.
Sara, oh Sara,
Scorpio Sphinx in a calico dress,
Sara, Sara,
You must forgive me my unworthiness.
Now the beach is deserted except for some kelp
And a piece of an old ship that lies on the shore.
You always responded when I needed your help,
You gimme a map and a key to your door.
Sara, oh Sara,
Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow,
Sara, oh Sara,
Don't ever leave me, don't ever go.
ευχαριστουμε να σαι καλα
Tnx
@foxy e i Piccoli Colpi di Genio, no! You‘re wrong! There is no ”just” in that lyric
@foxy blablabla I did listen carefully… I didn’t google!!! Obviously English is not your first language because the lyric is clearly ”a messenger sent me” not ”a message just sent me” you dick
Plus if you were more familiar with bob’s style of writing… You would know that he doesn’t use little bridging words like that, wastefully. He is simply sustaining, as in dragging out the word mes, sen,,ger
This is one of the most beautiful songs in the world, it goes straight to the deepest of my core.
I hear you
Yes
Writing Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands for you. I always start crying.
This song hits different when you can relate to that one really special person deep in your heart that you once had and no longer have
At 58 it's the first time I'm hearing this song... after wanting to know more about this musical genius I search the internet..
I get it now as many before me...and he doesn't want our adoration... But we can't help it..
My heart is squeezing my eyes fill with tears... About my loves lost...
There will only ever be one man like this.. 🙏 lucky are those who's been a part of his life 💛
10 months later I am doing the same thing. I am 58 and my girlfriend of 10 years forced me to pick between her and my son. I am tearing up because what we had was awesome. But there is no love like your own.
I'm on Bob Dylan's album this one and many more since I was like 19 years old or 18 years old and I'll tell you what I still listen to these songs and sing to them all the time it's makes me happy
I fell in love with Bob Dylan's music at 8. After that my dad would play me this song all the time (my name is Sarah) ❤️
Good, you are also mystical and radiant
haha..❣️
Absolutely Brilliant
cool
My mom and dad had the Desire album in the 1970s ..loved it since then...my goodness Sara makes me shiver xxx
This song paints a picture like no others.
"Some are born great,
Some achieve greatness,
And some have greatness thrust upon them". William Shakespeare.
Absolutely no doubt as to which category Bob belongs to.
Dylan has no equal. Bob’s the shit
@@johnnylongaphy5437 : non-comprehendo
Well i guess all three, obviously
Staying up for days in the Chelsea Hotel
Writing " Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" for you
One of America's greatest poets.....living or dead
I love this song so much. If this had been Dylan's only song he would still be a legend.
The best love song ever written.
Breaks my heart this song. I've heard it hundreds of times. But it still breaks my heart. Bob's always better than I thought.
Me too 4:45
The most romantic song ive ever heard. Beautiful lyrics
The Irving Berlin of pop.
Sara, if you're still live, thanks for giving meaning to Bob's yearning heart. Sweet.
Sara Dylan is still alive
Started listening to Dylan in high school in the mid '70s.....still listening!
Without a doubt .... one of my favorite songs by Dylan. Very nostalgic, and a little haunting for me now.🎵🎶
Bob's music is like being in a huge gold mine and finding new amazing nuggets of inspiration with every visit.
This song can’t be playing without an handkerchief near by.
The pleading and the pain in his voice give me chills whenever I listen to this.
We. All. Are. Bob. Dylan. Fans. And. I am. One. Of. Them. And. Will. Always. Be
Sara one of the most beautiful woman God has allowed to come onto earth
This song saved me from a deep pit of self loathing that would’ve undoubtedly ended with my death. Thanks bob
glad that you are here Margot !
joetocayo names actually Sara that’s why this song means so much to me :) makes me feel like someone out there loves me
Same
Hey I hope you’re still doing well wherever in the world you are my dear
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
Off the Charts lyrics. Dylan.... just perfection.....my favorite song from 1976's "Desire"
Bob recorded this song gazing at Sara through the glass of the recording booth. What an experience - there are no words.
Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow.... Magical. Just magical...
My most favorite song. Bangladesh Asia ❤
This was my daddy favourite song I'm named after it 😊
I like when a song talks about another song. ("Writing sad eyed lady of the low lands for you") I don't know why.
I know right!
So so relatable.
perhaps the most beautiful and sad song ever recorded.
Don't forget "It makes no difference", "You're a big girl now" and "Dirge"?
never heard of "It makes no difference", but the other two you mentioned were classics, always loved them, but to me they do not top Sara, it was true and he lost her anyway, due to infidelity.
Sad? It's a tribute to wife
For his wife
It's been over ten years since someone has been in love with me. This song breaks my heart. It makes me remember what it is like to be loved.
Hang in there Tracey, love pops up when you least expect it.
Tracey I am sure you deserve to be loved, don't lose hope.
I love you
@Tacey Rosolowski try thirteen years , six months , three days , seven hours , 43 minutes and 46 seconds !
didn't do right by her .. how in the world was she supposed to feel special when bringing other women around... .. one deserved broke heart. ..
This is Genius!!!
Time is a jet plane it moves too fast.
I'm here in 2021!
I discovered this today. I'm in love with this. This should have been 10 minutes... Simply beautiful ❤🎶
this is so special,-- somewhere between a dirge & a love song, it's just lingering,-- like a flickering star hanging in a still night sky
Beautiful description
We named our daughter after this song 35 years ago.....Our Sara was as beautifull as in your song. I pray and say: please don't ever leave me, dodon'tever go....❤❤✨🎇🎇❤❤...
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here

This song cuts me to the quick! And breaks my heart.
One of the most beautiful and agonizing love songs ever penned.
Heart Robbie Z!
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you!! 😊
I feel you really do
Just like the Bible, you can understand Dylan only if you are listening with your heart!
It breaks my heart every time I hear it,
Damn
Most heartfelt song Bob ever wrote. Still makes me cry. All been there.
My ex wife was sarah , this song can’t be played too often
Brings me to tears , absolutely beautiful love song
One of the best Dylan..
The best love song ever written
i don't know how to describe how i love this song, my father used to listen and i remember him as well. Goodbye my father, fly wherever you are.
this song reminds me of my mother..she loved this album and used to play it on a sunday when she did the ironing..she died nearly 20 years ago
For the love of my life...
You are your dad always love for bob Dylan live long live well?
Perhaps the greatest compliment my son ever gave me was a simple thanks for turning him onto the music of Bob Dylan. After all the years of being the one trying to point him in the right direction to finally realize he was paying attention to his old man after all truly moved me.
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
In memory of a wonderful lady and friend who died some years ago but never forgotten ....
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you! 😊
Lovin you is the one thing I will never regret
Absolute masterpiece. I am used to dedicate this immortal song to my daughter: Sarah.
Unquestionably the greatest songwriter ever
Definatly a philosopher of the music times x a one off 💘
Unquestionably the greatest songwriter ever. This I unconditionally agree with.
I first learned about Bob Dylan from my father in 1992. I was 6 and he's forever held a place in my heart.
BOB DYLAN UNO DEI MIGLIORI
There will never be another Dylan.
That's like saying there will never be another Beethoven, Bach or Mozart. There couldn't be because these artists stood so far above everyone else.
Thank you Dylan a thousand times for each song of you. Blessed you be!
YES, I love him. A fantastic poet.
Helloo!! I covered this song in my channel and I really hope you like it!! See you!! 😊
This song reminds me my old brother who passed away since 34 years ago he covered this song with harmonica same as Bob Dylan
Love this beautiful tribute to Sara. A very timeless thing to do for the person you love. The words are beyond wonderful.
I live in NJ.
