Finally someone playing a Musician in a film that can handle the music. The music is very, very close to the original and helps complete the story and character - where the actual music often fails in other Bios.
I’m sure there will be “Dylan snobs” who will protest the commercialization of Bob’ story. ( As a Blues fan I see it all the time when new blues artists emerge.). But this is a great story - how else to tell it to those who did not experience it? As a 73 yo I was fortunate to grow up with Bob’s music but many were not so lucky.
I'm not even a huge Dylan fan (though he wrote quite a few really good songs). But his story - the Ballad of Bobby and Joan - is one of the great stories of Americana and American music.
the way to tell it is in documentary footage and interviews from people who were there. not a fake dramatization in a nice neat hollywood package that doesnt reflect real life in any way
It feels like pop culture only remembers him through bad impressions and hack jokes. I’m glad he’s getting the biopic treatment so younger people can hopefully rediscover him and appreciate him for bringing some of the most beautiful music into the world.
I was 15 when Dylan dropped his first album. He was part of my High School and college years. Although he detested the title , we felt he sang for all of us.
Bob Dylan was and still is a visionary. He wrote some of the most important songs of the Civil Rights and anti-war movements. After revisiting Rough and Rowdy Ways today, I see it as a warning for current times. That shouldn't be surprising, though. He never stopped telling us what was happening.

I have been listening to dylan since I was 16. I'm 18 now. For the last two years I was the 0.1% top listener of his' on Spotify. He's my most listened to musician. He makes me sob and weep. Especially his song - the mother of muses. I try to study his music but the cultural nuances are pretty hard to grasp because of difference in the era. So sometimes need some historical references to make sense outta song. But the more I understand the more deeply I fall in love with this man. His lyrics are prolific and unparalleled. And to be fairly honest, after listening to his songs even the best of our generation or at least the most popular ones seems as pale as the brits' cooking. Haha.

I haven’t seen enough of Chalamet’s work to make a judgement call but there are a lot of people who disagree with you. I have read rave reviews about his performances in his films, and in this film in particular.
He looks like one of the best portrayals of a Musician in a Bio in a long time. Sounds very much like him. Looks very much like him and the music ISN"T over-dubbed. "I'm Not There' didn't even have him playing any of his music in it. I'm a musician and cover his songs often. The Kid is doing a great job. He even does a good job of nailing the idiosyncratic, 'unique' sound of Dylan messily turning his 'Folk' songs into 'Rock' songs with the Band.
WOW Timothee!! I'm feeling Academy award Oscar buzz 🏆💯🤩
He should be getting Oscar buzz for "Dune Part Two" if anything.

Have you seen Love and Mercy? That is still my favourite film bio about a modern musician.
@@donna25871it’s good & sad at the same time but it’s a cradle to grave Bio this is just a 5 yrs I think 1960-1965 Dylan
He is one of the great actors in this generation
Bob Dylan has been a man of his time. Still is. More than ever,
💜
I wonder if, long after I am dead, there will be a movie about Timothee Chalamet getting his start in film? 😊
Seems to be very truthful to what Bob Dylan was during these years ❤❤!!

Yeah. Exactly, remember the best, forget the rest.

The Dylan snobs said that in 1965.

BD is a genius. More than a great songwriter. He is a great poet. The greatest poet of all the time. Again, he is a genius.

Very exciting ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was very sceptical but this looks very good 🎉
boyd holbrook is cute !
Jesus Christ 🙏... I can't freaking wait 😺
If this movie brings attention to Bob Dylan, that's great. I bet 1% of teens have even heard his name.
Perhaps I'm from that 1%, and I know a lot about him, have explored his music, but I still can't understand him and haven't become a fan of his

Is Sylvie supposed to be Suze Rotolo?..
That was my question too
Aquele suporte de harmonica, está dessituado da época ! Não é um "verdadeiro suporte de harmonica encontrado em uma caixa"😊
It’s 1960- 1965 that the movie timeline Bob Dylan approved everything & an Executive Producer
big D energy

👏👍
pow wow wer ful❣
Make some noise big D
this film was already done by Todd Haynes. What's the point?
Would have been better if Mangold got Phoenix to reprise his protryal of Cash in this.
Too old & he wouldn’t have done it it’s a minor role
It could be good. But it will be another generic music bio pic. I feel like Dylan deserves a different approach
Todd Haynes did it over a decade ago with "I'm Not There".
How different
Different from what? You haven't seen the movie yet
Hopefully Mangold didn't mangle this like he did Indiana Jones
Any Bobby fans in here also think this looks awful? I’m not the audience though, I can’t stand music biopics.
Looks great. What's the issue
Same here. I'll just watch the original performances.

Nope, I like good BioPics!
@@tompaulcampbell Walk Hard is still the only music biopic I’ll ever need
T.C. has a very limited skill set, and doesn't have the depth or gravitas for this role.
The fact that he knows who Bob Dylan is is already deep enough for me.
"Everyone's a critic". Bob Dylan
Nice try, troll. He's already being campaigned for awards. Go pick on someone your own size. Timothee's too big for you.

'A Complete Unknown' looks like a complete disaster.
I disagree and I am quite sure it will introduce Dylan to a lot of new people, which is great!!!!
Jesus. Bob Dylan wasn’t in Tiger Beat. Never seeing this movie.
