    In this tutorial, you'll learn how to put any image on a glass surface to create a displacement for a debossed effect. Almost any image would work, just make sure you have a dense mesh.

    Great video! I have a quick question. Let's say we will arrange the metalness and roughness of the parts with the text that we separate with this displacement. How can we do that?

    Newbie here. Sorry for the question. But why manually do the thickness? Why not just use solidify? Or extrude inside the bottle? Just want to know if there are some different effect when done this way

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  11 месяцев назад

      That’s a good question actually. You can achieve same result using various methods. Though if you model inner parts manually, you have more control over thickness and can vary it the way you want it to be. So it’s kinda more precise approach compared to solidify modifier.

    How would you add multiple displacements/logos on the same objects. For example, if you wanted the "hugo boss" to have the same effect as "Boss"? Thanks for the great tutorial!

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's a good question. You can add several displace modifiers and control them independently. You can even create different UV maps, it would help to correctly apply displacement for some difficult areas where your "default" UV map doesn't look good. Hope that helps.

    Great tutorial! Any idea why my entire bottle is being displaced? If I increase Scale in the Displacement node, the bottle becomes inflated. If I crank it, the bottle will start to look like a ball.

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  3 года назад

      Hey Joel, try to set midlevel to default 0,5 then slightly increase the scale, it might help. Also you can share your file in a Fb group (the link on the main channel page under a cover) and I’ll take a closer look :)

  • @Tudemir3
    @Tudemir3 3 года назад +1

    There's something maybe I missed.
    Did you subdivide The mesh in order to obtain more definition with The displacement. I understand that 'bump' makes a fake relief (so you don't need to subdivide so much) but I thought that, with displacement, you firstly had to dense and multiply The mesh to display The more vertexes The better.

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  3 года назад +1

      I added a subd modifier at 1:49, you can use a shortcut for it: CTRL + 3 to add subd with 3 steps.

    • @Tudemir3
      @Tudemir3 3 года назад +1

      @@andymvisuals Thank You. Then I Missed it. It was strange for me to achieve that level of detail without any subdivision.

    applying displacement and bump and scaling up the entire bottle is getting thicker and the letters are kinda broken.. is there any way that I can bump up only the letters?

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  2 года назад

      You can try to invert an image you use as a displacement map and set midpoint to 0.3 or smth similar (make sure to set less than 0.5)

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  2 года назад

      Also make sure object scale is set to 1, you can check it on properties tab

  • @uxvoin
    @uxvoin Год назад

    Why displacement map used, if bump map is enough? The logo not really deep into glass (like 5-10cm) but 0.5-1mm max

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  Год назад

      You can use a normal/bump map as well for a more subtle effect. In this case bump map wouldn’t be enough for closeup renders, it would look flat. Though you can try and see if a normal map works or not.

      I prefer this method over solidify since it provides more accurate results and you can create different thicknesses which bring more realism. Though solidify is a good mod anyway.

    • @andymvisuals
      @andymvisuals  11 месяцев назад +1

      You have to make sure scale of your object is set to 1. Otherwise the modifier would give incorrect result because of a wrong object scale.
      Also you want to scale your object in Edit mode, not Object mode. This way the scale parameter won't be affected and will remain at 1.
