- The common mistake when beginners light glassy bottle in blender is using 3 point lighting setup without the understanding of lighting. A glassy bottle or any reflective surface is very challenging to light properly in real world. In this blender tutorial, I will show you how to light glassy bottle in Blender, the key thing is about the surrounding environment, not about the softness/size of the light. 3 point light is not going to serve your render well.
This is an ongoing studio lighting video series, which means improving your understanding of using studio lights in Blender or even in a real photoshoot.

looks real, how can you make same fonts
Thank you Wenbo for this awesome demonstration!
I love the idea of using planes as light. Could you share how you would control the harshness of the light? This is nice and soft light, but if you need something to produce harder shadows, would you then use the light object provided in Blender?
Thank you! :)
Make light size small to create hard light, check out my free ”master one light tutorial “ in the Chanel
@@WenboZhao Thank you for your reply!
Great tutorial!! What is the name of the material preview add on that you had?
Node preview
Hello, Wenbo just saw two of your lighting renders about the glass bottle, it looks good and professional with that texturing and shading at the edge and the bottom of the glass bottle. We have this perfume bottle working on its texturing render and find it difficult to achieve the effect we are looking for. We were wondering if you could perhaps have an idea about achieving that. I can show you an image for reference. If you have an email to reach to.

Hey Wenbo! Could you have a full rendered image at the end of your videos?
Seeing the methods you use is amazing, but not seeing the final result is a little disappointing :D

My label is not clear and seems overexposed when I do this.. Can you help me with that?? Also there is a middle dark region strip on the glass .
how wenbo, another tip, when using vertical resolutions for your camera set your sensor orientation to vertical on the lens configuration
Your are giving golden nuggets 🥰💪
@@WenboZhao I hope so! You are the best teacher on youtube, thanks for all the knowledge you've been putting here.
Hi Wenbo, how did you get the gradient result even right? You go from the ColorRamp directly into the Gradient Texture (which is connecting a yellow to blue dot, what isn't supposed to work). There has to be a sort of converter between them to fit the color of the node connections. So as expected I can't get it to work properly. The plane stays either bright or totally black, though I followed all your steps precisely. I don't have a clue, what node to add between :( Maybe you have a solution for that?
On the texture coordinator in the end, select object instead to Generated
@@WenboZhao And that's exactly the moment, the gradient turns black ;)
在国内有视频可以看么, 大佬
I am still having a lot of trouble getting the glass to look right even with the bad set up. When I build my bottle and use the glass texture you recommended in your other videos, I just get a black bottle. Is it because the bottle has thickness to it? How can I fix that problem?
I once tried to render glass without thickness, but it had a "liquid" inside, and it also renders looking black. What do you think could be causing this problem?
Check your render setup, what number did you set up on the reflection?
Hi! I've set up the planes but the bottom plane is not rendering white as seen in the viewport. Is there a setting I need to adjust?
roughness need to be 0
@@WenboZhao Ok, thanks! I’ll try that. My current fix was to increase the backlight emission but it washes out the object. Thanks again!
Would you rather use your lightning trick from lesson 20 ? with gradient light ?
All depends on the lighting situations
for some reason i couldn't reproduce the EXACT result as it depicted here 😓 top light refuse to work for me
I would like to subscribe to your member channel. Can you post some tutorials with Chinese subtitles?
Do you know any translation tool I can use for my subtitles?
@@WenboZhao NetEase can recognize the translation and then generate subtitles, but the machine translation is not accurate and some errors need to be corrected manually.
@@WenboZhao I know that youtube can also be translated, but it has too many mistakes.
Hi, I couldn't get the same result, I sent you a DM on Instagram showing my problem, can you help?
No problem, let me take a 👀
