I needed this!! Thank you so much. 💓
Thanks for the tips Angie. I haven't used my Cricut for cardstock much but this is very helpful for me.
Wow! My
Machine ate my paper yesterday. So timely! Thanks

Thank you Angie for sharing this video ❤
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Angie!! I've been getting into making greeting cards and was close to buying a manual die cutter because it looked like they were better at intricate cuts. While I balked at the idea of doing that since I owned a Cricut, I'd had such trouble with intricate cuts, that I didn't know what to do. Thank you!!!!
Happy to help!
This was the video I was searching for! Thank you!!! It explains so much.
Glad it was helpful!

As a Cricut newbie, your videos are invaluable! Thank you, Angie.
I'm so glad!
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Thank you!
You bet!
Liked your video BUT, you can cut intricate cuts with cheap cardstock if you ADJUST the PRESSURE setting in the MATERIALS setting (on lower left corner of menu). Find CARDSTOCK for INTRICATE CUTS and adjust the PRESSURE NUMBER AND NUMBER OF CUT PASSES. On my Maker 3 machine, I found that a pressure of 170 with ONE cut pass works 99% of time for all types of cardstock(65 lb., 80 lb., Metallic & Fine Glitter, etc). Just do a test cut with a scrap first and adjust pressure number accordingly. Only adjusting the Pressure settings of Default, More or Less does NOT work well for intricate cuts. The amount of pressure (the number setting) must be adjusted.
I also have NO issues with using an old dirty mat, as long as it is sticky. If my mat is not sticky, I clean it with a baby wipe. If it still isn't sticky, I re-stick it with Full strength Aleene's Tack-It-Over & Over (a "glue" product - Amazon sells it). It goes on like glue and I use an old store gift card to squeegee it on in a thin layer. Takes about 10 minutes to dry & stickiness lasts a long time. Even with cleaning with a Baby wipe, it stays sticky. I only had to replace mats when they cracked and were several years old.
Hope you check this PRESSURE adjustment out.
It saved me a lot of frustration and money from wasting cardstock.
I make custom settings all of the time. I walked through what I normally look at with cardstock cuts. It may or may not work for you and that is okay.
Thank you for the great tips! I always forget about the intricate cuts setting. I have had trouble with white core papers and was wondering what the problem was. I will stay clear of those in the future!
Happy to help!
Exactly same here. Ugh. Brain like a sieve. Lol. Amazing when I do use it, 2 hours to try and make a card last night, tonight 10 mins ugh. Thank you
To add further, I would mention specific paper weight you are cutting, what type blade, and then settings.
Loved this video. How do you clean and make the mat sticky again.

Thank you sooooo much 😊
Planning to cut intricate butterflies for wedding table deco.. can you tell me if I can cut thicker material than this with Cricut or only card stock for intricate design…would be a big help..thank you for all you tips & will keep watching
Explore series machines will cut thicker than cardstock and the Maker will cut even thicker. Depends on the material you want to cut.
Thanks, Angie. Really good information!
A few things: I do not see an intricate cardstock setting when I go to the Materials. Secondly, while these examples are made using the larger machine, I have a lot of problems with the Joy machine not cutting cleanly, tears the upper left corner ala the medium cardstock you first showed, and/or tearing the insert cardstock I am using. I've changed blade, etc. and that does seem to help some, but I am wondering if I should increase the pressure setting in the insert cardstock setting? Any advice is greatly welcome. Also, I do not see an Intricate Cut setting when I go to the materials section. Where is that located?
And, thanks again for another informative video!
The Joy doesn't have several of the features of the other machines and I think that setting may be one of them. You can, however, make a custom setting and play with it. The key is to do two passes so you actually do not go as deep on the first pass. You can see more about custom settings here: ruclips.net/video/EmUR16HQ-4o/видео.html
Is there a shape/design you would recommend for a test cut that is intricate enough to test with? I usually do a star about 1/2 an inch.
I generally do a heart. If I wanted to test for intricate cuts I would do a heart in a heart and make it small!
Hello Angie and everybody .
Do you have a video with the same issues with vinyl , even if i clean my blade and use a new mat on intricate design i have some ripping area5sorry for my english. , i'm not a native speaker)
Yep try this: ruclips.net/video/7dbQIQp0CGo/видео.html
Thank you for a great video. i cannot find the butterfly svg. I've clicked on the link and it takes me to a page where I have to subscribe to with the butterflies in the background. I've subscribed 5 times and the butterflies disappear and a file for baby things appears. I really like the butterfly. How can I get it?
It goes to your email once you sign up. Just check the email that you put in the sign up form. You can email angie@thecountrychiccottage.net and we can assist you.
What is the difference between tips and tricks?
The pink floral foiled cardstock on the bottom right what brand is it? I clicked on the link and it takes me to Cricut but I do not see it there. Thanks 😊
It was Cricut at one time. They may have discontinued that pattern! It was in a pack with several different types of paper. I think it might have been Anna Griffen if that helps.
@@AngieHolden thank you

I do not have a Silhouette so I am not sure.
Wear is the inticut setting
In Cricut Design Space. It is called "cardstock for intricate cuts". I usually search for "intricate" to find it.

So frustrating when you have so many possible reasons for it to rip.
