I’ve never spent that much at dollar tree in my life! And, at that point, I’d never even used a Cricut machine. Once I’d spent so much on supplies, I figured I needed I really should get a Cricut machine….

The background remove website SAVED MY LIFE OMGGGGGGGG I meticulously cut out the background of every product shot to lay it on a mock up and I've been wanting to pull my hair out at how difficult it is, I just checked the website and it did it in ONE CLICK!! AHH!!! You're amazingggggggggggg

Font lab pad is free, it works with the fonts installed on your computer and will save what you type as a png with a transparent background. So no need to screenshot and no background to remove.

For Mac users, use the pre-installed app called Font Book, its like that website, but does so much more like organizing by custom or smart collections. plus it comes on all Macs so Mac users already have it.

Love Tip 6 - Being able to print out all my fonts is FABULOUS. I now have a notebook full of both my fonts and Google fonts. Yes, I bought the Pro version.

PLEASE DO MORE HACKS VIDEOS! These are GREAT. I’ve seen tons oh hack videos, most of which I knew 95% of, I only knew 2 of your hacks! It’s awesome you give credit to the person you got the hack from. Most people would just say they generally like TikTok.
For those without a Cricut or other cutter. Save a little bit at a time. After saving for months I finally bought a Cricut Explore Air 2 from Hobby Lobby for $150. I got lucky cause I was debating getting a Joy for the same price or buying a Explore Air 2 from Walmart for $199. The Walmart one had some extra things but I don't mind missing out on them for a $50 discount. After that I bought a bag to store it in off Anazon for $13. Unfortunately, once you have the machine you'll want to personalize everything and you'll really want some of the extra things like an easy press and a longer mat. I bought mine to cut ephemera for journals and scrapbooking. I tried DT vinyl just once and decided I need to vinyl EVERYTHING now.

Hey quick tip for the Mac and saving pictures. Instead of text edit you can go on word or PowerPoint. Write in your text and then highlight the text and right click and it will say save as picture!
You're right - that last one IS awesome! Also, I love the idea of just getting a screen shot of script font! Duh! SO much easier than placing them one letter at a time!!! And you can find a lot of great free fonts online and stick it in Word.

For the text literally use any program. I like to use Krita but even like MS Word will work. Just type whatever you want, format it and save it as a PNG. In word you can actually safe a textbox as a PNG
Indeed. I always use third party programs for text and graphics and save as PNG or SVG. Design Space is so much limited and waste of time in that respect. Everyone should learn at least one other program with decent graphic design capabilities. It really saves time.

Cricut used to be more simple w the cartridges ... but very limited and a bit rip offed feeling with that model, hard to explain. You are so not alone. I taught cricut classes at Michaels for a while, and we had a huge number of first time users who had their machines for a long time, some tried a project or 2 and became frustrated. You almost have to not get attached to your first projects and sacrifice some time, energy, and materials to get a feel for things, but if you don't expect that going in it feels hopeless. How did people craft before youtube hehe

My favorite weeding tool is a DIY pin pen. The trick is to use a #7 lead pencil with size 7 sewing needle.
There is no better tool than hooked Cricut Weeder.

Best weeding utensil is the Pin-Pen, Also you never peel a decal from the front, always pull the backing away.
Pin pen is great but there is a better tool. Watch best vinyl weeding tools video.

except Microsoft Word and Powerpoint are now paid for programmes/software - Text edit is already installed on Mac.

Another tip! For the needle and mechanical pencil trick, flip the needle around so the pointy side is picking the vinyl off :)

After reading some comments I feel better bc I'm 56 yrs old & been crafting since my grandmother took me to Lee Wards on the weekends!!(before Michaels)I'm TRYING to be patient, but its not one of my best virtues...I'm Totally an Instant Gratification kinda person, but I'm working on it. @@michelehealy8327 I am doing the same with procreate app on my new ipad pro ... I just want to be able to crank a wicked design out naturally ... realized I have to learn a ton. Cricut used to be more simple w the cartridges ... but very limited and a bit rip offed feeling with that model, hard to explain. RUclips is a great resource .. and I think cricut design space is more simple than , well compared to this ipad app lol
You are so not alone. I taught cricut classes at Michaels for a while, and we had a huge number of first time users who had their machines for a long time, some tried a project or 2 and became frustrated. You almost have to not get attached to your first projects and sacrifice some time, energy, and materials to get a feel for things, but if you don't expect that going in it feels hopeless. How did people craft before youtube hehe

I just got my Cricut maker a couple weeks ago and I still haven't used it. I have actually been watching all these different videos because I am a newbie to Cricut. I love your tips so far, where did you get that awesome image of the game controller that says professional gamer on it? My husband is a twitch streamer. He wants that shirt!
I agree with what Leah wrote to start with a simple project and go from there. How cool that he is a twitch streamer!! I found the controller on the Cricut image library. I made the shirt for my 6 year old son 😀
