Thanks. I have 3 machines. 1. Cricut Expression. Love this machine. Yes, you can still get cartridges. Paid $20. 2. Cricut Joy. Great for making cards. It’s very portable. Bought mine on Mercari for $129. Free shipping. Came with machine, cords, mini press, tools, markers, blades and three rolls of vinyl and two mats. 3. Maker 2. Just purchased it at the beginning of May. $60. Came with cords, 20 rolls of vinyl and tools. Each machine has its own capabilities. I have them set for certain projects.
Do you need the heat press for shirts?
The Cricut Maker has a hold on me. I just got 2 Maker 3. My cousin just got gifted a Cricut from her daughter. We’re about to do all kinds of things for the family.

Original Maker has Fast Mode for many commonly used materials like vinyl, cardstock, glitter cardstock etc. Fast Mode speed and Maker 3 standard speed are the same. This fact is not well known, nor it's advertised by Cricut.
I have 3 cricuts, Joy, cartridge Expression and the Bluetooth Expression. My Joy and blue tooth Expression cuts the smart vinyl great. The Joy is handy for element cuts and small quick projects. I don’t do much print & cut.
You mean (Bluetooth) Explore (3)? As far as I'm aware, Expression machines had no Bluetooth capabilities, nor matless cutting.
I have had a bunch of ideas for projects and needed a way to cut things, and it only just occurred to me to use a cricut. This video has been a big help for informing me. Is there any difference to precision between models, or are all of them equally as precise? It would be a neat video to see what the limits of precision are for each machine
When it comes to basic cut, they are all pretty accurate. When it comes to Print Then Cut, Explore Air 2 has the worst sensor and many users experience issues with the sensor not being able to read the registration marks on glossy materials but there are known hacks to circumvent the issue.
For the cricut joy plus, do you know how thick paper it can cut? Can it handle 250 GSM photo paper?

Is it the Cricut Explore Air 2? The Joy machines are the ones that are more limited with smaller images.
Which cricut is best for cutting the glitter foam sheets with clean lines. I make homecoming mums and have been deciding on a machine for a while but still unsure of which one.
Explore machines can cut foam with Deep Point blade. Maker models can cut with both Deep Point and the Knife Blede. From the experience, your blades must be sharp and the mats must have decent grip.

There are plenty of videos on RUclips on how to print and cut stickers with Cricut. You need a printer to print stickers and then you cut a printed sheet using Cricut. If the stickers will be your main point of interest, avoid Explore Air 2 for its poor sensor.
I want to paint a custom helmet with unique designs, so I know I need a machine like the Cricut to cut the shapes, but I also need a material I can stick to the helmet to block the paint while I'm painting, but I also need to easily remove the material after painting. Can I do that with vinyl? Does anyone know what material I need to accomplish this?
You need removable vinyl.
I've had my Cricut Explore Air 2 for 6 1/2 years and I LOVE IT! I've never felt limited - I've made literally hundred of things with it and it's been awesome. However, I am considering upgrading now, probably to the Maker, but I have a question: I know you can cut on that without a mat, using Cricut smart vinyl. But I don't care for any of Cricut's vinyl, either permanent or HTV. Can I use another brand of vinyl in the Maker without a mat? Thanks so much for this video - it was VERY VERY helpful! It's a matter of personal preference but Cameos have better program and work offline. Cricut is the only brand that works only online. Also, consider Siser Juliet.

No Cricut can cut acrylic, only very thin acrylic sheets.
Are there blades separately purchased
Only the original Maker comes with the Fine Point Blade and the Rotary Blade. Other models come with the Fine Point Blade only. Blades for Joy and Joy Xtra are different. All other blades and housings are sold separately.
What does print then cut mean?
You send your design, like a sticker sheet from the Design Space (the program that runs Cricut) to a printer. Following that, you put the printed sheet on the mat and cut printed images.
