I have to tell you. This video helped me so much. I made one cut away card. It was completely torn up. Showing us to change the size before cutting was a big help. I didn’t even think of that. Thank you for your instructions. Great cards by the way.
Thank you! You're tutorial helped so much, you went through the process slowly and with detail. I bought a Cricut Joy for the first time and was totally lost watching other youtube videos, they went through this so fast and left out important details which led me to watching other videos and I gave up on it all together just being so frustrated. I got some inspiration and discovered your video and I am so happy I did! Even if this video is 2 years old, I still found it helpful and engaging. I love how you said you push things to the limit, that sold me on watching the rest of the video! You're awesome, thank you!
Oh my word! I watched another video last night with a guy. He showed the backing was on the back of the insert. I could NOT figure out how that worked. I received my cutaway cards yesterday. You made it SO simple. I'm ordering more of these cards. Thanks a million.
Thank you! I watched many videos how to make cards but yours is 1st! Where you actually showing how to design and how to do everything! Thank you!!!!!❤
Those packets about the only thing i admired about a Cricut Joy and now you'd made it possible for me to do it with my Explore Air 2. Luv them. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad you made this video, I was kind of disappointed on the selection of the cutaway cards until you demonstrated the image function. Thank you!
Thank you for your video. I received these today after purchasing them from Cricut. I wasn’t exactly sure how to use them. You did a great job explaining:)
Thank you very much Angie... I'm ur new subscriber and new to the Cricut world.... I like the way you explain all ur videos.... I'm definitely going to try these cards with my Cricut maker...U r my best teacher👍
I've known of Cricut Mug press & Cricut Joy but only just investigated ,researched & finally purchased those items . So far Loving it ,although trial & error can be daunting lol. I've watched a few reviewers and have found your videos are very helpful .Thank you so much for the way you present the product and explain without leaving me second guessing the steps etc :)I've made 4 mugs to date and tomorrow I'll try making cards
Fantastic video!! Thank you, Angie. Just realized I had bought a small size set of cutaway cards - thought I’d only bought insert ones - so now I can use your tips & more to try these out. As a self-professed sticker-crazy lady, being able to potentially use the weeded out parts as stickers is awesome (and the cutaway designs just might work with other cardstock & thin double-sided sheets (?), too!!)
Hi Angie, Thanks for another great video...whenever I get new crafting machines, etc. you are the first one I turn to! I just wanted to let you know that, while shopping in a craft store yesterday, I was gobsmacked when I saw a Cricut card mat for the Maker and Explore! It must be BRAND new and it's not listed on their own website. It's a 12x12 mat that has 4 different card mats on it! I was going to get it, but didn't, but now I'm going back tomorrow to buy it! I can't wait!!
Another great video Angie! Thanks for sharing. I’m going to experiment with the traditional Cricut cards but instead use double sided adhesive with the card insert to see if that works. I have so many of those cards & don’t want to buy more if I don’t have to.
I saw a few posts from people finding a new card making mat for the maker and explore machines accidentally pre-released at Hobby Lobby. I can't wait until you do a video showing us how to use this new product. I was able to order the cutaway cards on sale at Joann and I am excited to try them.
I wonder if you could take a joy card mat and place it on the maker mat to get the positioning perfect until the new maker/explore card mat is available.
Thank you so much I just bought some of these to try with my new joy and you have made so better for me to just dive in and make my cards for Mother’s Day thank you so much and happy Mother’s Day to you in advance
Hi Angie, after watching this I realized you can make your own cards with adhesive sheets, card stock, and background card stock. It would give lots of options of colors and varieties. Just tossing that idea out there.
Hi Angie, another great tutorial thanks for sharing. I have a Cricut Maker and I followed your instruction. Upon looking for the images for Cutaway they will NOT show up in Design space but when I choose the machine option for cricut Joy the same images came up with the ones your chose. When they were put on to my canvus I then changed the machine to Cricut Maker and carried on as per your instructions and all was fine from them onwards. Have you heard of this problem before. Thank you😊
hello thank you so much for the tutorial, it really helped. the challenge that i am facing is a process of cutting.when the machine start cutting it moved the card like reposition it and the cutting looks messy, how do i stable my card or mat so that it doesn't move?
Hi . can we write on the other side of the cutaway card when we use explore or maker whith blue mat and how to do that. Thank you really like all your tutorials. Linda
Thank you so much. I have a lot of pretty paper and got to thinking I could make the "cutaway" card design and then glue some of the glitter stock I have on hand to the back after. Whatcha think?
I’m following directions I just did. I have a regular cricket maker I don’t know what’s going on, but it is not cutting deep enough I even tried a different setting for cutting.
Didn't know you should add the backing before cutting, I was adding it after which worked but is probably easier getting it off the card mat your way. Nice video :)
Hi! I have a TON of insert cards. Would you consider doing a video showing how to make cutaway cards using double sided adhesive backed sheets and insert cards? I hate to purchase new ones when I literally have multiple of each pack buying them on sale. Thanks for your time and consideration!
Awesome video and I LOVE the idea. I will be trying this. I tried using card stock on the blue mat with my Maker and it stuck real bad and made a huge mess. I assumed it wouldn’t stick there like on the green mat. So I’m a bit Leary if the ‘sticky’ situation. I’ll take another try with the blue mat and hope for the best. I might just have to use my Cricut Joy if if sticks badly again with my mat for the Maker
@@AngieHolden I bought the cutaway card mat and did my first card tonight and had a terrible time weeding it. I am guessing I needed to change the pressure for the cut. I ended up retracing the majority of the card cut lines so I could remove the pieces. Angie, you are amazing. Thank you for sharing this video on cutaway cards, will be giving this a try since I do have some of these amazing cards. Love them!

Hi Angie, great video. I am very new to the Cricut community. Are you saying I can purchase Cricut Joy cut away cards and inserts and use them with my Explorer Air 2, also?
I was so excited when I saw this I order the mat and a pack of 30 insert cards. I realise that these are not what you are using. I have a maker the pack I bought just says card inserts. There is no sticky inside the cards. Not sure what to do with these? Can you advise me please.
Nice video! Just finished a few cutaways! Fun, but I have to be careful removing the cardstock. I accidentally tore the backing a bit and it drives me crazy. Made a few originals, too..
Hi Angie I'm a newbie, just bought my first cricut explore 3. Loved your video. Where can I find the large mat that holds 4 cards? Not having much luck
I usually use my own card stock. What backing adhesive would you suggest to make my own base cutaway card. I'm in Australia so products may be different
I love cutaway cards there beautiful. I am wandering though could you write inside of the card with a cutaway design and with the adhesive backer on it.
Sure! On the Joy, just flip to where the inside is on the mat and write. On the Maker/Explore, flip it over and make sure your writing is upside down and use the same trick.
Hi Angie, Thank you for the video! I got a package of the cutaway cards and have destroyed two cards already. Went through and did the settings as you've outlined in the video, but as it cuts, it's scraping up the part of the cardstock that is supposed to stay. @AngieHolden I've seen reviews that, when weeding these cards, you could easily scratch the backer. Any ideas in how to avoid that? It's kind of why I think the backer should be added after the card is cut.
If you add the backer after it is cut you would need to piece all of your smaller pieces by hand. I just remove the pieces by hand and try not to use tools to avoid scratching.
I tried making a thank you card twice but its cutting backwards. When you fold it , it will open left to right. I can't figure out why ? Help me please.
😂😂😂😂I bought my joy last year and only used it once I never knew I could add a pen, never thought to make a card with it. Thanks awesome video!

Hi Angie, after watching this I realized you can make your own cards with adhesive sheets, card stock, and background card stock. It would give lots of options of colors and varieties. Just tossing that idea out there.

I did that in my new card mat video: ruclips.net/video/Hu5zjAZ1oZ4/видео.html&lc=UgxhxjeS8Strxu5ywxt4AaABAg
Thank you very much for that video, helps a lot 🥰
Amazing, thanks Angie 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
You sold me on the cards with this video🤣 Joann is having a big 50% off cricut joy materials and I bought 2 sets with my purchase of other items😊
To keep from cutting the backer just cut the card without the backer then add it after you finish weeding the card.
If you do that, you will need to use another cut setting as these cards are not intended to be used that way.
Ty
really amazing , nice card , I like it
Thank you so much 😊
so easy to follow...thank u
Thanks, now I want to try them.
They are so awesome!
Thank you so much. I have a lot of pretty paper and got to thinking I could make the "cutaway" card design and then glue some of the glitter stock I have on hand to the back after. Whatcha think?
It will probably cut into your mat using the cutaway card setting. I would use a setting meant for cardstock but it will probably work!
you think that the cricut explore 3 would have the same results. Thank you foe this tutorial~
Yes it would be the same.
I’m following directions I just did. I have a regular cricket maker I don’t know what’s going on, but it is not cutting deep enough I even tried a different setting for cutting.
Check to ensure your blade is installed correctly. Do you have these cards on the card mat made by Cricut? That can also effect the thickness.
Didn't know you should add the backing before cutting, I was adding it after which worked but is probably easier getting it off the card mat your way. Nice video :)

If your blue mat is too sticky for the cardstock you are using, just stick it to your shirt a few times before using.

Hmmm....I did not have that issue. Maybe push your blade through a ball of aluminum foil to make sure it is clean.

I would say yes! If I remember right there is a blank insert card with just the four corners and you could lay these designs on there.
For cricut maker 3. Can you do the same without the mat?
No. Only smart materials work without the mat.
Thanks

You can as long as the card is the right size.
