well thank you so much, I used the MANDALA from you to test my Maker and it worked great, so easy to take off from the mat, you are super, thanks again, I waisted so much paper because it did nor cut all the best, or I had to cut it by hand, now, I am really happy
This is such a good video. Thank you. It worked. My only slight concern is that it too much longer to cut if I am looking to make wedding invitations. I guess I can use slightly less intricate designs.
Hi 👋 thanks for the video. I did everything you said except the light grip mat, so I will try that and see if that makes a difference. I am having the issue with the transfer paper on the cut and print .. won’t cut trees or plants. Keeps ripping and I have tried everything! Except changing the mat to light grip. 🤞
I feel like I have tried everything and intricate cuts still rip and tear. I have purchased a new blade and new mats too! Is there a better type of paper for intricate cuts?
Hi Shandra, I'm sorry to hear that! You might consider asking in a Cricut Facebook group and posting some photo examples of the issue as someone there may have more knowledge on the issue. I've had success with the settings I show in the class but other than that I'm not sure how else to help! ~Liz
@shandra Have you had any success or new findings on how to cut small designs? I'm having the same issue where the blade keeps lifting the vinyl and ends up messing up the whole cut 😭 I'm about to give up! I also bought a new blade. it's still rips and tears the whole thing. 😭
Hi Melissa! Sorry, that link was broken but I've updated it now: www.lizkohlerbrown.com/intricate-paper-cuts-with-the-cricut-machine-3-free-paper-cutting-templates/
Hi Liz, this is exactly what I've been looking for but I don't have an ipad. I want to make cards but instead of cutting the intricate patterns out of card and sticking them to the front of another card I want the pattern to be on the first page of the card like the elephant one if that makes sense.
Hi Liz, thanks for the informative video - i have a couple of questions regarding the cricut performance - 1) can the machine cut all the way up to the edges of the 12 inch area ? 2) how many cutting sessions do you think you have been able to churn out with the same blade ? had a third question, but seem to have forgotten now - will ask if i remember. thx again.
hi Kristen, I’ve never seen that issue on my machine, but I’ve heard some people talk about issues like that when they had a dull blade. I’m not sure how many cuts you can get out of a single blade, so it may be worth changing it out to see if that helps! Liz
Great video. Do you have any tips on intricate cuts using matte vinyl? I’m specifically struggling with 651 Oracle Matte vinyl, trying to cut small letters. Any suggestions? Thank you!
What is a PNG file? I’m a beginner. In trying to download the elephant image it states: cut or print and cut. Does this need to be printed? Trying to download onto my canvas. Thank you. Jerry 👩🏻⚜️

I am trying to create my own cutting files but my lines ended up too thin, can I ask how it you decide what lines are too thin for cricut and what are ok? (What’s the thinnest line you can make and still have cricut be able to do a good cut of?)
I'd say it would depend on your blade and paper so testing different line thicknesses with whatever combo you have would be the only way to know for sure! Hope that helps!
Hi Liz, thanks for this video. I tried the intricate cut today on a shimmer cardstock of 120grms. It worked the best for my intricate cuts, but still shredded the beginning of the cut, I'm assuming cos my mat has too many cuts on it (lightgrip mat). What pressure do you use for this cut? And on what cardstock? Do you go more pressure on a thicker cardstock and less on a thinner one?
Hi Janine, I'm sorry to hear that! I used the default pressure setting. You might consider asking in a Cricut Facebook group and posting some photo examples of the issue as someone there may have more knowledge on the issue. I've had success with the settings I show in the class but other than that I'm not sure how else to help! ~Liz
You may have discovered this by now ..Once you go to make It and it separates to mats ,see if there is a green EDIT under the left of the mat that is about to be cut. Click on that and the layout opens showing the placement of your piece on the mat. This is the spot where you can move the placement up, down or turn around to an angle. Hope this helped.
I am using Glitterflex ultra to cut out intricate tree of life pattern on Explore Air 2. The vinyl seems to bunch up. I changed the blade, but still having issues. Should I increase blade pressure of use setting different than glitter vinyl setting? The leaves and branches are hard to weed.
Hi Linda, I've never used that type of paper so I can't say for sure! I would probably just experiment with a few different options (like increasing the pressure as you said or trying a different paper setting). I know that vinyls are difficult to cut, so it may be worth joining a Cricut Facebook group to see if anyone can give some better advice! ~Liz
Why fast forwarding so much 😩 ..do you do a Udemy class I be in it. I just got my cricut maker and I’am learning as I go. Thanks for your video and time.
Hello! I have a whole class on Skilshare about this: www.lizkohlerbrown.com/create-paper-cuttings-on-your-ipad-in-procreate-digital-hand-cut-and-cricut-machine-cutting/ Hope that helps!
I have tried the "eat sleep create" pattern several times on vinyl and every time the smallest pieces seem to lift off the backing sheet during the cutting process. I have used different vinyls, changed the blade, changed the material setting as well as the pressure setting. Still having the same issue. Any ideas?
Hi Sarah, I've never worked with vinyl so I'm not sure I can advise on that! You might find better luck in a Facebook group for Cricut users or the Cricut Facebook page itself. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! ~Liz
Hi Mickey, I have the fabric mat, but I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say for sure! My guess is it couldn't be quite as intricate as paper though, because the fibers of most fabrics would just fall apart if you cut so finely.
Liz Kohler Brown I’m trying to cut the animals that Cindy Duke shared with the FB page. They are amazing! The intricate setting tears some of spirally things so Im going to try a different setting today! Thanks again for responding
SRSLY, GOD BLESS YOU!!!! I have been trying to cut small detail for weeks. Finally found your vid. YEAH!!!! It works!!!
So happy to hear that this helped you!
WOW thank you so much!!!!
Thank you! The settings you suggested is JUST what I needed.
I like how you always have an alternative.
This video spurred me to finally get an annual subscription to Skillshare. Thanks!
Thank you SO much for this video! You saved my project, my paper stash, and my sanity!!
So happy to hear that it helped you!
Omg thank you! I just bought the $470 machine and wondered be why it can't cut fine details. Will try again
So happy this helps!
THANK YOU!!
You're welcome!
thank you
I cant wait to try this setting 🙏🏻 it works and the tip for removing your project fr the mat 💛.
Thank you for the good advice! Those intricate cuts are amazing.
You're welcome!

Thank you so much! I had no idea where the heck to find this intricate cut that everyone was talking about!!
Wish I could add a photo. But, just know...you've helped my projects go to the next level!!
Thank you so much for sharing.. you save my lot of Time
This is such a good video. Thank you. It worked. My only slight concern is that it too much longer to cut if I am looking to make wedding invitations. I guess I can use slightly less intricate designs.
Thank you for the video and also the free templates
Very helpful! Thanks

Hello, I like your work. Where can I buy that machine? I like creativity.
Cricut machines are sold anywhere you can find craft supplies. I know quite a few people who have been happy with used models as well!
thanks for the great advice it really helped....are the images still available?
Hi Melissa! Sorry, that link was broken but I've updated it now: www.lizkohlerbrown.com/intricate-paper-cuts-with-the-cricut-machine-3-free-paper-cutting-templates/

Hi Barni, I'm not sure! I would ask this in a Cricut Facebook group or contact Cricut directly as they may have more info! ~Liz
Have you ever had issues with the cut twice feature not lining up on the second cut? Or just making the whole thing worse?
hi Kristen, I’ve never seen that issue on my machine, but I’ve heard some people talk about issues like that when they had a dull blade. I’m not sure how many cuts you can get out of a single blade, so it may be worth changing it out to see if that helps! Liz
thanks.
I'm really keen to know if you can use an Adobe Illustrator, say exporting it without the image being resized.
Hi Maria, Yes you could use any app that can create transparent PNG images! ~Liz
Great video. Do you have any tips on intricate cuts using matte vinyl? I’m specifically struggling with 651 Oracle Matte vinyl, trying to cut small letters. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I saw somewhere to use the Washi setting for intricate cuts on vinyl. I tried it and it works!
What is a PNG file? I’m a beginner. In trying to download the elephant image it states: cut or print and cut. Does this need to be printed? Trying to download onto my canvas. Thank you. Jerry 👩🏻⚜️
A PNG file is similar to a JPEG and transfers well to the Cricut Canvas. So just save the PNGs and then import them to the Canvas like in the video!
What brand of paper did you use?

I don’t see an option on my Cricut explore to move the object around to cut it,
Sorry, I’m not sure, but you can join a Facebook group users and ask there!
You may have discovered this by now ..Once you go to make It and it separates to mats ,see if there is a green EDIT under the left of the mat that is about to be cut. Question do you keep the pressure at default or more for the intricate setting?
Default should work!

Did you use the deep cut fine blade? Thanks for this tutorial!!
Hi Belinda, No I used the regular blade, but I used the intricate cut setting on the Cricut app! ~Liz
Is there a intercut for vinyl ?
I'm not sure as I've never tried to cut vinyl! I would check the app settings to see what cuts are available.
Can you use fabric to get these intricate cuts?
Hi Mickey, I have the fabric mat, but I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say for sure! My guess is it couldn't be quite as intricate as paper though, because the fibers of most fabrics would just fall apart if you cut so finely.
Why are you using the light grip mat?
Hi Rae, I found the other mat tears some of the intricate pieces, so the light one works better for me.
Liz Kohler Brown thank you

I gotta say, Bazzill cardstock just does not play nice with Cricut.
