I’ve been struggling to do the weeding on mine. I’ve used three types of vinyl and nothing seems to work. I’ve done the regular weeding and the letters don’t stay behind on the liner while I had it on the mat. I’ve done the reverse weeding and ALL the vinyl stick to transfer tape while I’m trying to weed. I’ve don’t all types of settings font sizes and designs to see if that’s the issue and nothing seems to be working. And all with brand need housing and needles.
Thank you!!!! The Washi setting was a lifesaver! i changed my blade, moved the dial trying settings, wasted vinyl. Googled ideas, The washi setting was all I needed!!!
I've found it helpful when I'm reverse weeding, to use small pieces of strong grip transfer tape to tape down the corners of my project to my (self healing) cutting mat.
Thank you! Thank you ! for this .. I do scripture trinkets, a lot of scriptures on keychains and the fonts are usually small and delicate, it has been a struggle. But since watching your video I did a slight redesign and tried cutting them using the washi sheet in default setting and trust me it has been much easier to weed. Granted I didnt use the reverse weeding but I feel so much better doing my trinkets 😍

I watched this video and ordered all the things recommended and while I couldn’t get a cut through any vinyl, even StarCraft, the vinyl setting worked beautifully on it. You’re the best! I am going right now to try this for some 90th birthday ornaments for my aunt's birthday. I couldn't do it yesterday as the letters were so small. I know now that with your help I'm gonna make it happen!
I forgot about reverse weeding. Could of really used it for Christmas ornaments, but like you said, apply soon after you do it. Lol like the reverse for small letters ,which I indeed had. I would of stuck it back on cutting sheet to use as a third hand. Great video tutorial! I’m new to Cricut and have had some weeding problems with small details. I’m going to give your method a try. I think it’s possible that some of the vinyl I received as part of my Cricut bundle may be a little “older” and may have started to fix itself more strongly to the backing it came on even before it was cut. That’s pretty tiny. It may be ok but you won’t know until you try :) the vinyl can also effect how the small fonts cut so trying out different brands of vinyl is always a good idea too

I've been in tears over weeding and transferring tiny stuff for Christmas ornaments lately, can you tell me how the "washi" setting cuts different and benefits the weeding/transferring? 😒 No washi sheet setting on my "Joy" 😓 Just my laptop or just not meant to be?
The washi setting uses different pressure to cut which helps not pick up the small details of the vinyl and get them lifted by the blade. The joy lacks in settings a little bit. I would recommend test cutting and creating your own setting to see what works best for your machine

I don’t. It’s not a great quality product and it’s more hassle than it’s worth. If you absolutely must cut off mat buy the teckwrap version of smart vinyl it is far better quality than the cricut brand and easier to work with.
Hello, your tutorial is great , You know any tricks to cut and weed Cricut infusible ink transfer sheet , because I have noticed my Maker3 is like not cutting all the way through like it needs just a little bit more pressure, even though I used more pressure when cutting! Hmmm to be honest I haven’t cut infusible ink in forever. You can look under custom materials and see what the pressure is set to then find something that’s a bit more and try using that
@@lynford89 htv is already weeded this way since the carrier sheet is already sticky. You cannot press htv without weeding or it will all stick to the fabric
hi .. so I'm having trouble with small decal this video was very helpful , however im also having issues with a prebought svg looks like the nutrition label that is supposed to go downward, but its printing straight across how do i change this , I'm very new to cricut lol

@@terrim.602 this video is the advice on that. Reverse weeding is explained in the video. You don’t weed the vinyl off the backing you weed it off the transfer tape
It takes time and practice also if your design is too small this may never work there are limits or if your vinyl is not cut well or poor quality this won’t really work either
Ugh. Did reverse weeding as a first time project this morning. 😐😖 all the letters were sticking to the transfer tape. Uhhhh I was going to make it work no matter what. I got them off but they aren’t in line straight. lol.
It takes practice. Just because I did it fairly flawlessly does not mean you will on your first try. Also if you have cut too deep or not deep enough that can really affect things. Transfer tape also has a big effect too.
Htv is basically reverse weeding all the time. I would recommend doing a double cut with small fonts so when it’s done cutting don’t unload the mat just hit go again

There are limits to how small items can be cut. Also not sure what vinyl you’re using but that can make such a difference. Also making sure your blade is sharp so maybe try a new blade. But it could just be the letters are too small for the machine to cut well

That is super small. All machines will have a limit of how tiny they can cut. I would try maybe a different brand of vinyl or use the washi sheet setting to cut
There’s not a specific size listed. It has a lot of factors that change how small you can cut. Your material, your design and your machine can all effect the size
I make a lot of wood door hangers for people that want an SVG of their dog on it and when they are long hair especially the tiny little pieces are in sane. I am new to this and I find it especially difficult if the vinyl is white. So what method should I use if I am needing to weed an SVG of a dog that is very detailed? I never even heard of washi or reverse so what exactly do they mean?
Reverse weeding is what I show in this video. Its when you place the transfer tape over the vinyl before you weed. it helps keep those really small pieces down since the transfer tape is sticky.
I'm new to Cricut and have a (brand new) old machine (Expression) . I am trying to make tiny letters to put on spice jar lids and apparently, I suck at it. Backing of vinyl keeps sticking to my mat, I can't get the transfer tape to pull up the letters I finally got weeded. I'm ready to give up!!!

If you’re going to use it later yes you can put the backing back on but typically I use my decals right away.

Older vinyl will for sure do that. And honestly if it’s cricut brand you’ll come to learn that is not a quality material

You place transfer tape on the design then remove the whole design from the vinyl back in sheet

Also helps to put back on the mat, like an extra set of hands!😁
You should not actually weed on your mat. You will reduce the stickiness of the mat and also risk getting debris on your mat.

This is called reverse weeding. it is done to help preserve the small letters that may lift when you weed it from the backing.

What happens if your vinyl doesn’t cut all the way thru in places, are you screwed?

No reverse weeding is only for adhesive vinyl

Hi Corinne, i would like to fix a decal at 1,5 cm which usually is a name withih 3-12 letter how should i do it with cricut explorer air 2 i have been trying but unsucessful any advise?
That is super small. All machines will have a limit of how tiny they can cut. I would try maybe a different brand of vinyl or use the washi sheet setting to cut

There’s not a specific size listed. It has a lot of factors that change how small you can cut. Your material, your design and your machine can all effect the size

You just put it back on the regular backing. I just don’t really recommend doing it as it activates the adhesive and can make it not last as long

I make a lot of wood door hangers for people that want an SVG of their dog on it and when they are long hair especially the tiny little pieces are in sane. I am new to this and I find it especially difficult if the vinyl is white. So what method should I use if I am needing to weed an SVG of a dog that is very detailed? I never even heard of washi or reverse so what exactly do they mean?
Reverse weeding is what I show in this video. Its when you place the transfer tape over the vinyl before you weed. it helps keep those really small pieces down since the transfer tape is sticky.

What type of paper did you put back your decal mine doesnt stick back after i remove the vinyl
Its just the backing from the vinyl. Make sure you are placing it back on the correct side

That’s going to be really tiny and possibly too small for the cricut. Try the washi setting when cutting

I'm new to Cricut and have a (brand new) old machine (Expression)
. I am trying to make tiny letters to put on spice jar lids and apparently, I suck at it. Backing of vinyl keeps sticking to my mat, I can't get the transfer tape to pull up the letters I finally got weeded. I'm ready to give up!!!
Your mat is too sticky if the vinyl backing is sticking to it. Touch it with your hands a bunch to destick it.
Will washi work with iron ones too? I am trying to make koozies and fonts are tiny
