First rule of fasting is you don't talk about fasting.
People never get it and they are convinced you are going to die.

That's kinda like what the bible says. Fasting is between you and God, you dont show off. You do it in secret. Your apperance should be normal.

Taking EDTA after a long fast with out knowing the level of minerals in your body is a bad idea. Plus in another video he showed someone breaking a long fast eating raw greens and another eating a steak. These are the hardest things to digest especially on a system that's been idle for many days. There's nothing wrong with breaking a long fast with easily digestible carbs like well cooked potatoes creamed in a broth with milk and eggs taken in small portions at a time. There's a reason why this guy's got millions of views on yt and it aint because he's telling all the truth.

@@cottage_pie I first started with 24hr, then 48hr, then 1 week, and now I've just completed a ten day water fast, only drinking water, seltzer, and zevia (stevia extract based soda, zero calorie, zero sugar, and some flavoring, no chemicals), I also took a fist full of vitamins and electrolytes everyday. I'll tell you this: the mental clarity cannot be overstated. I don't know if this makes any sense, but I could hear the silence. I felt more present than I ever have (outside of some good times with psychedelics). I plan on working my way up to a Jesus fast (40 days). Going to continue coupling intermittent (24/1) fasting with low fat keto for a couple weeks as a break and go for 14, or maybe 21, depending on how I feel on day 14. @@AhsanKhan-eo8dv I was very motivated through the entire fast 😊. First 24 hours were easy, I had my water with me all day, I had coffee, and I also took my vitamins at noon every day. Second day I felt good but I had to avoid being in the kitchen when the food was being prepared because the smell of it affected my stomach juices and it made me feel hungry even though I wasn’t. During the 3rd day I felt great, happy I’ve gotten thus far, great energy, I’ve visibly lost weight, the gap between my thighs got bigger, my stomach was completely flat, my skin was clean, even my face looked more slim. 🌟 Those are the good sides of it, but honestly I really missed food 😄 Not because I was hungry but because I am such a foodie! I looove preparing food and I enjoy creating different recipes. So I really missed that part, that’s why I love intermittent fasting 18:6 - it involves food on a daily basis 😄. So what I would recommend for an occasional prolonged fast is a 48h fast. That will be my next prolonged fast. I’ll try to do one every month or two. I know I will still get great results with it but I won’t be without food as much 🤗🌟

I have now down 3 x 5 day water only fasts and after my 1st one things changed for me as I was able to stop most of my medication between my infusions. I have now just finished my 3rd fast and I have now been able to stop all my medication between my infusions. This medication was for nerve pain and frequent urination. I can't wait to get on that MRI scanner come June and see if I have any positive changes.

I reversed T2D. Had been on farty pants Metformin for 2 months in my 40's, decided it wasn't for me and (inadvertently) fasted for 14 hours with a 10 hour eating window - also removed processed sugar products, whilst reducing carbs in general. Although, I did eat porridge (oatmeal) every morning for 3 months. Weight dropped off, health improved and bloods returned to normal. Wish doctors would stop handing out this medication when the key is to treat ourselves better. Anybody with liver, diabetes issues, please watch Dr Jason Fung's videos. HIGHLY informative, invaluable information. Also, there's a channel called ''A Healthy Alternative'', many interviews with folk who've reversed diabetes, high blood pressure and who've lost a ton of weight. It shows a more personable side to what it's like to use different fasts as a means of regaining health. Good luck to everyone!

Currently, I’ve done 23:1 fasting protocol (one meal a day) for 21 days. I did one 48 hour fast during that time as well. I feel clear, energetic, brain fog and aches and pains in my body are gone. After the first day or two, it became incredibly easy. All cravings disappeared and I hardly think about food and snacks like I used to when I used to eat 3 meals a day + snacks. I’m also exercising about a half hour a day, and feeling stronger all the time. I plan to do this forever!

I found out I had hypothyroidism and the first thing the endocrinologist asked me was if I had fibroid tumors I told her all over my body and she told me that's the first sign of a thyroid problem. I went seven years with no answers and doubled my weight. Not one doctor I had ever heard of so I tell everyone hoping it might help someone else. The weight has never come off but I keep trying. I have been watching Dr. Berg's videos hoping to get some answers. I have been on a fast for 8 days now hoping to kickstart my body. I don't know how long I will go, I guess when I get hungry.

Today marks my 30th day of fasting. I was inspired by this video. Feeling fine, FULL of energy! Taking supplements, Dr. Berg's electrolytes, and Dr Berg's wheat grass.
The ONLY bad thing is I have very loose, saggy skin on my neck...I kinda look like a turkey! 😂 I'm not worried about it, though...After I decide to break my fast, I will be taking collagen powder and exercising my body (neck included) to see if that will help. If it still is saggy, a little nip and tuck will work nicely if the sagging still bothers me. 😉
To date, I have lost 30 pounds BUT the most AMAZING thing is the amount of ENERGY I have!!! I have gotten SO MANY projects done that were put off for so many years!!! I truly am a different person now! I WISH I had done this YEARS ago!!!
All of my renewed life I credit to Dr. Berg for his wonderfully informative videos and, of course, to God for designing our bodies to restore our health through His process of autophagy!!!
I just wanted to share my testimony in case some of you were on the fence regarding doing a prolonged fast.
One last thing, I don't feel amazing or heroic for not eating for 30 days...You know what IS "heroic?" It took me 5 days of feeling absolutely miserable (Very cold, headaches, recipes dancing in my head...struggling with not eating, yet having to cook for my family, etc.)...SURVIVING those 5 days is "heroic!!!" After those absolutely miserable 5 days, I wasn't hungry AT ALL and FULL of energy!!!
Hang in there, folks...When you get over "the hump," it's smooth sailing! Here's to your health! 🤩

@@Krishanapanchaal1 I, actually, went on to complete 40 days of fasting! I STILL felt so good (I was NOT starving myself, as I still had plenty of body fat for ketosis to feed off) but decided to very slowly (as per Dr. Berg's recommendations) break the fast.
The ONLY side effect I had after the 5 days was that although I had TONS of energy and mental clarity...I was not as physically strong as I normally am and THAT was a problem for me because I run a homestead that requires a lot of heavy lifting work. Household chores were NOT a problem, though.
I got lots of compliments from strangers about how good I looked (I'm 62)...I guess I looked younger and healthy. 😊
Also, I would recommend that IF you do a prolonged fast, do it when the weather is warm...I did one in winter and quit after a week because the cold weather made me feel terrible. 🥶
Watch Dr. Berg's excellent videos on fasting. I would not have tried doing it without educating myself FIRST.
Good luck! For me, it was a great experience!! All the health benefits are numerous! The FIRST 5 days were hell for me but, once I pushed through that period, I wondered WHY I hadn't done it years ago!!! 🤩

I drank milk, which I understand is "bad", but it's all I had.. I had no intention of losing weight..my only focus was a biological need to protect my three babies..so, I can verify this does work.

80 hours down. Unknown hours to go. The first secret is to start with a dry fast for 2 days and then move on to water fasting. Water makes you really hungry. The second secret and probably the most important one is to never tell anyone that you are fasting. Keep it a secret!!
Edit: An update. I managed to fast for 21 days in total. My personal record. It was incredible. Plan to do it sometime again. Good luck!!

Turning to OMAD eating 8 months ago and more recently to prolonged fasting is one of the best things I done for my health. So in addition to Omad eating, I do weekly 36-48 hours water fasts and monthly 72 hours of fasts.
Fasting comes naturally when you are doing keto and fat adapted.

Excellent call John!! I don't bother w 24 hour fasting any longer and do 36 hour fast, once a week, without, without, any change to my working or workout schedule. (including multi-hour, fast paced mtn bike rides in hilly Oregon) That is one day and 2 nights with only water. I find this so natural for me that that often the 36 hour fast gets stretched out far beyond 36 hours. I learned to listen to my body this way, learning when I should break the 36 hour fast. This same "body talk" will inform you on longer fasts as well.
fyi: my longest fast has been 8 days / 202 hours. I stopped going longer due to outside pressure from family members bend on controlling me and my options in life. They simply don't like me surpassing them (one person in particular.) I really need to stop considering her opinion at all. She is a classic progressive, Leftist, very narrow minded, believing that everything must be justified by a political purpose (politics as a religion).

    • @JohnThunder
      @JohnThunder 6 лет назад +6

@captnhuffy You said something important here and that is to learn to listen to your body, I agree 100% with that.
Congratulations on that 8 days fast, that's great progress! :)
I can relate to family member pressure, my father who is on the S.A.D diet, is that way, trying to control me and what I choose, criticizing me on everything new I try, but it does not bother me anymore, I have my own journey in life.
Just don't be afraid of experimenting and if you're feeling great ride the wave and keep going.
I keep an open mind and try to better myself everyday.

    • @JohnThunder
      @JohnThunder 6 лет назад +10

@@justinjbolyard Yes it is, keeping your insulin down all day gives you many benefits, and depending on your goals you can increase or decrease calories.
At the moment I am gaining muscle mass and decreasing body fat with daily OMAD.
The only thing you have to do is get used to eating a large meal, I chew my food slow and I never eat in a hurry, your body will adapt to it.

I eat around 11 am and it's usually mostly protein and light veggies to break my 21 hour fast, wait about an hour and then compliment the first meal with whatever I think I need to eat for the second in order to get my nutrients for the day and then wait 21 hours for next meal and try to eat something a little different to hopefully get full compliment of nutrients of whatever might have been lacking previous 2 or 3 days. I'm allowing 1 hour from start to finish for each meal because I take my time and chew thoroughly and am not in a hurry. I also drink water and electrolytes nearly every hour from waking up until 3 hours before sleep and it is about 7 ounces each hour on the hour which is also about 1 ounce a swallow so 7 average swallows of water for me every hour with a goal of 92 to 98 ounces a day. My doctor told me to drink at least 80 for healthy kidneys etcetera. I gravitated towards this after finding out years ago that I was prediabetic and immediately cut the carbs from my diet with good results. I plan on doing 72 hour fasts every 2 to 3 months but so far I only remember going a couple of days so 1 more shouldn't be too hard. I've fasted often before because when I feel like I have a stomach bug I just stop eating for a day or 2 instead of feeding the bug(s) and prolonging the illness.

I've been regularily "fasting" for 17 hours a day for many years now,not as a fasting routine, but just because it's how I felt better.
I would stop eating around 4 or 5 in the evening and not eat again until lunchtime the next day.
I've never thought of it as "fasting" until very recently. And now that I'm aware of it I'm thinking of extending it to 24 hours.

Well, that is why the bible recommends it for spiritual purposes, also getting body benefits. God is perfect

The Bible also tells you how to have slaves instead of saying to not have them

@@majormarketing6552 Government & employers are slave owners FYI & that's the type of slavery the bible has guidance or rules on. The bible condemns the form of slavery which is holding captive of anyone against their will.

I’ve done intermittent fasting for a while in the past. I had zero brain fog, my body leaned out easily and I had a lot of lasting energy. I loved it.
