I've done many fasts and a 40 day fast once. After about 3 or 4 days, hunger goes away and you, actually, start to have a lot of energy. At some point, you aren't hungry anymore, but realize how much time you spend buying, preparing, thinking about and eating food. It is almost more about those things than being hungry. Anyway, I highly recommend fasting...and praying!
@Conqueror's haki That never happened to me and I don't want to give you bad advice. I am not an expert, nor a doctor. If it were me, then i would strongly consider ending the fast. 17 days is a long time. Take care!
@@bittercoffee113 There will be a good chance you will have hair shedding that you will notice a month or so after the fast. The longer the fast the more likely this will happen. Hair is at the very bottom of the priority list for the body, so when protein and nutrients are low it can cause hair follicles to shut down and go to sleep. This isn't hair loss as when you return to eating those hair follicles will come back into the growing stage. Chronic and long term nutritional deficiencies or hormonal imbalances cause hair loss. Bones will be broken down as well through autophagy, but this again will be quickly regenerated when you start eating and healing again. Fasting is amazing but doing it too much and not allowing the body to heal and recover can cause issues as your eating away at the body but not allowing it time to recover. Fasting is two parts, the actual fasting and then the eating and recovery aswell.

@@susanturnbull9773 Yes, I know fully what you mean, Susan. A single insight or phrase can move a mountain! I have cancer and severe breathing problems, and am morbidly obese. Recently I have started on a ketotonic diet and a dairy-free regime, to prepare for my surgery to have a kidney removed. It is hard to say 'no' to sugar and carbs, but, as you so rightly argue, it is harder to look in the mirror with self-loathing and feelings of guilt and regret for neglecting one's health over the years (I am 71). As for me, I believe firmly that seventy is, or can be, the new forty, so I don't feel old 'inside' at all, (and I'm still a whizz at mental arithmetic!) It's never too late. This is my first 24hrs of fasting. I'm aiming for 30days to get rid of the high blood pressure, cholesterol and borderline diabetes. Not excluding the excess weigh. Please pray for me. I need a change in my eating behaviors
You can get rid of all that under 30 days. You'll see a difference in a week. The trick is; once you've fasted and continuously followed a eating schedule, you must maintain the lifestyle. Otherwise, the weight will come back, the pains will come back and the medication will come back.
I am on day 36 of my 40 day water fast. 44lbs lost so far. I remember watching this video before starting. I take a multivitamin, B complex, vitamin C, magnesium supplement, sea salt, and usually 2-3 liters of water every day. I’ll likely hit 50lbs lost by the conclusion of this, which is 4 days away as of writing this. I did this for more than weight loss. I woke one Sunday morning feeling depressed and sick of the direction my life was going. It was the morning after a night of bad eating and drinking. I was tired of being tired of being tired. I couldn’t stand looking at the person in the mirror, and I was tired of the toxic relationships I had with people who used you when they needed something, but were nowhere to be found when they were doing good. A fast as a hard reset on my life was the best thing I could have ever done to find clarity in my life.
@@andrewdiolosa3861 Oh yea. 70 hours per week. Plus flying up to 3-5 times per week as well. Tomorrow is day 40 for me, thankfully. Close to 50lbs lost.
Fasting is such a great body and mind reset tool. Love it. Will do it till I die. I feel great when fasting. Mind is widening and improving on a daily basis. The constant food injection is making the opposite. Making the body busy with processing that food, but the body and mind are dependent on the carbs every 3 to 4 hours. And then hunger. No more hunger while on fasting and keto.
at 144 hours right now. I feel fantastic. 5 mile bike ride each of last 3 days, no issues. I have PAD and when fasting the pain of exerting doesn't occur
Nobody will understand the benefits of fasting until they fast... and then, boom, a new understanding of life and spirituality will unfold upon them and in front of them. God bless people like you 2. I've fasted for 25 days in a row many years ago. It was the best time of my life.
Hey! I plan to do this when my fridge becomes empty of last weeks grocery shop! My plan is to meditate and practise Qigong/yoga - and beyond! A big believer in Christ and know that He will be fasting with me during the time.
I’m currently on day 3/40 of my water fasting. I was diagnosed with leukemia 2 years ago, got cancer free for a year but now my blood tests are showing leukemia cells again. I’m praying that I will cure or at least help the cancer not to spread more. Please pray for me 😢🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😔 Edit: I ended my water fasting on a day 26/40. I didn’t mind at all the fast heartbeat which I think i had it because of dehydration, but I started being concerned when I had body chills. Literally on the day 25 I was feeling so cold. The benefits are beyond imagination though. I lost 25 pounds, I was taking 2 bp medications and now I take None. My skin looks so smooth like I am 10 years younger and my vision is so much better. Now I am eating one meal a day OMAD because I am scared that leukemia will come back. I am determined to do a 3 days water fasting once or twice a month until I am completely cancer free! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the prayers the support and love. I wish health, happiness and blessings to all of you guys! 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️ God bless you all. Hello again today is September 15th, 2024. First of I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the wishes and advices. Second of all two days ago I had my last appointment with my Hematologist and my test came back negative, no cancer cells found 😭. I have done a 25 days water fasting a 21 days, and a 42 days since January of 2024. I have reverse my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and from 228 pounds I’m 167 lbs so far. Fasting is a God send medication that heals every disease and is totally free. Sending a big hug to every each of you who prayed for me ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Another thing you should have noticed is that if you swill down some good oil like avocado or olive, you wont be hungry. Try doing that at bedtime instead, It has HUGE health benefits. FI, on the days, twice a week, when i take my tablespoon of cod liver oil at dawn, i can go til noon and never feel hungry. Oils make you lose weight, not gain weight. One of the worse things in the western diet is wheat.
I did a 30 water fast Sept.2019, which kicked off my health journey. I've lost about ~90 lbs since then. I was vegan when I started but a very unhealthy processed vegan. I have maintained the weight loss with plant based vegan OMAD and working out daily. My health is awesome! I'm currently on day 10 of a water fast as it was time of the year for another reset and wanted to shed last few lbs off. Crazy when I'm fasting all I do is watch fasting vids and documentaries...lol
@Queen Ma’at NegonYah -I’m on day 5, and I’m doing the same thing lol. Binging on fasting vids. Curious specifically how you re-introduced foods. Also, sorry to ask, but did you have a large bowel movement around day 14? Finally, did u use salt or electrolytes? 3 questions hahaa thanks so much!!
Fuckin A. I fasted for keto, felt so clear and energetic it was unreal -right before qualifying for the Boston Marathon. Shaved 20 minutes off my time. Mentally felt better than any other time in my life.
Yes when I did a 7 day fast all the sudden everyone was so concerned and telling me it’s dangerous and I needed to eat and I didn’t need to lose weight. I wasn’t doing it to lose weight I was trying to benefit from cell repair as I was in absolute agony with back pain. People really made the situation worse so I wouldn’t tell anyone if I did it again and just avoid people altogether.
Facts! Most people who say this say it from a place of illiteracy and I usually tell them, listen you yourself have got this and this and this health problem, I think you should water fast with me you will benefit more than me. That normally shuts them up lol.
I agree. People get really, really weird about food, and depriving yourself. It's really a fascinating thing to see. Maybe because we're so hard-wired into eating for survival, people just do a knee-jerk reaction?
a work friend once told me that best way to stick to a diet is to not tell anyone you are on a diet. If they asked, she would lie and say she was just craving cucumber. It is much the same. Many will feel threatened by your choices.. like it is some kind of judgement on them.I have water fasted a few times and never told anyone.
I’m on day 27 of my 40 day water fast. I have kidney failure and it’s not recommended for kidney failure patients to fast. 60 days ago I decided to eat a raw vegan diet and 27 days ago decided to start a water fast. Haven’t been to dialysis once. Sometimes trusting yourself and knowing your body is best. I meditated on the idea that my kidneys work perfectly every day. Thankful for an opportunity to heal myself. I encourage any kidney failure patient to try along with consulting a doctor. What I did wasn’t necessarily safe to be honest. Was just so sick of dialysis.
wow respect, do you just water fast? Or do you use some minerals ? Like sodium (or salt) etc? How is your breath? Did you feel alcohol like breath? Or feeleing in your mouth? It is something like acidic ? When I did 21 days fast I had this symptomes. I felt extremely tired all the time, I think is it maybe because I did not take salt?? Whats your energy level? How about your energy in muscles, are they "heavy" or "tired" ? Thanks for possible answer and hope it will help you, last question what will be you first meal?
@Brett M yea you are right, I can confirm from my own experience, In 21 days I drink just water, but It was hard.... tired all the time, heavy muscles, problem with sleep etc etc... When I did 6 days fast but with salt I had same level of energy maybe even more, sleep was better (not perfect but when I compare It was better) not heavy muscles and pretty ok energy I could even do litle exercise like yoga... so yes definitely there should be some information about electrolytes in 10+ days fasting, you are basically dehydrated because of osmosis... your body sucks at retaining sodium when you dont have insulin spikes, When I am on keto diet I can take 2-3 times more salt than before and I am completely fine, I dont know about potassium and from where could I get in on fast like sodium (which is from salt) Yea I know that there is potassium chloride just like sodium chloride but when you think about our ancestors could they supplement potasium chloride ?? I think not so our body must have some evolutionary mechanism how to retain potassium better when we fast and another fact is that potassium Is most abundant mineral in our cells sodium is outside of cells so we do not need so much because we do not lose it so much like sodium (sweat, urine etc)
Classic information!!! The bibles talks about fasting and that s no coincidence- God knows best!!! After all, he designed us ! If you put diesel in a petrel engine...
When I decided to do a 40 day water fast, I had recently been diagnosed with mild arthritis on my left shoulder. Even though it was 'mild' the pain was unbearable. On top of that, I was 25 kg overweight so I had plenty of fat stores. I was 47 year old then and after the 40 days of water fasting I felt like a 20 year old and my skin looked amazing! AND the arthritis went away and hasn't come back. I drank only tap water with a pinch of Himalayan salt, I also drank sugar free electrolyte drinks, a vitamin supplement, iron (I had low iron) taken with water and lemon (to increase its absorption) and every night I used pure magnesium oil on my legs.I was working while on the fast so the last two weeks of fasting were a little taxing as I was feeling lethargic but my mental clarity remained despite the tiredness. I also noticed some muscle mass loss but I at least I felt that I had a 'blank' canvas to work with after the fast meaning I would be able to goto the gym and build muscle on a body that had much less fat stores than when I started the fast. I'm not telling you to fast for 40 days because I am not a medical practitioner but I can say that it worked for me. Also, if you are a spiritual person, it benefits you tremendously. After the fast, it is important that you break the fast the proper way and then do a lifestyle change to maintain the benefits you obtained on the fast. Having a healthy diet, exercising and building muscle mass is paramount to having a functional and quality of life particularly if you want to age well and be able to do the things you enjoy. If you go back to your old habits, unfortunately you will again suffer the same ailments that you had before, so it needs to be a conscious decision to do a complete overhaul of your lifestyle.
Did the vitamin supplement upset your stomach at all? I want to do a longer fast and want to make sure I take enough supplements but I’m afraid I might feel queasy taking vitamins. :)
Tony Phylactou you don’t have too because you didn’t live my life. I did salts in my water and I was very proud of myself. It takes a lot of willpower and hard work. I did it for 40 days because Jesus did. I been living this life style for awhile now and I personally love it. I had a really big cyst when I started and I am so proud to say my body dissolved it. Unbelievable healing powers with fasting, look into it and i would never ever go back to eating 3 meals a day ever again. God bless you on your Journey 😌
I fasted no food just water and plain tea with lemon for 46 days and just recently broke it. I lost almost 50 pounds and my body completely reset itself, regenerated and restored from the inside out. I’d suddenly started dealing with blood pressure issues and other health problems which the doctor prescribed me medication for that I absolutely refused to take so I prayed about it and God led me on what I thought was a 21 day fast of no food just water but it was actually a 46 day fast instead. My body completely changed as if it was repaired to new. I’m currently on zero medications and my blood pressure previously 180/99 is currently 117/80 with a normal pulse and no other issues in my body, completely healthy, PRAISE GOD! I also have a lot of energy and I definitely sleep better now and longer. Once I broke it I had to start off eating very light because my stomach could only handle a very small portion of food. Of course I thought eating vegetables were ok but, NOT. I thought I was going to die after I ate little of them so I started throwing up nonstop which was the worst feeling and my stomach was turning flips amongst other things which I won’t mention and I almost passed out. FYI, after a long period of fasting a little bone broth would probably be better once it’s broken. Since breaking my fast about 2 weeks now I’ve only been eating one meal a day drinking just water with lemon and eating no junk foods, fast foods nor sweets. I eat organic everything, lots of vegetables, I cook all of my meals now because I know what going in them. I buy only organic grass fed meat which I still don’t eat a lot of (meat that is) My whole lifestyle of eating has completely changed without the slightest cravings for any of the mess I was addicted to eating before. I don’t even miss it. Fasting is definitely one of the greatest benefits to having a healthier body. Denying your body the thing it craves most is actually giving your body what it need most and that’s no food for an extended period of time. Be blessed on your journey to becoming a better and healthier you through fasting.

Hi guys, quick update. I did it! I completed the fast on April 3rd at 3pm and I couldn't be more proud of myself for the achievement. During the fast I consumed absolutely nothing but bottled water. No supplements, no tea, no coffee. Nothing. I can't say if I'd recommend people do that as the prolonged experience of zero electrolytes is unpleasant as best. Ultimately I lost exactly 53.7lbs, down from almost exactly 400 lbs and I feel fantastic. I've been on a little break so I can enjoy some of my favorite foods (in moderation of course) so starting Monday I'll go back to 1 meal a week for the rest of April untill I do another 30 in May.

I'm on day 1 of my 21-day fast. I recently had these small bumps coming over my body after my period for the past 4 months. @@sofahitam_id2412 All people die, of course. But the way a lot of people go down is tough, painful, freedom limiting. And the reason for a lot of that is their body has a lifetime of junk in it and the internal garbage man ( autophagy ) works less and less, allowing things to pile up. Fasting clears out the toxins, bad cells, defunct pieces on a subcellular level ahead of time so that when the garbage man stops working, your issues won't pile up nearly as fast. Guys -- if you do a long fast remember to eat very little the day after you end it. Eat almost nothing And scale it up slowly or you will end up in hospital. This is very important.
Thank you. No one's talking about this very important point. I heard if a pastor's wife who died after a 40 day fast from eating a big meal immediately after the fast ended...
I fasted 21 days and coming off the fast could barely eat before being very full. Also, goes very, very fast through the system for at least a week. It is hard to see how anyone could end up eating too much after a long fast.
This isn't true. If our ancestors went hungry for weeks and then suddenly managed to get food are you telling me that they thought 'oh I had better eat this food slowly over many days otherwise I might die'. No, they would eat as much as they could until they were stuffed and before it rotted or something else ate it first. I never believed it was dangerous to eat normally after a fast so I tried it myself after a 2 week water fast. I ate as much of whatever I was craving until I was stuffed and it the most delicious thing ever. The worst thing that happened was that I urgently needed a massive crap an hour later. Interestingly I couldn't eat anywhere near as much as I had intended to either because my stomach had shrunk.
@@SIBUK Ahh.. an armchair expert. Our ancestors did not "go hungry for weeks". But if you don't believe me, try it out yourself. Write from hospital telling us I was correct. Hope you live to tell us.
VERY MUCH SO!!!!!!!! BEEN THERE, DONE THAT! WAS FORCED TO EAT 3X A DAY, and it ALMOST KILLED ME! I BLEW UP, GOT ALL INFLSMED, AND FELT I WAS GOING TO BURST! It was the WORST CONSTIPATION EVER! A very stupid spiritual father al.ost killed me with that, and I badically just ate soup to obey him! But it was just WAY TOO MUCH AFTER A 6 WEEK FAST (WEEKDAYS)! GOOD ADVICE. OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE! xo~A
@Tafari I And the non religious people you refer to fasted because fasting tradition has been passed on by religions, as has much that has benefited modern mankind. It's sad that many people today have little insight into the heritage of civilization and the central role religion played in that. As for the flesh being the same, you don't know what you are talking about. Moses and Jesus fasted completely from water and food for 40 days and nights. If you think that is achievable by others, go and try. But write a will first.
@Tafari I Where's your evidence non religious people existed throughout history? You won't find any, because non religious communities did not thrive, nor learn languages and writing and making of books. Why do you think Homosapien Neanderthals buried their dead 75,000 years ago? Why do you think Australian Aboriginals cremated their dead 40,000 years ago? Why do you think later Neanderthals were buried with utilitarian relics? Why do you think the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge were built? Without exception, every significant enduring community of humans had religious beliefs and customs. American Indians, Indian Indians, Indonesians, Tribes in the Amazon, early Koreans.....wherever you go, enduring communities have believed in supernatural God or Gods, and have passed on their cultural wisdom through religious ceremony and custom....which includes fasting. It is testament to the subversive influence of atheistic forces today, that people such as yourself are so patently ignorant about history. You must be very young, and very naive. Show me your evidence anyone on the internet, who says they fasted from all food and fluid for 40 days, is telling the truth. Go tell your doctor you intend to do this, and I bet he gets you certified mentally ill.
The part starting at 33:00 is definitely resonating to me. I was fat and tired, which made little sense because we always think of food as energy. How can someone be full of energy and yet still be tired? I was eating out all the time - not always fast food, but definitely wasn't healthy food. One day, I was tired of being fat because I couldn't fit into my normal clothes anymore (during covid). I started eating healthy, but realized how much I didn't like vegetables because my parents never made me eat it. After the first few days, I stopped eating as often because I started to only eat when I was hungry. With natural foods, I found myself pushing each meal back as my body no longer worked around being hungry during meal times. Now I'm eating once a day, without having to count calories without heavy hunger signals. My blood pressure has since then hit normal, which I've had BP issues ever since 15 years ago. I sleep better, I no longer get hangry, and so far I'm 30 lbs down (I started at 235) in 6 weeks and feel healthier than ever. Once your body shifts over to enjoying whole/normal foods again, it will be so so so much better. It's an investment.
I water fasted 93 and 96 hours back to back with a 4 hour eating window, after the 96 Hours I was not hungry at all or craving anything it’s amazing once you stop eating and reset your body, it literally stops craving food. I lost 19 pounds in 10 days while walking as well but it’s amazing to see.
Congrats. I'm doing the same as you. Rolling 96 hour fasts with a 4 hour refeed window. Much easier than a 40 day fast. In fact, I just don't see the point of a 40 day fast tbh. 96 hours is plenty
@@lambdragon the longer the fast, the slower you want to introduce food back. Dr.Mindy Peltz here on RUclips is really get it in details. Broth is what you start with, then some fermented food like sauerkraut. Try not to eat sugars as you will be really hungry. Make a plan for meals to break the fast - it’s the hardest part of the fast. Hunger ends pretty quickly but after you break the fast - it feels like you’ve never ate....lol
@@irinab7524 thanks for replying me, mid of jan i am trying fast, the longest i can stand is 5day, too hungry and no energy, when i am start eating my first meal i am like gulfing anything on meal table, that experience giv i am not ready yet for the long fasting, now i fast evert 3 day, on day 4 i start mid afternoon wirh fresh cranberry juice mix with vege juice, after 2 hour i start with boiled sweet potato, , then dinner i eat whatever i want, not sure it correct or not
This video reinforces what I’ve found from fasting (+praying) and reintroducing healthy, plant based foods into your temple. I’ve struggled over the years with remaining consistent with this lifestyle but not only does your body thank you but your mind and spirit are lifted to a state that I can only explain as being God-like. This popping up on my feed is a blessing and a gentle reminder from the Most High that I must persist to resist the negative and submit to what I believe is the true meaning of life, and life abundantly!
I’m an Inuit woman who’s parents died from alcoholism. It was an easy choice to not drink. I know that being an orphan triggered my fear of starvation. It’s a daily decision to eat my ancestors diet: fish, fat and whole real food. My reward in life: holding my grandchildren and teaching them how to feel JOY 💗 Life is wonderful!
It's a cheat sistem humans have, we fill our body with dopamine so our lives seems better when in fact it isn't, the best thing we can do to get a better life is making it better on a daily basis, numbing ourselves with bad food and habits is not the way to create a better life... most people will never live withouy their addiction because being sober on life is actually difficult. But being drunk in a housefire is a thousand times worse.
Matthew 6:16-18 16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
I admire your will power Raquel, I can barely make it 20 hours on a fast. I could probably learn a thing or two from you. I noticed you said you did a water fast, and that may be where I went wrong, because I wasn't drinking water. Does filling up with water suppress the hunger ?
Love listening to his speed of delivery. I was raised mostly plant based by a nurse, and I'm 74. She was ahead of her time. Great stories in comments. I really enjoy fasting, and I have convinced a couple to do it. Intermittent fasting is really helping people to understand how important fasting is. Strange how long it took to change the viewpoint. Great content. Thanks Rich.
The spiritual benefits of fasting will lift you up like a hurricane! Once your mindset is right, nothing will stop your willpower to fast for as long and as often as you want. DO IT! 🌱🤍
I’m in fasting right now and today is my 23rd day. Not gonna lie, breaking my fasting comes to my mind a dozen times now cause there a times that i crave so much about certain foods. Now watching this video puts me back and adds encouragement to reach that 40days goal. And by the way, i already lost 10kgs.
You were sugar dependent when you started. Sugar comes from refined sugar products and carbs. Better plan .. Break sugar dependence but doing smaller fasts and working up.
@@Kitiwake Yes, that’s what my doctor told me, and warned me that in less than a year i will be diabetic if i will not change my eating habit. And surprisingly enough, when I told her that I’m planning to do 40 days fasting, she said that it’s better than any prescription she could give.
I’m officially 4 days into my fast. I thought that this would be the toughest task of my life, but it has been the complete opposite. My craving for food went out of the window after the second day. I thought that I would experience weakness, but I’ve actually gained strength that I didn’t know I possessed. I’ve also lost 9 pounds! This experience has been nothing short of amazing!
@Clark Kent thank you. I had to stay busy. Sleeping was also the next best thing. You’ve got this! I’d also be interested in an update about your experience
@Clark Kent I totally understand what you’re saying because I stopped cold turkey as well. I’ve only hit a j twice in 5 years. I also never smoked anything other than that. There are people who are still in awe that I quit the way that I did. They always ask how and why. I didn’t even crave it for about 3 years. It was so strange to me because I also went through 3-4 grams per day. The past two years is when the cravings came back, and that’s when the two hits came into play. It was all a mental thing for me. I trained myself to think different which led to me being different. I also believe in you because I can tell that you really want change from what you’re saying. Practice consistency, and things will change. You can also reach out to me on IG if you have one.
The first two days are usually horrible. After that, you generally lose the desire for food. If you can get through the first couple of days, you start to feel energetic even after many days. You'll probably have periods of tiredness or lightheadedness but those usually clear up if you lie down a while.
I’ve tried to influence my elderly, obese mother the past few years to eat more wfpb, she’s definitely not there, but has eaten much better and her last dr visit (luckily I went with her) she had lost like 20# over about 6 months and she even told him she had been eating better and feeling better and walking some...he tells her that she has lost too weight and he was worried she may have cancer!! I was pissed. I said “she just told you she was eating better, feeling better and walking some” he looked at me and said that wouldn’t make her lose 20# in just 6 months and he had the nurse give her orders for testing for various cancers!! And also tried to sell her some whey protein shakes and told her she needed more milk for her bones! 🤷♀️🤦♀️Most doctors are ridiculous
@@josieb1991 good luck to you as well!! I’ve been prepping to go the full 30 days by intermittent fasting and cutting down to soft foods like jello! Hopefully that helps... the first three days are the hardest and the rest is a breeze!
I did a 33 day fast and believe me it's more of a spiritual ordeal. Your senses become heightened as if you were taking an hallucigen. I have respect for those who say they've done 90 days because I can't imagine how deep that must feel.
@@johntitorii6676 I found the return back to food unexpected. Foolishly I tried soup which felt like it burnt my insides so I quickly stopped. You can feel the journey food takes throughout you so I'd recommend going juice, smoothie and fruit route upon returning.
Of course it feels that way. That's why people do it for spiritual experiences. Some will think it's God talking to them when it's just their own brains.
The radiance on Alan’s face is so inspiring. He looks like a man who has climbed up and over the hill, seen the flourishing valley awaiting our people and has run back down to share the good news.
I did a 30 day fast, drinking water only if I got bored or thirsty. Everyone was scared to death for me. If i ever did a long fast again it would be at True North. It was so lonely being in my room all that time because if i left my room everyone would beg me to stop. The biggest thing I learned is that I was eating a lot out of boredom.
Gonna fast every week 36 hours-7 days this autumn until Christmas. Gonna watch this once every fasting day to stay on the right path. Have an autoimmune disease to cure and at least 15 kg of fat to use up, and probably lots of stored chemicals in there. A true health mission. Gonna reach a stable strong, light body and then uphold it until my last days.
⛵may I ask which autoimmune problem is yours .. mine is psoriasis.. I wonder if and how long it would take to reverse/cure it with fasting .. have a blessed day⛵

Fasting and praying are the only way I’ve been able to get rid of certain personality traits and bad habits. With god everything is possible. Thank you Yeshua.
@Lindsay Colon There actually is one study that shows an effect of praying for people in hospital. If those people are unaware they are being prayed for the effect is zero. If they are aware the effect is negative (this must be serious psychological effect)
Why would anyone require a crutch in order to live a healthy lifestyle. No god will help you get over your unhealthy lifestyle, basically bc god doesn’t exist.
I fasted for 30 days a couple times. How he describes what you go through mentally is spot on. After the first 4 days, you feel full of energy and absolutely don’t care about food. Also, imagine not having to poop! That’s like the main benefit. You get Kim jong un powers
What were the benefits you got from having to go trough this process? Also why you said not having to poop is the most beneficial out of all the benefits?
I been helping people with water only fast for a long time and every single person poops especially doing as long as you claim ( 30 days that is ) your body eats all the garbage in your system and you do poop it out so it’s very odd that you didn’t . Most likely you didn’t drink enough water ?
Best I've done is a 10 day water only fast, I'm excited next time to go for 14, then 20, then 30 one day. But at Day 10, I felt like a million bucks and didn't want to stop fasting but my parents were freaking out that I hadn't eaten so I basically stopped for them. But having them watch me the whole time definitely changed their perspective on fasting and they worry less and less when they see that my anxiety goes down, depression goes down, energy goes up, mental clarity and health goes up, etc.
@@jamesclark6487 Oh yes, they did. My parents were surprised by my energy levels and how I felt and looked. In fact, when I finished the fast, they were telling all their friends about it.

A year after my recovery she told me I was right not to listen to her. She had read articles from her colleagues about the benefits of fasting.

I got 5mm of bursitis in my left shoulder so I get how much it sucks ..

I did 40 days and I lost 42 pounds and it’s been almost 2 years and I kept it off. I personally love fasting and I live my life by it 😊
How did you break your fast?
Only water for 40 days ?
I am sorry I don't believe you
Zee I used bone broth then started to reduce foods in slowly.
Thank you for sharing! I keep failing but I’m determined to keep fasting, praying, and getting in the Word

I intend to do another 30 day fast likely in May, this time with the addition of magnesium and potassium supps to experience the difference.

Interesting
Most addictions have spiritual roots.
That Alcoholic Anonymous is only help with that.
Dr. Robert Lustig is all over this! Amazing that Clapton had pinpointed it. I needed to hear it then experiment to know it. My first week off sugar and starch was the hardest thing I've ever done and cried many times. Then a rainbow came out, and everything was wonderful. Every time I think, "I'm strong enough now to enjoy the party and have cake," I have a tough week staying on track.
LOL. What pulp fiction.
- Pretty much everyone's first addiction is sugar, because of idiotic parents who know nothing about 1. raising kids 2. nutrition
Why do you think pop, fruit juice, and candy sell well?

- third was sex.
- fourth was cocaine.
- fifth was heroin.
Most people don't get addicted to any of 2 to 5. So that blows that theory out of the fasting water.

Pray for me y’all! This covid got me needing a miracle, a personal reset, I feel guided towards this! I’ll update comments if requested
Good luck!!
How are you?
Did you finish your fast? How Many days did you manage to do it?:)
I only got to 15. It’s not forty but I am still proud of myself and it was a good reset on bad food habits
15 days is no joke. That’s tremendous. Congrats
I recently completed a 7 day fast drinking only water. I just can’t believe how I feel now. It’s amazing. I found it very easy to start as I was already on a time restricted eating regime eating only one or 2 meals a day within a 5 hour window. I didn’t feel hungry at all within the 7 days. I felt I could have continued for more than 7 days. Day 5 and 6 of the fast I felt I needed more sleep. My on going back lower back pain from spinal surgery a year ago was causing me real trouble. However on day 8 I woke up with no back pain and fabulous skin texture. No bags under my eyes. Not sure what has happened inside but I feel absolutely wonderful. I am 69 years old this August and feel more like I am back in my twenties again. Gail

My father waterfasted twice in his life, first when he was like 18 for 25 days and then when he was 55 for 19 days, healthiest man ever, he never gets sick, rarely has a cold, a headache or anything like that and it's always in a good mood. The weigh loss is great but fasting does so much more for you.
did he die?
@@sofahitam_id2412 All people die, of course. But the way a lot of people go down is tough, painful, freedom limiting. And the reason for a lot of that is their body has a lifetime of junk in it and the internal garbage man ( autophagy ) works less and less, allowing things to pile up. Fasting clears out the toxins, bad cells, defunct pieces on a subcellular level ahead of time so that when the garbage man stops working, your issues won't pile up nearly as fast.
I am 55 and have a 1 yr old grandson. I hope that in 15 years I can still be physically active to be a part of his life. That is my goal.
Everyone die one day @@sofahitam_id2412

@Tafari I
And the non religious people you refer to fasted because fasting tradition has been passed on by religions, as has much that has benefited modern mankind.
@Tafari I
Where's your evidence non religious people existed throughout history?
What time is your 1 meal?
@@traider8002 around noon to 1. Sometimes it's later just because the hunger signals simply aren't there.

Congrats. I'm doing the same as you. Rolling 96 hour fasts with a 4 hour refeed window. Much easier than a 40 day fast. In fact, I just don't see the point of a 40 day fast tbh. 96 hours is plenty

I drink 1 protein shake a day and drink water throughout the day. I dont recommend this diet if not forced too but i must note this--ive worked in construction my whole life which has caused some serious wear on my body, but miraculously my back and knee pain are gone completely. Other then my jaw still healing I honestly feel amazing. Who new a little fasting works wonders. Alot of disinformation out there...thank you for this very informative pod cast
I hope your jaw is healing well.
That's not fasting 😂
"The process of digestion is basically shoving something in one hole and waiting for it to come out the other" 🤣 Dr. Goldhamer is absolutely hilarious. His combination of dry wit, passion, experience, and knowledge made this an incredibly entertaining podcast!
agreed! they played off eachother well. this interview is my favorite dr goldhamer interview!
definatelyi agree! well said.

That’s pretty much accurate as it gets lol
I work with a lot of cables. Pointy bits jagged metal. And my fingers and hands get cut up every day. I found my hands healing really quickly during my fasting period. Pretty cool
We Vietnamese has a proverb: "Trouble from your mouth out, sickness from your mouth in".
Van Tam Ngo There is a Chinese proverb for that too! “病从口入,祸从口出”
That is brilliant! So true, lol!
I always say when someone has a bad attitude; They must need a colonic!
Love these quotes! So true!! ;-)
Wise words!
What does that mean?
I admire this man so much! Thank you for your passionate work to help people regain their control over their body. You are irreplaceable 🙏
Day 8 of my water fast! Down 20 pounds and my inflammation and pain are gone.
are you still doing it??
I can’t wait
20 pounds in 8 days? Wow
Well done!! How do you get passed the 1st 3 days?? I couldn't hold out any longer!
@@lachatnoir1127 I was at a place that served the no SOS diet (no salt, oil or sugar) so my cravings were easier to deal with, since their food just grossed me out after a couple of days. ;) I ended up doing 16 days total of water only.
Ive lost 112lbs so far in 7 months doing 5 day fasting. 5 days of nothing but water eat for 2 days, water fast for 5 days eat for 2. I dont care what anyone tells me i am not giving up meat. When i eat i usually eat grass fed beef, or salads and fruits. I started at 462lbs, and i am currently 350lbs. Shooting to be between 260-280lbs
As far as the diet goes avoiding bad foods like sugar and seed oils is the key to health. However you will ultimately be deficient and frail on a long term vegan diet though it is fine for short term.
@@LTPottenger Yeah I mainly stick to Whole Foods. Ali junk food wake here and there but I really don't even like the taste of it anymore. I'm a big wrap person so I eat a lot of wraps with grilled chicken and all my veggies. I use high fiber and protein wraps to limit processed carbs
If that is what you like to eat dont deprive yourself of it.
Your story is inspirational. Much admiration 👍👍👍👍👍
Great, well done! thats my diet plan 12:12 for the rest of my life to maintain WL, once I've reached my goal of 40-45kg, currently at 68kg. Im doing a 49 day water fast. 23-28kg to go🥳
I'm 150 kg down to 119kg so far I've been doing 1 meal a day and 3 day water fasts every few weeks . Just completed a 3 day dry fast yesterday. Loving life again
Can you please tell me what a dry fadt is.
The word is fast, thanks.
how long have been fasting.
@@barnesrobena7 not eating nor drinking! Nothing goes into the mouth
Impressive! The body needs water but the mind does more, things can go awry quickly. Personally not a dry fast fan.. maybe 24 hrs max if that way inclined.
Can a 21 day water fast help with stage 4 prostate cancer?
Absolutely I hope you did well ❤
This pops up as I’m half way into a 7 day water fast. Synchronicity Carl Jung would call it. Thanks Rich & Alan.
How do you feel in the meantime?
me too!
Today is my 4th day fasting. Longest I’ve done is 28 days, I lost a wopping 40 LBs.
@@petitfish6136 That's really impressive. I am two days in on my water fast, which I am combining with some cardio exercise. (Running) May I ask if you conducted any physical exercise during your fast?
Good luck to you
I'm currently on day 11 of this fast. I'm also still working full-time 50 hours a week. I also have an outside job so I am constantly in 100° heat and drinking about 5 liters of water a day
Jezus. That's some determination! Amazing that you're able to pull that off whilst still performing at your job. Hats off 🎩
Based on your username we can assume you are lying
Why aren't we screaming for adjustments to be made to the government suggested "food pyramid"?
Because of the pharmaceutical mafia
@@ChristineJonah88 Bigger than That...ITS Far easier to CONTROL..People when they are Chemically dumbed down and Sick / Un healthy
Vegans have been helping with that a lot. Food pyramid has slowly been changing over the years
If everyone ate healthier, supermarkets would fail, and junk food companies would freak. The government would (and is) preventing this. No change....
Because Cheetos taste goooooood
Day 1 of my 4 day fast, I am super excited to do this. Thank you Rich Roll and Dr. Alan Goldhamer!
My mom always told me, “Put shit in. Get shit out.” This was extremely informative. I’m switching back to a plant-based diet like I did 10 years ago. I was 50lbs. thinner, skin and hair looked better, and my overall attitude and mental state were so much better. I’m miserable now. I need to make this very necessary change sooner than later! 🙏🏽♥️👌🏽
You were also 10 years younger..
I don’t know why I stopped how I used to eat. I think I got caught up in sugar and processed food. Similar to you I’m getting back to where I used to to be.
@@jaishu123 good point for realistic expectations ❤️
