40 year old male, obese for 15 years. After a couple failed diets and exercise-heavy attempts to lose weight, I tried fasting. I’ve been doing two 36-hour fasts per week since March 2021.Mostly plant-based and time-restricted eating rest of each week (20:4). Parents and extended family thought I was crazy and would kill myself. Dropped from 235 to 170 lbs in 5 months, reversed pre-diabetes, normalized blood pressure, went from 38 waist to 30, and XXL shirts to M. I look and feel at least a decade younger, and now buy clothes because they look good and not because they’re just the only thing that fits. Went shirtless at the beach and pool for the first time since I was a teenager. Fasting completely changed and saved my life, and I will do this for as long as I live. Thank you, Drs. Jamnadas and Fung for sharing this ancient yet somehow controversial wisdom!
Update December 2021: now that I’ve hit my target weight range, I’ve been able to maintain my weight loss and energy by fasting just once a week for 36 hours. All other days I fast 16-20 hours on average, except on weekends when I eat breakfast. This feels very easy and sustainable now! My diet is mostly comprised of fat and protein (nuts, eggs, cheese, avocados, greens, fish, seafood). I generally avoid processed foods and stay away from sugar. Haven’t had rice, bread, potato for months, and I don’t miss them. Other foods in moderation such as beans, berries, bananas, corn, coconut. I exercise very moderately during the week - walks, bike rides, a swim or jog. But I consider exercise part of my cardiovascular health plan, not weight loss tool. It is all about the diet. Have faith my friends! The initial weight loss will challenge you, but I’ve learned that keeping the weight off is much easier than I expected, as long as you are willing to let go of some long-standing food habits. There are many keto-friendly foods available now which will help you develop a very satisfying diet for your future.

I went down from 150 to 119 lbs in 6- 9 months & sitting on 119 with ease..fasting and giving up junk and snacks! Now, I typically eat 2 healthy meals a day sometimes one! I generally fast 18 +hours M-F. I do occasionally 24 fasts. Also, I am 5 ft 3. Haven’t felt this good since I was in my 20s! This man needs to be protected and promoted 🎉

The weight has been dropping off very slowly but it’s how I like it to learn in the process and not repeat previous mistakes and to ensure I don’t end up with loose skin - so the weight is coming of slowly it’s been 20kgs so far…
That should be like 40+ pounds It’s been 3years now since I started trying learning executing what I learn practicing every day in whatsoever way possible
From eating small portions cutting off beef going easy on dairy my strongest addiction eating green veggie raw veggies steamed veggies cutting down carbs for a while fasting as much as possible it’s a daily thing I may fail but I have to put in some hours before I give up I stopped eating late at night that’s completely gone snacking is completely gone I have dropped off a big junk of bad habits - Iam slowly becoming good at it…and Iam seeing results now…
The first 2years rewarded me with nothing but I did not give up I kept going walking skipping meals choosing the right meals right combinations and in the third year magic started happening
My blazers which wouldn't fit me well I get to fit in with buttons on…
It’s been rewarding journey and a wonderful experience
Iam great full to all the wonderful Doctors I learnt from and all the wonderful people I got to meet through the peoples comments section for their testimonials Questions and answers their strategies and insights on the subjects those who made summaries from different video and lectures everything made a difference Iam so great full to each and every one of you nothing would be possible if it wasn’t for people like you…

At 50 years old I had a lot of joint pain it was overweight. I was actually probably overweight enough to be considered borderline obese. Ice started eating one meal a day. Throughout the day I would drink water and unsweetened tea as I cannot drink black Coffee. I’ve lost 30 pounds all the pain in my joints went away I had not felt better since I’ve been in my 20s. I met a man who said I could not eat one meal a day and survive. We got married and I am not kidding you the mental harassment is just too much for a person to endure. So I started eating more and about that time I started going through menopause. I am now 60 I am obese again and I’m still married to this guy. In the last 10 years I have never in my life argued with someone so much about what I eat or don’t eat. Today’s my first day of a three day fast and I kid you not he’s having a cow. I’m just so over it. But I don’t know if it’s my age but I feel so sick and things are starting to go wrong with my body. I know I have high blood pressure and stress really gets that going. And this husband stresses me so much. If I wasn’t a Christian I would’ve stayed married to him this long. God does not give him much leeway for divorce unfortunately. So we continue the battle of wills. I am an old is child and he is a baby that never had children. So often I feel like he treats me like a child. And intellectually He is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I graduated at 17 and Went to college. And during school he was in special ed. When God tells you to be equally yoked it’s not just in religion. If you marry someone that is not even close to as smart as you it’s gonna be very bad. My first husband was a firstborn child and he only had high school education but he was very smart. And we were married 30 years. We got along very good 15 years out of that 30. The first five years were tough getting used to each other. The last 10 were horrible because the doctor had given him Vicodin and he got addicted to it and the doctor just kept giving it to him for 10 years. And that’s what caused our divorce. The last year of our marriage I told him 12 months before divorce you need to get in rehab or a marriage is over. During that last 13 months he never got in rehab. Valentine’s Day he didn’t call me to tell me happy Valentines and he didn’t get me anything which was fine. But when he didn’t call me that was the last straw. And at this point he was staying at work for three days he come home take a shower sleep for two days get up go back to work for three days. So drugs and Dr.’s ruined our 30 year marriage. He had a very addictive personality

26 years old, Obese for majority of my life. Decided last year (May 2023) to get a personal trainer. Did the calorie restriction diet/lifestyle adjustment and lost 3st in one year but started to plateau. Came across a piece of short form content about Dr. J and extended fasting. I Did my research (Dorian Wilson’s YT channel) and did a 3 Day water fast.
I’ve lost a stone in the space of a week.
My energy levels are through the roof, 0 cravings for chocolate and sweets, I feel positive about everything and have a general sense of gratefulness for life.

      - 4 stones/25 kg/56 pounds in 1 year and 2 months is not too much. Fasting is the key for some things, but the DIET and exercises are the Real Key. Keep that in mind Sugar = Cancer/Death. I’m currently on day 15 of water only fasting, i feel great! My worse day was day 3 and after that i don’t feel hungry anymore. My skin is healthy, glowing and smooth, i lost about 20lbs already, my hair is beautiful, the hardest part is starting and once u feel how I’m feeling you won’t want to stop, I’m doing it for religious beliefs though, i fast and pray and see prayers being answered before my eyes.

Congratulations to you I can’t wait to also give my testimony. This is soooo hard. I’m on day 3 today😭 Yesterday was worse though I felt so tired and irritable and all I wanted to do was EAT. My brain was literally BEGGING for Starbucks, Tim Hortons and McDonald’s. But somehow I managed to say no. Today I went to a spa because I needed a distraction so I thought if I do something nice for myself I’ll feel better, and I kinda do. I have a food addiction and it’s ruining my life but no one knows because my weight is ‘normal’ but I’m hiding a shameful secret from everyone. I’m trying to fix it because I have the behaviours of a drug addict now and it took me a while to realise but if I don’t change I will mess up all my relationships and potentially lose my job. I maintained by eating more greens, limiting my carbs, and fasting 24 hours once a week. In Feb of 2018 I found out I was pregnant. A year later, my old friend told me how her doctor told her she could never get pregnant after years of trying. I told her my story. As a last resort I was told by a doctor from Sri Lanka to fast so my bowels could slow down. I decided to stop going to the bathroom so the fissure would stop hurting and went to a water fast for 36 hours. After I was finished I had NO fissure pain. I eliminated sugar and bad food and starting eating much less. Well within 7 days the fissure was gone! When I told my surgeon he did a scan and said the fissure was 95% repaired. At cardiac rehab, they focused on low fat and exercise, but never addressed insulin resistance. Finally, in February 2023, I found Dr Jamnadas talking about the importance of Vit K2. I love his energy and enthusiasm for health. That led me to his information on fasting. Something in me switched. I started cutting out sugar and no more eating snacks and late into the evening. I lost 8 pounds the first month just doing that. My aches and pains started to disappear. Then I began intermittent fasting, eating only Whole Foods and cutting out carbs. In the second month, I lost another 12 lbs doing 18/4 , some 24 hr fasts and 36-3 hr fasts once a week. It is getting easier and I feel great. More energy, no pain in joints. Proud of myself. Our bodies are so resilient if we treat them with respect. Western doctors rarely do anything but push more pills, which normally then cause more side effects that require more meds. The gut brain connection is what has brought me to all these videos. They are now thinking upwards of 90% of our serotonin ( what ups our happiness) is made in the gut NOT the brain. So people have been taking pills for depression of "the brain" when really it was more than likely in their gut health

I always been in great physical shape but could not understand why my BP was always elevated. I don’t smoke, I eat pretty decent, I do drink but not everyday, and I drink a lot of water. Well, I began a 19:5 fast cycle one month ago, fasting until 12pm; usually breaking my fast, with oatmeal or salad, and I have my big meal around 5pm. In 3 weeks of doing this, I lost 10 lbs and my BP is now 120/75. Fasting has saved me from an early grave.

I'm also motivated mostly by knowing the mechanics of how what I do will have a certain outcome
One example for me was "Dark leafy greens". We are told it is good, but why and how, and how much? When I eat it, I don't notice anything, but I do notice how bad it tastes, so it's natural to think it's not worth it.
But once I understood, i stuck with it, and the bad taste is offset by the benefit I know I'm getting.
So this is the info about dark leafy greens: the darker the green the more chlorophyll, the photosynthesizing organelle. Choorphyl's central molecule is magnesium. And magnesium is good for us for very good reasons, which I actually forgot lol. I'll have to refresh. But that line of mechanisms really helps me stick to eating healthy, which isn't automatic for me by default.

Passing it on to family and friends is difficult. They tend to be very resistant to the idea at least this has been my experience. I've been doing ADF since 2017 with 72 hr fasts thrown in a few times a year and so far non of my family has started a fasting-focused lifestyle. They watched me lose 110 lbs effortlessly and when I told them I did it by eating every other day the response was "Oh, I could never do that."

    • @1GoldenBreeze
      @1GoldenBreeze 3 года назад +6

@Alice Kapolas Fasting is simply choosing not to eat. If you've never done it before and you are fearful start small and build up. It is fairly easy to start with 12hr fasts by not eating after dinner and skipping breakfast the next day you will be asleep for most of the fast. You can do that until it seems easy and then extend it by skipping breakfast and lunch which will give you a fast of about 16 hrs. Doing longer fasts is just a mind game for the most part. Hunger may come around the time you are used to eating but if you occupy your time with some activity or busy work it will pass and doesn't just get worse and worse. You might want to include some electrolytes for longer fasts if they are difficult, but something like a 3day fast can easily be done without electrolytes. For many people, if they make it through 2 - 3 days they are no longer hungry. If you want to track your fasts you can download a fasting tracker app.

Notice that countries that had low incidence of heart disease and diabetes such as many eastern Asian countries, now have these diseases since they are eating like Americans. I'm on day 1 of my 21-day fast. I recently had these small bumps coming over my body after my period for the past 4 months. At first, I thought it was a heat bump, but I started to discover the pattern. The heat bump comes after five days of my period. It won't go away for about two weeks, and it is very painful. I started to google and found it to be an autoimmune condition called HS. Luckily, my one is not so severe, but it leaves behind scars. So far, I have had it around my armpits and my buttocks. I was completely shattered when I read that it was uncurable. The same day, I found a video about fasting, and some of them posted that they had recovered from autoimmune disease by fasting. By day 7 I wanted to continue but I broke my fast on vegetable juice. Be careful though. If you were a sugar addict before the fast and you consume sugar afterwards, you will go on a sugar binge. So be very mindful of this. The hardest part of fasting is not the fast itself, but the re-feeding process. This was a wonderful excerpt on fasting and I enjoyed watching every minute of it. Thank you Dr. Jamnadas. 🙏🏾

Wonderful presentation. I use OMAD and have lengthier fasts from time to time. People are surprised to know I only eat six or seven meals per week, no processed foods no sugar, I keep carbohydrate down under ten or twenty grams per day. My calorie intake is low also and I train my body. I do not suffer colds or influenza. I'll be 60 in December 2021; I have no health issues and no requirement of medication.

All these years (I'm 63) I thought I was hurting my body by fasting. I liked the way it made me feel and look, so I ignored all the noise from others and continued with fasting. Food additives made me so sick (headaches and swelling) in my early twenties, that I stopped eating most processed foods. My mother raised me to listen to my body -- she was a true hippie! I have been slender my entire life. I have had no illness whatsoever. I'm also huge on sleep. I average 8-10 hours a night - always have. It feels good. Thank you for this invaluable information!

Minute 36 is life!!! A loved one had cancer and we did this protocol. He is regarded as a unique case in his oncology practice. The doctors could not believe the chemo was soooo effective and he has survived stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to the rectum. 2 years cancer free and thriving 🙏🏼

For years now, I have followed the simple practice of not-eating when not-hungry. It drives everyone in my family absolutely nuts, and I fight an uphill battle against the convention of "meal time" every single day, with almost everyone. The only thing going for me so far is ... compared to those around me ... I almost never fall sick. I am no doctor, but at some point in my life I decided to listen to my own body before anyone or anything else. Thank you, Dr. Pradip Jamnadas, for providing this talk. I am going to share this with every person I know!
