Shipper gives the broker the price, then the broker gives the carrier (dispatcher) the price. But the broker gets a cut commission of what the shipper gives. So in reality the dispatcher should know when prices are low.
From my personal experience and from talking to customers/shippers, brokers are charging them 3 times more then they would pay truckers/owner operators. Lots of low balling out there. Rates are dirty cheap, it doesn't make sence. $150, $250 and so on. It is not wort to move for that much, even if its short run. Especially in NYC, NJ, CT area. Fuel+tolls+time+traffic+stress+aggravation+ Wearhouses close early. To manage to make 2 pick ups and 2 drop offs a day in tri-state area is miracle. TQL is one of those who pay dirt cheap loads and they charge 3 times more.
No - brokers work very hard to get contracts from shippers. It is hard. They pay their dues. Dispatchers don't have to do all that. Carriers need to step up their game and know their worth. As a former carrier for over 11 years - I learned my worth. I did not move freight for less than the bar we set. That is it! Brokers need carriers and carrier need brokers. Shippers also need brokers. Brokers play an important part but they will not move freight for a price carriers are not willing to move it for. The beauty is that carriers have the ultimate power to change the rates. Carriers - DON'T UNDERESTIMATE YOUR VALUE!

@dgexpressllc7450 I disagree. A carrier can do what a broker does on a day to day basis. We can even hire or have a member of our family (i.e our wife) do all the brokering while never "needing" a broker. However a broker NEEDS a carrier unless they own a truck. Therefore a broker without a truck can't make any money if they don't have us to use.
@@geraldhenderson4365Brokers are needed but a 3rd party broker isn't. I can have in house brokerage or I can even broker my own loads. Large trucking companies doesn't use these 3rd party fools to take 25% - 70% of their funds

Let's see what you charge see if your the problem
You just talking too 😂
When the load does not move because of the price, does the broker lies to the shipper- saying something like: it was no drivers?
Driver shortage 😂😂
