I’m a new freight broker and although I’m not new to the industry it’s difficult trying to process so much and listening to what everyone’s opinion on starting your own business. I’m still trying to understand the rates and bidding on loads. Thank You for the information that you provide sir, its definitely needed.
@@brandonthefreightbroker I would like to know if you know any a freight broker that works with carriers or dispatching service I'm getting my own New Authority and need help I want to continue hauling drayage loads in Nashville_TN area but having trouble finding a good dispatch or someone that knows what they are doing....
Thank you Brandon so much as always. You are truly a Blessing to all that takes the time to listen to your knowledge. I have grown so much because of you. I will always be a subscriber to your channel.
So as an owner operator are you owed both rates cause my broker never paid for my fuel rarely do i ever get a tarp fee added to a rate then tql still owes me like 400$ in detintion time
@@brandonthefreightbroker I started a freight brokerage back in 2016 never really got anywhere with it because of fear, lack of information and all the cold calling that It required. I don't think the selfpace class i took gave me the best information for me really, however the company still technically active on paperwork and im consider going back to it. I also drive trucks for a living.
Okay why when a carrier book a load with a broker and if he ask for a fuel surcharge he will say that's in the rate when you can clearly see that the lane has been ran many times for other rates
@@brandonthefreightbroker yes a video on fuel sur charge would be great. How do you calculate the fuel surcharge? What is the significance of this with every load and how important is it?
Majority of time they want the line haul rate which is the bulk of the rate. With me having been a shipping manager the approx 5-10% difference was not a major factor when considering rates and quotes.
And thats why carriers are so pissed off at brokers. Brokers are only giving out line haul after thier percentage and keeping the fule sur charge and extra other stuff. This is why more carriers are dealing direct with shipper more often.
Brandon why do the freight brokers think the fuel surcharge is theirs to keep. The fuel surcharge was designed to offset the cost of fuel for the truckers. Shouldn't the brokers give that to us truckers?
Unless you have your own authority, you must mean the carrier/dispatch is taking the FSC from you and they’re not supposed to pocket that. It is your FSC. If they are taking that and quoting you the Linehaul rate as if it is an “ALL IN” rate without the FSC included… they are stealing from you.
Where does your profit margin come in to play with a Line-haul rate and an All-In-Rate? Not discussed in video.

Do you include your broker rate into the line haul?
Okay why when a carrier book a load with a broker and if he ask for a fuel surcharge he will say that's in the rate when you can clearly see that the lane has been ran many times for other rates
Do you charge that in reefer loads?
How much do you make off each load??

Brandon Scott on this example in this video how much would the broker keep ?
15%
Brandon might but some Brokers will put that load on the board for $700 and keep the fuel surcharge and accessories and say that's all we got in it
