Don't even stress about detention. Brokers will just lie to you about payment. I just keep a notebook of all the shady Brokers, and up my rate accordingly.
Definitely truth in everything you just said I am kind of going through that now LOL I'm still a new broker don't have a gyro to my belt yet and Lord knows they tried to pay the very minimal and yes my drivers always come first hopefully sooner or later it'll turn around I hope LOL
Once they have that staging area or bullpen OUTSIDE of their gates.....truck parking area OFF of their property.....that is the whole purpose for and reasoning behind that....part of the whole grand design....is to rightfully state to the broker....on their end.....that truck DID NOT enter their property until a certain time....did not arrive at their facility until such and such a time....whilest they had their security guards to hold the truck OUTSIDE the gates....NOT permitted to enter yet....even the truck was there AT that address. They only time stamp it IN and OUT times....after they have their security to allow the truck to enter within the boundary of the receivers company property.
What should one do if broker don't pay for detention or TONU even though it's signed in the agreement for no reason, also some shippers that refuse to timestamps saying thir company policy forbids it?
Truckers should avoid Receivers in north Cal 1. Safeway Tracy 2. C&S Stockton 3. pepsi Tracy and Brokers like Uber freight they keep more than 50% profit in their loads which is ethically wrong because they are making carriers work at cheaper rates.
It is almost always included in the agreement. I think the main issue is between the Broker and the Shipper here. The Broker needs to make the Shipper aware in advance of the potential detention issue. The Carrier almost always included detention rates in the quote to the Broker.
Great content... I have just opened my brokerage Forward Logistic Solutions,LLC located in Baton Rouge, LA... in the future would you speak about fuel surcharge and when cold calling shippers who the right person to talk to. There are a lot of gatekeepers who don't know how to answer the questions that can get you to the loads. 😃 🙏
Hey Brandon..I have this issue..I got a layover and had to offload the next day..now the broker wants to pay $150 and I have a problem with that..how can I get whats due to me
That Carrier may be trying to get a driver home and that’s his only option. So in that case they may take the load cheaper if nothing else is going that way
This is what I tell drivers all the time that yell "Don't take cheap freight." Someone is always trying to get home. It's better to take cheap freight and at least cover fuel rather than deadhead.
Hey Brandon what happens when a broker gets the lane but it pays too low that load sits on load board? Does shipper go with a different broker? How long does it stay on load board before given to another broker? And is this even how it's done?
Most shippers don't dedicate all business to one broker. I use 2 to 3 brokers, and I look for how quick the broker will lock in the load for me, along who gives me the better rate. Shippers are in the same position as carriers, keep business moving.
What is the carrier's responsibility when a broker requests tracking to prove arrival and departure times, which is followed by the carrier, and the broker then wants written documentation from the shipper/receiver, which shipper/receiver REFUSES to give?
Hey@@ckthetrucker8255 What do you mean refuses to give? Shippers always sign the BOL and POD. Either write down the times of delivery or ask the shipper to write it and sign.
How to be sure a broker has a policy when other carriers can be called? I have experienced many loads where detention hasn't been paid. On another note, you speak as if you have driven before and trying to make things fair in this industry as my sentiments. Thanks
Great information, Brandon! We appreciate all you do to help us out!

9:11 I believe you’re mistaken with the definition. Brokers don’t pay shippers rates. It’s the other way around.
thanks for pointing that out...I could have said that better...I'm referencing the price a broker offers the shipper to move the load....

Thanks for the list, but I plan to avoid California completely unless the money's right.

So should the "detention policy" be included in the original agreement that the carrier signs with the broker? Does this make sense?
It is almost always included in the agreement. I think the main issue is between the Broker and the Shipper here. The Broker needs to make the Shipper aware in advance of the potential detention issue. The Carrier almost always included detention rates in the quote to the Broker.
Can a carrier be compensated when they arrive to shipper and can’t be loaded due to a fault on the broker? If so, what is this called?
Been fruck driver 25 yrs some shippers just will not pay detention
Can you please make a video that explains how to bid on lanes, how do we learn to bid fair rates?

Either counter offer or avoid that broker in the future and warn others.

I REALLY REALLY WISH U WOULD PREECH DETENTION TO NEW BROKERS ITS GETTING SAD OUT HERE.
How much should be ditention each hour
detention pay is based on the Shipper's accessorial policy...
Do you have these policies on your online class
