  • Even in the fall month of November, I am trying to cope with being in the warmer climate of Louisiana. Case in point, my listening habits during this season usually start to trend in the direction of doom and black metal but I am still hung up on stoner and desert rock, a genre I typically find myself enjoy during the spring and early summer months. Crack open a summer Kolsch with me and help me deal with these 80 degree days by diving into what the modern stoner/desert rock scene has to offer. I feel like this genre has been undergoing a resurgence over the past couple years, so lets dive into a couple of the bands and labels that are leading the march to the riff filled land!
As usual, I don't own any of the music used in this video and implore everyone to check out the bands and labels below:

Awesome hightlight man!!!! I remember that one year visiting my mom in Florida in november… was not used to wearing t-shirts and shorts that particular season.... I know what you mean. Fitting pickups man and all awesome... that new REZN Solace album I have listed on my top 10 of AOTY 2023, still need to pickup that split. Lousiana is a hotbed for this kind of music. The funny/dreadful side of me would have made this thumbnail concept of you as Dorothy with the Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow in Lousiana titled… "We're not North Carolina anymore" haha.

Thanks Rick! I don't have your dreadful talents to be able to pull off that thumbnail, but that's definitely been an accurate representation of how I have been feeling in this state lol. It's definitely been a lot of stoner, sludge, power violence, and grind to fit this weather lol. I definitely still need to get back to that new REZN album, I haven't cracked it yet. Thanks for watching oh dreadful one!

2 of the Kadabra dudes are good friends of mine, we all used to work together. Very good people. Where did you see them live?

Damn that's cool Eli! Where did you all work together? I saw them in New Orleans at Santos back in September when they were opening for Bongzilla. They killed it, perfect dynamics and energy for their set! Thanks for watching man 🍻

@@metalandbeersnob We worked for a local coffee roasting company. Ian, the bass player still works there but me and Chase, the drummer moved on to other stuff. I still miss being around my buddies all day and being able to wear whatever I wanted to work, but life goes on. I haven't heard the new album yet but that single that the label put out smokes!
