  • It's time to start discussing metal classics from the Tens (2010-2019). It's hard to believe that this decade is already 4 years in the rearview and that we as metalheads can start pondering what albums will be revered as future metal classics in the years to come. In my eyes, the metal zeitgeist is always good at coming together to hold certain albums as classics for each decade. This video is my way of wondering aloud which albums the metal scene as a whole will champion. The slant for this video, is that all of these albums are releases that I see as perfect 10/10 masterpieces that I hope the metal sphere will also revere. I know I will do my part in championing these releases and ensuring that these albums are not lost to the sands of time.
What are the albums from the 2010's that you think are masterpieces and will be discussed as classics in the future? I am definitely curious as to what albums everyone loves and hopes will be considered classic in the years to come!
I, of course, don't own any of the music here and I encourage everyone to check out these killer albums.

Exercises are fantastic. The drum patterns are fucking awesome. Lewandowski's artwork are amazing. That Bell Witch cover is one of my favorites. Great video Logan. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Great video and really thought provoking topic Logan. I still need to check out Mariner but completely agree with the rest of your choices. You can expect a response video from me in the near future. 🍻🤘

If you're a fan of any style of post metal or just emotive and thematic music I can't recommend Mariner enough! And fuck yeah dude, I'd be really interested in seeing your picks and thoughts on this topic as I think we approached Metal music at similar time periods. Thanks for watching and commenting Jake 🍻

Like your picks and will see what the history verdict will be but I think the "classics" from 2010s will be "lower tier" just because I think it was a decade spent in rehashing the old sounds and metal subgenres - doubt any album will have the impact of the early classics of the likes BlackSabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica among many others

I don't disagree with the fact that the 2010's won't have the same impact as the earlier decades of the genre. Metal was huge in the 80s and even pretty big in the 90s before it truly started to fracture and melt into dozens of subgenres by the turn of the century. Now two people can be diehard fans of "metal" but really be talking about different styles of music. I just hope these albums will spawn some sort of legacy and following that will last many years 🤷‍♂. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

Which leprous album? I've only listened to The Congregation and that one hasn't fully clicked with me. Appreciate the fellow Cult of Luna love. Vertikal and Dawn to Fear could have easily been in this conversation too. Thanks for watching!
