If your truck has got mileage you should budget for ball joints and control arm bushings. It will save you from doing the job twice. Excellent video.
i dont own a truck and doubt i ever will , but this video was gripping and insightful from start to finish !
Badass video and good quality especially for a 2012 video 💯 very well explained 👍🏼
Hey AndysAutoSportTV!!! This is my buddy jarred's truck he treid getting ahold of you actually let you know where the truck is.. And its currently in Central IL getting greatly taken care by a highschooler he loves the truck!
Awesome, great to hear!
I don't usual leave comments but I'm from the UK and over here there isn't much info on any American imported vehicles but the guys at Andys Auto Sport have helped me out a lot from watching their videos!
Great lesson! Helps me to learn more about the process. Questions about my own project will come soon guys!
Awesome video. I have been contemplating a flip kit for my 02 F-150 Harley Edition SuperCrew. Thanks to this video i feel confident in being able to move ahead with it this spring. Thanks Again!!!

they forgot to mention that you need to remove the tow hitch, but other then that very helpful. already installed my 2 in drop shackles, later on I'm gonna swap leaf springs to give it another 2 in, and then spindles. thanks for the video.

one of the best video ever how to explain to drop a truck...perfect!
BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN ON HOW TO LOWER TRUCKS....SPECIALLY CHEVY. Great job
Very detailed video. That's the correct way to lower a truck. I'm really impressed
When I'm getting a pickup, I'm bringing it to you. 'Cept I don't want the notch kit. Anything that doesn't require drilling or cutting. Just moderate lowering is good enough for me :) Great video!
Awesome video! Great tips, lots of info. Gonna order up some parts to do this on my 97 1500.
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I've been wanting to get a C/K1500 2wd and lower it for awhile now, I have done a lot of suspension work already but this filled in the blanks on truck lowering.. My granddad had a 1989 1500 that was lowered about 3-4 with a 383 stroker with a Holley 750CFM double pumper, and custom exhaust from the motor back, AMAZING TRUCK and I miss it so much... Its about time to build my own.
Good video, I would say the best video on how to install a flip kit.
Great video man you had me engaged all the way through
On the front, strip everything out of your way and loosen the ball joint nuts just a few turns with the spring still applying pressure and rap the steering knuckle hard with a hammer and usually they will break loose without having to use a pickle fork and messing up your ball joint boots. Then use the spring compressor.
Thanks for showing us really good and good lights
Very good video! I am about to do this to my truck and this helped a lot!
best video on the topic
Thanks for the great quality video.Keep up the good work
This video answers a lot of questions. Thanks a lot
Nice video. Basically a tutorial, you made all that work look easy. 👍 Now I only need the cash and the time to do this by myself to my Silverado lol.
Great video. Thank you so much Beautiful truck love it
Awesomeness overload

Best video I’ve seen on this process!! Nice job
Great detailed video
Thank you for the advice, I was on your website and I couldn't find the flip kit for my 77 c10. I'm looking to get lowering coils and drop spindles too.
Great editing! LoL Good video, thanks.
Awesome video bro
Awesome video !
Gotta love a loose pocket! Jk! The only thing, I didn't like is cutting the bed.I would rather grind the"Sandwiches" flush with the top off the rail.Seem like the c-notch should be boxed on the inside with maybe that Sandwich plate.O well great job! I love full size short beds!
big help thanks..
good job and very helpful video.
That truck looks good at the end. If it was mine, I'd do a roll pan out back, tint the windows, body color grille with the quad lamp setup and use smoked lights with an HID kit, get rid of the chrome bumper up front and go with a painted bumper and paint it to match, then paint the door handles to match. I see you did mirrors in another episode, I'd paint them to match too. Then take out the factory bench and put in buckets and make a console and a sub box. Oh yeah, and a cowl hood.
Buen trabajo compa. Saludos de mexico. Good job amigo.
Great video thanks 👍👍
From living in the northern part of the county, all I kept thinking through this video was...damn, that's a non-rusty truck lol
Generally, the rear will be the same, but the front suspension is usually different and can't be lowered as much as a two wheel drive truck. Thanks for watching.
Best video I ever seen!
Wow very nice
Thanks for explain good video
Great video now I need a truck
Questions:
1. Did you not grease the new bushings and spindle when you installed them?
2. Does the castle nut on the spindle only have a hand tight torque?
3. What are the typical torque specs for suspension components?
P.S. I would of cleaned and freshly coated the frame to match your new shiny suspension components to make a super clean look as well.
Great video. Thanks!
really good vid! thanks
Good video thanks.
Well explained
Just watched ur video.step by step instruction Nice. I have a 63 gmc short box step side with a 1972 front end with a 2-1/2 drop spindle on air bags and can't get the bottom of the a frame from hitting the ground. olso have a1983 posi rear on air. the truck rides very rough. Have I missed something in my project or is this just the nature of the beast. I am willing to lose the bags and go back to coils and coil overs if I can get a better ride and keep it low. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe u could do an older truck next Tks.
u r the best
Is it absolutely necessary to remove the bed when installing a drop? That seems like the worst part of it.
Always clean and pack wheel bearings, new grease seals, silicone around grease cup seal.
Amazing job explaining it all especially the c notch for the rearend
What rims are on the truck they are really nice please let me know ...thanks for the video you were very well at explaining everything
American Racing Nova. Thanks for watching!
so this is what Walter White did after leaving New Mexico
Thanks alot
Can't wait to lower my '06 SR5 DC Tundra.
S10 shocks out back would have did the trick for the that inch drop and wouldn't need the shock extender . But man this helped alot with the flip kit review
BEST VIDEO
your videos are awesome man, I don't even have any use for half the information you give but I still watch every single video just to get some knowledge! thanks (-:
thats the first time i seen shacles come off effortlessly
Hi there, I've never lowered a truck before. I'm really a rookie in all this. Okay so I have a 77 c10 that I'm lowering , do I use a flip kit or lowering blocks? my axle is sitting under the leaf springs.
Great video it actually motivated me to lower my truck 4 inches in the back and I used the 2 inch lowering spring leaf hanger and the 2 inch lowering shackles and I love the way it came out but on the passenger side the rear shock extender made it uneven so I removed it and now it's 1 quarter off and inch off do you why is that? And I would love to know is there's a way I can fix it thank you
Even though this video is 8 year old it"s very informative !!!! Great video but one thing that they didn't address was that the rear leaf spring shackles are about 2 inches above the trucks frame so when putting the bed back on it will be 2 inches higher in the back of the bed than the front of the bed and this will eventually cause a hole to be worn through the floor of the bed.
Hey... Andy Motor Sport !
Make a video on how to lower any 88 to 99 K1500 or 4WD the proper way please.
With all the max drop specs and info.
This would help all the non - off road street rolling only 4x4 drivers outhere.
Thanks for this info. It helped me a lot in figuring what I want to do with my 1997 Chevy Suburban I just got. It will be an every day ride,....for now. What size wheel and tire are you running? Also will that brand spindle work with most big brake kits if I want to lower it first and do brake conversion later? I notice how some big brake kits come with their own spindle; is there a reason for that?
I'm expecting to see more time videos of the end result as a whole truck with wheels. Excellent video though from a novice perspective like me.
great video! even made notching seem much easier and doable...
Well done. Love the video, you might know what you're talking about. Now do a 2001 Silverado so I know what the hell I'm doing.
hello, i want to know if i have to use an alignment kit when lowering my truck as the video? thnk you
Very informative video, and would love to do this on one of my trucks a 1979 c10. But I'm afraid I'm just not mechanically inclined to take on such a job as you just preformed.
Very interesting video though, thank you.
Thanks for the compliment Rhoads! A lot of people wouldn't do the work themselves actually. Many of our customers, if not most, take it to a local shop to have them do the installation.
Great video! How smooth is the ride with all the options combined? Is that the best way to go?
Hi....great video so if I get a flip kit do I also have to do the C notch done
Usuallly, yes. I'm not 100% sure that that's the case for every truck, but usually the axle will end up right against the frame if you don't do a c-notch, so there wouldn't be any suspension travel out back without one. This is definitely true if we're talking about the '88-98 GM fullsize trucks.
I whould off hold that caliper with something like rope or bungy cord you can damage the break line
One more thing I would of replace the rie rod an boljoints you damage them in the process just saying if your going to do the job might as well doit right
What size of rams do you guys have on your truck in this video what is the front size and what is the back size with the backspacing are they boss
I'm too much of a perfectionist. I would have to high pressure wash all that dirty chassis stuff. Then spray detergent to all the places the pressure washer didn't clean and put a scotch bright to it just enough to rid the dirt but not enough to invite rust. The high pressure wash one more time.
Hi there,Iam thinking of lowering my truck,I have 2015 ram what brand of drop kit do you recommend, thinking of 2/4 drop.
Great video and very informative. I didn't see you use a pinion angle shim for the flip kit. How do you know if you need one? I have a 1984 C10 I want to eventually lower maybe a 3/4.
I wonder which used in this vide kit or if I could help I need for my 1998 Chevy pickup Silverado, Regular cab short bed, 5x8 wheels, I know what the kit I recommend to lower it 5/7.
Looking forward to your help.
Great tutorial, explanation and video on how to lower your truck. I'm doing my research to get my 89 GMC 2WD C1500 slammed for an aggressive stance. I've been thinkin about a 5" front and a 6" or 7" at the rear.
Any video on replacing lower control arms and springs?
If not, do I have to remove the spindle in order to replace the control arm? Thanks
After watching this iam Definitely gonna research where I take my truck for its 4/6 drop I wish you can do it I don't want just anybody cutting on my frame
Wonder what the truck looked like when it was done, never really showed truck.
very helpful, I would like to see it performed on a 71 c20
great video ! I'm looking to lower my 93 Chevy step side . how much would that cost for a shop to do?
Nice video guys, I had a quick question maybe you can help me out. I did a belltech flip kit on the rear of my 05 Ram Quad cab, truck rode great, but I needed to move and wanted to use my truck, well I was hoping to get stock height, or close to stock, when I removed the leaf flip, and shocks, I left on the shackle but now the truck rides higher than stock, any ideas?
my truck already has a 4 inch drop with shackles, would i have to go back to the stock shackles and do a flip kit for a 6" drop?
