Nice tip on the rounded corners. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Our pleasure!
Been a heavy truck mechanic for 50+ years. Was always told never use grease on rubber. When doing the heavy suspension we always used graphite or silicone . Great video. I have an 83 C10 in the process of hotrodding. I watch all your videos. I like them because you explain everything. Most just show how to do it with no narrative....Thanks again.
Our pleasure!
Simple thing like this, makes it easier for me, so useful… thanks!!
Thanks for watching!
well explained ,i love the movies I am restore my Chevy c30 from ´76 good help
greetings from Germany
keep it up
Thank you for watching!
This will work on the 67-72 trucks that come with the HD rear leaf spring option. Yes. Some of those model years DO come with rear leaf springs. My '68 is one of them. When I get home from work I can grab the option code from my glove box.
Check with our Customer Service guys, they'll have an answer for you on if we have a 67-72 Leaf version or not. 800-977-2767
Love the video
Nice work , thanks
No problem 👍
A nice easy way to lower your pickup! David, do you plan on showing us how to drop 2 more inches, for those of us who just have to go lower? Possibly relocate the front of the leaf springs?
There's a few ways to do it. We have a video already showing how to flip the axle to get a significant drop. We'll look into doing a video for the front shackle mount.
Droping it all at the back it all shifts the axel and it ark of travel forward. A shakle at both ends would keep the axel central and traveling straight up and down. If you are fitting a chassis notch before fitting expect the axel to be further forward on the notch gap after these are fitted.
I did this to my 73 SWB and the driver side is higher now. They were even when I started. The leaf springs no longer look the same. I have completely redone it several times and no change.
Thanks for the informative video as I prepare to lower my daughter's '78 Stepside we're working together on. Please clarify, around the 1:30 minute you say that the 52" leaf spring length won't require any cutting but the 56" might, then around the 5:40 minute you say that if this were a 52", notching would be required but since it's a 56" it's just clearing but you opted to notch anyways. So which is more likely to require cutting, 52" or 56" leaf springs? Mine has 56".
How many inches do the shackles lower the truck
Is the 56" spring an issue with stepside beds? Or is it the same for fleetside and stepside beds requiring notching with 56" springs?
will these parts work on the 3/4 or 1 ton trucks as well or are the springs different?
My mom already makes fun of me man.
hey David how important is it for that plate on the drop shackle to be facing the spring as you pointed it out and not facing the rear. I've mounted mine both with the plate facing rear not facing spring is that going to be a problem?
Are you still alive!!!?
I already did the axel flip kit with no c-notch, if I add these drop shackles will it require a c-notch?
Do u have a video for the front shackles leaf spring hang cuz I can’t find one
We don't have one at the moment.
Seems fairly straight forward. One question though. How much drop will you get if you do it with an axle flip. Or is that even possible.
you can expect 6-7" of drop when combined with a flip.
Cant seem to find the kit? Wanting to lower my 83 crewcab single rear

Question for you, I also changed the rear end on my square body along with my leaf springs. But should I have the weight on the rear before I tighten down all the leaf and shackles?
That would be better. but if you don't it will probably in a few miles of driving twist the bushes to line up anyway.
Sounds like you contradicted yourself with the spring location on the 52 and 56 clearing the brace under the bed
Does anybody know if this will only lower the rear of the truck or the whole truck?
Only the rear.
How much does it drop the truck?
Can you show us how to drop a 2 wheel drive K5 Blazer
What year Blazer?
1982 Gmc Jimmy 2 wheel drive
@@sergiodelvalle76 In that case, it's the same way you would drop a similar year C10. Coil Springs/Drop Spindles in the front, and Shackles or a Flip Kit in the rear.
Why does the shackle opening have to go towards the rear?
Good question? We don't really know the answer, maybe someone else will chime in here that does.
he states that the plate has to go towards the front , facing the spring. in this case o
the opening would be in the back of. truck. I mounted mine with the opening towards the spring and the plate towards the rear and after watching this video and I've been driving on it for 6 months I'm concerned that it needs to be switched around the way he did it in the video any input would be amazing I really don't want to redo it
Why in all these how to vids its always a 70s model or later? Just once I like to see an 87R10 worked on so I can do the same.
You do know all 73-87 are all the same design correct...
I agree the 87 is just slightly different all the way around lol. Most people don't believe that they think it's just a square body but it definitely slightly different
I have been putting them on wrong for years
How much deed it drop
This was a two inch shackle. We sell them in various drops.
If you miss it your moms gonna make fun of you man 😂
I wanna know how Dave knows my mom? 😳
You don't want to know...
