Hey Karl, Your friend Brenda impressed the hell out of me. She's a fast learner and not afraid to work or get her hands dirty. My kind of woman. Take care and be safe.
Friday night shop night sounds 10 times better than sitting in a bar. All the hands coming together for one person is a beautiful thing. That is a community worth striving for.
It's awesome you have friends willing to give their time to help out other friends to get stuff done. Everyone needs to have people like that in their lives.
friends helping friends, pretty legit my man! This was something that actually turned out for the better in regards to the breaks she didn't know needed attention, so turned out even better. Pretty awesome, Karl! thanks for sharing man! maybe you show a little rust repair on her front fender next? hope to see the next one!
@@MakeItKustom that's even better. You all seem like really good friends to each other. Are you going to make a video of replacing the fenders? I always enjoy the content you put on your channel. I noticed at the end of the video you were up in your shop lounge. You showed some of what you were doing up there but never really showed it. It looks like it turned out pretty cool!
Congratulations on your friendships and congratulations on your wife putting her hand in the dough and helping you, today and day there are few women like that!
Love the shop night videos. Absolutely nothing better than friends helping friends. Impressed with Brenda jumping in there to work and here willingness to learn. Great truck and wheels. Good to see it lowered. Great job and kudos to Brenda!
Kinda brought a tear to my eye. I just sold my red, 85 Gmc short-bed PU. My wheels were different and mine had AC (I live in Florida and its necessary.) I love to see young ladies work on their own vehicles. Keep it up, Brenda.
There was literally never a better timed video than this one. I am doing an axle flip, drop beams, and full brake system on my F100 right now. I mean like, I started it tonight. I pulled the rear end out of it 15 minutes before I sat down and watched this video. I like the shop night vids, good times.
miss those shop parties. Been years since we did them. Great video. I have a 78 C10 and every project takes wayyyy longer than expected. I had a 78 Big 10 and 80 Big 10s brand new, hard to believe they are going on 45 years old. Damn, makes me feel old. stumbled on your page a while back, really enjoy the old school metal work. Keep up the great work!
Hello folks, that was really nice welding on the new mounts, just like knitting. The truck looks great, As the young lady spoke, its worth the wait and sometime it never goes to plan, but hey! it looks good. Enjoy.
She sure did not mind helping and getting dirty. Brenda surprised everyone. That welding was a great set of dimes. And should hold up the rest of the life of this square body. Thank you for sharing
23min in, and 10pm, I had to stop watching and go down stairs and get more work done on my project. Thanks for inspiration to get rust and grease on my pajamas.
Looks like a good time was had by all, including the dogs. Lots of productivity going on with a fun bunch of freinds, it don't get no better than that! Nice brake job schoolin Karl. Thanks for sharing, Rock on Brother.
Very cool to see a bunch of friends get together and get it done. Brenda your truck looks very cool live the blazer seats and console.Definitely have to put more shop night content.
Just started watching and I see the under dash stereo picture on his phone. Man, Brings back a lot of memories. The Pioneer Supertuner was the one to have. This is the one you removed when the vehicle was sold.
Great job! I threw away the cone greaser a long time ago. There is a cup, set bearing in and press. Waay less mess.packed a lot of bearings in my past. Note, wash inside of rotor before intalling bearings/seals. I have come across a couple that had casting sand remains in them. Brake cleaner and a brush. Compressed air. Perfect time to refresh the brakes! Looks awesome with the new stance.
Great job, nice Lady. I've owned several of these types, got one right now, and will seriously consider a lowering job. That's the best I've seen one done to retain travel and ride comfort. That was a well planned, well coordinated job, I've never seen it done better. Thanks!
Nice! I love those old short wides! I had an 81 Chevy short wide. I bought it from a guy I worked for. It was pretty rough. I got it for 1200$. I just used it for a work truck. I loved how low the bed was. It was so easy to load stuff. It had drop shop spindles. Flipped rear end. No C notch. So it would bang the frame. If you loaded it too much. I had it for 11 years. The sold it for 1500$. I miss that truck. Now they are crazy expensive.
This is the car culture I love, everybody pitching in on everyone else's projects to make the visions come true. Love your channel, always have, just became a member.
it makes me happy and kinda sad watching Friday shop night vids. once all my friends and myself had kids all the buddies hanging working on stuff kinda just stopped. keep up the great content.
Way back in the 70's we used to heat up the grease on the kitchen (gas) cooker for lubing m/c chains and bearings by simply finding suitable sized trays/cut up tin cans, also still use that trick to melt old boot polish NB always have a metal cover to smother if vapor lights 😎
Lol . Since when has a quick shop night ever gone right . Always more than ya think even planning ahead ya still get caught . Great work from the guys and to see Brenda get stuck in as much as she did is awesome .. fast learner and a lass that don't mind getting her hands dirty a perfect woman . Truck looked a little out when she drove in but the wheels really suited the look after the drop , glad someone got Kristina on the other side of the camera for a change . Awesome 3 days of fun Karl thanks for sharing ..
NICE! Gotta love a Squarebody! I had two of them and miss 'em both. First one got stolen and destroyed, the second one I had to sell for tools. Hats off to Brenda for jumping right in there with the boys to get it done! Congrats!!! I dig the Detroit Steel wheels and the stance. You should be very proud of yourself Brenda, and the Truck. It sure wouldn't break my heart to work with this group of people on my Truck, I tell ya that for damn sure! Cheers y'all! Catch ya on the next one.
This would make a great monthly feature on the channel. Get a group together and knock out some updates or fixes to someone's car. Even better if they learn something in the process.
Awesome. Love the way you taught her how to do the bearings. She is very capable and a quick learner. The truck looks right. So cool thanks for sharing.
Reminds me of Langley where I grew up. Love the channel and your builds! Nice work. Just picked up a C10 Short bed to play with on my next project. cheers
Amazing how a basic mod( basic in theory) can completely change the look of a vehicle,. love the work that you do karl you have inspired me a lot, and given me the confidents to try things even if im not good at them. keep up the awesome work!!!!!!!
So cool that she's interested enough to be doing the work, and wanting to learn. The only thing more fun than doing, is teaching interested people (hands on style, of course)
Easy on the Millwright jokes lol ! That’s my trade ! Love this channel and it’s great to see someone getting much blessings from your group of friends. As always great stuff here Karl !
So funny to see you pack bearings that way, my dad had a fleet of 21 school buses and I can remember packing wheel bearings on school buses that same way, back in 1967 when I was about 9 years old. I guess the old way is really the best way. Great video love the show keep up the good content
I agree with Frank's Garage - it's a good idea to clean rotors prior to assembly. FYI - it's easier to put grease in to the hub from the back side & it does not cause any problems installing the rear bearing or the grease seal. However, I disagree with Karl's thought that you can not have too much grease. Acturally you can, I had a boat axle that I replaced a few years back & the hub was packed full because most of the RV/boat trailer axles use grease zerks to keep the bearings greased. But with the hub full of grease they may overheat. My customer was a trucker & used an infrared heat sensing gun to check his hub/tires & he came back claiming the new axle was overheating. We took all the grease out of the hub except for a thin film to revent rust & of course fully packed bearings, it fixed the overheating problem. Worst idea the axle manufactures ever came up with. Most users over grease using the zerks, which, in turn blows the rear seal & spews grease all over the brake pads/shoes. You are better off to do a normal bearing pack periodically - Dexter Manufacturing recommends every 12K miles & it gives you the added opportunity to inspect brakes & bearing while you are doing the bearing pack. May thanks to Karl for his channel. I have learned tons about sheet metal repairs.
Yeah the grease Zürics are no good because people pack some rightful and that creates friction but if you just put in Greece in my hand I do believe you can’t have too much
Awesome video but the best part of the truck is the front Felix Chevrolet licence plate frame!! Repping Los Angeles, CA in BC! Karl, keep up the great content..
Shop nights are a great get togethers with Mates. All you needed was a BBQ and or a smoker with some ribs and Beers and it would have been fully Awesome.
I think we all know too well that feeling when a one day job turns into three! It’s always worth taking the time to do it properly though and finally get that thing off the jack stands and see how tough it looks sitting nice and low. Hope Brenda is enjoying her ride.
Now you'll need to add the rear shock relocation brackets and then have her install the belltech rear sway bar. Since she is lowered she will need to swing by a local hardware store to purchase (2) 4 inch Grade8 bolts to replace the sway bars factory 8 inch bolts.
Watching you and your friends work on projects is always cool. I don't have a group of friends to pull together with like that, it's really cool. Dont get me wrong, I have a local buddy, but most of my lifelong friends who would come together to help each other live states away.
Looked like a lot of fun ! I thought you'd have made brackets and put disks in the rear end ! I remember a bunch of us getting together a weekend a month building all kinds of fun stuff. It's times like that that bonds groups of people together and helping one another ! It just doesn't get much better than that !
Why do all the places, I’ve saw you drive, have fenced in yards?? Wildlife, or what? Curious in Indiana. 👍🏼😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Shop night is awesome! Square bodies are cool 😎
I flipped my '78 in the back with no c-notch...I just couldnt do it..i felt like i was would be giving it a circumcision or something..if you take off the metal bump stop brackets, and put the little mushroom tip stop on it, it still has like an inch of travel
Awesome .. but was hoping for more explanation along the way ... maybe a brief description difference in drops .. and the unforseen issue on the front spindle and what the heavy half or whatever it was
Hey Karl, Your friend Brenda impressed the hell out of me. She's a fast learner and not afraid to work or get her hands dirty. My kind of woman. Take care and be safe.
She single? :)
Karl, You area a superior teacher, there should be more guys like you willing to share there
talent.
I got confused. Is Brenda the human, or the truck?
She’s the human
Haha she’s not single
I love how you all can just jump in there together. It's a big deal to get everyone together at the same time around here.
Friday night shop night sounds 10 times better than sitting in a bar. All the hands coming together for one person is a beautiful thing. That is a community worth striving for.
Good job, all! Brenda seems like a very deserving and genuinely nice person. Congrats!
10:23 Look at the master fabricator lay down perfect welds there! Very nice 😎
Ha ha that’s all I got to do all night

Now there’s some real friends right there. 👍🏻👍🏻
Very KOOL a Car Girl and a Nice 4-6 Drop And it definitely needed upgrade on the brakes well worth the three days good luck Brenda
I was listening then heard Rick Farmer’s voice! Unmistakable… And what do you know, there he is working on a Chevy. 😆
Watching y'all pack wheel bearings by hand brings back some serious farm memories 😂😂
Kinda brought a tear to my eye. I just sold my red, 85 Gmc short-bed PU. My wheels were different and mine had AC (I live in Florida and its necessary.) I love to see young ladies work on their own vehicles. Keep it up, Brenda.
