  • This is my attempt to compare these three Canon cameras that I'v owned and used for a while. I am trying to show the image differences in different situations. They appear fairly similar, but after thousands of photos and videos with each I can say that they are very different in the way they work for video and photography. Yet all are still very good to excellent cameras.

    Damn good video bro, that’s the setup I’ll have ! You helped me make my decision, because I think you have the best setup on RUclips, I can’t wait until my equipment arrives. You definitely know what you’re doing and talking about man. Your videos are simple and easy to follow, before I was lost, because I am brand new to RUclips and recording with my iPhone. Thanks Aaron !

    I’ve watched all of your 90D videos. Great stuff. I just got the 90D and used it today for the first time for work and it blows my 80D out of the water. Must be the
    UHS-II cards and faster Digic 8. I see that there is a intervalometer built into the camera. That’s huge. I just shot a RAW(38MB) timelapse today and it came out incredible.

    Really apppreciate this video!
    Considering thatr the 6K MKII and 90D are almost identical in price, i'm surprised to find there aere very few people out there doing any kind of direact A/B comparsons between the two cameras.
    I'm considering upgrading from my 70D and hoping for an upgrade in both resolution and low light performance, and Ive found it extremely difficult to find any comparions identying how much gain there is to be had in low light when moving from the 90D to the full frame 6D MKII.

    Thanks for the comparison. I’m undecided between the 6D MK 2 and 90D. I’m coming from a 600D which I think is called T3i in the US, and mainly shooting landscape and from time to time also architecture/street photography. Which one would you suggest to buy? Many thanks in advance. :)

    Hello, I got the t7i for portrait, I just purchase the canon 50 mm1.8. After watching your video, can I update my lens on the t7i to get some good pictures or do I need to purchase the mark 6d for better photos?

    • @FitsandFun
      @FitsandFun  4 года назад +1

      You can get great pictures with the T7i using the 50mm f1.8, or you can get other lenses for a bit sharper photos. It took me a while to be able to get great photos though, learning lighting, editing, composition, etc. The post processing is extremely important though, an average looking photo with the subject in focus can be made to look amazing with a few tweaks in post processing. Night and day difference, after the tweaks.

    On the dynamic range tests shots, I didn’t catch which lens you were using. What was it?

  • @craigcarlson4022
    @craigcarlson4022 3 года назад

    Aaron, Just came across your channel. I'm a 'stills photography only' user. I have owned the Canon 6D which i used for many years. I felt it delivered better raw files, but its dynamic range felt pretty limited. I now have a 77D and want to upgrade. So have been grappling with whether to go with the 90D or back to full frame, and if FF, which Canon model to opt for. The new R6 and R5 are SOOOOOO expensive, so have been considering the 6D mark ii or the RP. But, its limited DR holds me back from grabbing up one of those. But it seems you are saying that for stills photography, there's no question that you are seeing better dynamic range flexibility in the 6D mark ii raw files than with the newer and higher resolution 90D, is that correct? Thanks much, Craig

    • @FitsandFun
      @FitsandFun  3 года назад

      I feel like the 6dMKii gives a far superior Image than the 90D for stills. Less noise, better bokeh, more impressive images all around. Also get sharper images with L lenses like the Canon 24-70mm f2.8, and the Canon 70-200mm f2.8. My opinion is that it's not even close on stills.

    • @craigcarlson4022
      @craigcarlson4022 3 года назад

      Aaron, Thanks very much for the reply and your perspective. And glad you mentioned lenses. I have good L telephoto zooms but i don’t have a good midrange lens. I had the first version of the 24-100 f4 L IS and wasn’t really impressed with it. Have you used the newer version? And would you recommend the 24-70 f2.8? I’m just a little hesitant to get a lens that doesn’t have image stabilization. When i am doing dedicated landscape work i will use a tripod but other times i am just hand holding my shots. Thanks for any additional experience you can offer. Craig

    • @craigcarlson4022
      @craigcarlson4022 3 года назад

      Aaron, actually, no need to comment on EF lenses for the 6D. Having compared 6D and the mirrorless RP models i think i will go with the RP. It has the focus stacking feature i want to be able to use more easily. Plus i can jump into the RF lenses after i rob a few banks. ;-). Regards, Craig

    For portrait photography (as a beginner), would you recommend the Canon EOS Rebel T6i or Canon 6D? I plan to use the camera outdoors mostly now for family portraits, senior portraits, weddings, and newborn shots. Also, which lense do you recommend 85mmx1.8 or 50mmx1.8? I didn’t want to spend so much just starting.

    • @FitsandFun
      @FitsandFun  3 года назад +1

      I always prefer full frame vs crop for all of my photography. A lot of people disagree with me on this, but most who disagree haven't shot on a full frame. For video I don't see a difference at all except in the width of the shot. But strictly photography, 100% full frame.

    • @jeneereese

      @@FitsandFun Thank you that settles that! One more question: Which would you recommend between Canon 6D DSLR or Canon EOS RP Mirrorless! Both are full frame. I just can’t decide between the two when it comes to portraits! I’m ready to make a purchase today and need more expert advice!

    • @FitsandFun
      @FitsandFun  3 года назад +1

      I'd go with the EOS RP, hands down. I own the R6, it's my first Mirrorless camera, and I've used it for senior portraits and family portraits. The eye focus in the viewfinder makes it actually difficult to miss focus, 90% of my photos are usable and sharp. Vs the 6dMKii where it's probably 60%. Also with the adapter, I can use every lens I own, all my ef-s and ef lenses.

    That tamron you used gives an unfair advantage to the 6DM2. It simply cannot handle the 90D. I used it back in the day with my 6DM1 and my 70D (and later my 80D and 7DM2) and it always was better on the 6D (compared to all of the crops). However, my 90D is super sharp and detailed on a 500 mm f/4L Mk II lens. The lens makes a huge difference when you are talking about detail. I think your tests are not showing the 90D to its best advantage.

    From what I gathered 90d is amazing for video & if you're a casual/beginner get that as the photos are still really good. The 6D mark ii being full frame has that beautiful background melting for portraits & no crop & better for editing/fixing images it's the more serious/professional camera.

      6dMKii, not even close. Now for wedding video I use the 90D, but the photos from the full frame 6D Mark ii are fantastic, and the extra width from the full frame is a huge must for wedding venues.

    To compare video full HD:
    Can You maybe do this test the right way.
    Canon 6D2 Full format. 7i crop. Crop-factor 1.6.
    So if you put a 24/2.8 lens at ISO 400 on canon 7i.
    You should put a 38/4.5 lens at ISO 1025 on canon 6D2.
    (24 x 1.6 = 38 --- 2.8 x 1.6 = 4.5 --- 400 x 1.6 x 1.6 = 1025)

      I Agree. But not sayin about image quality.
      Fullframe will always be better at overall Image Quality, Color and Dynamic Range and Clean Images.
      But the 30MP crop has more crisp image details at low ISO. Not overall Image Quality
      because of the unfair focus comparison the image quality of 90D becomes slightly out of focus and becomes less sharp... hehe
