One thing I love on this fight scene at 0:44 is how everytime, whether it's a program or TRON, bodies are being hit, the camera shakes, as well as the screen flickering a little, as if the flashback couldn't handle the power of the battle.
Think about it, this probably happened to Flynn during the 80s or 90s when VHS was still a big thing, so it makes sense his "digital" grid memories/flashbacks would be in a VHS format.
Flynn! Yeah Are you gonna quit micromanaging me and let me do my own shit? Yeah Flynn! Yeah Do you realize you left your Ducati in the real world? Yeah Flynn!
Tron Legacy and Blade Runner 2049 are the two most under appreciated incredible films of the 2010s. Ironically, both of them were as well in the 1980s.
Given Tron was always portrayed as the toughest Program on the Grid, bar none, I always suspected he wouldn't get de-rezzed so easily. Of course, the reason he is later portrayed as "Rinzler" is explained in the tv series. Tron was so damaged by Clu he couldn't function anywhere close to normally, so he became "Rinzler", a whole new identity, in an attempt to hide his survival from Clu. He even trained a protege to become the "new" Tron. But he failed, so did his apprentice, even though Tron was eventually healed. Rather than repurpose Tron, Clu reprogrammed him to just be "Rinzler" with Tron's security programming, hence the two discs. He's a combination of two versions of the same program. Also, he corrupted Tron's voicebox so nobody would recognise his voice even if he spoke. Remember, we don't hear Tron's own voice after this until after Rinzler locks eyes with Kevin Flynn and he gets his own memories back...
It's not just the two discs but he strikes the same pose as Rinzler does when facing off against Sam in the arena. Also he was the only unmasked character and you had to figure the eponymous character would have to make an appearance somewhere!
when i first saw it, I'd noticed the T on his chest when he was fighting sam the first time, I was afraid it MIGHT be true then. But i was heartbroken when i saw him pick up both disc. I also was the opnly persomn in the theater who stood and cheered when he said "I fight for the users." one last time before taking out CLU's drones.

He never saw this coming and subsequently all his power is basically useless because his brain is still trying to process what is even happening. He only survives because Tron springs into action as soon as his User is placed in danger.
Two things I've noticed about Tron: The first programs disk dissipates when killed, but the second disk doesn't since Tron holds onto it. Him looking down on it might be showing that he's confused why or how it hasn't crumbled in his hands. But the more interesting thing is that it's the first hint to how Tron is, or was Rinzler. Fact I've learned is the purr Rinzler/Tron gives off is relative to the sound of a damaged computer hard drive. Which is frightening since Tron was very much on the verge of death.

Actually he's the same original actor Bruce Boxleitner digitally de-aged. It just so happens that Bruce favors Michael Douglas in appearance both as a young and older man.

And, by that point......Well.....As Sam said......"A few strokes of the keyboard in the real world, and he's deleted."
What i love about this is that Flynn designed the hero of his universe after the likeness and personality of his absolute best friend It kinda goes to show what little ego Flynn had He just wanted to make something awesome for everyone
I mean Flynn had the ego to think he could create a "perfect" system. The whole moral of the story is that he had an ego. Clue was created in his image.
Only part of this movie I didn’t like was I felt it was to short and I didn’t get to see enough of Tron/Rinzler I wanted to see him wrecking people being a badass which I hope we get to see again in the new film
The big problem with this fight is that Tron wouldn't lose if Flynn fought with him. The two of them could have easily taken Clu. What's even stupider is that the only reason Flynn died in the end was because he was too old. At the time he wasn't that old, so he could have taken clue into himself without dying.
In fairness to the writers, I think the idea is that Kevin was caught completely flatfooted by all this. The last thing he said to Tron before Clu interrupted was about how everything was under control. He was confident, relaxed and thought Tron was worrying too much. I think Kevin is basically in shock during this confrontation as he tries to procesd what is even happening. Subsequently by the time he starts to rationally consider his options, it's too late, Tron is already down and Clu is already solidifying his grasp on power. Just my reading of the situation anyway.
It was stated in the movie that the more Flynn fought against Clu the more powerful he became. He fed off of his rebellion. Plus he didn't want to destroy Clu. He trusted him. He thought everything was under control as he discussed with Tron and he never expected Clu to stage a coup and turn on him the way he did. He cared for Clu just as much as he cared for Tron. And it was also stated by Quorra that if Flynn were to re-absorb Clu [derez him basically] that it would kill them both. He wouldn't be able to handle the output of the energy it was raw power it'd destroy them both. It wasn't because he was too old it was because he cared for Clu and didn't want to derez him. He realized his mistakes, he tried to mend them with Clu to no avail. He had no choice at the end but to do the last ditch effort to save his son so he could leave. Til the end he tried his best to do what needed to avoid derezing Clu because he cared and because he saw him as a friend. And as I stated before the more he fought the more powerful he became, it was too risky to keep trying. So he went into hiding to try and just wait him out. Not because he was too weak. Clu was the first thing Flynn created in the flashback. Before Tron before everything was the way it is now. So of course he'd hold a special place in his heart. That like having a child and cherishing them to the very end. Clu was like his son. Basically his son. Aside from Sam. It's only right he does whats ultimately necessary for his true son to live at the cost of his digitally cloned created one.
@@noctemluxarmiger but if you watch the first movie it's a really massive retcon. In the first movie Tron was unnaturally powerful since he was an antivirus of sorts. He could override the system and do things that were impossible for programs to do. Moreover, Flynn, when younger, and Tron could have easily jailed Clu. Even after the betrayal. He wouldn't have escaped because Clu can't overpower what Flynn does. The movie makes that clear. When Flynn creates something it is always better than what Clu creates. So the movie makes no sense.
@Rawc90 YES TRON WAS VERY AWESOME. Seeing him derrez those guards with such ease in 3D in the BFI Imax was an amazing experience. MOAAARRRRRR TRON!!!!!!!! Please? :D
Flynn was scared. Tron wasn't trying to kill Clu he only wanted to make sure Flynn was able to get home through the portal or get away safely. Plus in Uprising it showed that Tron fought more than those black guards. It was a whole lot worse. He was betrayed by Dyson and was 'derezed' by him until he was later repurposed. He thought Clu had killed Tron but all his did was gravely wound him. Dyson landed the "killing blow". And as stated in the movie Flynn did eventually fight back but the more he fought the stronger Clu became so he just had to run. And derezing him was bad too because doing so would kill him and Clu as in the end of the movie which is the exact reason why he didn't fight or try and kill him when he found out he fed of his energy. Plus he viewed Clu as a friend and was shocked at what transpired. Plus Clu also stated that his target was never Flynn, "He can go wherever he wants. But my real target was you Tron." Clu realized Tron was a serious threat and would always protect the users so he sought to destroy just him. So he did all that to get him out of the picture so he didn't have anyone to challenge him. But he repurposed him into Rinzler at the end. That growl is corrupted data and code btw if you didn't know.

And, by that point......Well.....As Sam said......"A few strokes of the keyboard in the real world, and he's deleted."

Maybe Tron knew he only had a spare moment as himself and wanted to die so that he couldn’t be leveraged again.
When I see this scene, I was like, "No Tron is dead?! Oh this is messed up."
Tron didn't die but was badly injured Clu would eventually repurpose Tron making him into Rinzler
Sam is just like "bitvh u srs?

When Clu changed color, Flynn should have noticed that something wasn't right about him.
I think he did. That "yeah" sounds uncertain.
Ive had the "...yeah?" set as my notification sound on my phone for over a year and now watching this scene the line feels so out of place to me 😂
KEVIN FLYNN WHERE ARE YOU NOW
When you're playing public matches with your friends, but the match making puts your friend on the enemy team:
I love how they re-created this I'm tron: uprising! :D
*Yeah.* Well that’s just like, your opinion man.
biodigital jazz man. XD
What i love about this is that Flynn designed the hero of his universe after the likeness and personality of his absolute best friend
It kinda goes to show what little ego Flynn had
He just wanted to make something awesome for everyone
Flynn didn't create Tron, Alan Bradley did. Flynn created Clu.
I mean Flynn had the ego to think he could create a "perfect" system. The whole moral of the story is that he had an ego. Clue was created in his image.
0:28 "Yeah 🤑👌"
That “yeah?” Changed everything
Only part of this movie I didn’t like was I felt it was to short and I didn’t get to see enough of Tron/Rinzler I wanted to see him wrecking people being a badass which I hope we get to see again in the new film
Being brainwashed and reprogrammed is what makes villains limit your media consumption and exercise and eat healthy my friends
Order 66 of tron Just like the great schism of halo full circle.
@Rawc90 YES TRON WAS VERY AWESOME. Seeing him derrez those guards with such ease in 3D in the BFI Imax was an amazing experience. MOAAARRRRRR TRON!!!!!!!!

y E a H?
I feel like they should have used the old stuff here. Like the old suits, the old discs and the bad graphics.
But they had already moved well past that. It had been years of upgrades to the system.
now finally we are getting Tron 3.

Moral of the movie.

So does anyone else feel like Tron shouldn't have lost to CLU? I was so mad at Flynn for running it would've been two on one with Tron on his side.
2:38 Yeah. lol
