True. The machines could have even gone for mass kills by making the drills into basically WMDs. They drill in fall and airburst detonate, killing large numbers in the hangar, and then the swarm could have mopped up the rest.
the next phase of the plan was to rebuild zion and repopulate it with the humans neo would choose and continue the cycle. The architect even says they get better at its destruction each time
I feel the machines were just intentionally depleting all the Mech ammo and they didn't even have to, but that was just best for squashing the human resistance
Guys, keep in mind that in the Martix 2 Mifune says something to the effect of "We have no idea how any of this works, we didn't design this place, we just inherited it, we have no idea how we get fresh water etc." The designs of the mechs might have been handed down, which is why there was no protection, maybe they don't know how to make glass. This is also why the one guy who did understand how the mahines worked was able to use it to create the emp. By breaking the motor of the gate the counter weight created the emp.
Correction. The reason the APU doesn't have armor is efficiency of limited resources. In the history of first war with Machine it was shown how armor didn't mean much. Original APU is full armor from head to toe. And the Sentinels just cut the armor open and rip the guy out. And remember, this was the battle when Humanity was at its peak. For those wanting an explanation: The APU's are built like mobile AA platforms. usually those things are kept open top for a reason. Due to the fact the arms need at least 180° rotation, additional armor plating would limit and ultimately defeat the entire purpose as a firing platform. They were meant to take down flying targets, from a distance. Once the machines got in close it basically became a losing battle to keep them out of minimum range, which as you saw proved disastrous. Even in a peer to peer engagement, the weapons the APU uses are essentially oversized M60's using ammunition at sizes usually loaded into IFV's. They were never meant for close range engagements.
I'm sorry I know people love to give this movie shit, but I genuinely thought this overall fight was pretty fucking badass. And I loved the "knuckles up!" line, as a command to aim your weapons, considering they aim via aiming their fists at something.
I counted 76 total APU's. They had the strength, the skill, the will, but they had the fault of one thing... plot. the writers were not on their side...
They had absolutely nothing. Old People had better technologies and superior numbers yet they failed miserably against much weaker machines. Very depressive.

Capt. Mifune even tho he was just a side character and doesn’t get much screen time, his bravery won him this scene. Also when we first met him in episode 2 I think, Mifune seems a reasonable officer.
Simple reason: Additional armor would be a waste of iron. It's designed as bipedal and light. Putting too much iron (armor) would not make any bit of difference as the machines would just topple them down then use lasers to breach and kill the pilots.

For those wanting an explanation:
The APU's are built like mobile AA platforms.
usually those things are kept open top for a reason.
They were never meant for close range engagements.
seems they were designed for construction, like shooting cap screws or something like that...
@@ShadowFri3nd hahaha!
That dude gave that role everything he had, holy shit.
This is how birth control works.
HAHAHAHAHAHAAH this made me laugh so hard i dont know why i thought this was so funny
Good one
This scene alone is far superior than entire Matrix 2021
I'm sorry I know people love to give this movie shit, but I genuinely thought this overall fight was pretty fucking badass. And I loved the "knuckles up!" line, as a command to aim your weapons, considering they aim via aiming their fists at something.
Damn:“Goliath online!“
Starcraft kids understand.
I counted 76 total APU's. They had the strength, the skill, the will, but they had the fault of one thing... plot. the writers were not on their side...
They had absolutely nothing. Old People had better technologies and superior numbers yet they failed miserably against much weaker machines. Very depressive.
@@allaireko in the wiki im pretty sure it says "More than 120,000 units were produced by the time of the Battle of Zion," so they probably couldve done wave defensives and moved those in one wave at a time to defend.
Overrun locusts type tactics. When there's a 100,000 machines to every one man it's only a matter of time before your reloaders get picked off or just tired from doing that for hours on end.
the problem is that the machines also had more, they literally have the entire planet under there rule.
@@nukiesduke6868 reminded me of the soviet tactics of having more men than the germans had bullets. theyre gonna run out of men and guns eventually, so just keep sacrificing. another thing that i just remembered was that they knew theyd die; they said it during the beginning of the scene; "if its our time to die its our time". they were under the doctrine of not just holding out, but to just kill as much as you could to make the others within zion last longer
"I never finished the training program."
"Neither did I...."
This line always sticks with me, because even the best started at the bottom.
I wonder how Mifune was able to move around with that mech with those massive balls.
How I imagine birth control works 😂
LMAO
Watching this as a kid was bad ass. Watching as an adult really makes me wonder why they would create these machines without any protection for the operator..
Ever watched Animatrix? The machines are piercing the armor with laser. Operator cant escaped and trapped in his mech. This War scene in Animatrix against the machines gave me nightmares.
They don't even have a targetting system they're just eyeballin' it
"I’ll take missing the point for 100 Alex"
You ever hear of shrapnel?
This is all i ever wanted in VR. Me and 63 other strapped boys screaming at our inevitable end with big giant robot guns
Nort gonna lie, the first time I saw this, I said to myself "That is probably the manliest man ever on screen. He stand on business and he is the definition on last stand" Like wow, I was a kid and so inspired.
Edit: I just found out no one likes Matrix Revolution. Like how? You cannot tell me this isnt badass or even the one that Keanu Reeves vs Agent Smith in the rain like superman isnt cool. The CGI still holds up. You guys taste is weird
just a bunch of haters that forgot these were action sci fi movies and expected to have their mind blown again like in the first movie. The first movie was an introduction. They wanted the suspense more than the answers the 2nd and 3rd movie provided.
Mifune was an absolute unit.
One of the best speeches before a fight in a movie. 👌
Easily one of the best sci-fi battles ever!
How is it that a movie made a decade ago still loos better thano most modern ones?!
He's excessively committed until the very end. Rest in peace soldier. 🫡🫡🫡🫡
I remember watching in the theater back then and people were laughing at the mechs. I think it was the coolest battle scene ever. This is like defense tower
Something with that much firepower should have some armor/shielding for the operator.
Trying to keep the mechs as mobile as possible. So they cut cost on weight.
@@geoffreyprior8931 Dead/injured operators decreased mobility significantly, and weight wasn't much of an issue considering the number of them lined up and fighting on the bridges.
@@geoffreyprior8931 And other than the kid's trump at the end of the clip, they pretty much stood, wiggled their arms and shot a fraction of the incoming enemy.
Hands down the best action scene of any "fight for humanity" action flick FIGHT ME
I think this is randomly recommended to us all suddenly. What a nostalgic movie
This was definitely the most epic moment from Revolution.
Capt. Mifune even tho he was just a side character and doesn’t get much screen time, his bravery won him this scene. Also when we first met him in episode 2 I think, Mifune seems a reasonable officer.
La determinación de ese hombre hace que se merezca una película sobre su historia...
Captain Mifune giving one of the best last stands in movie history
Movie does have its problems of course, but he wasn't one of them
This should be a VR game
And for some reason the engineers decided it wasn't necessary to add any armour to protect the operator of these great war machines lol.
Simple reason: Additional armor would be a waste of iron. It's designed as bipedal and light. Putting too much iron (armor) would not make any bit of difference as the machines would just topple them down then use lasers to breach and kill the pilots.
Im glad i never nitpicked over this scene. Everyone else having a bad time with the exoskeleton concept
It's humans piloting light mechs pissing metal against near endless waves of machines. What's not to like?
You mean the one type of suit that is slow, lacks agility, requires physical movement to operate, has no shielding, and is only capable of firing bullets from guns that can be holstered and aren't held by default?
@@ProfChaos1985 Now see here Professor Chaos, we don't have to tolerate this level of disrespect. Would there happen to be another Butters near by that we can speak with?
@@ProfChaos1985 I hope your underground society works out better with the unlimited resources you won't have
For those who don't know, the boy who goes out to recharge is the protagonist of the story of "Kid's Story" in animatrix.
Fun fact: Adam Savage from Mythbusters built a lot of the props and miniatures for this movie.
for those wondering why no armor, watch Animatrix The Second Rennaisance part, I rather die on the spot than be trapped inside that walker
also that as a result of resources dwindling, the armours on the APU’s were being removed as shown with the last APU that was destroyed having less armour
exactly
Gotta remember this was 2003. I do some 3D modeling and I remember sitting in the theatre thinking there is absolutely nothing CGI can't do at this point. It was incredible for the time.
this Scene reminds me of my Father. He served in Vietnam as a "Tunnle Rat". When he got back to the states He could only find work as an enforcer for organized crime. Met my mother and had me. later took in my sister in law form the Dominican Republic. Suffered form Agent Orange. It made his skin grow faster than it could shed. He had to shave his skin with a knife and douse him self in alcohol to keep form getting infected. at age 50 doctors said he had 6 months left. They were wrong! He fought for another 15 years to be with my sister and I. He died in my arms. The last ting I said to him was never stop fighting. Doctors got his heart restarted after an hour. But it was too late. All the family came to him. When he finally passed it took 2 stroke, 3 heart attacks and a MASSIVE ANURISUM to bring him down. When our father was pronounced brain dead, I made the decision to "unplug" him, That SOB started breathing on his own. They thought he would be gone by the morning. He held on for another 3 days and finally went home on Good Friday also the first day of Passover at 9:27am. R.I.P Michael Alexander Weltz 11/29/52- 04/19/19 I Only hope when it is finally our time to die WE GIVE EM AS MUCH HELL AS YOU DID!!!!
People like your father and my grandfather are the reason I went into the Army. I've endured my own struggles with injuries, deployment, and just regular life. I'm fighting lupus right now. I regret nothing. I pray that when life brings struggles your way, that you give it the middle finger. I feel like you are already a fighter. God bless you and your family!❤
Love it!
I salute the both of you and your relatives @tay9843
@@tay9843 Thank you for your service Soldier.
His name is a homage to the late Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune or Mifune Toshiro. In fact, he looks uncannily similar to Mifune - at least to me.
By far the most badass moment in any of the matrix movies
Let's be real; one of the most badass moments in all of movie history lol
Couldn't agree more
This is the shit all men have dreamt about at least once. And Mifune went out like an absolute G.
This scene shows that a Titanfall movie could easily be made.
Thank you so much for upload this scene, is my favorite from the movie! I really appreciate it😁
Me too!
People be like: "why no armour?!"
Have you not seen those sentinels peeling back the hulls of the ships the humans run around in?
Yeah, but the peeling usually takes enough time that the sentinels would probably be killed if they tried. It wouldn't make them invincible, but it would probably significantly up their survival rate.
@@Dylan_Archbold not really, thinking about the lack of resources and being trapped in walking coffin. this design looks ok
@@sscaesar3569By that logic, any armored vehicle is a walking coffin. The safety and protection of your vehicle operators can increase their combat effectiveness by orders of magnitude. This has been true throughout history, and future tech shouldn't make any difference. Even having less mechs, but having them armored, because of lack of resources, would have been a better idea.
@@Dylan_Archbold have you seen how many sentinels there are? this isn't even a hypothetical, watch the animatrix
@@Pottan23Yes? Look how long it takes to peel them open. Now imagine them under fire. Like I said, it wouldn't make them invincible, but it would keep them fighting and effective for longer.
