    I'm glad both the pilot and aircraft are okay and flying again.

      William F fuel starvation from the inverted flight I think

    • @hellcatdave1
      @hellcatdave1 7 лет назад +1

      Not likely, not a common problem on G4's.
      Maybe a failed fuel-pump, but I can't find any info. It could be unknown.
      The G4 was not known to be as problematic as earlier G series, notably the G2, which was notoriously deadly due to failures...especially regarding fires breaking out in the engine, engulfing the cockpit.

      +DavidMN Whatever fuel pickup arrangement that was used in the fuel tank sucked air during an inverted flight maneuver. One of the first things that the investigators did at the crash sight was to unhook the fuel lines at the injection pump and they were empty. That was in the report. As a result, they have changed the flight procedures to avoid inverted flight maneuvers now.

    • @HotelPapa100
      @HotelPapa100 6 лет назад +3

      According to the official accident report the plane was not equipped with a fuel supply system that allowed for inverted flight. During inverted flight the fuel pick-up point in the tank fell dry and the connecting hoses started to draw air.Don't know if the Spaniards didn't install a full aerobatics capable fuel supply sitem in their buchons.

    I find the absence of the Swastika (Hackenkreuz) disturbing. The men who flew, fought and died in the 109 had the Swastika on the tail. To deny this detail is dismissive of their sacrifice.

      This is an aircraft of the german "Messerschmitt Stiftung" (let's say society)... and in countries like Germany and Austria the Swastika is banned from public (except purely educational/historical... and censored stuff).
      I don't want and do not need to see any Swastikas...
      But of course "one can" also bring censorship to an extreme ...

      You don't get it, right? First... my opinion is not your problem.

      Nun, gemäss Flugunfallbericht (übrigens verfügbar seit August 2013, meinjanur...) ist da nichts "ausgefallen". Die Maschine (konkret, die Ansaugung im Tank) war schlicht nicht dafür gebaut, länger auf dem Rücken zu fliegen.Ob das standard ist für die G-4, oder eine Eigenheit dieses individuellen Flugzeugs... k.A.

      +Flight Instructor It does seem to be an accident-prone airframe. Damaged on take-off during film work for "Patton" in 1969. Sold to the US and repaired, and crashed again on a test flight in 1986. Repaired as a static Bf-109, then returned to Europe in 1994 for rebuild into "Red 7." Another major accident in 2005 when it tipped on a crosswind landing, ripping out the engine. Sold to EADS in Germany and rebuilt. Another accident in 2008 with a belly landing from landing gear problems. Repaired and another accident in 2013 with a belly landing after fuel-starvation stalled the engine. Repaired again and just suffered another accident with a ground loop in 2016.

    je ne trouve pas normal de continuer à faire voler des avions historiques, pour certains très rares, et d'autres pièces uniques restantes. de plus, bien souvent, les peintures authentiques et caractéristiques de ces époques ont été décapées par des associations peu scrupuleuses qu'elles ont remplacées par des peintures modernes qui n'ont rien à voir avec les originales, tant par l'aspect chimique que le rendu approximatif final. une grossière erreur ! le mieux c'est de fabriquer des répliques pour voler avec sécurité moderne, et conserver dans l'état d'origine les avions authentiques.

The fuel pickups sucked air and the lines to the fuel injection pump were almost empty when they disconnected them. Flight procedures were changed for the aircraft and inverted flight is not allowed.
