- The rare Messerschmitt Bf (Me) 109 [Red 7] seen on the ground and in the air on saturday the 17th of August at Roskilde Airshow 2013 in Denmark. All though the pictures are far from perfect you can enjoy the fantastic sound from that machine in the air. App. 95% of the total flight is recorded in this video. In the show the next day it did make an emergency landing in a cornfield near the airport. Luckily with no harm to the skilled pilot Klaus Plasa, and only minor damage to the plane. The plane is own by EADS - a huge european aerospace organisation and has home at Flugmuseum Messerschmitt (Messerschmitt Stiftung) near München. There exist only very few Bf (Me) 109 mounted with the original Daimler-Benz DB-605 engine. The plane itself is not quite original as it is licence build in Spain in 1950. The plane have participated in the famous movie The Battle of Britain and has crashed several times during its long life.
News May 2014:
The accident report from the belly landing have been published in May 2014 and reveal why the engine did stop in the air on that Sunday. The reason was that this Me109 is not intended to do negative G flight, for example, level flight upside down which the airplane did immediately before the engine stopped. In the plane's Flight Manual, there was no restrictions about that, and therefore the pilot could not know about that limitation. Restriction markings regarding negative G fligh is now put into the Flight Manual.
News May 2015:
The plane has now been repaired and is flying again. In addition, it has now been published that the Red 7 once more will participate in the big national airshow in Roskilde Denmark in 2015. It is the same airshow where the plane unfortunately had to belly land in a cornfield in 2013. - Авто/Мото
The sound of that engine ... It gives me goose bumps... It's like music ...
Jack Keville same as a Merlin both music pity they can't make albums
What a machine this is the sound it makes the noise of that db engine it's one mean looking aircraft one of my favourites always a beautiful looking aircraft.
This aircraft is almost 80 years old. Unbelievable! The most beautiful airplaine ever.
+sigi strele Originally a Spanish Buchon built around 1950. It wasn't converted into a Bf-109 until 1997.
@@FiveCentsPlease very true!
Beautiful looking (and sounding) plane.
Despite the events, the Bf109 for me is the most beautiful aircraft of all time.
+fullness Sky Also for me..
This is one of the most beautiful airplanes ever made, together with the P-51 and the Spitfire and the Zero. They are all Iconic.
Fantastic display and gorgeous sound from that Daimler Benz.
beautiful machine and it has a record that will never be matched by any planes this day and the future, it is a plane that shot down more aircraft
...and killed more of its pilots than the R.A.F. of USAF because although it was a "dream to fly" according to Adolf Galland, it was a bastard to land.
Thankyou superb display in an immaculate aircraft . nice to see with a DB engine congratulations to all those who keep it flying.
Thanks for your response 😎
Fighters from the 40's just sounded so (bleeping) good.
I don't care if it's a Daimler-Benz, or a Rolls-Royce. They both give me goosebumps.
Good to see it with its proper engine and not like those that were fitted with the Merlin...because that just never looked right
An incredible machine!
Thank you for no cuts i can finally see the beast move
Best Warbird Sound... Daimler Benz V12 Engine :)
If you can tell the difference between the DB series, the Jumo series, the Merlin series and the Allison series; all V12's with the same firing order, with a blindfold on and only using your ears, you are one unique animal.
Tony turbocharged :)

I'm just trying to amagine, 20-30 of this kind of plane dogfighting, it sounds so scary.
A beautiful aircraft indeed. A worthy memorial to the bravery of Luftwaffe Experten such as Johannes Steinhoff, Gunther Rall, Erich Hartmann, Walter Schuck, and others!
Hmm maybe shame they were fighting for a ultra violent mass murdering ideology but still petty plane
alagentleman1 yeah many others with up to 352 victories like Hartmann but a lot of them with 100 + victories....
@@xjboy550 You must be confused Matty. These were German pilots... not Soviet.
❤ I love the G and K Version of Bf-109.
This is just f@%king awesome!! I'm sad that I'll probably never get to witness first hand a restored BF 109 fly so thank you for showing me this vid!!! ; ) The thing that strikes me while watching this is it sounds almost like a P 51! only subtle differences tell them apart!
Oh my God that sound, I just drooled over myself listening to that
O me 109 é um avião magnífico ,amo a aviação .
Ya...WOW ...thanks to all who made this war bird flyable and for the upload!
Lovely to see a piece of history in the air again. Forget politics and think aviation.
love to hear these come by on a weekly basis (minus the war ofc but the sound of those engines are welcome and awesome)
it just sounds so beautiful ... *.*
Such a sweet machine. The man can fly it proper!
Damn, this whistling of the engine... It's f*cking great !
It's awesome to know the history of the plane. I hope there's no serious damage to it. Thank you
Germans were Created to design amazing machines, say what you like about them you can't argue with that!
Me 109 is no big deal. Narrow undercarriage, extremely small and tight cockpit, week canopy and rear wings, standard aerodynamic, heavy, engines so so standard(allied had more powerful engines) In 1945 already obsolete.
Fiat G50 Frecia or Macchi 200 Velcro or Reggi Re 2000 had with DB605 much better performances.
It was not the bird mate ,but who was flying the bird .end of .that Daimler sounds sweet though. @@mscjohndoe5847
And we conquered them. You can't argue with that!
Who Conquered who ?? @@nigel900
(@MS) You'll have to step out of public schools to learn that.... you're on your own....
A beautiful plane...
Love the sound
Utterly awesome!
Amazing!!
Great engine sound!!
What a gorgeous plane... The pilot did a hell of a job putting on a show. I've probably seen a few dozen Bf109 videos on RUclips, but still can't get enough...
Awesome machine!
Great video!!
man, this is a legend...the sound shreds the sky in pieces...the me 109 sounds like a giant moskito with monster balls...
Great video, thank you! I wish it will not stay grounded too long...
Gustav has a fine voice, and obviously an agile body.
Great footage. Thanks.
I have watched quite a few warbird clips from airshows and must express my gratitude to those who film footage like the above.
I would probably want to absorb the experience fully with ears but also both eyes - unobstructed by a camera.
The filmers are actually deprived to a degree of the full experience --> that's why also some thanks to them.
Thanks for the nice words. This is my first recording of planes at a air show and I plan to make improvements for the next mini show later this year and at the main air show in 2015. Has so far purchased myself some older but high quality long range lenses. Have also some ideas on to prevent shaky images and to be able to focus more precisely on the object.
+Thrust sst I always use a monopod with a ball socket head for shake free filming and ease of use when tracking an airplane around the sky. Manfrotto are the best ;)
Perfect Sky to Record This !!!!!!
Man, what I wouldn't give to own one of these bad boys.
Beautiful aircraft
0:05 she’s speaking to us
From the Wright Flyer to this, in 30yrs. Not bad, humanity ;-)
In WW2 these planes flew with synthetic fuel. This fuel was made of coal as far as I know and was less potent than oil-based fuel, that the allies used.
Now with good fuel we can see the real potential of these machines.
I wish this fact would be recognized while comparing for example the Spitfire Supermarine with the later versions of the Bf-109 or the Fw-190.
Wunderschön! Und der Klang *gänsehaut*
Nit-picking: The 109 has the designation "bf 109" with the abbreviation meaning Bayerishe Flugzugbau" .
It was only from the twin-engined Me 210 onwards - the intended replacement for bf 110- that they started using the abbreviation "Me" .
.
Beautiful video of a fine piece of engineering.
(The tricky handling characteristics of late-version 109s were caused by overloading a plane designed for a 700 hp engine carrying just 2 machine guns)
(another issue with late-war aircraft is they were often built using slave labor from occupied Europe, a part of history we should never forget)
Thanks so much for the response 😎
klaus plasa the best display pilot in the world
Great aircraft ,flown by the top Luftwaffe aces
John USN
Awsome images and DB605 engine noise ! I was expecting to see Erich Hartman , get out of this 109 with his childish smile
I'd like to know ,what is the flip-roll in a Me-109 like !
The Emellmen turn
LEBLEU JULES I feel so proud to be related to Erich
Sounds sweet.
Where this Me109 got its motor? In Austria, Steyr, was a Messerchmitt motor factory.
very mutch thanks 2 his great Pilot who Fly my Machine u are Great ^^
I know people not agree with me but i think bf 109 better than fw 190 and p51
beautiful plane
I thought the 109 G-4 could do a Negative g push over and inverted flight due to it being fuel injected just like the Es. And the Spitfire Mk1a could not due to flooding or chocking the carbs. Am I missing something?
confident pilot!
this awesome song of exhaust taking me to goosebumps
what a sound!
Yes, definitely. I might add that RUclips has recently introduced ad blocks in my videos. I have not been asked about this and it is not something I have wanted and I will not receive anything financially for this.
The Red 7 is flying again and has been on its first flight after the crash at Roskilde Airshow 2013. See more on this video released by Flugmuseum Messerschmitt: Me 109 G-4 Red 7 in 2014 / First flying display after crash at Roskilde Airshow / AWESOME!
It would be nice if somebody found a Me109K stored away in somebodies barn somewhere...
they were the best of them all...fuel injection does not stalled like carburetted planes...in stalls
in negative G...rolls.. Hartmann's favorite...
There is a Bf-109K project out there, but I am not sure if it will be airworthy. They started with a few parts and a serial number.
"Me109K...Hartmanns favourite"....???...Hartmann after his 350th kill(Abschuß.).. is seen in photographs
next to his Erla-built Bf 109 G-10......so when did the 109K become his favourite as you so claim?
K series planes are *SUPER RARE* would be unique to find one.
Klaus Plasa, he is one lucky guy to be able to fly that beauty. My American friend thinks German planes particularly Bf 109's sounds too deep and agressive. I think that is what makes German planes sound the best. He likes the weak sissy sounding Corsair. I mean yeah everyone is entitled to like what they like, but mmmm the Bf 109 sound is just pure sex to my ears haha!
Klaus Weßling Ja! I agree. I would love to see a fully restored Kurfurst-4
Klaus Weßling for my ears I really prefer the sound of v12 instead the radials...and think that eighty years ago these machines used the inverted V design, mechanichal fuel injection and turbochargers when no other aircraft and engine makers thought to do this... a must !
@@kkteutsch6416 They used variable speed superchargers, not turbos.
I only wish for a low speed low altitude fly by inverted, so I can see the dorsal paint scheme.
If only we had that model during the battle Britain, we would have prevailed!
КАКАЯ шикарная машина!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Как же я хочу полетать на ней!!
Good job comrade !!
The ME 109 have the best engine sound in the air of the WW2 fighting planes. It may not be the best air to combat one but what a sound... like if two different engines running at the same time.
IS that a Daimler Benz engine or a Merlin?
Just missing the howling kompressor, think its turned down too much since the plane is lighter without armour and guns. But that sound oh yeah!
I don't think a P 51 could do any better than that......maybe not as good as the 109 after seeing this display! I wish there were more of them flying today. As for the missing swastika on the tail...I'll have to accept it and just enjoy the beautifully restored work of art the plane is.
What was the second best fighter plane of WWII? Of course, it was the Spitfire.
super!!!
Amazing fighter
What a lovely plane, from the past. All those Years ago. 1935 first designed.
Hallo,

Oh my god... that Engine roar...
sorry for saying this but its Bf109 and not Me109 :3
Adrenalina Purissima !
Since this plane was built in Spain, is the engine the Daimler Benz DB-605, or is it a Hispano-Suiza V-12? And if it is the Hispano-Suiza, and is not fuel-injected such as the DB-605 V-12, that would explain, I would guess, why the pilot could not fly the plane inverted for more than 6-7 seconds before the carbs starved out. The BF-109 Emils during the Battle of Britain surprised many British pilots by flying inverted and employing great maneuverability to get out of some tough spots to avoid Spits and Hurries in a dogfight.
2:56-3:05 that part just makes me giddy just look at that baby go!
I can only imagine the excitement. Your cockpit rattling as your going 400mp/h, pullin G's while bullets are wizzing past your wings. Must have been horrifying knowing a burst of lead could end you.
is the bf109g use the Db 605 or db 601?
+muhammad noval Its a DB605.
I would love to see a 109 do a Himmelmann, double or triple!
"Immelmann" Manoeuvre 😂 Himmelmann 😂
bello aparato !!!!!!!!
i hope a day can drive one of them *_*
Thrust sst Do you have the report for this crash?
Cinnabun
The accident report is now in the Danish aviation accident archives. Conclusion was fuel starvation from several seconds of inverted flight, because the fuel system in this restored plane did not support inverted flight. Try this download link, if it works or search the Danish archives for 2014: www.havarikommissionen.dk/index.php?option=com_contentbuilder&controller=list&view=list&search_form_id=4&id=4&Itemid=225&lang=en&contentbuilder_download_file=98afe23c34a752b9fa0cf4f0bf114edc3b1cdaf5
No other aero mill sounds like the inverted V12.
Voi perkele kun pääsisi ohjastaan tuollaista legendaarista Me 109.
I wonder, if they make historical reconstructions of infantry units etc., what insignias do they put on wehrmacht uniform nowdays?
How epic would be that if your're were a millionaire, buy Me 109 and fly it to everywhere.
your camera lens is dirty >_
Wait a fuckin minute what camera used to record this ?
not a real me-109 where is the famous sound when it dive bombs???
The spinner is trippy.
You'd really need specialists to fly the 109 surely ie Klaus Plasa Mark Hanna ( deceased unfortunately) Keith Skilling maybe Paul Bohomme they're such a rare beautiful airplane would hate to see one damaged
Thanks for your response. I will soon have a new video ready from this year's Flight show.
Because this plane is a 'marriage' between a Hispano HA-1112 and a DB-engine, it doesn't work exactly like a BF/Me 109. The fuel tanks, fuel line and suction points in the fuel tanks may differ from the original 109.
The original BF/Me 109 had no problem with negative g-forces and inverted flight, because of the fuel injection system and because the whole fuel system was designed for negative g-forces and inverted flight. This plane may have those problems because the fuel lines can run dry because of suction points that are beyond the fuel level.
Yeah but overall same design just with minor changes
no, he is right.
the rote Sieben was a Hispano HA 1112 M-1L "Buchon"
built in 1950
you can see her unrestored in the movie battle of britain
Ya das ist sehr gut !!!!
Buchon re-engined isnt it ?
IT is a spanisch rebuild With Somerville original Parts
Sorry ist Some original Parts
I believe there are more BF 109 with the DB605.
For example the FMBB or the BF109 of the FHC
I am far from an expert in WW2-planes, but according to wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimler-Benz_DB_605 as well as the official speak during the Airshow - the Red 7 should be the only operational BF109 at this moment. But I apologize if it's not correct. Thanks for your respondance !
Thrust sst
Red 7 is down for repairs after an engine failure and belly landing in late 2013. There are three operational DB engined Me109G series in Germany, including Red 7. I believe all three are currently under repair or service and not flying. There are two DB powered Me109E series in North America. One is for sale in Ontario, Canada and is not presently flying, while the other resides with the Flying Heritage Collection in Everett, Washington and only flies a few scheduled days each year. There are several additional Me109s in long-term rebuild for eventual flight.
Sorry to disappoint you Stefan, but the Red Seven is a BF 109 G-4 with a DB 605, as all BF 109s from EADS are G's with DB 605's. The only BF 109-E in Germany is the one that is currently restored by Meiermotors for Robs Lamplough that one will have a DB 601 indeed.
WrUSasu
Agreed. The E-1 at Meier is going to look fantastic when it is finished. They do some of the best work I've seen. There is a Bf 109 V10a that is in private restoration in Germany as well, though I don't know if they are using a Jumo 210 or DB 600 or if the goal is for airworthy.
WrUSasu
The BF109-E of the Flying heritage collection is equipped with DB 601.
I know that the *Rote7* is a G with DB 605.
BTW: After posting here my Nickname was highlighted as my real name.
And shortly after that my channel has been deleted....?!? Very Strange!!!
Is this a real one from the war?
No - The Messerschmitt is own by EADS - a huge european aerospace organisation and has home at Flugmuseum Messerschmitt (Messerschmitt Stiftung) near München.
There exist only very few Bf (Me) 109 mounted with the original Daimler-Benz DB-605 engine. The plane itself is not quite original as it is licence build in Spain in 1950. The plane have participated in the famous movie The Battle of Britain and has crashed several times during its long life. The latest major restoration is from 2004.
it's a "bf-109" not m.e.
