This is the way videos like this should be presented, no synthesized BS music overplaying the sound of the plane. The actual sound is music enough.
its very strange to hear a video that has no background noise, when that engine was shutdown it was very peaceful, no whooping and cheering, its nice to just appreciate the sound of history without the interference.
@@gogogeedus Agreed!
Well said sir
absolutely !!!
Well said!
I saw The Battle Of Britain at the theater when young. I fell in love with the 109's and Spitfires. Great machines!
Beautifully restored and a tribute to all the brave men who flew the Me 109. Many thanks to those who restored her and shared the video.
Amen!
You misspelled „Nazi“.
Brave men? You spelle "Nazi bastards" wrong....
Congratulations to those who put in the incredible work to get her airworthy again!!!!
Brilliant loved it. You show the real sequence of pilot start engine, chocks away and pilot canopy locked before take off. A salute to all hero Messerschmitt 109 pilots.
Hugo Broch: Thank you!
Rest in peace Gunther. You did your job well sir.
In the plane is simply outstanding.
Did he dieded
Beautiful! I've been into old warbirds since I was a kid and these days, I get the chills and my eyes well up every time I see them run. There must be something about them!
What a truly magnificent aircraft congratulations to all involved and keep up the great work.
I totally agree with Mr. Vandemotor. This was an enjoyable presentation with natural aircraft sounds and no stupid music. Decent lenswork too.
Boy the old 109 sound great guys! The motor just sounds awesome!
Amazing aircraft, amazing restoration, amazing pilot. Well done to everyone involved!
Top restauriert und schön geflogen, der Sound einfach Klasse
Awesome! Excellent restoration! Willi Messerschmitt would have been proud! 🇩🇪👏👍
Amazing any of these old planes are still in flying condition. Kudos to the mechanics and restoration efforts.
but don't underestimate the effort to restaure such old warbird in flying conditions. Often it took years and the costs are immense.
Good ole' Willy is smiling that day, seeing one of his birds flying again. Well done
Charlie Brown on controls, this pilot is freakin' awesome!!!! Super Video!!
That monstrous engine in such a small machine. Every crevice crammed with artillery and petrol. Undercarriage as an afterthought. The look of a tigershark in the shallows.
That guy looks like the pilot of the Antonov An-2 I jumped out of. That mustache looks familiar.
@@nickd920 It's Charlie Brown, well known Spitfire and Bf/Me109 pilot. He's good, should see him when he really shows what the planes can do, though since the jet accident at Shoreham, I think they only do flybys now.
Fantastic fighter ! My favorite plane, great restauration job ! I hope we'll see it in a display at la Ferté Alais in the next years !
Nice to see a 109 in flight. All WW11 war birds are absolutely deadly beautiful like different breeds of eagles
I have literally watched 1 maybe 1 1/2 hundred vids of restored ww2 birds flying and this is by far one of the best quality and sound!
Bin immer wieder froh, wenn ich einen alten „War Bird“ in der Luft sehe!
... was da für eine Ingenieursleistung drin steckt..... toll!
da bin ich ganz deiner meinung
Der Willy hatte es drauf !😉
Absolute Spitzenklasse!
My favourite. The sound when overflying is so magic.
Wow, what an awesome aircraft and so totally surprised to see Charlie Brown sitting in the pilots seat ; great pilot
Charlie has a wealth of 109 time dating back to Black 6 in the 1990s at Duxford, he was one of the few MOD (ex) pilots who could fly her :)
Thanks so much Mr Cornelius , magnificent fighter with impressive technical solutions of flaps, from the distant past ,which are valid and used today.
Very nice video; real engine sound, no music. It was a pleasure to watch !
One of the most beautiful aeroplains of all times!
Not if you're looking at it through your rear view mirror!
@@seanpearce5809 Hahaha !!
Made in Germany!
Congratulations MeierMotors one more Gustav nice sound DB 605 Congratulations Charlie Brown pilot
Franz Stigler you mean? He was the one who flew yellow 2 with Charlie brown's heavily damaged B-17
Gustav, you said? It rather seems to me to be a model F.
Charlie Brown is a current British pilot who flies these warbirds, mostly Spitfires and 109's. You are thinking of the US B-17 pilot and Franz Stigler. Denis was referring to the current Charlie Brown..www.historicaircraftcollection.ltd.uk/pilots.html
@@luke-zx4eh although i'm not familiar with this aircraft, it may have previously been a museum piece not in airworthy condition, the restoration would include an engine rebuild of its original DB 605. Spare parts likely to refurbished, or replaced with new. Its quite amazing what can be done with CNC technology these days.
The ME 109 and the FW 190 “Butcher Bird “ are my 2 favorite Axis powers fighters ,
beautiful restoration of the BF 109 Messerschmidt.
What an outstanding fighter. Must be really nice just to cruising around in that thing. Sounds terrific too. Thanks for an awesome show.
Beautiful restoration!
I read where the engine on the 109 had quite the hot rod treatment, they had fuel injection, nitrogen oxide, maybe even turbocharged. The British spitfires were still using carburetors, so some of the British pilots would complain of fuel flat spots during sharp turns when they were upside down but with the fuel Injection 109 there was none. With the nitrogen oxide, the pilot would hit the switch right after a run at a bomber for a quick burst of speed. A lot of gunners thought they had a hit on the 109 when it really was just a puff of smoke of the oxide.
DB601 had a supercharger directly driven by the engine. It was infinitely adjustable transmission that worked good at any altitude unlike allied planes which had fixed gear superchargers that only worked best at one altitude.
Biggest engine possible in the smallest airframe possible and it was a beast. Always loved the 109's.
Somewhat ironically, the Spanish ended up fitting the Merlin to their version of the 109. The Germans lost more 109s to landing accidents than to combat loss, due to the 109's narrow landing gear which made cross wind or rough field landings particularly hazardous. The 109 and the Spitfire were each products of separate design philosophies so really can't be compared. Both had their good points and their bad points, at the end of the day it came down to how good the pilot was. Germany with its secret training of pilots in 1930s had a distinct edge over the British who only belatedly ramped up trainng of their pilots in the late 30s when it became increasing obvious war was inevitable, which by the way is not to say British pilots were in any way inferior to their German counterparts
Correct. But there was this britisch lady-pilot, who invented a part, worth some pence, for the caburettor of the famous Rolls-royce Merlin engine, which solved this problem for the Spitfires.
Oh yea the Spitfire engine would shut down when it was vertical upside down etc. Early ones at least like the Mk1
Gorgeous! And what a sound!!
Always remember watching war movies as a kid and thinking just how beautiful this aircraft was...That menacing 'swirl' painted spinner and the sound.....wow !
The cork screw nose cone paint job is the sexiest thing they ever came up with!
Wow that is a BEAUTIFUL machine. I love the ME-109, the BF-109 and the Focker Wolf 190, those planes to me are absolutely beautiful. The sound of that engine is awsome loved the video thank you for taking the time to make this.
"Focke Wulf" Not trying to be grammar Nazi just trying to help.
Still looks and sounds beautiful
My favorite ww2 fighter, just by the sound of his engine
@Arthur ben Ephraim the fuck bro
The sound is amazing.
Isn't She BEAUTIFUL! Me BF 109, FW 190, Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire - legends I grew up with.

this story has no right to fly
@@hughmungus5662 What the hell are you talking about...
@@andya857 I'm saying this technique should never fly. This aircraft should be in the Museum with the inscription " technology of war criminals and serial killers." Along with the American b-52
@@andya857 the sight of this plane and the sound of its engine awakened in me the desire to use anti-aircraft guns
@@hughmungus5662 Okay, you are Russian, i can understand your feelings. So a German can hate a Yakolev 3 for the same reasons...these planes were designed for battle, Soviets were as brutal as Germans, Stalin and Hitler were both psychopathic killers. 90 Nazi haters gave thumbs down. Don’t understand whats not to like about this plane or video. Keep up the good work MeierMotors!
Nazi haters; guess it's possible ..the war ended 75 years ago ?
117 scumbags
So according to your twisted logic, if you don't like the video you must be a Nazi hater. People dislike videos for various reasons, to say it's because they're Nazi haters is absolutely absurd. Like most things in life, you either like something or you don't but to say a person is a Nazi hater because they say they disliked the video is ridiculous and stupid to say the least.
That's the dumbest thing l've read all week! l suppose those who thumb down Spitfire videos are democracy haters and those that thumb down Yak-3 videos are communist haters?
I would hope we all hate Nazis
Great video. Do you have the history behind this plane? And if so can you post it?
So beautiful. Even though a little something is missing on the tail
They're illegal in the modern German state.
There is nothing missing on the tail now that the plane is based in the US.Historical accuracy has been restored,if you get what i am referring to.
The condition of this aircraft is astounding. It is like it was built months ago!!!
I helped put together a rear fuse section at Airframe assemblies. Is this the aircraft?
No fire extinguishers on startup, and high speed, low level passes on a test flight? I guess you have more faith in the plane than I might.
I don't understand why people would thumb down such a video. If you don't like classic aircraft, then why watch in the first place? And if it's for the historic context: I'm from a country which was occupied from 1940 to 1945. People back then used to see these aircraft overhead almost on a daily basis, as many fighter squadrons were based here. I think it is important to keep such aircraft flying, so that new generations can also hear the sounds that struck fear into people's hearts. That way it helps to try keep history from repeating itself.
They are idiot that why
THE WAR IS NOT OVER UNTIL THE LAST SOLDIER IS BURIED. NAZI SYMBOLS SHOULD NOT BE IN THE SKY EVER! BURN IN HELL FOR THIS FILTH!
Oooh nice. A 'Gustav'.
Nasty bird.
Good old times... ❤
Awesome!! Congrats
Nice flying.
That's a beautiful plane
Beautiful plane
Still the best mustache in aviation.
Brilliant Stuff!
They made 33,000+ bf109's, its crazy to think about.
damn she sounds beautiful what a lovely plane everyone needs to get the chance to fly in a BF 109 and an FW 190 only then can you really grasp the amazing nature of these planes it's unlike anything else
Such a beautiful plane, from such a horrible time.
Yeah horrible; the good guys lost.
It wasn't a bad time, Furries and all sorts of other degenerate pieces of trash didn't exist.
..Beautiful!...love the black/white spinner, looks perfect original, but needs the swaz painted on the tail to look accurate....
Why, you can't see it in flight and it is illegal in some countries.
If they limit where it can be used then they limit the money they can make off it.
@@ryancook6452 Garbage you talk there...
..well,as someone else pointed out, making it illegal to paint something on your aircraft is a bit Nazi-like in itself...we (the U.S.), Britain, France, and Soviet Union are much to blame for this, with the ultra-liberal government we installed in Germany following WW2...@@ryancook6452
@@dyer2cycle true, but i don't make the laws.

2:10 That mans mustache could fly the plane lol
First time I've seen a 109 starting without someone on a crank handle or a remote battery trolley! Was this 109 modified for larger internal batteries?
This aircraft has an inertia starter, you can hear the flywheel building up and topping out just before the starting clutch was engaged. This one seems to have on board electric power, inertia starters can be hand cranked, electrically driven or a combination. Pretty cool to watch, I love that massive propeller and the sound the aircraft made on the high speed pass!
Superbe avion !
I love this bird. 👍🏾
Does the tail wheel retract on these?
Here's a question for you Messerschmitt fanboys. Why was the DB605 engine developed as an "inverted" design, with the crankshaft at the top rather than the bottom? Did it have something to do with weight distribution or getting the exhaust away from the pilot?
Raises the crankshaft which you can use a larger propeller.
Lowers the center of gravity.
Easier to do maintenance--spark plugs, valves, etc.
Gets the crank out of the oil due to dry sump.
Better visibility as the hood can be narrower now that the V is facing down.
@@robertelmo7736 Very interesting. Thanks, Robert!
@@robertelmo7736 I think the main reason was to be able to fit a cannon firing thru the propeller hub.
