- Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Charles Scott said that the Parkland gunman explained to him why he chose Valentine's Day to murder 17 people and injured 17 others in 2018. "He described how he had difficulty with Valentine's Day because he had no one to love or know when to love him. And so that was a day of his choosing," Dr. Scott said.

Once again it is all about the murderer, he only cares about himself and how he is portrayed as the murderer. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.
Don't know who they are.
@@Imbrokeaswell consider yourself lucky
Yes! If only these losers were ignored entirely.
A murderer is self consumed. Empathy is off.
Yes he's a sycopath. No emotion no empathy all about him. Attention seeker.
“Blood started pouring out their heads, it was really nasty and sad to see”
Yet this creep kept shooting and killing.
Please, let the family handle this pos.
“It was really nasty and sad to see” yet he CONTINUED to murder people in COLD BLOOD!
This is the first time I realised how clear headed he was in preparing and carrying out his brutal "mission". He intended to kill. Those poor parents and family members must be shocked at hearing this.
If he wasn't the killer, though, I think the prosecution would have some explaining to do. No one seemed to know it was him the day that this shooting happened. If I were him, I would change my plea and really turn this court on its head. I bet the judge would resign and the prosecution would have no choice but to drop the case.
@@beckydoesit9331 Are you new to this? There are videos recording of the entire massacre, and his gun and vest left at the school (finger prints and DNA. What will he plead? He confessed when he was in custody a few hours after the shooting.
yeah same, its really clear just how cold and calculating he really was.
@@beckydoesit9331Well, the evidence is overwhelming. He was the killer. So the judge will not resign and the prosecution will not drop the case. When is he expected to be sentanced?
We need to start having punishments that fit the crime. Do to him what he did to others.
And what if it turns out he wasn't the killer? I think the defense is holding on to some truth bombs for the very end.
@@beckydoesit9331 seriously? there is video of him entering school. video of him confessing to this crimes. Who else could be? His evil twin?
And what good would that do? Plenty of studies concluded that capital punishment is useless, crime numbers don't go down. But red states love their vengeance so if I were a legislator I would do everything I can so that firing squad and guillotine are the only options available. Gas, chair and injection are torture...
@@STCatchMeTRACjRo Video of him shooting at the those poor students
We need to torture ppl like this who do heinous crimes. Life in prison and the death penalty, which they worry about being painless, don't deter ppl. Torture will.
Its just so weird hearing him talking so matter of fact about it as if he was describing taking his car to the garage to get fixed or something
Right??? That's so unnerving
Thinking the same thing 😩
I agree and this is one of the reasons that I don't think he did it. I think the defense team is trying to tell us something without saying it out loud. Cruz is innocent.
@@beckydoesit9331 he is as innocent as you are intelligent

These appear to be lucid thoughts with careful preparation.
they very clearly are...
Why does this only happen in America? Terribly sad.
I have bad news for you…
@@ProfShibeGo on. Anything you say is wrong, explain the discrepancy of the number of gun deaths in the USA vs the rest of the 1st world. Why does the USA alone have more gun deaths than all first world countries? You think you’re clever but you’re actually the scum at the bottom of the intellectual barrel.
This young man sounds completely different every time I hear him.
Tragic on all levels
Desperately sad, but a premeditated mass murderer can not sit in prison for life on tax dollars. He needed "help" years ago. So sad for his victims.
I mean the problem is, once you allow State sanctioned killing, it's inevitable that innocent people will die as part of the system. If this country wants to spend less on prisons I'm fine with that but then how about we don't have the most people in jail per capita of any country in the world? 25% of the world's prison population despite having only 6% of the global population.
State sanctioned killing is not a budgetary issue. I don't particularly care if this guy lives or dies but I do care about the innocent people that will inevitably die if we support state sanctioned killing. It's brutal and most of the developed world wants nothing to do with it.
By supporting the death penalty we are throwing our lot in with the likes of China and Russia and North Korea
agreed
The court costs for death penalty are far more costly than just giving him life in a cell with Bubba
I agree with the sentiment and think he should get the death sentence but fun fact, it actually costs more to kill them believe it or not.
He's said several times that he wants the death penalty. If I were a juror, I'd give him life. Why give him what he wants, a quick exit to escape accountability for his actions?
Seems like this psychiatrist was really good at getting him to talk about everything. Must have gained his trust somehow.
I think he gained his trust by using body language and creating a certain comfort zone. We also have to take into account the fact that Nikolas was in custody, so the opportunity to talk to a psychiatrist certainly satisfied him, especially since he was the main topic of conversation, so his narcissistic personality may have also benefited from it.
Not really. At this point Cruz was in jail for several years, mostly alone. Inmates get bored and long for conversation, especially if they get to talk a lot and feel like the center of attention.

4:00 valentines day reference
Did they say he wanted a victim to hug him?
The prosecution is doing outstanding on the rebuttal. While the defense is absolute garbage and even appears to be desperate at times.
There have been a few cases in history where the judge requests that the prosecutors and defenders change sides for a day to see if the problems persist, Usually that happens with a public defender, someone who is paid for by the state and not a paid attorney by the defendant. But the judge ought to try that to see if these 'issues' persist. I'm curious myself. The prosecutors seem to be much more professional, but I wonder if that would be the case if they were defending Cruz.
@@beckydoesit9331 that’s very interesting about what you said how the prosecution and defense would switch sides. I’m curious to know if you know of any know cases where that happened. Or anything recent in American history. But yes It would be hard to defend Cruz and I always thought when someone pleads guilty in a capital case; that they are doing so in exchange for a life sentence. Which may be the right decision. But the death penalty is so arbitrary. Also it’s not so much the execution that makes it justice. It’s putting the person on death row that’s the true punishment. Having less privileges confined for 23 hours a day. Not know when your appeals exhausts and your time is up.
I went on a tour one time in savanna and they said once The defendant was found guilty they would just take him out and Hang him that very same day.
I hate Valentine's Day too but I don't go on a school shooting over it.

What video do they bring the gun in?
if you notice, his expectations of what he thought "should happen", as he gunned down those people (ie., hugging him, screaming, etc.,), and how he minimized them to just, "passed out with bodily fluids pouring out -and it being 'sad' ", goes to show you how antisocial he truly is. he's making excuses. he did it because he takes pleasure in people suffering and being fearful, and he had such a weapon that was more than capable of doing just that. he wanted a real life horror movie. he's an evil entity, plain and simple 🗑🚮

Nikolas Cruz was bullied by his fellow ROTC Cadets. What I don't understand why he attacked normal kids who probably had very little interaction with him instead of the bullies who tormented him. That is worthy of psychological analysis.
But some people that he called bullies, were people that just didn't want to be his friends. He used to harassed a girl and she repeatedly told him that she had a boyfriend and didn't want to be with him. They were teens, not preschoolers.
@autistic housewife even if he was not aggressive to other kids, the schoolwork that he did in 8th grade, those drawings and writings, could make his classmates uneasy and some might even bully him due to his works. His school work had the swastika, sexualized and other disturbing elements. How do you think kids around him react seeing that? Of course he was doing it for attention. so it was his own doing if he got bullied.
@@STCatchMeTRACjRo Execute him. Before 2016, no unanimous decision was required for death sentences in Florida. The Florida Supreme Court initially erred by saying unanimity is required, before reversing it 2020. In between, the legislature amended the law to comply with the court ruling in 2016, but didn't restored the simple majority rule after 2020.
