Important testimony to show that he was of sound mind and not talking to so-called demons. He was alert to tell her to drive to the location in the way that he wanted. Premeditation is strengthened by her testimony.

I think that this whole thing was preventable! Why when he was a child and had those problems? Like... Threatening to kill his brother, and doing the stuff that was mentioned, the FBI didn't take any measure to prevent this? Didn't investigate potential bullying, and harassment? But right now they are going backward and re-checking all those things again! Serious waste of tax-payers money!

I think people do not understand the sentencing phase versus the initial trial. This is not to find him guilty. That has been established. To earn the maximum sentence, they need to thoroughly present everything so there is no doubt he deserves the maximum sentence which is death. That is why they are "dragging it out". This phase is going to be painfully in depth.
I mean he killed 17 kids and plead guilty. It should be a quick conversation for the jury and vote for the punishment you’d like.

I just think she drives because she enjoys it and likes to socialize. She is living off of her investments as she says. Many ppl do this after retirement to keep active.

I get it, but the process an attorney has to go through just to establish credibility in a case like this seems completely beside the point. That combined with the language barrier makes this portion painfully cringy to watch.
It’s sounds archaic. Like we know how Uber and taxis work all you have to do is ask her when she was an Uber driver and if she picked him up and compare that the evidence they have.
I wish they would have given her a translator. I'm sure she would have given a deeper explanation of what occurred. Like my mom she struggles to describe situation with out repeating herself

I read some of the comments and a lot of people said that she could have also been a victim. I didn’t think about that but it’s true. I’m so happy she was spared. I’m glad she testifying. Her laughing is nervous laughter because of the situation she’s in. Testifying in court is hard and for some people laughter is a nervous tick. She had no idea of what he was planning. She seems like a sweet grandmother person who wouldn’t hurt anyone.

The court should have given her a translator to help her explain better everything she clearly has some trouble especially in this case I can’t image how nervous she must feel to have to be involved in this when all she was doing was her job my grandmother is Mexican and she always needs my help to explain and do some things so I feel for her. She did the best she could but I feel it would have been better and easier for her with a translator or someone to help her out a bit on things she didn’t understand. She is so brave my heart goes out to her.
She was an Uber driver, not an eye witness to the actual murder. You've ever taken an Uber ride? Describing it is like describing how what you did when taking a nap, which is hardly nothing.

My college classmate and later coworker, was working at a hardware store in Austin and she checked out a guy who murdered a woman and him and his gf chopped her up with the tools he bought from her. So many ppl are affected in crimes that aren’t thought about, like this lady. Such a range of victims

I think the answer he was looking for was "The passenger types in the destination in the app when they request a ride" or something along those lines to show premeditation - he knew exactly where he was going and how to get there (as evidenced by him telling her not to follow GPS instructions). Unfortunately I think the intention didn't come through well which confused her.
Redundant means when it was established as in questioned before. These details are needed to establish them for the record. They are not redundant.

Ridiculous level of questioning regarding the workings of Uber. Everyone is aware that everything is done through the driver's phone. No wonder this foregone conclusion of a Trial is going to take 4 months.
Every detail small or big has to be discussed. It's the way it's done.
it's not really a trial cause he plead guilty it is the sentencing hearing. The details are important because he is claiming insanity and the prosecutor is trying to prove that it was premeditated and he knew exactly what he was doing. This testimony proves he was of sound mind, not talking to the "voices" he claims he was, and was calculated and cold in what he did. Death penalty is deserved.

The judge said 4 months and agree some of this questioning is ridiculous about how Uber works I know it’s the way it’s done but doesn’t make it nonsense nonetheless
It's a relevant detail that explains how they met. While it does seem trivial, because it is, they still need to say it so that it's on record. That way if someone is reviewing the case in 50 years after Uber has folded they can understand what's going on.
My heart breaks for this women and everyone involved. She must have so much internal guilt for this man's actions.

This is heartbreaking to see. This sweet lady reminds me a little bit of my mother or someone that would be related to me. She was just trying to make ends meat and had no idea. Echoing so many sentiments here, I really hope she doesn't blame herself or feel overwhelming guilt. If anything, we should praise her that she's testifying despite the language barrier.

Everything he has done leading up to the murders were known because he was seeking attention so everyone would know it is him. He didn’t do anything discretely. He planned all of this to be “famous”

I’m not sure why they’re sometimes having trouble understanding her. I’m Australian, never travelled so I’m certainly not used to accents or different languages & I understand every word she’s saying perfectly… but everyone’s different I guess.

they had years to decide if they want to testify for closure. they're all choosing to do this. this is to push the penalty higher so they're doing a good thing
This is the penalty phase to determine if he gets a death sentence or life in prison. That's the whole point of this part.
Everyone deserves a fair trail regardless of how much proof there is against them

He's already pled guilty. This is not a trial to find him guilty, it's because the prosecutor is asking for the death penalty. Defense is asking for life in prison.
I don't like the way she is being spoken to. They are acting like she's speaking an entirely different language just because she has a bit of an accent.
I am a driver, and she references the phone because things are dispatched through the phone, without much control on our end. It should actually not be true, though, that the ride will still appear in detail on her phone. It comes through the phone, but after 1-2 years the driver can no longer access the details. They waste so much time here asking this poor woman how a ride-share service works. It comes through the phone. End of story.

He was 18 at the time which is legal age to purchase guns. His mother, Linda, actually went with him to the gun store on his first visit, then he went back on his own and made the purchase. His mother was aware of the purchase. Very sad. Some states are raising age to 21.

The female lawyer who comes in the end and asks the Uber Driver if she thought the shooter was 'anxious & nervous'... is this an attempt to prove that he was, in fact, not in a sound state of mind at the time?
I don't know if the prosecution or the defense asked. If it was the prosecutor, she might have been trying to show he was cold blooded. If the defense, I'd think what you suggested,
