His middle school teacher took really good notes on observed behavior.

This teacher did everything right. A school system that forces kids like this in w other kids fails everyone.

I know every kid has a right to an education, but NC had no right to disrupt every other students education. He should have been institutionalized.

What this teacher and other teachers go through is exactly what the problem is. Problematic students know there are no consequences for bad behavior. All the teacher is able to do is take notes. Teachers should have more say in removing such a student from their classroom at once. This is exactly where such a disturbed student learns that he can continue to escalate such bad behavior and the adults around him will do nothing. The school system needs to deal with such a situation immediately but they allow this to continue, leaving the teacher and the rest of the students no choice but to put up with this. Such a classroom disturbance is not an isolated incident. It’s happening every day in most schools and it should not be tolerated!

I don't understand why the public schools held on to a kid like this. He should have been sent to a school that would have dealt with all of his social and emotional issues and learning disabilities. Clearly the kid wasn't learning learning anything or making any progress in his academic setting. There was absolutely nothing positive going on here. So why was he kept there with everyone knowing that he was struggling so much with absolutely Everything? Appropriate placements are crucial.

Stop faulting this teacher who did everything possible to get some kind of help for this homicidal maniac!

Gosh so many people had a chance to make a difference with this kid. Worst thing mother did was give him access to guns. She was CRAZY To do that.

really good notes, thorough and concise. funny how that psych doctor witness had nothing close to noted behavior or any useful information and yet, is probably getting paid a painful amount more than this humble teacher. I love teachers.... they are the most underrate professionals in our society.

Her notes really explain a lot. It’s a shame that the ones who could have maybe made a difference refused to do so. I feel like she knew he was capable of what he done and felt the need to keep all those records for years. What a great observant teacher!

He had serious behavior problems everyday in that class…why did they keep him in that class or even that school. No one thought he was a danger to teachers or students? He threatened that teacher all the time! Why was nothing done?

I felt so sorry for this witness. Teachers do not get paid enough to have to deal with delinquents like NC. The school made her deal with this lunatic too long.

I feel so bad for that teacher. All of her efforts reporting him, curbing is F grade on the tests, she literally did everything and beyond. I couldn’t imagine how she felt after that low life destroyed all of those innocent lives, no one deserves such treatment.

Think about how much time this took out of the teacher's day! That is one of several dozen children she had to keep up with.. can you imagine? This one child is a full-time job! Not to mention terrifying.

The worst thing the no child Left behind movement ever did was leave kids behind because they said all kids were alike and as such thrust them into the same learning environment.

I can't imagine being a student in that class trying to learn with all this. And this teacher trying to teach. Lord. He should have been sent to a school that specialized in kids like him. Our education system is so underfunded it's disgusting. Maybe with the proper funding and intervention something could have changed the outcome...

She's a great teacher, as a former special needs teacher , I can only imagine the fear and trauma she, her co workers and especially the children in that classroom had to endure daily! No real support, no one to help her or Nikolas. He didn't belong there, he couldn't do the work, obviously sensory and neurological issues, a lot of anger and aggressive behavior.

As a former teacher & School Psychologist I understand the dynamics that were going on between the teacher, staff and administrators. This kid was a walking red flag on a daily basis & was a danger to others. She was correct, he did not belong there. Her documentation provided all the evidence they needed to substantiate this. The burden of dealing with this student detracted from everyone and infringed on other student's rights. The amount of time required to document all of this was an incredible burden on the teacher/s and it sounds like to no avail. The school went through the motions with an evaluation, an FBA, etc but failed to utilize the data to place this student in a more appropriate setting as the " least restrictive" setting of the regular ed classroom was not adequately addressing his academic or emotional needs. Unfortunately it comes down to money & schools do not want to pay for alternative settings. This case, however, depicts gross negligence as there is a well documented history and pattern & he certainly was not making "effective progress". Unfortunately parents are not educated about getting an educational advocate or filing a case with their states' Special education board. This was a collosal failure on the school's part.
