Ford Dealer SHOCKS Every Truck Buyer, Why Didn't They Do THIS Sooner?

  • Ford trucks will NEVER be the same... Over the course of 2023 Ford Truck F150 when up in price and thousands of trucks were just sitting on lots not selling due to a 30% increase in MSRP over just 2 years. So you would thing that Ford would keep prices the same for the 2024 model so they could at least start selling trucks again. Well that ship has totally sailed and the F150 has been forever changed. It's no longer a vehicle for the middle class and is now at luxury prices. With the 2024 refresh Ford has gone even more insane raising the MSRP of the Base F150 almost $3,000 with the higher trim levels following that trend as well.
Now that the 2024 models have been revealed... I wanted to see if there were any deals to be had on the outgoing 2023 models that were wasting away on Ford lots
And what I found completely left me in shock....

These automanufactures an workers will eventually put their selfs out of business an jobs. Ford an the rest of the pickup manufacturers have no reason to make these trucks cheaper because their protected by the Chicken tax put on foreign Pick Ups from over seas , any pick built overseas is charged this tax so they can't sell cheap Pickups here. That's why they build alot of them here to avoid that tax, yet they are still getting overpriced to.

I live on and own a farm and need a new truck to use as a tool, which is what a truck is supposed to be, but I can't justify spending that much on a truck. So I hit the internet and found a 1985 F-250HD 4x4 extended cab 100% rust free with the 460 big block 130k original miles 4-speed for 5 grand i definitely don't regret passing on a new over priced full of issue's new truck that im not even able to work on when needed. A truck that will never last 38 years like the 85 i just purchased. For the money I saved, the old 85 can be fully rebuilt 10 times over. Ford, GM, and Ram can go belly up for all I care they went from building affordable vehicle's for the public to building vehicles for the elite. They for got who it was that made thim the companies they have become. Working-class Americans built their companies. If it wasn't for us, they would not exist, and now that they have turned their backs on us, they can sink. Anyone that supports what they have become and keeps buying this overpriced junk supporting their greed is pathetic.

The dealer is the worst place to buy a car, I’ve always felt that their main goal is to get as much money out of you as possible and that practice of adding to the MSRP shows their greed. If I had ordered a new car on an already agreed upon price and when it came in they wanted an additional $10000.00 I would have been pretty pissed off. now got over 700k miles, I know how to replace everything on the truck which itself is rare in itself but I could probably rebuild the engine and transmission for less than 1 month if car payment and insurance on a new one. It tows up to around 7500lbs just fine with 1500lbs in the bed and 6 grown adults in the cab and can hold 80mph on the interstate this loaded and stops just fine as well.
I am literally gonna be driving this thing to a million miles, maybe Ford will give me a new 5.0? 😏

I just sold a lotus Elise for thousands more than I paid for it. Maybe because it is a pure sport car without all the fancy displays. Truck sales are always high in the last quarter especially in December due to businesses needing tax write offs. As long as the vehicle is 6000 lb gvwr or more you can sometimes take a 100% deduction off the top of your income in the first year without having to depreciated it annually. Then years later when you sell it you only get taxed on the sale price of the vehicle (of course much less than the sticker was when you bought it). If you trade it in then it rolls into that years deduction. The tax deduction not only saves you the money on taxes when sold but the initial write off can bump you to a lower tax bracket depending on your income saving you many percent in taxes for that year. Of course clearing out the current year inventory usually is additional incentive for salesmen. Also ford fleet often has additional discounts if you are a fleet buyer. Only thing you need to be a fleet buyer is to have your business paperwork. You can still buy just one truck under their fleet program.

Analysts have shown that 51% of the increase in prices for all products wasn’t inflation, but manufacturers increased markups. In other words, from food to trucks, 51% of the increases from 2020 wasn’t supply chain or other obstacles. It was greed that companies used inflation numbers much worse than it should have been. And after inflation started to drop, they decided to keep the markups. It wasn’t a secret. Many companies announced it during their stockholders meetings.

Even if the next year is a carry-over with no changes, they should still treat it like a new generation and make an effort to heavily discount that current model year inventory for the next model year. You must have a typo. There is NO Way in Hell the Dealer gave you $32k for a 02 in trade. I'm not sure you would get $32k for a 22 right now

And these auto workers want 45% raise? That will just increase the price of the trucks more. They still won’t be able forward to buy one.

A dealer by me has had an F150 on the lot for 200+ days and refuses to work with me on a deal. They just keep coming back with the same price.

In 2008, I bought a new/ leftover 2007 Silverado 3500 dually cab and chassis with the 12' "chassis". I paid $18,000 for it and sold it for $14,000 in 2014... I sure wish I had it back.

Prices really aren’t that bad. Depends what Ecoboost is in it tho. 2.7 is basic, awesome power train don’t get me wrong, but 3.5 Ecoboost or 5.0 is where it’s at. You’ve got to expect 45k-65k for a (3.5 or 5.0) 4-door F150. Need to get the MaxTow package for the 36gal gas tank.

How do you go on the dealer lot without anyone bothering you?? I just like to go to look at where prices are at sometimes and I hate getting flooded with dealers.

What if they moved the extra F150s to some remote storage area. A F150 junk yard. Could be a bad assumption that they sold those trucks.

looks like I'm going to have to go out of town to get this kind of prices, here in the area where I live around 150 mile radius everything is overpriced and very little discounts, owners are way too greedy, I hope they don't sell crap, and they want to give you almost nothing for your trades.

I haven't bought a new car since we paid $27K for my wife's Subaru Outback in 2019, so maybe I'm a bit out of touch but I could not see me paying even $45K for a base pickup truck. I guess it's good that dealers are finally lowering prices, but they are still too damn high! I did order a Maverick about 6 months ago that I'll be paying about $30K for when it arrives in a couple weeks.

Empty rows only means they shipped them to another dealership that actually sells trucks to people.
Some dealerships only transfer/sell to other dealers

And carmakers would probably want to start making entry level compact sedans again, if gas gets more expensive and dealers are stuck with expensive trucks and SUV's that they can't sell, even with discounts.

Man I paid $32K for my 2010 FX4 5.4 Crew Cab brand new. Just hit 150k miles on it and Ive been looking at new ones recently. Im amazed how much they are now. Another thing to consider is tax. Im in CA and sales tax is almost 10%. All the dealer discounts goes bye bye.
