  • Today, we're taking a detailed look at the All-New 2024 Ford Ranger! There's a lot of differences that are automatically apparent on the outside of the 2024 Ranger. A lot is different, the frame is different, the sheet metal is different, and much more. Starting off with the hood, the 2024 Rangers hood is not as slanted as the previous generation. Next for the headlights you have a new C design with projector led headlights. The grille is completely different as well as has a camera so you now get the 360 camera. Onto the side, the fenders are more flared out than the previous generation. Next to the rear end of the vehicle, you will notice upgraded steps, tail lights, Ford logo, lights, tailgate, towing, etc.
For the interior you get an upgraded center console, dashboard, steering wheel, center console shifter, instrument cluster, low flat floor, and more.
The new Ranger is 1.9 inches longer on the overall wheelbase and 2.5 inches wider than the previous version. Lastly, there is one thing that does carry over from the previous generation of the Ranger and it is the 2.3 liter, four cylinder EcoBoost. But Ford has listened and they have also given us the ability to have a 2.7 liter EcoBoost v6. But also there is the 3L Ecoboost out of the Ranger Raptor.

I find this rather hilarious, I selected build my own ford ranger lariat, with base options, nothing fancy, it's $46k. The one I bought (in 2019) has some additional options; STX Chrome Package, Towing Package, and a electronic locking differential. I paid $37k out the door. Literally $10k less than what you claim is the "budget" friendly Ranger. I think ford is gunna go out of business. Almost every car around me has a "market adjustment tax" making every car they sell not worth buying.

The Ranger used to be reasonably priced and good for many uses. Lots of small businesses used them around here but people can’t afford them anymore. No single cab option along with many other things make them another amenity most average people can’t afford. Ford does make single cab, diesel, manual transmission rangers in other countries but we can’t have them in the USA

I love how “bigger masculine aggressive front end” is being justified as a reasonable alternative/upgrade on the new Ranger to “being able to see over the hood of your truck is feminine” on the old Ranger lmfao. There is no doubt that the new design looks much nicer, but that line of justification says everything about the state of modern truck design and marketing. Form over function and appearance over safety.
I own a 2021 XLT and the ability to see over most of the hood and easily nose it in when parking is seriously underrated.

So at 61 years old, I've had a variety of trucks. My last "truck" was a 2019 Ranger XLT for 32K. It took a bit to get used to the porpoising feeling and I wasn't sure about it overall.
And then....I got lost in the Talledega Nat'l forest... The Nav showed roads that were old logging roads from maybe the 1950's (?) to give you an idea of the bad conditions.
That little truck didn't miss a beat ! HUGE ruts filled with water and mud, loose gravel winding turns and everything in between.
A heavy truck would have sank !
I ended up averaging 23.5 mpg, pulled a camper everywhere and did a lot of remodeling with it too....All with ZERO issues.
If I need another truck, I won't think twice about buying another Ranger.

You kept saying "Ford did this to save money" or "did that to save money" and that's great because as a global version of the truck, it should cost less. But who does it cost less for? Ford or the consumer? What is the price of an outgoing FX4 compared to the new FX4? I'd love to know considering the only thing car manufacturers have been consistent with is raising the cost of their vehicles year over year. This vehicle should be the same price or cheaper than the outgoing model, but I'm willing to bet that not only will this not be the case but the new one will actually cost buyers MORE.

I may feel that way about the Ranger when I get to see the 2024. The old Ranger was the perfect size for me except no crew cab available. They need to do something about pricing. Well with the price of the new Ranger, I’ll keep driving our 11 Ranger XLT super cab 4WD.
It has the 4.0L V6 with a 5spd automatic transmission and limited slip differential and a tow pkg.
I have to have at least a 6’ bed as our truck is used mainly for work around our property.
Before adding a K&N intake and a FlowMaster 3” exhaust system, I was getting 19mpg with the cruise set on 75mph, I’m now getting 23mpg.
It has custom 2 tone paint, (Silver over Red metallic), custom upholstery, (Red with black trim and stitching), LimeX spray in bed liner, tonneau cover, rear air shocks, running boards, dashboard cover, window vents and only 36K miles.
With the new Ranger being a double cab, it has only a Useless 5’ bed. The Toyota Tacoma double cab is available with a 6’ bed and is more reliable than Ford.
Most of us who own pickups use them for hauling so the wimpy 5’ bed is Worthless.

I plan to buy at the end of 2024 either a midsize or 1/2 ton. I am leaning mid-size for drivability and price. Max of 1,800 lbs of payload. Hmmm, what is the payload on the actual truck in this video? ;) I am impressed with the interior upgrades. The powertrains are solid. I am underwhelmed with the exterior. I have never been a Canyon/Colorado fan until 2023. GM has hit a home run inside and out with the new Colorado/Canyon. The new Tacoma is looking amazing with the exterior, interior, and under the hood, including a hybrid option. Perhaps the Ranger exterior will look less pedestrian in person? The Frontier is a fine truck as well as the Ridgeline. I think Ford should have done more with the Ranger. Again, it is on my list, but??? Oh, and as far as Ford simplifying choices, I have used the configurator and it looks to me that they have less choices in order to keep the prices higher. I don’t believe that fewer options means a lower price.

Hate the increased size logo. I don't want to be an unpaid billboard for the mfr. Ford has to cut this out! Sadly, the revised Ranger is no match for the revised Tacoma. Toyota has once again leaped forward by offering a hybrid option, and although it doesn't deliver much increase in MPG, it gives you tremendous torque. Ford wimped out on this revision; i guess they don't have any battery production capacity yet, so they have to stay with pure ICE. The Tacoma outsells Ranger 3:1 so far in 2023, it will probably stay that way, and I expect Toyota to have the biggest year in their history in 2024, while FORD stock is reeling from the realization of the investing public that Ford has agreed to transfer billions to the UAW, and will have so little left over to invest, that they will fall further behind.
